Preparation and Thermal Behaviour of Pentachlorobenzoic Acid DerivativesThe reaction of pentachlorobenzoic acid (1) with metal salts yields ionic and covalent derivatives of 1, which can be characterised by i.r.-spectroscopy. Decarboxylation of 1 leads to pentachlorobenzene. The pyrolysis of the derivatives of 1 gives octachloro xanthone (7), pentachlorobenzoic acid anhydride (3), pentachlorobenzoyl chloride (5), and pentachloro-phenylmetal compounds, depending on the central element.

Die Umsetzung von Metallsalzen mit Pentachlorbenzoesäure (1) führt zur Bildung ionisch und kovalent aufgebauter 1-Derivate, die IR-spektroskopisch charakterisierbar sind. Während 1 zum Pentachlorbenzol decarboxyliert wird, führt die Pyrolyse seiner. Derivate in Abhängigkeit vom Zentralelement zu Octachlorxanthon (7), Pentachlorbenzoesäureanhydrid (3), Pentachlorbenzoesäurechlorid (5) und zu Pentachlorphenylmetall-Verbindungen.
