Carboxonium Compounds is Carbohydrate Chemistry, XXVIII1) Molecular Structure of 2-Methyl-4,5-tetramethylene-1,3-dioxolan-2-ylium PerchlorateThe X-ray analysis of 2-methyl-4,5-tetramethylene-1,3-dioxolan-2-ylium perchlorate (2) (space group P21/c; Z = 4, R = 6.7%) shows the non-planarity of the dioxolanylium ring in 2 which adopts a twist conformation 4T5 with a torsional angle O1-C5-C4-O3 of 25.9° instead. The arrangement of the cyclohexane ring in 2 lies between a chair and a half-chair conformation.

Die Röntgenanalyse von 2-Methyl-4,5-tetramethylen-1,3-dioxolan-2-yliumperchlorat (2) (Raumgruppe P21/c; Z = 4, R = 6.7%) zeigt, daß der Dioxolanyliumring in 2 nicht planar ist, sondern eine “Twist”-Konformation 4T5 mit einem Torsionswinkel O1-C5-C4-O3 von 25.9° einnimmt. Die Anordnung des Cyclohexanringes in 2 liegt zwischen einer Sessel- und einer Halbsesselkonformation.
