Synthesis of Aromatic Hydrocarbons from 1,2,3-Selenadiazoles and α-PyronesA simple synthesis of aromatic hydrocarbons is demonstrated by the examples 8a-f, h-j, and 10g. The essential step is a [π2 + π4] cycloaddition of cycloalkynes 3 and α-pyrones 9, a Diels-Alder reaction with inverse electronic demand. The corresponding 1,2,3-selenadiazoles 2 are used as precursors of 3. The whole process 2 + 9 → 8 is enabled by the elimination of N2, Se, and CO2 in this sequence.

Anhand der Verbindungen 8a-f, h-j und 10g wird eine einfache Aromatensynthese beschrieben. Der wesentliche Schritt ist dabei die [π2 + π4]-Cycloaddition von Cycloalkinen 3 an α-Pyrone 9, eine Diels-Alder-Reaktion mit inversem Elektronenbedarf. Als Cycloalkin-Vorstufe werden die entsprechenden 1,2,3-Selenadiazole 2 eingesetzt. Der Gesamtprozeß 2 + 9 → 8 wird ermöglicht durch die Eliminierung von N2, Se und CO2 in dieser Reihenfolge.
