Rearrangements on the Demercuration with Metal HydridesThe products of oxymercuration of homobarrelene (3) partly form rearranged products with the structure of bicyclo[3.2.1]octa-2,6-diene on the demercuration with metal hydrides such as sodium borohydride, lithium aluminium hydride, the temperature and the solvent. A radical mechanism with repeated homoallyl-rearrangement is proposed. A similar rearrangement, however, does not take place in the case of analogous compounds derived from bicyclo[2.2.2]octadienes.

Die Oxymercurierungsprodukte des Homobarrelens (3) liefern bei der Demercurierung mit Metallhydriden, wie Natriumborhydrid, Lithiumaluminiumhydrid und Tributylzinnhydrid, z,T. umgelagerte Verbindungen mit Bicyclo[3.2.1]octa-2,6-dien-Gerüst. Der Grad der Umlagerung hängt ab von der Art des Metallhydrids, der Temperatur und dem Lösungsmittel. Ein Radikalmechanismus mit mehrmaliger Homoallylumlagerung wird vorgeschlagen. Bei den analogen Verbindungen des Bicyclo[2.2.2]octadiens findet keine derartige Umlagerung statt.
