Description: Title in English: Special pedagogical diagnostics in education of individuals with physical disability Limited and disordered movement or ability to move has an impact on the educational process and vocational training of the people with physical disability. It is not always possible to be educated at the place of living, because all schools have non barrier access and are not able to ensure optimal conditions for inclusive education. Immobility often means limited participation of pupil in some lessons, limits the choice of the leisure time activities and complicates independent movement (on a wheelchair) in the social environment due to the lack of the non-barrier access to pavements, shopping centres and cultural centres and offices. In some cases, persons with severe disability have limited life space and are often socially isolated. Together with the inclusive trends in the society it is necessary to create resources which enable to teachers, assistants and leisure time teachers to work with people with physical disability. The base of presented e-book is aimed on the support including the educational process and the aim is to summarise and present possible intervention and compensation. The studying text should make the orientation in the presented field easier and provide support to students and special needs teachers and to other specialists to solve the problems in the sphere of support of people with physical disability.

Description: Title in English: Pro-naturally focused teacher and his approach to (environmental) education The publication aims to cover the key factors which influenced the teacher´s biophile/pro-environmental orientation, and his approach to the education, and subsequently provide his life picture for which the term bioprofile is used. In order to fulfill the goal of the publication a qualitative approach was chosen. The group of respondents consisted of four teachers whose profiles corresponded with the set beforehand criteria. For data collecting and their analysis and interpretation the method of life history in combination with the narrative, phenomenological and hermeneutical approaches was used. The final bioprofile, which is mainly the result of the respondents´spontaneous narration, interlinks three related areas. These were detected within the process of the obtained data analysis and comparison. The submitted monography offers a more complex view of pro-environmentally oriented teacher. Exploring the life history of each respondent, enabled us not only to identify the essential factors which influenced the teacher´s biophile orientation, but also to understand deeper his personality and the way of his pedagogical thinking.

Description: Title in English: Why education and its actors fail : Cognitive landscapes and nationalism. Why education reforms are often unsuccessful? Why is the school environment essentially toxic and systemically hindering the education process? Why, despite the sincere efforts of enlightened headmasters and teachers to change the face of the school, is it not actually transforming it? The book shows that reforms only affect the surface of schools. The core of the school institution is governed by rationality, which is associated with the industrial nationalist era. This rationality, at many levels – from state, to regional, to the level of everyday action of all actors – contradicts the structure of the globalizing world, its networking and non-hierarchical nature. In this new world, the institution of the school is still an institution that systematically norms and homogenizes the population and excludes all “inadaptable”. We are on the threshold of a whole new era, but schools sound with the rhythm of the 19th century.

Description: V západní Evropě sice volební volatilita za posledních třicet až čtyřicet let významně narostla, skutečnou explozi voličské nestability ovšem spojujeme se zeměmi bývalého komunistického bloku ve východní Evropě.

Description: Title in English: Methods of causal analysis for measuring the sales support efficiency. In recent years, company costs associated with sales promotion activities have continued to rise in developed economies, and yet many studies show that such sales promotion activities are very often unprofitable, and in many cases even result in losses. One cause of this undesirable phenomenon may be inadequate analytical tools. The use of adequate analytical tools would make it possible to reliably measure the effectiveness of sales promotion activities. The most commonly used analytical tools often lead to biases when estimating the effectiveness of promotion activities. This is because these tools cannot take into account a number of factors which change over time, may affect the profitability indicators and are not controlled when performing an estimate with the common tools. The monograph offers a new approach to estimating baseline sales (i.e. the sales figures as they would be if sales promotion activity had not taken place) using causal analysis methods. The suggested approach removes the bias of an estimator resulting from the change of factors over time, while at the same time it is simple enough to be implemented in common business practice. The monograph also presents the methods of causal analysis. Despite their potential to successfully deal with a number of marketing and management issues, these methods are rarely used, either in the Czech Republic or internationally.

Description: Kolektivní monografie je prvním soustavnějším průzkumem vlastností českého vyprávění v průřezu žánrovým polem a několika desetiletími 19. století.

The monograph takes much more on transforming the contemporary world and its relationship to education and thought. On the example of individual sub-facets, they form a comprehensive critical reflection on how it is possible with the philosophy of information and the philosophy of education. These anniversaries became the impetus for a collective volume entitled Vladislav Vančura in the Literary Context of the 20th Century. The editor Jiří Poláček approached researchers from various disciplines from literary studies to linguistics and to theatre studies with an appeal to think and rethink the literary and general cultural legacy of this important figure. The book volume by the team of researchers from six Czech universities is an attempt to reflect on the oeuvre by Vančura from the perspective of the current state of knowledge in literary studies and the broader context of the 20th century. The image of Vladislav Vančura within the context of the previous century arises from 15 texts by 15 authors, organized into four thematic blocks.

Description: Publikace zkoumá integraci migrantů z lokální perspektivy čtyř zemí, z nichž každá nabízí jinou zkušenost. Cílem je pochopit specifický kontext jednotlivých zemí a najít příležitosti ke vzájemnému učení a sdílení osvědčených postupů.

The publication offers a theoretical analysis of the basic relationships of the above factors and discusses them with the results of the analysis of primary data from companies. The purpose is to clarify to what extent connections assumed in the literature are reflected in the Czech environment and how much they influence the subjective and objective performance of companies. Description: The collective monograph Balkans and migration includes five chapters written by anthropologically oriented researchers (L. Budilová, G. Fatková, L. Hanus, M. Jakoubek, M. Pavlásek) practicing a long-term research in the Balkan territory. In addition to general parameters of anthropological optics and an anthropological field research in the Balkans those particular studies are connected by study transversal theme of migration. While, however, the Balkans and anthropology in the publication are invariant framework guaranteeing the unity of the whole volume, the migration represent in this respect the constant variable. The given phenomenon is studied in case of various groups (Bulgarian and Romanian Czechs, Karakachans), and we can observe some aspects of its heterogeneous nature (post-war migration within the re-emigrant interstate agreements, seasonal labor migration, migration of farmers for the land, leaving the homeland because of religious disputes, etc.). The ambition of the monograph is to justify the relevance to attend to the fieldwork based research in the Balkans, and show why the new generation of anthropologists and other social scientists, practitioners, should pay their professional attention to the Balkan peninsula. Although Western anthropologists have been already focused on the Balkans for few decades, in Czech environment was this theme ignored by anthropologists and ethnographers. They yielded this interest to the political scientists, historians, travelers, and television reporters. This monograph is going to rectify this situation by a series of analyses applying different perspectives of the research. Those analyses are based on the interpretation of ethnographic data collected during the long-term field research. The Balkan peninsula and this terrain inhabiting populations are presented as a stimulating field for Czech anthropological researchers. An attractive topic reflected in those five chapters is the Czech expatriate presence in the Balkans. Until the present time there live several enclaves of Czech compatriots, who actively claim their Czech origin. Those enclaves adapt dynamically to the global political and economic changes. Not only the authors of this monograph have noticed that the science paradigm in the second half of the twentieth century, which is based on a priori national categorization, is not able to capture new social and cultural formations of minority groups living outside their „homeland“. An attempt to overcome the nationalistic classification of Czech (e) migration could be applied and grounded in many identification strategies taking place in the distant past. It seems that the time has come to revise the still dominant scientific approaches to expatriate minorities and expand their attention to the dimensions of collective life reflecting the changes in the last twenty years. The transformation of strategies of Czech expatriate minorities in topologically, economically and politically open Europe (hence the global environment) is a useful platform, where certain phenomena can be observed. Those phenomena produce inspiring issues of sustainability and transformation of collective identities in the contemporary world. Certain marginality of the region including more difficulties in accessibility of resources force the marginal populations to adapt to difficult conditions. These minorities are a good example for monitoring the development of organic solidarity patterns (in Durkheim sense) into more complex social structures, often „aside“ all scientific concepts of collective identification.

Description: Title in English: Effectiveness of the teacher’s work in inclusive education: A self-assessment tool for students of pedagogic fileds For teachers, to be able to fulfill the role “of carrier of change”, he or she must be identified with the idea of education for all, accept responsibility for the education of all his or her students, and be able to recognize and solve any form of exclusion and unequal. At the same time, it turns out that a fundamental factor forming the teachers’ actions in the inclusive classroom is their inner confidence in their own ability to manage individual aspects of educational activities. The tool makes it possible to view the teacher’s work from a distance, learn to reflect on it and create a personal and professional development plan.

Description: Many lives were influenced by the political developments which took place in Czechoslovakia during the twentieth century. Yet with the exception of those “who make history” – people who have left deep traces in the collective memory of the nation – or those select eyewitnesses who have had the opportunity to testify to the “great” people and events in Czech history, the ordinary destinies of individual participants remain overshadowed. Such a selective approach, which is the product of historians’ reliance on the line of official (political) history, can give the false impression of a unified, and thus relatively unproblematic, form of the period under study. In an attempt to counteract this bias, the present publication focuses on reconstructing an alternative image of the period. Using a participants’ experience – the story of an “ordinary twentieth century man” – it focuses on the biography of a native of Prague, aircraft engineer and exile Vincenc Hodek Jr., whose personal and family history between the years 1904–1977 serve as a frame of the presented research. On a theoretical level, the text addresses issues typical of works dealing with history from below; namely the blending, influencing and encountering of the micro and macro perspectives. Thus, even though the present book purposefully prioritizes the personal history of Vincenc Hodek, the starting point for the (re)construction of the period are the events that showed to be of great relevance to the subsequent destinies of the participants. The importance of the context provided by “great” political history, which set the background for the Hodek family’s life, is not downplayed. By taking into account both perspectives and connecting them it is not only possible to trace the individual image of the twentieth century Czechoslovak, as reflected by personal moments of marriage or birth, but also to delineate the individuals’ role in the contemporaneous political-social atmosphere, as can be detected, for example, in Vincenc Hodek’s active participation in the resistance movement against the Nazi occupational power. This publication confirms that the micro perspective, continuously ignored by Czech scholars who have refused to acknowledge the tangible historical matter enfolded within personal accounts, is indeed necessary, alongside macro history, in constructing a comprehensive account of a period. Nevertheless, the book also tackles the problematic aspects of using egodocuments as a relevant historical source. Often criticised for their subjectivity and distortion, ego-documents have regularly been deemed inappropriate for general research. The present book, however, proves that in spite of their theoretical and practical disadvantages, personal histories present an all-encompassing source and, when seeking to present the micro historical perspective, an indispensable source of information that does not devalue the research but, on the contrary, renders a completely new perspective for those chapters of Czech history that have long been considered closed down from the point of view of official sources. The present publication, while not aspiring to relate how the period was perceived by the entire society of the period, represents one of the possible ways of (re)telling twentieth century Czech history. Other than exhibiting the micro historical variability of the period under study, this book also aims to accentuate the possibilities presented by some of the modern theoretical and methodological approaches that, in spite of numerous foreign inspirations, remain rather undervalued within the frame of Czech historical studies.

Description: Obsahem příručky Morfologie je víceméně ucelený popis funkčního tvarosloví současné (zejména spisovné) češtiny; formální morfologii se věnuje jen obecně, neuvádí paradigmata jednotlivých ohýbacích typů ani popisy nepravidelností ve flexi. This handbook, Morphology, presents a relatively comprehensive description of the functional morphology of contemporary (mainly standard) Czech. Formal morphology is covered only on a general level, without presenting paradigms of inflected types and descriptions of inflection irregularities. As concerns morphological categories, it favours a more formal approach as opposed to a semantic one. To a considerable extent, it is based on the common concept of the morphology of Czech as it is explained in available grammar books and compendia (Mluvnice češtiny 2 [Czech Grammar 2], Encyklopedický slovník češtiny [Encyclopaedia of Czech], Příruční mluvnice češtiny [Handbook of Czech Grammar] and Čeština – řeč a jazyk [Czech – the Speech and Language]). This handbook is a university course book; it is intended for the students of the mandatory morphology class which is included in the bachelor level Czech language and literature programme at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague.

Description: Title in English: Towards the Inclusive School: Interaction and Norm Inclusion is not deepening integration. It is a comprehensive response to the transformation of the contemporary world, which takes seriously the fact that diversity is its defining essence. The monograph presents the results of three years of research, from which it follows that well-implemented inclusion positively transforms the atmosphere, teaching methods, and academic outcomes of mainstream schools. Thanks to its principles of inclusion, it frees the educational system from the ideology of the middle class, which, contrary to its own rhetoric, is based on a hierarchical system and favors sameness over the difference. Valuing diversity opens up space for the essential value of a democratic society – the development of the educational potential of each of its members according to their possibilities, needs, and interests while building strong social cohesion and resilience.

Description: Příručka Úvod do lingvistiky a lingvistické bohemistiky je primárně určen pro studenty prvního ročníku bakalářského studia oboru český jazyk a literatura a představuje doprovodný materiál ke stejnojmenné přednášce. The presented textbook is intended primarily for the students in the first year of study of the Bachelor’s programme in Czech Language and Literature as supplementary material to the lecture series of the same name. It aims to present at least some of the most important linguistic terms and notions, those that the students will encounter throughout their study of Czech studies, and outline selected conceptions of the language and the principles of its research. The exposition primarily focuses on general issues in linguistics. The emphasis on Czech studies is manifested mainly in documenting and developing these issues using Czech language material and the results that Czech linguistics have achieved.

Description: Vymezení pojmu pragmatika, lingvistická pragmatika či pragmalingvistika je ve svých základech poněkud rozporné: existuje množství rozmanitých definic. The delimitation of the notion of pragmatics, linguistic pragmatics or pragmalinguistics is rather contradictory in its basis: there are many different definitions. However, the phenomena that are normally included in this term constitute fundamental questions, themes and issues related to communication and the use of language; interest in their examination in linguistics has been growing. Being language users, we have everyday experience with the phenomena examined by pragmatics, their mastery facilitates communication, while difficulties in this area may easily lead to misunderstandings or conflicts. Mastering pragmatics is one of the most difficult areas when learning a foreign language and it is also very difficult to teach this practically. Understanding pragmatic topics can be beneficial not only theoretically, but it can have very positive practical consequences.

Description: Acta Slavica Estonica is an international series of publications on current issues of Russian and other Slavic languages, literatures and cultures. One of the fundamental oppositions of the semiotics of culture – between “own” (native) and “alien” (foreign) – is also important for the language, which is the foundation of any ethnic culture and in which “our own”, originally inherent in a given language, constituting its basis, and elements of the “alien” at different levels of the language always coexist. The articles in this collection make their contribution to the study of the cultural and social characteristics of the language by studying the complex interaction of “own” and “alien” in language and speech.

Description: Title in English: Research in foreign language didactics V This publication presents an empirical research of pronunciation mistakes of Czech students learning German as a second foreign language at elementary school. The aim of the research was to verify the extent of the students’ pronunciation difficulties with German pronunciation phenomena error-prone for Czech native speakers. The research determined in what way these errors manifest themselves in the transfer from the students’ previously acquired languages, i.e. their mother tongue (Czech) and the first foreign language learnt (English). Within the theoretical foundation, the focus is put on different concepts of pronunciation in terms of foreign language teaching objectives, definitions of language errors and their causes, the development of the German pronunciation standard and methodological approaches to error analysis.
