    Description: In dieser Arbeit wurden unterschiedliche, aktuell verfügbare Hochtemperatursupraleiter aus YBa2Cu3O7-x, sogenannte YBCO-Bandleiter, für die Verwendung in supraleitenden resistiven Strombegrenzern systematisch untersucht.Auf Grundlage dieser Untersuchungen wurde ein allgemeiner Entwurfsgang mit zugehörigen Entwurfsgleichungen erstellt sowie ein konzeptioneller Entwurf eines Strombegrenzer-Prototypen für die 10 kV-Mittelspannungsebene durchgeführt mit Abschätzung der Investitionskosten.

A proposta dos autores é a de retornar ao pensamento sartreano, tão caro a Milton. Pensamento que expressa em Esboço de uma teoria das emoções, no qual “... uma emoção remete ao que ela significa. E, o que ela significa é a totalidade das relações da realidade-humana com o mundo”, através da “...queda brusca da consciência no mágico".

    Personalised body counter calibration using anthropometric parameters (2021)

    Description: This book describes the development of a new method for personalisation of efficiency factors in partial body counting. Its achieved goal is the quantification of uncertainties in those factors due to variation in anatomy of the measured persons, and their reduction by correlation with anthropometric parameters. The method was applied to a detector system at the In Vivo Measurement Laboratory at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology using Monte Carlo simulation and computational phantoms.

    Description: Die globalen Entwicklungen geben Anlass zu vorsichtigen Hoffnungen auf eine zumindest virtuell durch die Datenmobilität der elektronischen Netze verbundene Weltgesellschaft; sie erfordern jedoch auch eine kritische Beschäftigung mit dem Phänomen der zunehmenden Mobilität von Menschen, sei es politisch durch weltweite Wanderbewegungen der Migration, aufgrund von Kriegszuständen oder schlechter sozialer und wirtschaftlicher Bedingungen, sei es durch die extensive Reiselust gerade der deutschen Bevölkerung, die zu neuen Welterfahrungen wie zu verkehrs- und umweltpolitischen Fragen führt.Mobilität zwischen Reiselust und neuen Anforderungen der Arbeitswelt, zwischen Umweltproblemen und globaler Kommunikation, zwischen räumlicher Veränderung, z.B. durch die Osterweiterung der Europäischen Union, und künstlerischer Horizonterweiterung der neue Band der Problemkreise der Angewandten Kulturwissenschaft behandelt aus interdisziplinärer Perspektive das Spektrum der Mobilität in einer globalisierten Welt und zeigt auch die Relativität der eurozentrischen Position in einer globalen Welt, denn wie es der Eröffnungsbeitrag von Hermann Lübbe bereits im Titel anmerkt der Globus hat kein Zentrum.

For the first time, this book combines a depiction of the evolution of the library of the ""Polytechnische Schule"" (polytechnic institute) to the university library in combination with the development of the ""Literaturabteilung"" (literature department) of the ""Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe"" (Karlsruhe Research Centre). From these historic roots has grown a high-performance service center for information and communication media. The present survey of the library history shows how innovation has become a tradition at KIT-Library.

    Description: Electrode microstructures of a high energy and a high power lithium-ion cell were analyzed in 3D using tomographic methods. Calculation of structural parameters enabled a quantitative comparison of the electrodes. To simulate their electrochemical behavior a finite element model was developed which, for the first time, includes a real particle size distribution. This allowed for an identification of the limiting mechanisms during charging and discharging in the electrodes of both cells.

    Description: Die Jahrestagungen der Gesellschaft für Mineralstoffe und Spurenelemente e .V. (GMS) behandeln Themen an den Schnittstellen zwischen Medizin, Ernährung, Biologie, Chemie und Umwelt. Dieses Buch präsentiert die Beiträge zur 28. Jahrestagung der GMS am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie. Unter dem Motto „Nutzen-Risiko-Bewertung von Mineralstoffen und Spurenelementen: Biochemische, physikalische und toxikologische Aspekte“ wurden neueste Erkenntnisse aus dem Bereich der Spurenelemente präsentiert. Am Beispiel von Zink, Selen, Jod und Eisen wurden biochemische Funktionen, eine optimale Aufnahme/Versorgung sowie Interaktionen zwischen diesen Spurenelementen dargestellt. Andererseits müssen aber auch möglicherweise toxische Wirkungen von Spurenelementen infolge von Überversorgung, beispielsweise durch Nahrungsergänzungsmittel oder angereicherte Lebensmittel, in Betracht gezogen und durch entsprechende Grenzwertsetzung berücksichtigt werden. Toxische Wirkungen können zudem als Folge unphysiologischer Aufnahmewege auftreten; Beispiele sind die Neurotoxizität von Mangan und schädigende Wirkungen von Kupfer-basierten Nanopartikeln. Für Arsen standen der Metabolismus sowie die Speziesabhängigkeit toxischer Effekte im Fokus des Interesses. Die Zusammenschau analytischer, biochemischer und toxikologischer Aspekte liefert einen Eindruck über das spannende Forschungsgebiet der Spurenelemente.

Ele compara as concepções latino-americanas de "raça" com as concepções dominantes nas ciências sociais, centradas em contextos determinados por identidades branco-negro claramente definidas, formuladas na base da situação dos Estados Unidos e da Europa do Noroeste. Sansone sugere que o estudo de noções de identidade e cultura mais complexas e até "ambíguas", certamente contribui para uma compreensão mais universal das tensões etno-raciais e de por que o pensamento racial continua tão forte. Der Autor Klaus-Peter Hoepke (gestorben 2004) beschreibt die Geschicke der 1825 als Polytechnische Schule eingerichteten Institution von den ersten Anfängen über die wegweisende Entwicklung zur Technischen Hochschule bis zur heutigen Universität Karlsruhe (TH). Als Historiker und Leiter des Universitätsarchivs hat er die Entwicklung der Fridericiana über drei Jahrzehnte begleitet und ihre Geschichte in intensiver Quellenarbeit erschlossen. Mit seinem postum veröffentlichten Buch wird jetzt die Summe dieser Arbeit vorgelegt. Die Universitätsgeschichte erscheint eingebettet in den jeweiligen politisch-historischen und ihren wissenschaftsgeschichtlichen Kontext. Auf diese Weise wird der Leser über strukturelle Entwicklungen ebenso informiert wie über herausragende Leistungen forschender und lehrender Persönlichkeiten der Hochschulgeschichte. In flüssigem Stil und immer verständlich erzählend werden nicht nur die markanten Wendepunkte der Universitätsgeschichte verdeutlicht, sondern zugleich die dabei wirksamen Ideen und Antriebe nachvollziehbar gemacht.
