Geothermal energy is one of the most widely-usedrenewable energies worldwide. Due to the fact thatit is available at any time, independent of the seasonand the climate, geothermal energy has become more and more attractive as the baseload supply for heat and electricity. The investment costs and risks of a geothermal power plant are still high, because the technology is in an early stage of development. Geothermal technology offers a huge potential for development and innovation, as well asfor protection of the climate and environment. If we can develop this huge potential successfully, geothermal energy will contribute significantly to a sustainable energy mix.
