Anhand des historischen Quellenmaterials werden die als Folge der Nutzung aufgetretenen Veränderungen in der Vegetation und der Hydrologie des ehemals größten Regenmoores Nordostdeutschlands rekonstruiert und in drei Zeitabschnitten dargestellt.
Die Nutzung setzte im ausgehenden 18. Jahrhundert durch Torfstecherei ein. Im 19. Jahrhundert kamen land- und forstwirtschaftliche Nutzung hinzu. Insgesamt blieb die Nutzung jedoch bis 1950 extensiv. Die radikalsten Veränderungen traten bei den natürlichen Gewässern des Moores auf.
Frühere Interpretationen zum Vegetationswandel werden korrigiert.
Description:
Based on study of historical sources, changes in the vegetation and hydrology due to the utilization of the in former times largest raised bog in northeastern Germany are reconstructed for three time periods.
Utilization began by the end of the 18th century with peat cutting by hand followed by agricultural and forestry utilization within the 19th century. However, the bog was cultivated extensively until 1950. The most intensive changes have taken place with respect to the natural waters of the bog.
Earlier interpretations of the vegetation changes are corrected.
