Einleitend werden die geographischen Bedingungen der Gebirgsmoore beschrieben (Höhenlage, Topographie, Klima, Wasserhaushalt). Es wird nachgewiesen, daß die Gefällsverhältnisse die Bodenwasserbewegung beeinflussen und damit die jeweiligen Vegetationskomplexe (Tab. 2). Ökotechnische Maßnahmen müssen bei Schonung der Vegetation nach dem Gefälle der Mooroberfläche ausgerichtet werden (Tab. 3). Für Hochmoor-Reste (-Blöcke), deren Fläche meist klein und deren Gefälle oft beträchtlich ist, ist eine Wiedervernässung zur Renaturierung nicht erfolgversprechend. Bei (industriell abgetorftem) Leegmoor kann dagegen die Mooroberfläche mittels Moor-Bagger oder Planiergerät auf Moorraupe horizontal umgestaltet oder unter Beachtung des Gefälles planiert werden.

Firstly the geographical conditions of raised bogs in the mountains are described (altitude, topography, climate, hydrological conditions). It is proved, that the gradient of the mire surface influences the soil water movement and thus the mire vegetation complex (tab. 2). Ecotechnical projects for mire rewetting and renaturalization must be geared to the mire surface slope (tab. 3). For a remaining block of raised bog peat in a cutting area, which has a small surface and a relatively great slope, a rewetting for renaturalization unsuccessful. In cut—over areas (Leegmoor) the surface can, with a mire excavator or mire bulldozer, be transformed horizontally or, depending on the gradient, levelled.
