In einer kurzen Bestandsaufnahme der Moore in Niedersachsen beschreibt der Autor ihre ursprüngliche Ausdehnung und die heutige Situation. Anschließend wird auf den gegenwärtigen Zustand der Hochmoore und die Bemühungen des Naturschutzes zur Erhaltung dieses Lebensraumes näher eingegangen. Dabei wird die Ausweisung von Naturschutzgebieten vor und nach Verkündung des Niedersächsischen Moorschutzprogramms berücksichtigt. Schließlich wird eine detaillierte Bestandsaufnahme der Umsetzung des Moorschutzprogramms gegeben.

With a brief inventory of the Lower Saxonian peatbogs the author is portraying the original and the present extension. Affiliated is a description of the present state of the raised bogs and of the efforts of the nature protection authorities with regard to the conservation of this habitat. Hereby the inventory of nature conservation areas before and after the Lower Saxonian Raised-Bog Preservation Law is taken into consideration. Finally a detailled report on the materialization of this law is given.
