    Description / Table of Contents: Heterocyclic and Carbocyclic 12π and 14π Systems, 50 - Syntheses and Chemical Properties of Dicyanopseudophenafulvenes - Derivatives of 2H- and 3H-Benz[cd]azulenes4,5-Dihydro-7,9-dimethyl-3H-benz[cd]azulen-3-one (1) as well as the corresponding iminium salt 2 are oxidised by DDQ giving the 3H-benz[cd]azulene derivatives 3 and 4. Reaction of 3 with triethyl-oxonium tetrafluoroborate afforded the salt 5, reaction of 2 with malononitrile in the presence of „Hünig-Base“ afforded 6, from which the fulvene 8 was obtained by catalytic dehydrogenation. When 4 was treated with sodiomalononitrile in the presence of atmospheric oxygen, isomerisation to the 2H-Benz[cd]azulene system 9 took place and the fulvene 10 could be isolated in poor yield.
    Notes: 4,5-Dihydro-7,9-dimethyl-3H-benz[cd]azulen-3-on (1) sowie dessen N,N-Dimethyliminiumsalz 2 lassen sich durch Oxidation mit DDQ in die 3H-Benz[cd]azulenderivate 3 und 4 überführen. Das Salz 5 wird durch Alkylierung von 3 mit Triethyloxonium-tetrafluoroborat erhalten, die Verbindung 6 aus 2 durch Reaktion mit Malononitril in Gegenwart von „Hünig-Base“ und aus 6 durch katalytische Dehydrierung das 3H-Benz[cd]azulenderivat 8. Das Iminiumsalz 4 liefert bei der Reaktion mit Natriomalononitril in Gegenwart von Luftsauerstoff unter Isomerisierung zum 2H-Benz[cd]azulensystem 9 das in geringer Ausbeute isolierte Fulven 10.
