Notes:
Ytterbium metal reacts with thallium(I) 3,5-diphenylpyrazolate, or with diphenylmercury and 3,5-diphenylpyrazole (Ph2pzH) in tetrahydrofuran or 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DME) giving, after appropriate isolation, the first lanthanoid(II) pyrazolate complex, [Yb(Ph2pz)2(DME)2]. The molecular structure reveals eight coordinate ytterbium(II) with two cisoid η2-3,5-diphenylpyrazolate and two chelating 1,2-dimethoxyethane ligands.
