Natural Products from Fungi, 22. Oxidative Cyclisation of HydroxybenzophenonesAfter grisans (2) and xanthones (3), the third natural product skeleton (4) of this type, occur-ring in fungi, has now been synthesized in analogy to the biosynthesis by oxidative cyclisation of hydroxybenzophenones. In this way the 10-alkyldihydroxanthones 16 and 30 were obtained easily and in high yields, and possibilities for further natural product syntheses are thus offered. The condensation products 18 and 26 with grisan and 10-methoxydihydroxanthone structures, respectively, as well as 16 could be rearranged into a diphenyl ether or xanthones.

Nach Grisanen (2) und Xanthonen (3) konnte nun auch das dritte, in Pilzen verbreitete Naturstoff-Grundgerüst dieses Typs (4) durch oxidative Cyclisierung von Hydroxybenzo-phenonen in Anlehnung an die Biosynthese dargestellt werden. Einfach und mit hoher Ausbeute wurden so die 10-Alkyldihydroxanthone 16 und 30 gewonnen und Möglichkeiten zu weiterführenden Naturstoffsynthesen eröffnet. Die Kondensationsprodukte 18 und 26 mit Grisan- bzw. 10-Methoxydihydroxanthon-Struktur sowie 16 ließen sich durch Dienon-Phenol-Umlagerung in einen Diphenyläther bzw. Xanthone umlagern.
