Ketoreductic Acid and Reductic AcidThe easily accessible enol acetate 4 of 1,2-cyclopentanedione is a convenient starting material for the preparation of this diketone and its halogen derivatives. In this manner the synthesis of reductic acid (8) could be improved and ketoreductic acid (2) was obtained for the first time. Their properties are of interest with regard to squaric acid (1).

Das leicht zugängliche Enolacetat 4 des Cyclopentandions-(1.2) eröffnet ergiebige Wege zur Herstellung dieses Diketons und seiner Halogen-Derivate. Damit kann die Synthese der Reduktinsäure (8) verbessert und die Ketoreduktinsäure (2) erstmals erhalten werden. Ihre Eigenschaften haben besonderes Interesse im Hinblick auf die Quadratsäure (1).
