Carbon Radicals and Phosphorus TrichlorideCarbon radicals were generated in phosphorus trichloride and the stable products identified and determined. The reactive phenyl- and tert-butyl radicals react with phosphorus trichloride to form organic dichlorophosphines, whereas α-cyanoisopropyl and trityl radicals do not react (see table). While trityl radicals give only trityl chloride and α-cyanoisopropyl radicals mainly combine to form tetramethylsuccinodinitrile, ter -butyl radicals are also stabilized by the disproportionation and combination reaction. The reaction mechanism as well as the influence of the stability of the carbon radicals, and the effect of polar factors on the product formation are discussed.

Kohlenstoff-Radikale wurden in Phosphortrichlorid erzeugt und die Reaktionsprodukte identifiziert und bestimmt. Die reaktiven Phenyl- und tert.-Butyl-Radikale reagieren mit Phosphortrichlorid zu organischen Dichlorphosphinen, α-Cyan-isopropyl- und Trityl-Radikale dagegen nicht (Tab.). Während Trityl-Radikale nur Tritylchlorid und die α-Cyanisopropyl-Radikale vorwiegend das Kombinationsprodukt Tetramethylbernsteinsäure-dinitril liefern, geben tert.-Butyl-Radikale auch die Stabilisierungsprodukte, welche aus der Kombinations- und Disproportionierungsreaktion stammen. Der Reaktionsmechanismus, der Einfluß der Stabilitäten der Kohlenstoff-Radikale sowie polarer Faktoren auf das Reaktionsgeschehen werden diskutiert.
