В брошюре отражены важнейшие события последних лет в истории освоения Арктики - поход атомного ледокола "Арктика" к Северному полюсу (1977 г.) и высокоширотное плавание ледокола "Сибиры" (1978 г .) , осуществившего проводку транспортного судна "Капитан Мышевский" по Северному Морскому пути из Атлантического океана в Тихий.
Автор - известный полярник, ведущий специалист Института Арктики и Антарктики, участник и руководитель полярных экспедиций, а также научной группы в экспедиции на ледоколе "Арктика". За эту работу И. П . Романов был награжден орденом Ленина.
Работа адресована лекторам и широкому кругу читателей.

The brochure reflects the most important events of recent years in the history of the development of the Arctic - the cruise of the nuclear-powered icebreaker "Arktika" to the North Pole (1977) and the high-latitude voyage of the icebreaker "Sibira" (1978), which escorted the transport ship "Kapitan Myshevsky" along the Northern Sea paths from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific.
The author is a well-known polar explorer, leading specialist of the Institute Arctic and Antarctic, participant and leader of polar expeditions, as well as a scientific group in the expedition on the icebreaker "Arktika". For this work I.P. Romanov was awarded the Order of Lenin.
The work is addressed to lecturers and a wide range of readers.
