    Description: The central issue Bush finds in these works is how their authors have dealt with the authority of Mormon Church leaders. As she puts it in her preface, "I use the phrase 'faithful transgression' to describe moments in the texts when each writer, explicitly or implicitly, commits herself in writing to trust her own ideas and authority over official religious authority while also conceiving of and depicting herself to be a 'faithful' member of the Church." Bush recognizes her book as her own act of faithful transgression. Writing it involved wrestling, she states, "with my own deeply ingrained religious beliefs and my equally compelling education in feminist theories that mean to liberate and empower women." Faithful Transgressions examines a remarkable group of authors and their highly readable and entertaining books. In producing the first significant book-length study of Mormon women's autobiographical writing, Bush rides a wave of memoir publishing and academic interest in autobiography and other life narratives. As she elucidates these works in relation to the religious tradition that played a major role in shaping them, she not only positions them in relation to feminist theory and current work on women's life writings but ties them to the long literary tradition of spiritual autobiography.

    Description: After a long process, the reopening of Milanese canals has become one of the fundamental actions of the Town Plan approved in 2019. A strategic project that plans to reactivate the covered section of the Naviglio Martesana and the Cerchia Interna, reuniting Adda and Ticino rivers, and give new life to the great Renaissance project that Leonardo himself had worked on. In its methodological approach and in the specific outcome achieved, we can recognize elements of continuity with Leonardo’s thinking and contribute to a territorialist reflection on its current relevance.

    Description: In diesem Open-Access-Buch geht der Autor der Frage nach, warum Technik als wesentlicher Bestandteil der Kultur in der Bildung nur eine untergeordnete Bedeutung hat und begründet mit Hilfe technikphilosophischer Analysen einen Kulturreihenansatz für die Auswahl von Inhalten für den Technikunterricht. Aus dem Doppelauftrag von Schule, Persönlichkeitsbildung und Enkulturation wird zunächst ein Interaktionsmodell für Bildung und Erziehung abgeleitet. Das Problem der Inhaltsauswahl jeder Fachdidaktik wird mit einem Modell zur Verknüpfung von Allgemeiner Didaktik und Fachwissenschaften gelöst. Darin wird die Technikphilosophie als fehlende Bezugswissenschaft identifiziert, um Aussagen zum Wesen der Technik zu ermöglichen. Durch die Analyse technikphilosophischer Ansätze wird der Technikbegriff um eine ästhetische und eine Sinn- und Wertperspektive erweitert. Aus diesem Technikbegriff ergeben sich pädagogische Perspektiven für den Technikunterricht, die schließlich über einen Kulturreihenansatz zu einem Kern Technischer Allgemeinbildung führen. Durch den Kulturreihenansatz wird begründet umrissen, wie die kulturelle Bedeutung der Technik bildungswirksam werden kann.

    Description: Dieser Sammelband setzt sich mit den Deutschlandbildern in Belgien bis zum Beginn der deutschen Okkupation im Jahre 1940 auseinander. Betrachtet werden diese aus Sicht unterschiedlicher Geisteswissenschaften wie Philosophie, Literatur, Geschichte, Kunstgeschichte und Musikwissenschaft. Die traditionellen Topoi der deutschen Imagologie, die überall in Europa eine große Resonanz gefunden haben (das romantische Deutschland, das Land der Dichter und Denker, aber ab dem Krieg von 1870 auch das preußische Feindbild), werden dabei in Betracht gezogen. Konstitutiv für den Prozess der Identitätsbildung in Belgien bis zum Ersten Weltkrieg war die deutsch-germanische Komponente, die in der Metapher der sog. âme belge als Kultursynthese zum Ausdruck kam. Der Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkriegs hat hier besonders traumatisch gewirkt, was zur Folge hatte, dass diese partielle „Zugehörigkeit“ Belgiens zur deutschen Kultursphäre drastisch neuevaluiert wurde, unabhängig von der Schaffung eines deutschsprachigen Gebiets in Belgien durch den Versailler Vertrag.

    Description: Dans sa Démonolâtrie (1595), le procureur général de Lorraine, Nicolas Remy, estime que « Les sorciers appartiennent la plupart du temps au monde des bourgs et des campagnes. ». Cependant, les vauderies survenues à Lyon et Arras au XVe siècle comme les cas de possession du XVIIe siècle sont autant de témoignages de la présence de la sorcellerie dans les villes européennes. Les études de cas et les essais comparatifs réunis dans ce volume montrent qu'en dépit de la diversité des sociétés urbaines, la sorcellerie apparaît comme un révélateur des enjeux de pouvoir qui traversent les villes modernes.Dans sa postface, Carlo Ginzburg insiste sur la portée d'une approche comparatiste, toujours attentive aux écarts à la norme, et souligne l'importance d’aborder les procès de sorcellerie comme une manifestation particulière des tensions sociales et culturelles.

    Description: Various forms of academic co-operation criss-cross the modern university system in a bewildering number of ways, from the open exchange of ideas and knowledge, to the sharing of research results, and frank discussions about research challenges.     Description: The article analyses the morphological means used by the Slovenian dialects of Friuli in adapting loan verbs to their aspectual system in comparison to the traditional means of expressing verbal aspect in the indigenous Slavic lexicon. In relation to verbs of Slavic origin, the formation of aspectual pairs was mainly realised by means of prefixation to the base verb (thereby perfectivising it), whereas with loans from the adjacent Romance varieties (Friulian, Italian, Venetian) suffixation proves more productive (yielding imperfectivisation). The analysis is carried out on the dialect of Resia as well as those from the Torre and Natisone Valleys. Despite some differences, in all three dialects there is generally a strong tendency to integrate loan verbs into the aspectual systems of these varieties. Biaspectual verbs, on the other hand, are relatively rare except for the particular case of the verbs in -inat in Resian.

Esta investigación realiza una valoración desde los postulados de Jutta Bluert y Fuentes (2011) y Christian Felber (2012) para verificar la viabilidad de la incorporación del concepto de bien común a los modelos de enseñanza a través del fortalecimiento del sentido de pertenencia, la conciencia y perspectiva de la generación y uso de los recursos, la salvaguarda de las tradiciones y los saberes colectivos; así como el cuidado de la naturaleza poniendo en el centro de la toma de decisiones a la comunidad y su entorno. Con ello, fomentar modelos de enseñanza comunitarios como políticas públicas, implica incorporar las características de bien común.

    Description: Diplomatic gifts, war prizes, or library treasures of royal and princely libraries—handwritten Qurʾans have also been endowed to mosques, tombs, and other religious complexes to perpetuate and transmit their baraka (divine blessing). Artistic, historic, and religious contexts and materiality of Qurʾans are investigated, from use of costly materials such as gold and parchment to development of special scripts, intricate illuminated designs, and meticulously tooled bindings. This edited collection resulted from a 2016 symposium at the Smithsonian’s Arthur M. Sacker Gallery in conjunction with the exhibition The Art of the Qurʾan: Treasures from the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts.

    Description: The PN Kammalia-Tarawa in an Old Assyrian tablet seems to be the earliest reference of the deity Darawa. The Luwian background this deity is also apparent, e.g., from the plural form DDa-ra-ú-wa-an-zi or from those texts mentioned in CTH 457 and the etymological interpretation of the divine name to the Luwian verb tarāwi(ya)-. Since the early Middle Hittite period Darawa also found her way into the Hattian milieu and as a goddess connected with the family life, she is mentioned several times in festivals for a queen (CTH 646), but also in the Hittite Prayer to the Sun-goddess of the Netherworld (CTH 371) which is – in my opinion – the only Hittite texts mentioning Darawa within the “pantheon of the state”. Texts from the Hurrian and Kizzuwatnaean milieu (e.g., CTH 351) also refer several times to Darawa, but this is clearly the result of a secondary and marginal dissemination of the goddess. In conclusion one might say that Darawa from her Luwian background also came into contact with various milieus of the “Hittite pantheon”, functioning as a goddess providing good (and evil) to humans in everyday life.

    Description: There is increasing evidence that the first few years after birth are particularly important in child development and present opportunities for enrichment but also vulnerabilities do to poverty and other social stressors. Elected officials have begun proposing potentially costly programs to intervene early in the lives of disadvantaged children. Have such interventions been demonstrated to yield substantial benefits? To what extent might they pay for themselves through lower welfare and criminal justice costs incurred by participating children as they grow into adults? This study synthesizes the results of a number of previous evaluations in an effort to answer those questions. Conclusions are that under carefully controlled conditions, early childhood interventions can yield substantial advantages to recipients in terms of emotional and cognitive development, education, economic well-being, and health. (The latter two benefits apply to the children's families as well.) If these interventions can be duplicated on a large scale, the costs of the programs could be exceeded by subsequent savings to the government. However, the more carefully the interventions are targeted to children most likely to benefit, the more likely it is that savings will exceed costs. Unfortunately, these conclusions rest on only a few methodologically sound studies. The authors argue for broader demonstrations accompanied by rigorous evaluations to resolve several important unknowns. These include the most efficient ways to design and target programs, the extent to which effectiveness is lost on scale-up, and the implications of welfare reform and other safety net changes.

Tutt’ora inediti, questi documenti sono qui riletti alla luce di un dettaglio: la presenza, tra una pagina e l’altra, della grafia di Marie-Anne Paulze-Lavoisier (1758-1836), moglie e collaboratrice del celebre chimico francese. È in effetti lei, ben più di altri assistenti, a compilare questo grande “archivio dell’esperimento”, per poi conservarlo (senza mai smettere di maneggiarlo) nei quattro decenni che seguirono la morte del marito nel 1794. Un lavoro che lei stessa assimilava con orgoglio a quello di un «segretario». Questo libro ricuce insieme queste storie, aprendo nuove prospettive tra storia materiale della scienza, storia sociale e storia delle donne e di genere.

    Description: Based on a qualitative, longitudinal and constructivist research approach, the project at hand explores the decision-making process within the inclusive transition from secondary school I to further education from the perspectives of teenagers with disabilities and parents (with/without disabilities). The narratives of 5 families (3 teenagers with disabilities, 3 fathers, 5 mothers with/without disabilities) are of interest. The interviews were conducted three times (every year) during the transition-/decision-making process along the method of intensive interviewing (Charmaz 2014). The analysis of the qualitative data (32 interviews) was based on the coding process according to Charmaz (2014). Through data analysis three types of decision-making could be identified (giving up decision, forcing decision, taking over decision) as subforms of two higher-level decision-making mechanisms named make an independent decision and make a(n) (independent) decision with support. The expectation of an independent decision-making individual is central for teenagers with disabilities and their parents. Different types of “volition” are connected to the decision-making processes, depending on if the teenagers with disabilities make an independent decision (really want it), make a decision with support ((don’t) want it) or make a decision owing to given opinions (have to). Due to the longitudinal research design the educational trajectories of teenagers with disabilities are also reconstructed.
    Description: Ausgehend von einem qualitativ, längsschnittlich und konstruktivistischen Forschungsdesign untersucht die vorliegende Studie das Erleben von Entscheidungsprozessen am inklusiv verstandenen Übergang von Sekundarstufe I in weitere schulische Bildung aus Sicht von Jugendlichen mit Behinderung und Eltern (mit/ohne Behinderung). Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Erzählungen von 5 Familien (3 Jugendliche mit Behinderung, 3 Väter, 5 Mütter mit/ohne Behinderung), die im Übergangs-/Entscheidungsprozess drei Mal im Abstand von einem Jahr mittels intensiv interviewing (Charmaz 2014) befragt wurden. Zur Auswertung des qualitativen Datenmaterials (32 Interviews) wurde auf die Kodierschritte von Charmaz (2014) zurückgegriffen. Die Datenanalyse offenbart drei Varianten des Entscheidens (entscheiden abgeben, entscheiden forcieren, entscheiden müssen) als Ausdifferenzierungen der übergeordneten Entscheidungsformen selbstständig entscheiden und unterstützend (selbstständig) entscheiden. Zentral ist die Erwartung eines selbstständigen Entscheidungssubjekts, an der sich die Jugendlichen mit Behinderung und Eltern orientieren. Damit einher gehen unterschiedliche Varianten des Wollens, wenn Jugendliche mit Behinderung als Entscheidungssubjekte selbstständig (es wirklich wollen), mit Unterstützung (es (nicht) wollen) oder innerhalb vorselektierter Optionen (es müssen) eine Wahl treffen. Durch das längsschnittliche Forschungsdesign können zudem die Bildungsverläufe der Jugendlichen mit Behinderung nachgezeichnet werden.

    Description: Nowadays poverty can be defined as a construct that can no longer be ascribed to the material scarcity of resources but to the lack of all available relational, social and cultural resources, that are an expression of a “suffering” territory. This fragility testifies to a problem of educational sustainability that requires an exit from the emergency logic of “buffer interventions” by activating social, training and professional networks, capable of responding to the educational needs expressed by the territory. For this reason, in the epistemic framework of Civil and Digital-Civil Pedagogy, the need emerges for new professional profiles capable of being “managers” of integrated territorial development, educators-planners of territorial educational services with a view to social sustainability and the educational human transition.

    Description: The reading experience and the self-referential stories of children between five and six years of age presented in this booklet are the result of the work elaborated by the transition students of the Franciscan School of Pius XII, within the framework of the activities of the psychology professional practice project, whose purpose was to approach narratives and stories as an excuse to navigate through the subjective productions elaborated from the reading experience. The elaboration of the stories allowed the construction of a space to relate personal events considered significant for the children. Therefore, each story that the reader will encounter speaks of a small world that found a way to be transmitted to others through narrative. Beyond building a story, the idea was to allow a moment to think about those experiences that give meaning to existence, as they are loaded with imagination, emotions and sensations, which is an opportunity to develop the process of conceiving themselves as subjects with a story.

Más allá de construir una historia, la idea era permitir un momento para pensar en aquellas experiencias que dan sentido a la existencia, ya que están cargadas de imaginación, emociones y sensaciones, lo que constituye una oportunidad para desarrollar el proceso de concebirse como sujetos con una historia.

    Description: For about two decades, say Johnson and Pace, the discussion of how to address prose style in teaching college writing has been stuck, with style standing in as a proxy for other stakes in the theory wars. The traditional argument is evidently still quite persuasive to some-that teaching style is mostly a matter of teaching generic conventions through repetition and practice. Such a position usually presumes the traditional view of composition as essentially a service course, one without content of its own. On the other side, the shortcomings of this argument have been much discussed-that it neglects invention, revision, context, meaning, even truth; that it is not congruent with research; that it ignores 100 years of scholarship establishing composition's intellectual territory beyond "service." The discussion is stuck there, and all sides have been giving it a rest in recent scholarship. Yet style remains of vital practical interest to the field, because everyone has to teach it one way or another. A consequence of the impasse is that a theory of style itself has not been well articulated. Johnson and Pace suggest that moving the field toward a better consensus will require establishing style as a clearer subject of inquiry. Accordingly, this collection takes up a comprehensive study of the subject. Part I explores the recent history of composition studies, the ways it has figured and all but effaced the whole question of prose style. Part II takes to heart Elbow's suggestion that composition and literature, particularly as conceptualized in the context of creative writing courses, have something to learn from each other. Part III sketches practical classroom procedures for heightening students' abilities to engage style, and part IV explores new theoretical frameworks for defining this vital and much neglected territory. The hope of the essays here-focusing as they do on historical, aesthetic, practical, and theoretical issues-is to awaken composition studies to the possibilities of style, and, in turn, to rejuvenate a great many classrooms.

    Description: The central “epoch-typical key problems” (Klafki 1993) that school education should address include the global challenges of socially produced inequality within our societies as well as the careful and responsible use of resources, both now and in the future. In view of this, as well as rapid processes of social change and increasingly complex challenges, the innovative capacity of the school as an institution is gaining in importance, because it has the task of enabling children and young people to actively shape an ecologically sustainable, economically efficient and socially just environment, considering global aspects. The presented dissertation ties in with this educational mission in schools. Based on findings that indicate that, firstly, education for sustainable development (ESD) is not yet sufficiently structurally anchored in schools and teaching, especially in the primary school sector, and secondly, that teachers and their motivation are decisive in the transfer of innovations and the implementation of programmatic models of school education, the present work investigates the question of which biographical dispositions and motives are evident in primary school teachers, implementing ESD in subject “Sachunterricht”. Thus, the work lies at the intersection of biographical professionalization, sustainability and school implementation research. In the theoretical references, the discourse on sustainability and corresponding educational concepts as well as approaches of implementation, innovation, implementation research as well as (biographical) professionalization research are used. For the empirical study, problem-centered interviews with primary school teachers in Lower Saxony were conducted and evaluated using sequence analysis based on objective hermeneutics. The aim is to reconstruct different case-specific patterns of orientation and interpretation as well as motives in relation to the implementation of ESD and to investigate connections between biographical and social structures and the motives for implementing education for sustainable development in “Sachunterricht” among teachers.
    Description: Als zentrale „epochaltypische Schlüsselprobleme“ (Klafki 1993), denen sich schulische Bildung zuwenden sollte, können u.a. die globalen Herausforderungen der gesellschaftlich produzierten Ungleichheit innerhalb unserer Gesellschaften sowie der sowohl gegenwärtig als auch zukünftig schonende und verantwortungsvolle Umgang mit Ressourcen gelten. Angesichts dessen sowie rascher gesellschaftlicher Wandlungsprozesse und zunehmend komplexerer Herausforderungen gewinnt die Innovationsfähigkeit der Institution Schule an Bedeutung, denn ihr kommt die Aufgabe zu, Kinder und Jugendliche zur aktiven Gestaltung einer ökologisch tragfähigen, wirtschaftlich leistungsfähigen und sozial gerechten Umwelt unter Berücksichtigung globaler Aspekte zu befähigen. An diesen schulischen Bildungsauftrag knüpft die vorgelegte Dissertationsschrift an. Ausgehend von Befunden, die darauf verweisen, dass erstens insbesondere im Grundschulbereich Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung (BNE) in Schule und Unterricht noch nicht hinreichend strukturell verankert ist und zweitens Lehrkräfte und ihre Motivation entscheidend beim Transfer von Innovationen und der Implementierung programmatischer Leitbilder schulischer Bildung sind, wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit der Frage nachgegangen, welche biographischen Dispositionen und Motive sich bei Grundschullehrkräften zeigen, die BNE im Sachunterricht umsetzen. Damit liegt die Arbeit im Schnittfeld von biographischer Professionalisierungs-, Nachhaltigkeits- und schulischer Implementationsforschung. In den theoretischen Bezügen werden zunächst der Diskurs um Nachhaltigkeit und entsprechende Bildungskonzeptionen sowie ferner Ansätze der Implementations-, Innovations-, Umsetzungsforschung sowie der (biographischen) Professionalisierungsforschung herangezogen. Für die empirische Untersuchung wurden problemzentrierte Interviews mit Grundschullehrkräften in Niedersachsen geführt und sequenzanalytisch in Anlehnung an die Objektive Hermeneutik ausgewertet. Ziel ist es, unterschiedliche fallspezifische Orientierungs- und Deutungsmuster sowie Motivlagen in Bezug auf die Umsetzung von BNE zu rekonstruieren und Zusammenhänge zwischen biographischen und sozialen Strukturen und den Motiven zur Umsetzung von Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung im Sachunterricht bei Lehrer*innen zu untersuchen.

This volume is the prelude to several anthologies that have been produced in theDFG-funded network ""Documentary School Research"" (NeDoS) and are dedicated to this interrelationship. Three subject areas of documentary school research are the focus of this first volume: School Development, School Culture and School as Organisation.     Description: Neben der Biblia pauperum ist das Speculum humanae salvationis das wohl bekannteste typologische Werk des Mittelalters. Vom lateinischen Text sind 328 handschriftliche mittelalterliche Quellen überliefert. Von seiner Popularität zeugen überdies Übersetzungen ins Deutsche, Französische, Niederländische, Englische und Tschechische. Diese Arbeit stellt eine der beiden niederländischen Fassungen des Speculum, und zwar die Prosaübersetzung aus dem Jahre 1464, in den Mittelpunkt. Neben Struktur und Funktion des lateinischen Textes werden in einem chronologisch-thematisch organisierten status quaestionis die Accessusfragen nach Herkunft und Autorschaft des Speculum erörtert. Vom mittelniederländischen Prosa-Spieghel werden eine genaue kodikologische Beschreibung und eine breit angelegte Analyse der Sprache geboten. Auch der literaturhistorische Kontext und die Übersetzungs- und Bearbeitungstechnik werden eingehen behandelt. Die kritische Edition nach der Haarlemer Handschrift erfüllt ein altes Forschungsdesiderat, indem sie sowohl den Vergleich mit der bereits vor mehr als einem halben Jahrhundert herausgegebenen Versübertragung ermöglicht, als auch eine eminent wichtige Schnittstelle zwischen handschriftlicher und gedruckter Tradition in den Niederlanden für die Forschung zugänglich macht.

    Description: At various junctures in the contemporary age, the relationship between Russia and the West has occupied a crucial place in the debates of Russian intellectual and political elites about the peculiar path and historical destiny of their country, constituting at the same time an important factor in Europe’s cultural self-definition, geohistorical contours, security system. The outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war has invested a question that had already become “classic” with a renewed, urgent topicality. The essays collected in the volume range over the time span from the final decades of the Tsarist Empire to the present day, focusing on topics such as Nikolai Danilevsky’s influential reflection on Rossiia i Evropa (A. Venturi), Max Weber’s analysis of Russian constitutionalism in 1905-07 (F. Fera), the pro-Westerner elements in Russian nationalism at the beginning of the twentieth century (G. Savino), the contribution of Russian emigration to the conceptualization of the West/East cleavage in the interwar period (R. Gravina), the Soviet Union in the vision of A.J. Toynbee (T. Tagliaferri), the “Ukrainian question” between the 20th and 21st centuries (R. Valle), the competition over the post-Soviet space between the Russian Federation and the European Union (M. Puleri).     Description: Among his hydraulic designs, Leonardo planned the construction of an artificial lake in an area east of the castle of Vinci, his native village. The project, a surprising demonstration of his perfect knowledge of places where he lived, is illustrated in three drawings found and studied by Renzo Cianchi. Today, it is particularly interesting to analyze the feasibility of Leonardo’s project, by chronologically translating it to the 21st century, namely in 2020. Based on an accurate hydrologic analysis, this paper aims at providing further insights on Leonardo’s study, focusing on the feasibility of the dam.

The process of ageing is lived differently according to each individual’s socio-cultural, historical, religious, and political context, among other factors. However, the stereotype of homogeneity is still one of the strongest aspects related to later life.     Description: Ausgangspunkt der Arbeit ist eine neue, mediale Thematisierung sexueller Gewalt durch pädagogische Fachkräfte seit 2010. Dieser wird zu Beginn der Arbeit als Gegenstand seine ambivalenten Folgen dargestellt. Zum einen entwickelte sich ein großes Potential für Prävention, Intervention und längst überfällige Aufarbeitung. Zum anderen kommt es zu einem gesellschaftlichen Generalverdacht gegen pädagogische Fachkräfte. Vor diesem Hintergrund stellt die Arbeit die Frage: Vor welchen Herausforderungen stehen pädagogische Fachkräfte der Heimerziehung angesichts des neuen, öffentlichen Diskurses über sexuelle Gewalt gegen Schutzbefohlene? Anhand von sechs Gruppendiskussionen mit Teams, aus der Heimerziehung, wird mittels der Dokumentarischen Methode rekonstruiert, dass die Fachkräfte sich im Zuge des öffentlichen Diskurses unter Generalverdacht gestellt fühlen. Empirisch kann gezeigt werden, dass das Thema sexuelle Gewalt durch diesen und fünf weitere Anlässe für die Fachkräfte relevant wird (Ausbildung, biografische Betroffenheit, institutionelle Bedingungen, Tatverdacht/Gewalttaten und kindliche Bedürfnisse nach Versorgung und Nähe). Der subjektiv wahrgenommene Generalverdacht geht für die Fachkräfte einher mit der Angst vor Repressalien gegen die eigene Person oder Kolleg*innen. Kindliche Bedürfnisse nach Nähe werden für die Fachkräfte vor dem Hintergrund zum Risiko. Gehen sie den Bedürfnissen fachlich angemessen nach, glauben sie Gefahr zu laufen, sexueller Gewalt bezichtigt zu werden. Sie stehen vor einem professionellen Dilemma und müssen den Schutz der eigenen Person gegen die Nähebedürfnisse der Kinder und Jugendlichen abwägen. Die Folge ist distanziert(ere)s und technokratisches Handeln, welches je nach konzeptioneller Perspektive unprofessionell und im Hinblick auf die Bedürfnisse der Kinder und Jugendlichen verletzend sein kann. Um der Herausforderung zu begegnen, haben die Fachkräfte Bewältigungsstrategien entwickelt. Diese sind davon abhängig, (1) ob die Fachkräfte sich vorstellen können, dass eine*r ihrer Kolleg*innen sexuelle Gewalt verübt, (2) inwieweit sich Fachkräfte für ein Nähebedürfnis der Kinder und Jugendlichen verantwortlich fühlen (familienanalog vs. nicht familienanalog) und (3) wie sich der Umgang der Organisation mit der medialen Thematisierung darstellt. Als ein weiterer Ergebnisstrang kann in der Arbeit gezeigt werden, dass sexuelle Gewalt durch eigene Kolleg*innen nicht, bzw. nur sehr schwer vorstellbar ist. Diese „Undenkbarkeit“ ist in die Sprache der Beforschten eingeschrieben. Die Arbeit zeigt, wie dieser fehlende Wahrnehmungshorizont das Handeln der Fachkräfte beeinflusst. Dies ist ein Open-Access-Buch.

    Description: Frank Ankersmit tells historians of their mission: “You can approximate objectivity only as long as you sincerely despair of approximating it.” It follows that it is incumbent upon anyone who represents the past to enter that struggle. Whether by keyboard or camera, historians who do not probe and question their suppositions may seek to represent the past, but they do not make history. A prime question for historiophoty is to ask what this struggle looks and sounds like projected off the page. This chapter considers the cinepoetics of historical objectivity through a model of moving images that rewinds the clock to the emergence of film on screens and traces a new path for cinema through to a digital reimagining of what Tom Gunning calls the “cinema of attractions.” It explores the documentary methods of narration and reenactment in Sam Green’s Live Documentary practice and analyzes the methods by which filmmakers become cine-historians through articulating the historians’ dilemma by audiovisual means in the creation of moving history of shared experience and public spectacle.

    Description: Servants were for a long time the dominant form of labour in Sweden. To serve, at a farm or at a manor, was ever since the thirteenth century the most common way to make a living, since poor people could by law be forced to accept work for a master. Service hence replaced thraldom in Sweden.In From slaves to servants, historian Martin Andersson explains how the regulations of the servants’ lives were gradually sharpened. Labourers had to become servants under the threats of punishment and forced conscription into the army. Wages were legally reduced, while other forms of making a living were blocked. The master’s right to use physical violence was increased, while the servant’s duty to obey was expanded.By the end of the sixteenth century, most farmhands and maids worked at manors or for the richest of the peasantry. They had consequently minimal chances of themselves becoming masters. Through studies of a rich material of regional law codes, court records, fine registers, royal letters and manuals for manor owners, the historian paints a rich picture of the daily lives of servants – a life formed by legal uncertainty, coercion, and poverty.

    Description: The topic of the Anatolian panthea in the Bronze Age deals with Hattian, Hittite, Palaean, Luwian and Hurrian gods who have been worshiped in the Kingdom of Ḫatti. In such a context, along with trying to keep a balanced and methodologically-aware approach in our original research, we realized that a multi-authored work such as the present volume, with papers written by some of the major experts of Anatolian religious history, would represent an invaluable contribution to the advancement of a complex and vast field. This collection of essays is the result of the workshop Theonyms, Panthea and Syncretisms in Hittite Anatolia and Northern Syria, held at the University of Verona on 25th and 26th March 2022. Colleagues with different areas of expertise pertaining to the topic of Anatolian religions contributed to an extremely successful event.

    Description: Can we build peace? relaunches the question of peacebuilding as a commitment to research and reflection beyond established theoretical frameworks. Each chapter of this book reflects the search and the questions that mobilize different scholars from their own intellectual trajectories and life experiences. It is a book that harbors the richness of its content in the diversity of methodical approaches to the question of peace. Thus, it understands that to build, to recognize, to dissent, to transform, are verbs of solidarity with which the transition from a country in conflict to a possible peace is conveyed. From the academic point of view, one of the great challenges is to consolidate the convergence of interests, knowledge and actions that allow a clear understanding of the complexity of the problems of the transition to peace. One of the premises that inspires the authors is to propose a decentered reading of established theories, without ignoring their value and without rejecting the necessary specificity required to elucidate and address specific issues such as psychological effects, legal discussions or media logics. Así las cosas, entiende que construir, reconocer, disentir, transformar, son verbos solidarios con los que se vehiculiza la transición de un país en conflicto, hacia una paz posible. While Covid-19 demonstrated some of the benefits of online learning, the widespread, often uncritical adoption of online tools driven by necessity has left many with an experience of ‘emergency online learning’. This book aims to assist in the design of technology-enhanced capacity development by sharing evidence of practices that are principled rather than rushed; inclusive rather than creating new digital divides. We have worked to evidence how technology can be leveraged effectively to enhance or strengthen capacities of individuals, teams or systems. We make clear that there are no magic bullets, that online approaches are not simply quicker or cheaper substitutes, and that solutions need to be selected carefully, designed well, and significant time invested if it is to work well. We hope Digital Technology in Capacity Development will be of interest to researchers and practitioners in a range of institutions, whether they are directly responsible for designing, delivering or evaluating new initiatives or whether they are advising or funding those who do.

    Description: The late 1960s can be described as a time of democratic awakening and social upheaval, also regarding discussions on education. Taking this period of critique and questioning as a starting point, the work proceeds to examine knowledge movements. Knowledge circulation and knowledge transformation processes between political and educational practice as well as educational theory are analysed on the basis of 9 biographical narratives of people who were active in educational or political practice projects around 1968. The first theoretical part of this thesis outlines the historical context and introduces the state of research on '1968 and pedagogy'. Subsequently, the thesis introduces its knowledge-historical theoretical approaches, from which the concept of knowledge movements developed for this thesis emerges. The first part of the thesis concludes with the presentation of the methodical and methodological premises, explains theoretically the applied procedure of an integrative coupling of discourses and biographies and shows the form of practical application in the work. The second part of the thesis includes the presentation of the empirical results and along inductively identified thematic strands, various aspects of new perspectives that can be considered as (co-)inspired/stimulated by the critical-alternative pedagogical milieu that are examined in greater detail. The third part of the paper presents the results and links them back to the theoretical premises. Thus, it is shown how knowledge of the discursive space of the critical-alternative pedagogical milieu changed through its discursive entanglements with the established educational science and how the established educational science entered a communicative process of opening through the confrontation with the new forms of knowledge. For educational science, the results and documented processes can thus can thus serve as a sample for contemplation and be referred to introspectively in the context of today's processes of theory formation or research. Disciplinary continuities and discontinuities were shown and hence it is possible to revise/identify trends or demarcations via the knowledge-historical findings of the work.
    Description: Die späten 1960er Jahre können als eine Zeit des demokratischen Aufbruchs und des gesellschaftlichen Umschwungs, auch bezogen auf die Thematisierungen von Bildung und Erziehung, bezeichnet werden. Diesem Zeitraum der Kritik und des Infragestellens als Ausgangspunkt nehmend, knüpft die Arbeit an, um Wissensbewegungen zu untersuchen. So werden, anhand von 9 biographischen Erzählungen mit Personen, die um 1968 in pädagogischen oder politischen Praxisprojekten aktiv waren, Wissenszirkulations- und Wissentransformationsprozesse zwischen politischer und pädagogischer Praxis sowie erziehungswissenschaftlicher Theorie analysiert. Im ersten theoretischen Teil der Arbeit wird einführend zunächst der historische Kontext umrissen und der Forschungsstand zu ‚1968 und Pädagogik‘ vorgestellt. Anschließend führt die Arbeit in ihre wissensgeschichtlichen theoretischen Zugänge ein, aus denen das für diese Arbeit entworfene Konzept von Wissensbewegungen hervorgeht. Der erste Teil der Arbeit schließt mit der Vorstellung der methodologischen und methodischen Prämissen, erläutert theoretisch das angewendete Verfahren einer integrativen Kopplung von Diskursen und Biographien und zeigt die Form der praktischen Anwendung in der Arbeit auf. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit umfasst die Darstellung der empirischen Ergebnisse und entlang von induktiv identifizierten Themensträngen werden verschiedene Aspekte neuer Perspektiven, die als durch das kritisch-alternative pädagogische Milieu mit angeregt betrachtet werden können, näher in den Blick genommen. Im dritten Teil der Arbeit werden die Ergebnisse vorgestellt und an die theoretischen Prämissen rückgekoppelt. So wird dort aufgezeigt, wie Wissen des Diskursraums des kritisch-alternativen pädagogischen Milieus sich durch seine diskursiven Verschränkungen mit der etablierten Erziehungswissenschaft veränderte und sich auch die etablierte Erziehungswissenschaft über die Auseinandersetzung mit den neuen Wissensformen in einem kommunikativen Prozess der Öffnung begab. Für die Erziehungswissenschaft können die Ergebnisse und dokumentierten Prozesse somit eine Kontemplationsfolie bieten, um sich im Kontext heutiger Prozesse der Theoriebildung oder der Forschung selbstreflexiv auf diese zu beziehen. Disziplinäre Kontinuitäten und Diskontinuitäten konnten sichtbar gemacht werden und so ist es möglich über die wissensgeschichtlichen Erkenntnisse der Arbeit Trends oder Abgrenzungen gegenzulesen.

    Description: La educación universitaria es una de las etapas más importantes en la formación de los individuos, ya que proporciona los conocimientos y herramientas necesarios para desempeñarse en el mundo laboral y contribuir al desarrollo del país. En el Perú y América Latina, la calidad de la educación universitaria ha sido un tema de preocupación durante muchos años, y aunque se han realizado esfuerzos para mejorarla, aún existen muchos desafíos por enfrentar. En el presente texto, en el primer capítulo se esboza la reconfiguración de la actual responsabilidad social universitaria en el Perú que puede ser factible si se implantan políticas educativas humanísticas, con valores éticos, y en las que la investigación sea el factor principal para una mejor vida colectiva. Así también se presenta un capítulo con una propuesta pedagógica de innovación en tecnología que busca fortalecer las competencias digitales de docentes y estudiantes de una institución educativa superior. Por otra parte, se presenta un capítulo que aborda el tema de investigación dentro del modelo de acreditación universitaria del Perú, destacándose la importancia de seguir investigando y formando investigadores en las universidades, con el fin de lograr la calidad educativa, y finalmente se presenta el capítulo de paradigmas de la investigación en las ciencias sociales a través de una revisión bibliográfica, concluyendo que todo investigador debe conocer los elementos que fundamentan los paradigmas ya que, sirven de guía metodológica para realizar un estudio.

    Description: The collection on “Public Health Palliative Care (PHPC) and Public Palliative Care Education (PPCE)” highlights recent advances and challenges in PHPC and PPCE. The articles demonstrate the breadth and diversity of local responses from across the globe, including Europe, Asia, Australia and South America. The COVID-19 pandemic clearly shows how collaboration between healthcare services and communities is an essential component of public health. The collection adds to the growing body of knowledge, based on practice, theory and research, about PHPC and PPCE. It is clear that global perspectives of PHPC are best expressed through both international, national and local activities including PPCE, such as Last Aid. Partnerships between healthcare services, civic organisations and communities are essential to increase awareness, skills and practice. It is evident that PHPC and PPCE are needed to improve palliative care support by the public in communities. These examples show that encouraging work on this important theme is ongoing worldwide, although more effort for implementation and research is needed.

    Description: Este estudio se centró en analizar las competencias clave que los evaluadores deben poseer en la educación superior y en cómo pueden ser desarrolladas y mejoradas. En el contexto de un creciente interés en la educación orientada a las competencias, se planteó la pregunta de investigación: ¿Cuáles son las competencias clave que deben poseer los evaluadores en la educación superior y cómo pueden ser desarrolladas y mejoradas? El objetivo de este estudio es analizar las competencias del evaluador en el contexto de la educación superior, identificar áreas de mejora y proporcionar recomendaciones para mejorar estas competencias. Se utilizó una metodología basada en la revisión de la literatura y en el análisis de las competencias técnicas, interpersonales y pedagógicas. Los resultados mostraron que estas competencias son fundamentales para el desempeño eficaz del evaluador y que deben ser desarrolladas y mejoradas de manera continua. El estudio subrayó la importancia de la auto-reflexión crítica y la formación continua para los evaluadores. Además, destacó la necesidad de que las instituciones educativas proporcionen el apoyo necesario para el desarrollo de las mismas.

    Description: Les guerres culturelles du XIXe siècle opposèrent les anticléricaux et les libéraux aux chrétiens intransigeants. Ils s’affrontèrent sur des questions majeures : l’articulation entre religion et politique ; les limites de la liberté individuelle, le but de l’existence humaine. Leurs visions du monde paraissaient inconciliables. Comment ont-ils géré leurs différends ? Quelles ont été finalement les voies de la coexistence ? En croisant les histoires italienne, française, allemande et suisse, cet ouvrage montre les mécanismes communs qui, en Europe, ont apporté une première vague sécularisatrice. La Guerre des deux France, le Kulturkampf et le Risorgimento sont analysés comme des crises d’apprentissage du pluralisme au sein des jeunes nations démocratiques. Ces guerres culturelles, sans véritables gagnants ni perdants, ont contribué à transformer tant les églises, qui luttaient pour ne pas perdre leur influence, que les états qui, en se laïcisant, ont assis leur souveraineté.

    Description: This publication is the result of a baseline study of the state of the higher education systems in the five Portuguese speaking countries in Africa (PALOP): Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and Sao Tome and Principe. The project was undertaken by an African international expert in the field of higher education studies and was fully sponsored and supported by the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA). The report offers a historical overview of the development of higher education in PALOP from colonial times to the present. The main objective of this baseline study is to map the landscape and dynamics of change in the higher education systems of PALOP countries. It focuses on describing the latest developments of trends of expansion, financing, governance and policy reforms closely linked to the development of higher education systems in these countries.     Description: Humanity now faces the possibility that it will become extinct over the next few decades or so. This is not simply a reality about the biological fate of the species; it also raises the prospect of thought’s own extinction. But what does it mean for thought that it, too, might disappear? Thought’s possible disappearance shatters the assumption, at work across all the institutions and disciplines of the West, that one version or another of thought is enduring and will survive. As it turns out, no familiar practice rests on a secure ground; under the sign of the terminus - the prospect of humanity’s extinction - each one is shattered and undone. The cultural legacy becomes a field of rubble. In dozens of short essays, this book moves through this field. It takes up a host of specific inheritances and traces how each is shattered and transformed by an extinct thought. It engages with religion, philosophy, history, literature, ethics, studies of political power and resistance, and depictions of humanity’s place in the nonhuman world. It reconsiders the emergence of capitalism and of biopower, the science of climate change, the import of mediation and technology, and philosophies of temporality. Moreover, it contends with many innovative waves of thought over the past two centuries, from German idealism to deconstruction, from psychoanalysis to queer theory, from decolonizing theory to Afropessimism, and from the critique of ideology to speculative realism. It concludes by assessing what it is like for thought, having confronted its extinction, to live on in this debris, to dance with its own oblivion.

    Description: In (First Person)2, Day and Eodice offer one of the few book-length studies of co-authoring in academic fields since Lunsford and Ede published theirs over a decade ago. The central research here involves in-depth interviews with ten successful academic collaborators from a range of disciplines and settings. The interviews explore the narratives of these informants' experience-what brought them to collaborate, what cognitive and logistical processes were involved as they worked together, what is the status of collaborated work in their field, and so on-and situate these informants within the broader discussion of collaboration theory and research as it has been articulated over the last ten years. As the study develops, Day and Eodice become most interested in the affective domain of co-authorship, and they find the most promising explorations of that domain in the work of feminist theorists in composition. Against a background of feminist theory, the reflections of these informants and authors not only provide a window into the processes of current scholarship in writing, but also come to stand as a critique of traditional practice in English departments. Throughout the book, the two co-authors interrupt themselves with reflections of their own, on the rejection long ago of their proposal to co-author a dissertation, on their presuppositions about their research, on their developing commitment to the framework of feminist theory to account for their findings, and on their own processes and challenges in writing this book. The result is a well-centered volume that is disciplined and restrained in its presentation of research, but which is layered and multivocal in presentation, and which ends with some provocative conclusions.

    Description: Among the literature aimed at students of art science and other image-interpreting sciences are a number of texts that deal with theories and theoretical concepts. However, what is largely missing, and which students often call for, are texts in Swedish that show how theories and concepts can be applied in concrete interpretation situations. The series Theoretical applications in art science aims to fill that gap, with the book Materiality being the fourth in the series. The book introduces and activates a concept that in recent decades has come to take an increasingly important place in humanistic research. Art scholars - but also archaeologists, anthropologists, literary scholars, ethnologists and other humanistic researchers - are increasingly interested in the material conditions for, and the manifestations of, people's social and cultural life and exchange. But despite its topicality in today's scientific conversation, the concept of materiality can seem elusive and elusive. It moves all the way from the most tangible analyzes of the material components of a cultural artefact, to the somewhat impenetrable theorizations of objectivity, agents and networks that are usually sorted under the label ""new materialism"". However, the book Materialitet gives concrete examples of how the concept of materiality can open up interpretations of important layers of meaning in works of art and other cultural artifacts. After the initial introduction where different perspectives and conceptualisations of materiality are discussed, six researchers each do their own analysis based on their subject area. The chapters are based on new research and are written specifically for this book. The different chapters together show the multifaceted nature of the concept of materiality, but do not lock it down to a definition, but open the eyes to a number of different interpretive paths.

    Description: This paper aims to demonstrate that cults and cultic institutions are a crucial element for understanding the processes producing different regional outcomes after the fall of the Hittite empire. In this paper, cults are understood as normative cosmic forces defining tempo and worldview of ancient societies. Cultic institutions can be identified as physical spaces defined by purity, charged with real and symbolic value, and led by specialists whose competence is recognised by the community. Instead of being a by-product of political complexity, they are a driving force behind the power dynamics because they are perceived as such in a bottom-up perspective, but also often by main political actors in search of legitimation of their power. This paper examines the interconnections between cultic and political institutions in the territory under the Hittite empire and in the same space after the empire’s demise. We aim to distinguish between processes of resilience, reorganisation, and transformation as they occurred in particular micro-regions previously controlled by the empire, including the Upper Euphrates, South-Central Anatolia, North-Central Anatolia, Cilicia, and the Northern Levant; this will demonstrate both the importance of such a micro-regionally defined study, as well as the shared coincidence of cultic and political institutional change. It will become evident that cultic continuity coincided with the resilience of political institutions, and changes in the cultic landscape corresponded to political reorganisations or transformations in post-Hittite Anatolia and north Syria.

    Description: Rapid change in the land and labor system in rural Mexico during the 1890s destroyed the ancestral homes of the peasantry, forcing them either onto privately owned haciendas or into the migratory labor stream. The anarchy, inflation, and fear for personal safety that resulted from the Mexican Revolution of the 1910 provided a further impetus to migratory patterns that otherwise might not have emerged, considering the people's strong ties to their ancestral land. During the same era, capitalist modernization in the United States was creating a strong demand for low-paid, unskilled labor, especially for agricultural and railroad work. Mexico's newly created class of migrant workers rushed across the border to fill this demand, setting in motion a social, economic, and political phenomenon that Lawrence Cardoso analyzed here in detail. What set this study apart, however, is the author's focus on the ' Human element," as revealed through the Mexican workers' hopes, fears, and reactions to events of their time.

    Description: The book discusses how the most severe abuses of political power, traditionally termed from the ancient times as ‘tyranny’, were presented in 16th century political philosophy, propaganda, and literature in Italy, France, England, Scotland, German countries, and Poland-Lithuania. Using a unique interdisciplinary methodology, the book is both timeless and timely as it demonstrates various approaches of acknowledged Renaissance intellectuals to the problem of tyranny and how best to avoid or fight it. The author consciously avoids categories of the classic history of ideas or political thought and instead reveals broader intellectual and cultural connections in the perception of tyranny in the 16th century and its impact on modern debates on different dangers of political abuses of power.

    Description: This monograph examines how Korean women and men came to engage with Catholic missions during Europe’s late sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, a profoundly volatile period in East Asian history during which political, cultural, and social disruption created opportunities for new interactions in the region. It analyzes the nature of that engagement, as women and men became both subjects for, and agents of, catechizing practices. As their evangelization, experience of faith, proselytizing, and suffering were recorded in mission archives, the monograph explores contact between Catholic Christianity and Korean women in particular. Broomhall demonstrates how gender ideologies shaped interactions between missionary men and Korean women, and how women’s experiences would come to be narrated, circulated, and memorialized.

    Description: This collective work makes significant and unprecedented contributions to intercultural studies, in general, and intercultural education, in particular. It is a set of studies that offer a very well differentiated Latin American panorama and with comparative contributions that generate lines of future research. For this reason, I believe that it may soon become an important international reference work (GUNTHER DIETZ). It is a very current and relevant work for the Latin American context. It is a commitment to work with, in and from the communities, which is related to one of the objectives sought, which is to understand interculturality from the grassroots. It is an enjoyable read and I consider that it can be a contribution both to continue with the research presented and to generate much more participatory and collaborative methodologies in the field, breaking with the classic Eurocentric object-subject visions. On the other hand, the degree of commitment that can be seen in several chapters can serve as motivation for social scientists who are beginning in the field (ELEDER PIÑEIRO).

Es una lectura amena y considero que puede ser un aporte tanto para continuar con las investigaciones presentadas como para generar metodologías mucho más participativas y colaborativas en el campo, rompiendo con las clásicas visiones eurocéntricas objeto-sujeto. Por otro lado, el grado de compromiso que se aprecia en varios capítulos puede servir de motivación para los científicos sociales que se inician en el campo (ELEDER PIÑEIRO).

    Description: This chapter advances a novel theoretic-methodological approach to the analysis of qualitative data. The aim is to achieve a deeper understanding of the relationship between social inequality and educational outcomes in post-colonial rural Southern contexts. It operationalises the Habitus Listening Guide (Arnot & Naveed, 2014) derived from Bourdieu’s theory of cultural reproduction and contemporary narrative theory. The chapter describes the application of four listenings using a dialogic, multi-layered, analysis of interview transcripts. It uncovers the polyphonic voices of four members of Munawar Hussain’s family, describing the impact of the rural social structure on their educational and occupational biographies. Inter-narrativity is generated through repeated listenings of the social structure, of paired father-mother and son-daughter and then of father-son and mother-daughter narratives, and a final mythic-ritual listening which makes audible when religious beliefs are called into play. These beliefs either contribute to the maintenance of poverty and social inequality, and yet inspire strategies to disrupt power structures through education as a religious duty. Each listening reveals the dialectic relationship between the hierarchal post-colonial social order and its school system, and the family’s gendered and generational educational aspirations, strategies, and outcomes.

    Description: This book presents, above all, a study of the establishment and development of the Soviet organization and system of fashion industry and design as it gradually evolved in the years after the Second World War in the Soviet Union, which was, in the understanding of its leaders, reaching the mature or last stage of socialism when the country was firmly set on the straight trajectory to its final goal, Communism. What was typical of this complex and extensive system of fashion was that it was always loyally subservient to the principles of the planned socialist economy. This did not by any means indicate that everything the designers and other fashion professionals did was dictated entirely from above by the central planning agencies. Neither did it mean that their professional judgment would have been only secondary to ideological and political standards set by the Communist Party and the government of the Soviet Union. On the contrary, as our study shows, the Soviet fashion professionals had a lot of autonomy. They were eager and willing to exercise their own judgment in matters of taste and to set the agenda of beauty and style for Soviet citizens. The present book is the first comprehensive and systematic history of the development of fashion and fashion institutions in the Soviet Union after the Second World War. Our study makes use of rich empirical and historical material that has been made available for the first time for scientific analysis and discussion. The main sources for our study came from the state, party and departmental archives of the former Soviet Union. We also make extensive use of oral history and the writings published in Soviet popular and professional press.

    Description: Servants were for a long time the dominant form of labour in Sweden. To serve, at a farm or at a manor, was ever since the thirteenth century the most common way to make a living, since poor people could by law be forced to accept work for a master. Service hence replaced thraldom in Sweden. In From slaves to servants, historian Martin Andersson explains how the regulations of the servants’ lives were gradually sharpened. Labourers had to become servants under the threats of punishment and forced conscription into the army. Wages were legally reduced, while other forms of making a living were blocked. The master’s right to use physical violence was increased, while the servant’s duty to obey was expanded. By the end of the sixteenth century, most farmhands and maids worked at manors or for the richest of the peasantry. They had consequently minimal chances of themselves becoming masters. Through studies of a rich material of regional law codes, court records, fine registers, royal letters and manuals for manor owners, the historian paints a rich picture of the daily lives of servants – a life formed by legal uncertainty, coercion, and poverty.

    Description: This volume concerns the role of the Italian schools, the associations and their actors to counteract educational dispersion and encourage the inclusion of minors with a migratory background. The work is part of a collaboration project between Inapp (National Institute for Public Policy Analysis) and Aiig (Italian Association of Geography Teachers) aimed to map the “Analysis, training and territorial activities for preventing/countering the risks of educational dispersion of young people with a migratory background” (June 2022 - March 2023). This collaboration stems from a program agreement between Inapp and Ministry of Labor and Social Policies - General Directorate of Immigration, on “Citizen Integration Policies of Third Countries”. The first part, focused on theoretical aspects, develops the idea of a school as welcoming community, in which disciplines such as geography and tools such as digital teaching can be significant resources to draw on. Related to this, a specific focus on the socio-cultural development in the border and internal areas is underlined. The second part collects the empirical evidences emerging from some territorial laboratories and training courses organized by Inapp and Aiig in various Italian regions. These evidences represent the main results of a qualitative survey on risks of educational dropout of young people with a migratory background. A wealth of proposals together with successful and critical factors is unraveled. In the last section of the volume, these various and original practices are reported by teachers, school managers, and operators, representatives of voluntary organisations, associations and third sector. The idea was to carry out the research not on the actors of inclusion, but with them, giving voice to their experiences. It was a sort of an ideal journey from the north of Italy, where the presence of students with a migratory background is higher, to the south, considered the land of their arrival and transit.

    Description: The court and court society in the Hispanic world (16th-18th centuries): The courtly world has emerged as a propitious intellectual and historiographical space for thinking and writing the history of early modernity. Ever since the renewal of the so-called ‘political history,’ but also after the perspective of cultural studies, the courtly has become the privileged scenario for the study of the political society of the Modern Age, starting from the analysis of the formation of the different social actors’ different political identities in dispute, as well as the tracking of hidden interests in decision-making in order to understand power groups or networks. Similarly, the courtly cannot but be thought of as that singular scenario and/or space of conjunction and indistinction between the political (public) and the economic (private), as well as a locus of identity formation and dispute. In this sense, the study of the Ancien Régime societies cannot ignore the courtly, which is a key element for understanding and analyzing one of the articulating elements of the globality of the European monarchies, particularly the Hispanic monarchy. As this work describes, this global perspective allows us to understand the importance and imprint of the courtly in America. Therefore, the aim is to analyze and understand the court and the courtly world from multiple perspectives. The articles that make up this work problematize the courtly from different geographical spaces, but above all from different intellectual concerns and preoccupations: princely and courtly education, the problem of the King’s favorite, the religious, the nobiliary, the place of the feminine in the court or, also, the materiality of the courtly texts and the materiality of the government of the monarchy from the court.

    Description: El mundo cortesano se ha erigido como un espacio intelectual e historiográfico propicio para pensar y escribir la historia de la primera modernidad. Desde la renovación de la denominada ‘historia política’, pero también desde los estudios culturales, lo cortesano ha devenido en el escenario privilegiado de estudio de la sociedad política de la Edad Moderna, partiendo de análisis de la conformación de las diferentes identidades políticas en disputa de los distintos actores sociales, como también del rastreo de intereses ocultos en las tomas de decisiones para comprender redes o grupos de poder. Asimismo, lo cortesano no puede dejar de pensarse como ese escenario y/o espacio singular de conjunción e indistinción entre lo político (público) y lo económico (privado), así como un locus de conformación y disputa identitaria. En este sentido, el estudio de las sociedades del Antiguo Régimen no puede obviar lo cortesano, máxima para comprender y analizar uno de los elementos articuladores de la globalidad de las monarquías europeas, singularmente de la monarquía hispánica. Esta perspectiva global nos permite comprender, como se realiza en esta obra, la importancia e impronta de lo cortesano en América. Por lo tanto, esta obra busca analizar y comprender la corte y el mundo cortesano desde múltiples perspectivas. Los artículos que conforman esta obra problematizan lo cortesano desde diversos espacios geográficos, pero sobre todo desde distintas inquietudes y preocupaciones intelectuales: la educación principesca y cortesana, el problema del valimiento, lo religioso, lo nobiliario, el lugar de lo femenino en la corte o, también, la materialidad de los textos cortesanos y la materialidad del gobierno de la monarquía desde la corte.

    Description: Graduate medical education (GME) continues its decades-long evolution. Evidence-based approaches are increasingly transforming the way we educate, evaluate, and promote GME trainees. Key to this transformation is our ability to recognize that “medical education” constitutes a true lifelong continuum, beginning with pre-medical education, then proceeding to medical school, residency (and potentially subsequent fellowship) training, and then finally the so-called maintenance of certification that continues throughout one’s entire professional career. This book explores a broad range of important topics, including the novel concept of “coping intelligence,” the important role of “work-life integration,” professional coaching and mentorship, professional development and career-long learning, patient-provider relationship, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on medical education, as well as the introduction of modern technologies to ameliorate the effects of social distancing. The book further discusses two important aspects of GME program management: the process of establishing new GME programs as well as the highly intricate process of merging residency programs. Different aspects and perspectives are incorporated, including those of residents, faculty, and program leadership. The book ends with chapters on diversity, equity and inclusion, and the importance of community-based medical education.

    Description: [English]:Universities, as training and research institutions, are required to implement actions and policies aimed at ensuring gender equality and at removing obstacles that prevent the full personal and professional fulfilment of men and women. To this end, the Gender Responsive Budgeting is the fundamental tool to pursue the objectives of equality. But more than a document, it is an articulated process that requires a significant involvement of the governance of the University, through a path of institutionalization of the approach to the gender issues. The volume presents the results of the second gender report of the University Federico II of Naples, drawn up according to the Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities Guidelines. In addition to the context analysis, which allows to highlight strengths and critical issues of the University with respect to gender equality, the document illustrates the level of integration of the gender perspective in the University's strategic documents, the network of bodies responsible for gender issues and the repertoire of actions implemented in the previous five years. The gender analysis of economic and financial commitments, carried out through the reclassification of the budget, has also made it possible to explore in detail the resources expressly allocated to the equality objectives, identifying the areas in which greatest investments are needed. The document also includes a preliminary gender analysis of student opinion questionnaires, which can be used as a useful tool to provide insights into the definition of positive actions for the student population. The picture that emerges from the proposed analysis is of a University that has embarked on a serious path of institutionalization of the gender budget process, attested by the commitment to promote inclusive cultural and organizational processes aimed at concretely pursuing equality objectives in training, research and work.

A tale scopo il Bilancio di Genere è lo strumento d’elezione per perseguire gli obiettivi di parità. Ma più che di un documento, si tratta di un vero e proprio articolato processo che richiede un significativo coinvolgimento della governance di Ateneo, attraverso un percorso di istituzionalizzazione dell’approccio alle questioni di genere. Il volume presenta gli esiti del secondo bilancio di genere della Federico II di Napoli, redatto secondo le Linee Guida elaborate dalla Conferenza dei Rettori delle Università Italiane. Oltre all’analisi di contesto, che consente di evidenziare i punti di forza e gli elementi di criticità dell’Ateneo federiciano rispetto alla parità di genere, il documento illustra il livello di integrazione della prospettiva di genere nei documenti strategici di Ateneo, la rete di organismi preposti alle tematiche di genere e il repertorio delle azioni messe in atto nel quinquennio precedente. L’analisi di genere degli impegni economico-finanziari, realizzata a partire dalla riclassificazione del bilancio, ha consentito inoltre di esplorare nel dettaglio le risorse espressamente destinate agli obiettivi di parità, identificando gli ambiti in cui è necessario investire maggiormente. Il documento include inoltre una prima analisi in ottica di genere dei questionari di rilevazione delle opinioni degli studenti e delle studentesse, che può essere adoperata come utile strumento per fornire spunti per la definizione di azioni positive destinate alla popolazione studentesca.     Description: Dieses Buch setzt sich mit alltäglicher Lebenssituation als Gegenstand pädagogischer Sprachdiagnostik auseinander und ist im Diskurs über Diagnostik und Förderung sprachlich-kommunikativer Kompetenzen zu verorten. Es wurde untersucht, welche Faktoren zur Konstruktion der alltäglichen Lebenssituation beitragen. Außerdem wurde ein Analyseverfahren für die pädagogische Sprachdiagnostik entwickelt, erprobt und evaluiert. Die Ergebnisse zeigen auf, dass Faktoren wie eigenaktives Handeln des Subjekts oder zwischenmenschliche Beziehungen zur Konstruktion alltäglicher Lebenssituation beitragen. Außerdem weisen die Befunde darauf hin, dass mit Anwendung eines in einer Alltagssituation durchgeführten problemzentrierten Interviews Informationen zur alltäglichen Lebenssituation eines sprachbeeinträchtigten Kindes erfasst werden können. Diese Informationen werden anhand des entwickelten Auswertungsleitfadens handlungstheoretisch analysiert. Daraus lassen sich Bedingungen der alltäglichen Lebenssituation rekonstruieren, um pädagogische Sprachfördersituationen zu gestalten, die auf die Erweiterung der sprachlichen Handlungsfähigkeit in der alltäglichen Lebenssituation gerichtet sind. Dies ist ein Open-Access-Buch.

    Description: Social work meets existential philosophy: How do I find meaning in my life? How free am I in my decisions and actions? How do I deal with suffering, guilt and death? How do I lead an authentic life? Drawing on some great thinkers such as Jean-Paul Sartre and Martin Heidegger, Johannes Nathschläger attempts to show how existential philosophy questions and issues represent an omnipresent ""cross-sectional task"" in the diverse fields of action of social work, but have so far received little attention in theoretical discourse. Social work as a profession and scientific discipline must finally face this challenge and develop and apply appropriate methods. It can find inspiration in Irvin Yalom's existential psychotherapy or Viktor Frankl's logotherapy, among others.     Description: This chapter explores how the revision of national myths in Early Modern Britain and France reflects conflicts and contradictions between the perspectives of the dominant nations, England and France, and those of two subordinate nations, Wales and Brittany, formally annexed by their larger neighbours in the 16th century, and how the national myths in turn impinged on the status of the vernacular languages of the subordinate nations, Welsh and Breton. In order to legitimise the new Church of England, English protestant apologists claimed that its protestant faith was the continuation of the pure faith of the Early Church, which the ancient Britons, ancestors of the Welsh, had acquired directly from a disciple of Christ. Richard Davies’ preface to the 1567 Welsh New Testament, however, re-appropriated the narrative as specifically Welsh. Davies’ narrative was influential in Wales and contributed to a cultural context, together with the Welsh Bible translation, in which the Welsh language could flourish despite the increasing dominance of English. In the case of Brittany and France, the paper explores the contradiction between the antiquarian prestige conferred upon Breton by contemporary language antiquity myths and its actual subordinate sociolinguistic status vis-a-vis French.

    Description: Las sociedades actuales son cada vez más diversas debido a la globalización y al desarrollo económico potenciado por la digitalización. Esta diversidad también se refleja en las escuelas, por lo que es preciso que los docentes sean capaces de integrar y aprovechar esta diversidad en sus aulas con la intención de fomentar el desarrollo de la competencia intercultural en el alumnado. Para ello la formación del profesorado deberá promover la formación de futuros maestros en la adquisición de las competencias que les permitan implementar situaciones de aprendizaje según el modelo de educación intercultural, atendiendo a los principios de una educación inclusiva para todos/as, en términos de equidad. El presente capítulo consiste en una reflexión teórica acerca de la diversidad cultural y el desarrollo de la competencia intercultural en la educación obligatoria, a partir de un análisis documental centrado en: analizar el concepto de diversidad cultural en la sociedad y la educación; el desarrollo de la competencia intercultural en el aula y el modo en que la formación inicial aborda el rol del profesorado y las estrategias a desempeñar en las aulas. Los resultados aluden a la necesidad de una concienciación de este fenómeno desde las universidades, la pertinencia de la competencia intercultural, así como las estrategias y prácticas de éxito que pueden servir de orientación para generalizar su implementación. La principal conclusión es que la inclusión de la diversidad cultural en los centros educativos es uno de los mayores retos de la sociedad y la educación del siglo XXI.

    Description: This study deals with aspectuality in Resian, a Slovene-based variety of north-eastern Italy, and the probable role of Romance influence on developments in this domain. In part, these findings are compared with the situation found with other non-Romance linguistic varieties spoken in Italy, especially Molise Slavic. The functional-semantic field of aspectuality is considered both in relation to its grammatical centre, viz. verbal aspect, and its lexical periphery. Language contact plays an important role in the almost complete transition of the Resian dual aspect system to a purely derivational opposition “imperfective : perfective”, also absorbing most of its prior morphosyntactic opposition “imperfect : aorist : perfect”. Furthermore, the special aspectual selection properties of phasal verbs and the role of aspect in the functions of modal verbs merit particular mention in this respect. In the case of lexical and periphrastic means of expression, a number of calqued progressive and prospective (imminent) periphrases, mostly calqued from Romance models, are discussed.

    Description: This study, through the use of hundreds of archival documents over a period of about two centuries, highlights the total reversal in the silk trade that occurred from the beginning of the 15th century: silk cloth no longer crossed the Mediterranean from East to West, as in previous centuries, but from West to East. Jewish, Turkish and Syrians merchants, and above all the Sublime Porte showed continued appreciation for Florentine silks. Through the analysis of the sources, every phase of such export is described in detail: the purchase of the cloths in Florence, their shipment, transport and finally the sale through Florentine correspondents in Constantinople. This flow of silks continued until the first decades of the 16th century, only to decline rapidly around the middle of the century.

    Description: Este artículo tiene por objetivo analizar la literatura existente sobre la acreditación universitaria y calidad en la Educación superior en América Latina durante el periodo de 2019 a 2023. Se empleó el método de revisión sistemática PRISMA para sintetizarla evidencia disponible en la literatura académica y proporcionar una visión actualizada de las prácticas más efectivas.Los criterios de inclusión se focalizaron en estudios publicados en el idioma inglés debido a la extensión de los trabajos existentes en plataformas indizadas, las mismas que abordaron explícitamente la acreditación universitaria y su repercusión en la calidad dentro del marco de la Educación superior. Se excluyeron los estudios que no se centraban en la Educación superior, calidad o queno abordaban la acreditación universitaria como su principal objetivo.La búsqueda se realizó en tres bases de datos académicas: ERIC, Scopus y Web of Science (WoS). Estas fueron elegidas debido al ofrecimiento de métricas bibliométricas confiables que facilitan la evaluación del impacto de la investigación. Se utilizó una combinación de términos clave relacionados con la acreditación universitaria, calidad y la Educación superior. Todos los estudios seleccionados se evaluaron en términos de su calidad metodológica y se extrajeron datos relevantes.Los resultados de la revisión sistemática permitieron identificar patrones y tendencias que se obtienen de la acreditación universitaria en la calidad de la Educación superior. La revisión aporta una visión general de las prácticas más destacadas y efectivas en este ámbito, subrayando la importancia del campo de la acreditación como reconocimiento que otorga el Sistema Nacional de Evaluación, Acreditación y Certificación de la Calidad Educativa (Sineace) a partir de una evaluación de la calidad en Educación superior, así como de su relevancia en la valoración de resultados y los avances generados. Esta investigación tiene la intención de contribuir al avance de la investigación en acreditación universitaria y su aplicación en la calidad de la Educación superior. incidirá positivamente en la acreditación universitaria, ya que demuestra el compromiso de la institución con la excelencia académica y la generación de conocimiento.

    Description: During late Middle Ages the space corresponding to Papal State showed some features similar to those of Central-Northern Italy, sharing others with the Southern Kingdom. This interesting mix can be tested observing statutory law, that, regarding this period, has abundantly survived, although revealing remarkable regional differences. The interplay between cities and villages in this situation is complicated by Papal power, which participates in that relationship, affecting it with a varying intensity and continuity. In this book we try to specify the “three parts game” that happened during the legislative process, considering also other players action, such rural lords. The work includes four essays about the four lands forming the Papal State and other three about nearer lands, i.e. Florentine Tuscany, Siennese one and the Sicilian Kingdom (reserving a special attention at Abruzzo), and suggests useful comparisons, one of the project paramount aims. The scholars invited to join the enterprise, each specialist of a single land, during their research considered other’s results, notwithstanding the physical distance among each other. Thus, we try to offer a homogeneous picture, at least regarding powers interplay dynamics.

    Description: Lo spazio territoriale dello Stato della Chiesa nel tardo Medio Evo mostra alcune caratteristiche proprie dell’Italia centro-settentrionale, ma al contempo se ne distingue per altre che lo avvicinano al Regno meridionale. Questa interessante miscela può essere verificata nella normativa statutaria, che si è conservata abbondante per il periodo, anche se con alcune notevoli differenze regionali. L’interazione fra i centri urbani e quelli rurali trova qui una complicazione nella presenza del potere pontificio, che si inserisce nel rapporto fra i due soggetti condizionandolo, anche se con differente intensità e continuità. In questo volume si cerca di dettagliare il “gioco a tre” che l’attività normativa delle campagne comportava, senza dimenticare la possibile presenza di altri attori, come i signori rurali. Dedicando quattro studi alle quattro realtà regionali comprese nello Stato della Chiesa e altri tre a realtà finitime, cioè la Toscana fiorentina, quella senese e il Regno di Sicilia (con un’attenzione particolare all’Abruzzo), il libro suggerisce proficui confronti, che sono stati comunque una delle idee portanti del progetto. I singoli studiosi che sono stati invitati a partecipare all’iniziativa, ognuno specialista di una specifica area, pur non lavorando in stretto contatto, hanno comunque tenuto presenti i risultati delle ricerche condotte dagli altri, in modo da fornire un quadro il più possibile omogeneo, almeno per quanto riguarda le dinamiche dell’interazione fra i tre poteri.
