    Description: Auf den Märkten für medizinische Leistungen und in der Beziehung zwischen Arzt und Patient existieren Informationsasymmetrien in einer Vielzahl, wie sie in kaum einem anderen Bereich einer Ökonomie anzutreffen sind. In der Arbeit wird die beidseitige Informationsasymmetrie zwischen Arzt und Patient untersucht. Zum einen geschieht dies hinsichtlich des Einflusses von Änderungen der Vertragsparameter auf die medizinische Leistung und das Verhalten des Patienten. Zum anderen betrifft dies die Wahl der Versicherungs- und Vergütungsparameter. Ergänzend wird die Arzt-Patient-Beziehung mittels einer empirischen Analyse untersucht. In deren Mittelpunkt stehen die Determinanten der Gesundheitszufriedenheit des Patienten und dabei insbesondere die Inanspruchnahme medizinischer Leistungen.

    Description: Das vorliegende Open-Access-Buch leistet einen zusammenhängenden theoretischen, methodischen und empirischen Beitrag zum Verständnis von Informationsverarbeitung in Gruppen. Menschen nutzen und verarbeiten Medieninhalte häufig gemeinsam. Trotzdem gibt es erst wenig und vornehmlich auf die Individualebene fokussierte Forschung zu kollektiver Medienrezeption bzw. kollektiver Informationsverarbeitung im Allgemeinen. Als theoretischer Beitrag wird das Model of Collective Information Processing (MCIP) entwickelt. Es verknüpft Erkenntnisse zu Gruppenprozessen mit Erkenntnissen zu individueller Informationsverarbeitung und unterscheidet zwischen verschiedenen kollektiven Verarbeitungsmodi. Anschließend wird als methodischer Beitrag ein standardisiertes Befragungsinstrument ausgearbeitet, das von Kleingruppen beantwortet werden kann. Dieses wird im Rahmen eines Mixed-Methods-Designs mithilfe qualitativer Beobachtungen und Gruppendiskussionen getestet, validiert und weiterentwickelt. Als zentraler empirischer Beitrag wird schließlich eine Onlinebefragung von n = 182 natürlichen Kleingruppen zu den Einflussfaktoren, Eigenschaften und Auswirkungen kollektiver Medienrezeption durchgeführt. Damit versucht die vorliegende Arbeit nicht nur unmittelbar Wissen über Informationsverarbeitung in Gruppen zu generieren, sondern auch mittelbar zu mehr Gruppenforschung zu inspirieren und motivieren.

    Description: In der Auseinandersetzung um die Freisetzung und Kompensation von Arbeitskräften im Zuge des technischen Fortschritts wird seit den Schriften von David Ricardo und Adam Smith auf die Diffusion von Innovationen hingewiesen. Sie wird jedoch selten explizit in den Disput um technologische Arbeitslosigkeit einbezogen. Die systematische Berücksichtigung der Diffusion gehört daher zu den vernachlässigten Aspekten der Analyse technologischer Arbeitslosigkeit. Demgegenüber existiert seit den 50er Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts eine Diffusionstheorie, die sich mit den Determinanten der Ausbreitung von Innovationen beschäftigt. Der Autor setzt sich kritisch mit der Verbindung der makroökonomischen Debatte um die Beschäftigungswirkungen und der mikroökonomischen Analyse der Ausbreitung des technischen Fortschritts auseinander. Ziel der Arbeit ist es, zu einer Mikrofundierung der makroökonomischen Kompensations- und Freisetzungsdebatte beizutragen.

    Description: Der dynamischen Analyse der längerfristigen Wirkungen expansiver Fiskalpolitik ist ein nachfrageorientiertes Modell mit staatlicher Budgetbeschränkung (Blinder-Solow-Modell) zugrundegelegt. Es wird gezeigt, dass ein längerfristiges Gleichgewicht mit ausgeglichenem öffentlichen Budget bei reiner Kredit-(Bond-)Finanzierung öffentlicher Defizite nicht bzw. nur unter unrealistischen Annahmen erreicht wird. Werden in der Finanzierungsphase Massnahmen zur Konsolidierung des öffentlichen Haushalts durchgeführt, wirken - je nach Finanzierungsart - ursprünglich expansiv angelegte fiskalpolitische Massnahmen längerfristig möglicherweise sogar kontraktiv.

Sie befürchten, dass die Effizienzregeln der OT in der Hand eines Steuerstaates zur perfekten Ausbeutung der Steuerzahler missbraucht werden könnten. Die positive Analyse des demokratischen Steuerreformprozesses belegt, dass eine effiziente und gerechte Besteuerung der Zensiten nur durch eine Steuerverfassung gewährleistet werden kann. Der Autor entwickelt u.a. eine Verfassungsregel, die eine norminkonsistente Vergabe von Steuerprivilegien verhindern soll.

    Description: Die ökonomische Föderalismustheorie auf der Basis der Arbeiten von Musgrave und Oates ordnet Verteilungskompetenzen grundsätzlich der Zentralebene zu. Unter Berufung auf diese Arbeiten wird auch die Ausweitung der Verteilungskompetenzen der EG gefordert. An diesen traditionellen Föderalismusmodellen wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit Kritik geübt und folgend ein wohlfahrtstheoretisches Modell entwickelt, in dem jede Ebene Verteilungskompetenzen in bezug auf die direkt untergeordneten Wirtschaftseinheiten besitzt. Mit Blick auf die konkreten Fragen der Verteilungspolitik in der EG läßt sich daraus der Schluß ziehen, daß die EG nur interregional verteilungspolitisch tätig werden sollte; interpersonelle Verteilungspolitik fiele dementsprechend ausschließlich in die Kompetenz der Mitgliedstaaten.

    Description: This book develops a new theoretical approach to the explanation of systemic financial crises in industrial and emerging market countries. In contrast to standard models, the present 〈I〉cyclical〈/I〉 approach is consistent with the following three stylized facts. Firstly, systemic financial crises are a recurrent phenomenon generally accompanied by excessive boom-bust cycles. Secondly, the frequency of financial crisis cycles is very irregular. Thirdly, most financial crisis cycles are initiated by positive shocks to profit expectations which induce an unsustainable build-up of financial fragility driven by 〈I〉irrational exuberance〈/I〉. The present approach is based on a sophisticated balancesheet structure with many assets, as well as on an expectation formation scheme which combines the rational expectations hypothesis with Keynes’ 〈I〉Beauty Contest Theory〈/I〉.

Anschließend geht es um die Frage, ob die erfolgten Reformen dem aktuellen Stand der Forschung gerecht werden. Dabei wird besonders auf die Rolle von Unsicherheit eingegangen, die in früheren Modellen nicht und damit im Prozess der politischen Beratung kaum berücksichtigt wurde. Schließlich bietet die Arbeit mit einer umfassenden empirischen Bestandsaufnahme erstmals einen Überblick zum Altersvorsorgestatus im Drei-Schichten-Modell.     Description: Obwohl die intermediären Finanzgewalten (Parafisci) seit den zwanziger Jahren an Bedeutung gewonnen haben, finden sie bislang wenig Berücksichtigung in der finanzwissenschaftlichen Literatur. Auf diese Lücke zielt das vorliegende Buch. Mit einem integrierten Ansatz, der die Ergebnisse einer dogmenhistorischen Betrachtungsweise der Staatstätigkeit aufgreift und ökonomische, gesellschaftliche und staatspolitische Kriterien miteinander verknüpft, werden die Parafisci sowohl gegenüber dem Staat als auch gegenüber den Privaten «zumindest qualitativ» abgegrenzt. Am Beispiel der Kirchen in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland wird ausführlich gezeigt, wie die theoretisch erarbeiteten Kriterien anzuwenden sind. Diese Ausführungen beinhalten eine konsequente, bislang nirgends dargestellte Diskussion des gesamten Tätigkeitsbereichs der Kirchen aus ökonomischem Blickwinkel.

    Description: The intention of the author was (...) to prove that the terminativity / aterminativity - as a "covert" category - is the semantic basis and generator of the Russian verbal aspect, thus de facto controlling the whole mechanism of the Russian aspect system - education , Meaning and use of the aspect. In order to largely objectify the profound semantic analysis required for this, we have decomposed the most general semantic properties of the verbs and the aspectual context into differential semantic features and arranged them in algorithmic form. Thus, we were able to follow the interaction of the general meanings of the aspect with the T / AT through the linguistic subsystems of aspect formation and the special aspect meanings. This algorithmic analysis as the main method of our investigation has u.E. In a convincing way many previously contentious questions have been solved, and common views have been confirmed or refuted.
    Description: Das Anliegen des Autors war es (...), den Nachweis zu erbringen, daß die Terminativität / Aterminativität - als "verdeckte" Kategorie - semantische Basis und Generator des russischen Verbalaspekts ist, also de facto den gesamten Mechanismus des russischen Aspektsystems steuert - Bildung, Bedeutung und Gebrauch des Aspekts. Um die dazu notwendige tiefgehende semantische Analyse weitgehend zu objektivieren, haben wir die allgemeinsten semantischen Eigenschäften der Verben und des aspektualen Kontextes in differentielle semantische Merkmale zerlegt und in algorithmischer Form angeordnet. Damit konnten wir das Zusammenwirken der Allgemeinbedeutungen des Aspekts mit der T/AT durch die sprachlichen Subsysteme der Aspektbildung und der speziellen Aspektbedeutungen verfolgen. Diese algorithmische Analyse als Hauptmethode unserer Untersuchung hat u.E. in überzeugender Weise viele bisher strittige Fragen einer Lösung zugeführt, gängige Auffassungen bestätigt oder widerlegt.

Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, jenseits klassischer Raumtheorie diesen Bereich der sprachlichen Verfasstheit wissenschaftlicher Texte und der damit verknüpften Sprach- und Bildlogik zu untersuchen, um einen bislang wenig beobachteten Bereich der metatheoretischen Selbstbeobachtung und Selbstbeschreibung der Philosophie sichtbar zu machen und interdiskursive Zusammenhänge und Traditionslinien aufzuzeigen.

    Description: Latente Variable, die beobachtbare Variable beeinflussen, selbst aber nicht direkt beobachtbar sind, entweder weil die beobachtbaren Größen mit Meßfehlern behaftet sind oder weil sie selbst direkt beobachtbaren und meßbaren Variablen nicht direkt entsprechen, wurden lange Zeit in der modernen Ökonometrie nicht beachtet. Besondere Bedeutung kommt der Verwendung von latenten Variablen zu, wenn die unternehmerischen Erwartungen im Rahmen eines simultanen Entscheidungsbildungsprozesses auf der Grundlage von quantitativem und qualitativem Datenmaterial modelliert werden. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird die Theorie linearer latenter Kovarianzstrukturmodelle mit gemischtverteilten qualitativen und quantitativen Indikatoren und stetigen normalverteilten latenten Faktoren auf ein empirisches Preis- und Produktionsplanungsmodell mit Lagerhaltung übertragen. Im Vordergrund steht die Frage, welche Bedeutung die Existenz von Lager- und/oder Auftragsbeständen im Rahmen der intertemporalen Entscheidungsbildung besitzt, wenn insbesondere Unsicherheit in den Erwartungen über die künftige kurz- bzw. langfristige Entwicklung der innen- und außenwirtschaftlichen Nachfrage sowie der Kostenfaktoren besteht. Im Rahmen eines komparativ-statistischen und dynamischen latenten Strukturansatzes wird anschließend das Unternehmensverhalten von deutschen und französischen Unternehmen international vergleichend analysiert.

She advocates a change of perspective: away from a problem discourse towards a perspective of the elective affinity of sociology with society.
    Description: Ein Teil der Soziologie will sich seit jeher von jeglicher Einmischung in die Praxis distanzieren, ein anderer Teil in die Gesellschaft hineinwirken. Im ersten Fall begreift die Soziologie sich als Wissenschaft, die von Außen auf die Gesellschaft schaut. Im zweiten Fall kann sie sich ihrer Zugehörigkeit zur Gesellschaft nicht entziehen. Was jedoch bedeuten diese vermeintlich widersprüchlichen Ziele für Soziolog*innen und was sagt das über das Fach selbst aus? Natalie Mevissen untersucht das Verhältnis der Soziologie zur Gesellschaft mit Hilfe hermeneutischer Interviewanalysen und formuliert zugleich Bedingungen für eine theoretisch wie methodologisch fundierte Wissenschaftssoziologie der Soziologie. Sie plädiert für einen Perspektivwechsel: weg von einem Problemdiskurs hin zu einer Perspektive der Wahlverwandtschaft der Soziologie mit der Gesellschaft.

Im Rahmen einer politisch-ökonomischen Analyse werden die allokativen und distributiven Konsequenzen des Wettbewerbs von Interessengruppen um gruppenspezifische Verteilungsvorteile untersucht. Dabei wird insbesondere auf die Interdependenz von distributiven Gruppeninteressen und politischem Entscheidungsverhalten eingegangen. Zur Lösung des Verteilungsdilemmas werden Reformvorschläge für den politischen Entscheidungsprozeß entwickelt, die eine Neuorientierung der Ordnungspolitik in demokratischen Staatswesen implizieren.

Eine empirische Untersuchung gibt zudem Aufschluss über die wesentlichen Determinanten eines guten Gesundheitsverhaltens sowie einer guten Gesundheit als Voraussetzung für stetiges Wirtschaftswachstum.

Um dieses Fehlverständnis zu entlarven, bedürfen die Begriffe neuer theoretischer Grundlegung. Diese Zielsetzung verfolgt die vorliegende Studie. Dabei wird zwischen wirtschaftstheoretischen und steuerlichen Begriffen unterschieden und ferner eine strikte analytische Trennung des allokativen vom distributiven Bereich des Wirtschaftens eingehalten. Das Ergebnis ist die Forderung nach einer Personalbesteuerung gemäß dem Leistungsfähigkeitspostulat, die kategorisch abzuspalten ist von der Unternehmensbesteuerung gemäß der Ertragsfähigkeit.

    Description: Die Arbeit stellt zunächst das Interventionsverhalten der Notenbanken seit 1973 und die zugrundeliegenden Eingriffsgründe dar. Daran schließt sich eine umfangreiche theoretische und empirische Analyse der Interventionswirkungen an. Zielsetzung der Studie ist es, die bereits vorliegenden Untersuchungsergebnisse zu bündeln und zu einem Urteil darüber zu kommen, in welchen Situationen Interventionen wirksam und sinnvoll sein können. Dazu wird auch das Verhalten der Devisenmarktteilnehmer und die Effizienz des Devisenmarktes zusammenfassend betrachtet. Auf der Basis sowohl theoretischer Analyse als auch empirischer Beobachtungen kommt die Arbeit zu dem Schluß, daß Interventionen sehr kurzfristig Erwartungen der Devisenmarktteilnehmer beeinflussen können. Dieser Einfluß ist jedoch von vielen Faktoren, u.a. der Glaubwürdigkeit der Notenbank, abhängig.

    Notes: Mixing Functions of the Binary System N-Methylcaprolactam - n-TetradecaneThe liquid-liquid equilibria(LLE) and the vapour-liquid equilibria(VLE) at 60°C were measured in the binary system N-methylcaprolactam (1) - n-tetradecane (2). The enthalpy of mixing HE of the same system was extrapolated from HE - measurements of N-methylcaprolactam with other alkanes. The limiting activity coefficients f∞1 and f∞2 were obtained by extrapolation from values of resp. in other alkanes. For a comparison the vapour pressures of the mixture were calculated by model equations with constants from the two limiting activity coefficients and with temperature dependent constants extracted from the LLE and HE measurements.

Both thioethers crystallize in the monoclinic system with the following crystal data. Dithia-[12]crown-4: a = 751.7(1), b = 1010.4(1), c = 1639.8(2) pm, β = 95.08(1)°, Z = 4, space group P21/n; dithia[12]crown-5: a = 1169.9(3), b = 916.7(3), c = 1414.1(4)pm, β = 92.51(2)°, Z = 4, space group P21/c. The structures were refined to final R = 0.048 (Rw = 0.031) and 0.040 (0.046), respectively. They are characterized by their structural parameters (bond lengths and angles, torsion angles, l.s. planes) and discussed in special consideration of the ring conformation and the geometric arrangement of the donor atoms.

    Notes: Acylation of Tautomerizable C-Amino-Azoles with Amidine or Guanidine StructureAmino-azoles can react with electrophiles to give different regioisomers. Stable ringacylated isomers were isolated at low temperatures and under neutral conditions. Acyl migrations are obtained at higher temperatures and under basic conditions to form the thermodynamic stable isomers.The different isomers can be characterized by mean of 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, IR and mass spectrometry.The results obtained enable us to correct some confusions in the literature about the regioselectivity of the acylation of amino-azoles.

    Notes: The indolo-2,3-quinodimethane (5), generated from 2,3-bis(bromomethyl)indole (4), was trapped with unsymmetrical carbodienophiles or N, N′-p-phenylenedimaleimide to furnish the 1,2,3,4-tetrahydrocarbazoles (6-9). [4 + 2]-Cycloaddition of 5 with tetracyanoethylene gave rise to the tetracyanocarbazole (10) and a subsequent product 11a or 11b. The Diels-Alder reaction of 5 with divinyl sulfone was regiospecific within the detection limits of HPLC analysis. Similarly, the reaction of 5 with N, N′-p-phenylenedimaleimide yielded solely the stereoisomer 9.

Reductive methylation of the nitro groups afforded the dimethylaminophthalides 5a-d which in turn were reacted with MeMgI or in the case of 5d reduced by LiAlH4 leading finally to the title compounds.

    Notes: The regioselectivity ratio RS = normal: abnormal opening of activated 2-methylaziridines 2 by nucleophiles is found to range from 0.10 to unmeasurable large (only normal opening = substitution at CH2 by strongly basic carbanions). RS is assumed to result from SN2 variants differing in the degree to which bond breaking is ahead of bond making including perhaps synchronous SN2. Bond breaking will be more ahead for the N-CMe bond. High nucleophilic power pushes bond making toward a synchronous process resulting in great RS. The decrease in RS with acyl activation relative to sulfonyl activation is in accord with a flattening of the nitrogen pyramid (planarization effect). The planarization effect is retained in acidic medium by O-protonation: Rs 0.10-0.14 for methanolysis as compared to RS 0.43 for N-protonated sulfonylaziridine 2h. AM1 calculations support the planarization hypothesis. - No indication for SET with trityl anion was found.

Photochemical Acyl Migration in N-Tosyl-β-aminovinyl-phenyl-ketonesN-Tosyl-β-aminovinyl-phenyl-ketones 1a - i are prepared in good yields from β-chlorovinyl- phenyl-ketones by reaction with the sodium salts of tosyl amides in dry DMF at room temperature. In contrast to the relatively photostable N, N-dialkyl-β-aminovinyl-aryl-ketones the electronically excited 1 give irreversible chemical reactions within a few minutes. Among other not identified photoproducts the α-tosyl-β-aminovinyl-phenyl-ketones 2 were found. From the experimental results it is evident that the migration of the tosyl group prefers a radical-type two step reaction through an intermediate X/Y of a (1,5)-N→O-tosylrearrangement.

The support systems were prepared by impregnation of SiO2 (Grace), SiO2/4% Al2O3 (Kali Chemie), SiO2/11% Al2O3 (Kali Chemie) and Al2O3 (Kali Chemie) using Co2(CO)8 and CpCo(CO)2 solutions in pentane, dichlormethane and 2-chlorpropane.The results are discussed with regard to some measured relevant support characteristics. The turn over numbers especially those of silica-gel- and silica-alumina-gel supported Co2(CO)8 and CpCo(CO)2 show positive effects in relation to a heterogeneous catalytic process within these reactions.

    Notes: Kinetic Investigation of the Platinum-catalysed Hydrosilylation of Vinylsiloxanes with HydrogensiloxanesA kinetic investigation of the platinum-catalysed hydrosilylation of monofunctional oligomeric vinylsiloxanes by monofunctional oligomeric hydrogensiloxanes was performed under stoichiometric conditions with use of quantitative 1H-NMR spectrometry. The reaction rate up to 50% conversion can be expressed by v=k [Pt]. During further hydrosilylation the kinetic changed to second order. No induction period was observed. A hydrogensiloxane with a dimethylsilyl end group gives much higher rates than a siloxane with a methylsiloxy group. The main reactions of all hydrosilylations, determined by GC-MS and 29Si-NMR, are β-additions. Less then 5% α-products are obtained.

    Notes: Investigation on the Kinetics of Diffusion of Ethene on 4A ZeolitesThe kinetics of diffusion of ethene on 4A zeolites was examined. Conclusions on the transport mechanism were obtained by the loading dependence on the diffusion coefficients. Contrary to propene and the n-butene isomers, ethene can cross the windows to the cavities blocked up by Na+ ions in the NaA and Me0,22+Na0,8A zeolites (Me = Mg, Ca, Zn, Ba) by a translatory jump motion. In NaKA zeolites - by reason of additional blocking up of windows with K+ ions - the ethene molecules overcome the barrier only through the ethene/Na+(1) addition complexes.

    Notes: New Pyoverdin Siderophores from Pseudomonas putida CFour new pyoverdins (C 2A, C 2B, C 3A, C 3B) were isolated from cultures of Pseudomonas putida C. Their structures were elucidated by chemical and spectroscopic methods. The compounds consist of a chromophore - (1S)-5-amino-2,3-dihydro-8,9-dihydroxy-1H-pyrimido [1,2-a]quinoline-1-carboxylic acid - substituted at the amino group with a dicarboxylic acid or its amide. The carboxyl group of the chromophore is amidically bound to the N-terminus of L-Asp-D-[N5-hydroxy-N5-(D-β-hydroxybutyryl)] Orn-D-Dab-L-Thr-Gly-D-Ser-L-Ser-L-threo-β-hydroxy-Asp-L-Thr. The four pyoverdins differ only in the nature of the dicarboxylic acid (amide), viz. L-malamoyl- (C 2A), succinamoyl- (C 2B), L-3-carboxy-2-hydroxypropanoyl- (C 3A) or 3-carboxypropanoyl (C 3B) residue. The hydroxamate function consists of N5-hydroxy-Orn and β-hydroxybutyric acid, a structural unit which has been encountered for the first time in a pyoverdin.

    Notes: Water soluble palladium(II) complexes of the type PdCl2(phosphine)2 with sulfonated phosphines as ligands catalyse the reductive dehalogenation of allyl or benzyl halogenides by means of formates in a biphasic water/heptane system. This reaction can be promoted by addition of polyethers of different types as phase transfer catalysts. Enhancement of reaction rate and control of selectivity are investigated in the reductive conversion of (E)-Ph-CH = CHCH2Cl leading to (E)-Ph-CH = CH-CH3 and Ph-CH2-CH = CH2.

    Notes: A systematic synthesis of phenolic trimers used as oligomeric resins in photolithography is possible. The percentage of by-products was determined by gel permeation chromatography and 1H-n.m.r. spectroscopy. The by-product content could be kept low (≤12%) by means of an improved and reproduceable synthetic technique described in this paper. Some selected properties of the products, potentialities and limits of analytical investigation are discussed.

    Notes: The reaction of ethyl N-(6-ethoxycarbonyl-2-methyl-thiothieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-5-yl)formimidate (1) with methyl-hydrazine, N,N′-dimethyl- and N,N′-diphenylhydrazines separately in refluxing ethanol resulted in hydrolysis of formimidate group to give ethyl 5-amino-2-methylthiothieno[2,3-d] pyrimidine-6-carboxylate (2). The reaction on 1 with methyl-hydrazine without solvent afforded ethyl 5-amino-2-(1-methyl-hydrazino)thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6-carboxylate (3), which underwent hydrazone formation with p-nitrobenzaldehyde to give 4. Treatment of 1 with N,N-dimethylhydrazine afforded a mixture of 3-dimethylamino-7-methylthiothieno[2,3-d:4,5-d']dipyrimidin-4(3H)-one (5) and 2. Displacement of methylthio group in 5 with morpholine, piperidine and 4-methylpiperazine gave the corresponding 7-substituted derivatives 6a-c. The reaction of 1 with para-substituted phenylhydrazines resulted in the formation of 3-(p-substituted phenylamino)7-methylthiothieno[2,3-d:4,5-d']dipyrimidin-4 (3H)ones (7a-c).

    Notes: Free Radical Reactions of N-Heterocyclic Compounds. XIII. Oxidation of Cyclic Hydrazo Compounds with 2,4,6-Tri-tert-butyl-phenoxy Radical and Reactions of Radical Combination ProductsN-Heterocyclic compounds 1a, b containing the hydrazo structure were oxidized with 2,4,6-tri-tert-butyl-phenoxy radical (2). It was shown that the oxidation did not lead to the azo compounds 5a, b, but rather to radical combination products 6a, b of 2 via the intermediate hydrazyls 4a, b. The decomposition of adducts 6a, b was found to be similar to the reaction of radical combination products of aryl hydrazyls and CH-acidic compounds. The main reactions consisted of cleavage to starting radicals or elimination of isobutene forming the respective phenolic compounds 13a-c.

    Notes: 2,4,5-Triphenyloxazole - New Preparative Pathway and Properties in Photoinduced Electron Transfer ReactionsThe reaction between desylchloride and sodium azide in boiling methanole leads to 2,4,5-triphenyl oxazole (TPO) c in good yields. This new synthetic course can be used for the synthesis of other triaryl substituted oxazoles too. The shortlived excited singlet state of TPO acts as electron donor (towards several types of onium compounds) and as electron acceptor (towards triethanole amine), and is quenched very efficiently.The photo-induced electron transfer reaction with onium salts results in the homolytic decomposition of the neutral radicals of these compounds with moderate quantum yields. All systems investigated can be used as photo-initiators for the free radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate.

    Notes: The photooxygenation of 4-methoxy-7-methyl-5 H-furo[3,2-g][1]benzopyran-5-one (Visnagin, 1) in methanol in absence and in presence of a sensitizer (methylene blue) has been studied, 6-Formyl-7-hydroxy-5-methoxy-2-methylchromone (4a), methyl 7-hydroxy-5-methoxy-2-methylchromone-6-carboxylate (4b) and 7-hydroxy-5-methoxy-2-methylchromone-6-carboxylic acid (4c) could be isolated and identified in each case. The formation can be interpreted in terms of intermediate production of a 1.2-dioxetane like 2.A comparative study on the ozonolysis of Visnagin (1) in ethyl acetate both in absence and in presence of dimethyl sulfide, was also undertaken. Ozone attacks 1 either at the furan ring (to give 4a, c) or at both the furan and γ-pyrone site (to afford 10). Possible reaction mechanisms are considered and the structures of the new products are based upon compatible and spectroscopic evidences.

    Notes: The acidity constants (pKa) in the ground, excited singlet and triplet state of 10-methylacridone have been studied in the 80% water and 20% ethanol sulfuric acid solutions. The pKa, pKa*(S) and pKa*(T) were determined to be -1.04 ±0.02, 1.10 ± 0.05 and 3.46 ± 0.10 at 23°C by means of the UV absorption, the fluorescence and the T-T absorption measurement in various acid concentrations.
