    Description: From the 1920s onwards, the Soviet Union became a favourite destination for Italian writers, travellers who took it upon themselves to interpret and present the new Soviet world to Italian readers by sending articles to newspapers and magazines, most of which were later published as monographs. The present study aims to investigate the reasons that drove so many intellectuals to visit Russia and the Soviet territories after the October. Through references to historical and political ideologies that may have influenced the writers’ interpretations, the reconstruction of travel conditions and individual approaches to Soviet life, the study focuses on Italian intellectuals’ views on the USSR and the particular value that the reportages had in the construction of the image of the Soviet world in the Italian reality.

    Description: Although Boccaccio’s name is rarely encountered in published works of Giovanni Pascoli (1855-1912), traces of a constant reading and reuse of the Decameron have emerged and continue to emerge from the poet’s manuscripts. The article outlines the history of the already known contacts between the two authors and adds a new document: the unknown verse drama ‘Messer Gentile’, inspired by the novella X 4. This drama, designed as a one-act play with a prologue and three scenes, has been left unfinished: only the prologue and the first scene are preserved, but it is enough to appreciate some dynamics that characterize the rewriting process. A dense network of references to the most ancient Italian poetic tradition emerges from the dramatic lines, and among the manuscripts one discovers an experimental rhythmic prose composed of hendecasyllables arranged in a line that the study reconnects to the reform of modern tragic theater envisaged by Pascoli. Sebbene il nome di Boccaccio si incontri molto raramente nell'opera di Giovanni Pascoli (1855-1912), dai manoscritti del poeta sono emerse e continuano a emergere tracce di una lettura costante del Decameron. Il contributo ripercorre la storia dei contatti già noti tra i due autori e aggiunge un nuovo documento: l'inedito dramma in versi 'Messer Gentile' ispirato alla novella X 4. Il dramma, progettatto come atto unico con prologo e tre scene, rimase incompiuto: ci sono giunti soltanto il prologo e la prima scena, che sono sufficienti per apprezzare alcune delle dinamiche che caratterizzano la riscrittura. Dai versi emerge una fitta rete di riferimente alla tradizione poetica italiana delle origini e tra i manoscritti si ritrova un esperimento di prosa modulata sul ritmo continuato degli endecasillabi riconducibile all'idea di moderno teatro tragico di Pascoli.

    Description: It is not a heavenly, but rather a hellish Dante, who hovers over Ukrainian poetry of the twentieth century. He supports the persecuted rather than the adepts of the Soviet regime, who are mere functionaries. Dante leads the way for the stoic Ukrainian poets, such as Mykola Zerov, Iurij Klen, Vasyl’ Stus, and Lina Kostenko, who are fully aware of the risks they take in aspiring to longed-for moral freedom.

    Description: In the period following the Second World War Giulio Preti was one of the leading exponents of Italian philosophy. A master of open critical thought, cultivated in the light of a rationalism that dialogued with, and integrated into his own philosophical model, many of the currents and stances of the global research scenario. Phenomenology, Marxism, pragmatism, neopositivism, transcendentalism and structuralism: in Preti all of these found an organic and original synthesis. Further, his particular brand of rationalist-critical thought touched on many aspects of philosophical knowledge: theoretical philosophy, the philosophy of science, that of language and that of art, from ethics to politics and even taking in the history of philosophy, offering authoritative contributions in every sphere. One hundred years after his birth, the University of Florence and the heir to the Faculty in which he lectured at length, the Faculty of Education, has decided to honour his memory with this anthology of studies, penned by former pupils and others and also by younger scholars, to once again focus the wealth of this thought and its, in many respects, current relevance. Even now, this particular brand of open, critical rationalism can offer a benchmark for addressing the new issues for philosophical reflection thrown up by modern society and culture.

    Description: One of the initiatives on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of Dante’s death, carried out in Bulgaria in October 2021, consisted in the publication of a monographic issue of the weekly Literaturen vestnik in a bilingual version with the title “Ancora attuale, sempre divino: Literaturen vestnik celebra Dante.” Among the thematic features contained in this issue, an important place is occupied by three surveys conducted among Bulgarian secondary school teachers, university lecturers and poets. The surveys aim to outline how Dante’s work is currently perceived and to comment on the fact that – unbeknownst to most people – the Divina Commedia has been excluded from the literature curricula since the 2018-19 academic year.

    Description: The aim of this paper is to examine the influence of Dante Alighieri in the Macedonian cultural context through the translations and reception of his most important work, the Divina Commedia. The first part of the paper presents the translations of fragments of the poem published in the 1950s, translated by various Macedonian poets, and continues by presenting the translations by Georgi Stalev, who published parts of the poem in the 1960s, Inferno in 1967, and the whole poem (Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso) in 2006. The second part of the paper traces Dante’s impact on the literary works of Georgi Stalev, Bogomil Ǵuzel and Blaže Koneski as well as the poet’s influence in other domains of Macedonian culture.

    Description: Maximus the Greek (c. 1470-1555/1556), one of the most influential members of the Greek diaspora in Russia, arrived in Moscow from Constantinople with an official delegation (1518) and remained there until his death at the time of Ivan the Terrible. It was only in the second half of the last century that it was discovered Maximus the Greek must be identified with Michael Trivolis, a young Greek humanist educated in Florence at the end of the 15th century. Like many of his contemporaries, Trivolis had been influenced by the preaching of Girolamo Savonarola. Systematic research on the relation between the work of Savonarola and the humanists close to him and the writings of Maximus the Greek has not yet been conducted, but the data collected to date allow us to establish a close relationship within the context of certain religious, philosophical, and social themes. The examination of a text dedicated to the exercise of power by emperors and princes, the Discourse more extended, written by Maximus the Greek by the time of Ivan the Terrible, shows not only direct correlations with some of Savonarola’s cantos, but also the presence of images and themes from Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy and Cristoforo Landino’s Comento, starting with the idea of empire. The collections of Maximus the Greek’s writings, in which this Discourse appears, were widely disseminated, and left a deep mark on Russian culture.

    Description: In the complex panorama of Russian translations of Dante, Ol’ga Sedakova occupies a particularly important place, representing the figure of an intellectual who not only devoted long studies to Dante’s poetics and language as well as attempted translation, but who also introjected the themes and scope of his cultural heritage into her own work. In this essay, Sedakova’s poetic and translating career is analysed by showing how, from her first publications in the samizdat journals of the 1970s to her most recent publications in 2020, the figure of Dante, his work and themes have always been given central importance.

    Description: What is the role of interpretation—the close reading of individual texts—in cognitive literary studies? In attempting to come to grips with this vexed question, my article focuses on the complex divides that separate the practice of interpretation from cognitive-scientific research. I argue that cognitive literary studies can only fulfill their potential by moving beyond interpretation, and I survey lines of research that have already put into practice this intuition. Secondly, I explore a heuristic use of interpretation, where insights from cognitive science are leveraged—in what I call a “cognitive thematics”—to illuminate a background of metacognitive questions.

    Description: In her well-known song, ‘Når himmelen faller ned’ (‘When the Sky Falls Down’), the Norwegian musician Anne Grete Preus described snow as ‘celestial tipp-ex’ and a mighty ‘wonder’. But what exactly is it that snow corrects? And what gives snow its power? Snow’s Formulas: A Natural Phenomenon in Literature attempts to answer these and similar questions by discussing the motif of snow in the context of modernization processes marked by increasing instrumentalization and rationalization. Snow transforms landscapes and defies modernity’s innovations; it simultaneously obscures and accentuates, and also enchants. This process can be described in different ways: as the sublime’s breakthrough in a philosophical, aesthetic sense, or, in a poetological sense, as non-mimetic writing. This strategy plays out in language, and the objective of this study has been to investigate snow’s rhetoricity and how literary depictions of snow can be in response to the challenges of modernity. The book includes readings of texts by H.C. Andersen, Olaf Bull, Hans Børli, Paul Celan, Alexander Kielland, Jonas Lie, Tor Ulven and Tarjei Vesaas, among others. The relationship between snow and modernity is illustrated from a dual perspective. Emphasis is placed on the individual’s position and self-perception within the process of modernization, as well as on the aesthetical problems that arise when writing about snow. Snow makes a white surface; it ‘overwrites’ the ground and encourages a non-mimetic poetry. Snow can be said to be an engine of modern aesthetics that does not take language’s referential aspect for granted.

Men hva er det egentlig som snø må korrigere, og i hva består dens makt? Snøens formler: Et naturfenomen i litteraturen søker svar på slike spørsmål idet snømotivet diskuteres på bakgrunn av moderniseringsprosessen, kjennetegnet ved økende instrumentalisering og rasjonalisering. Snø forandrer landskapet og sier modernitetens nyttetenkning imot; den tildekker og aksentuerer samtidig og fortryller. Denne prosessen kan beskrives på forskjellige måter: som det sublimes gjennombrudd i filosofisk-estetisk henseende, eller, i poetologisk henseende, som en form for avrealisering. Denne strategien utspiller seg i språk, og formålet med denne studien er å granske snøens retorisitet og hvordan den litterære fremstillingen av snø svarer på modernitetens utfordringer. Boken inneholder lesninger av blant annet H.C. Andersen, Olaf Bull, Hans Børli, Paul Celan, Alexander Kielland, Jonas Lie, Tor Ulven og Tarjei Vesaas. Forholdet mellom snø og modernitet belyses fra et dobbeltperspektiv.     Description: This paper examines the reception of Dante among Serbs in the period between 1991 to 2021. It focuses on the complex state of Serbian Danteology in the crucial historical period in which Yugoslavia was beginning to crumble and Serbia was subjected to sanctions and isolated from the world, and which also includes the NATO bombings. The examination concludes in 2021, which coincides with the 700th anniversary of Dante’s death. The paper focuses primarily on translations of Dante’s works (mostly the Divine Comedy) by two Serbian translators, Dragan Mraović and later Kolja Mićević, but also on republished translations such as those by Dragiša Stanojević and Mihovil Kombol. The Serbian studies and theatrical performances of Dante’s work are also considered.

    Description: After 1989, the reception of Dante in the Czech Republic was no longer determined by the ideological control of the regime and became part of an open cultural context, competing with other themes and authors. The milestones of this new era were a new complete translation of the Comedy and the first complete translation of the De vulgari eloquentia, accompanied by other occasional initiatives, the production or translation of texts for the study of Dante and partial translations of Dante’s works. The weak point of reception remains the absence of Dante in school curricula.

    Description: In the history of scholarship on vernacular style, rhetoric, and prose rhythm, very little space has been given to 14th-century Tuscan short stories writers, such as Ser Giovanni, Franco Sacchetti, and Giovanni Sercambi. This article analyzes Ser Giovanni’s Pecorone with the aim of individuating stylistic, rhetorical, and rhythmic elements and of understanding their relationship with its model, Giovanni Boccaccio’s Decameron. Although Ser Giovanni did not have a direct knowledge of the artes dictaminis, the article shows how his deep reading of Boccaccio’s Decameron permitted him to recognize and put to use many of the rhetorical expedients he found in it.

    Description: What is fiction about, and what is it good for? An influential family of theories sees fiction as rooted in adaptive simulation mechanisms. In this view, our propensity to create and enjoy narrative fictions was selected and maintained due to the training that we get from mentally simulating situations relevant to our survival and reproduction. We put forward and test a precise version of this claim, the “ordeal simulation hypothesis”. It states that fictional narrative primarily simulates “ordeals”: situations where a person’s reaction might dramatically improve or decrease her fitness, such as deadly aggressions, or decisions on long-term matrimonial commitments. We study mortality in fictional and non-fictional texts as a partial test for this view. Based on an analysis of 744 extensive summaries of twentieth century American novels of various genres, we show that the odds of dying (in a given year) are vastly exaggerated in fiction compared to reality, but specifically more exaggerated for homicides as compared to suicides, accidents, war-related, or natural deaths. This evidence supports the ordeal simulation hypothesis but is also compatible with other accounts.

    Description: This paper focuses on the anabasis and katabasis narratives inspired by Dante in the works of the most representative Polish romantics: Adam Mickiewicz (1798-1855), Juliusz Słowacki (1809-1849), Zygmunt Krasiński (1812-1859) and Cyprian Kamil Norwid (1821-1883). It was the Divina Commedia which exercised the greatest influence on the poets, especially Inferno, which became a forerunner of the Polish reality itself. But whereas Dante’s Inferno is identified with the underworld, the Polish Romantics’ locus horridus coincides with the actual world. If the Dantesque journey is a katabasis to the underworld, the descent portrayed by Polish poets is an anabasis towards a volcano crater covered with lava and ice. Moreover, according to the martyrological view, the Polish reality in those days was not only a place of suffering and tribulation, but also of expiation, which was a preparation for the arrival of paradise on Earth.

    Description: In the early 19th-century, Milan was the most active Italian city in the publishing of books. There, collectors, librarians, scholars of ancient literature and young men of letters were protagonists in an intense activity of publishing classical texts. New editions of Divina Commedia, Petrarch's Rime, Boccaccio’s Decameron, Ariosto’s Orlando Furioso, Tasso’s Gerusalemme Liberata and of many works by writers of the 18th century were published in Milan, in particular by Società Tipografica de' Classici Italiani (Italian Classical Writers’ Printing Society). In a period rich in cultural and linguistic debates, even discussions on the procedures for publishing texts took on a new importance. By analysing the statements of the editors, investigating their textual choices, following their polemics, Alberto Cadioli, one of the well-known Italian textual bibliography scholars for the modern texts, underlines the importance of the «sana critica», the «sound criticism» – i.e. the philological practice, according to the language of that time - with which classical texts were published in Milan in the first decades of the 19th century. This book, that offers unknown data and a large documentation, reveals theoretical unexpectedly Modern observations and methodological indications, hidden in pages forgotten for many years.

    Description: «Auf Wiedersehen in Florenz!» Voci di ebrei tedeschi dall’Italia presents a new Italian perspective on German exile literature, which is related to the migration of German-Jewish intellectuals to Florence after 1933. A reconstruction of the historical context is provided by shedding light on the intersections between Italian, German and Jewish cultures in the Florentine context but also on the literary production of the involved authors. Migration writers such as Alice Berend, Rudolf Borchardt, Karl Wolfskehl and Walter Hasenclever are presented in relation to the process of writing in exile, whereas the works of Max Krell, Monika Mann, Otti Binswanger-Lilienthal and Georg Strauss are analyzed in the section devoted to post-exile.

    Description: The history of reflection on language is characterized by a singular ambiguity. For centuries, it has been carried on as if the existence of language and the cognitive-narrative capacities which derive from it were independently considered from the function that, on the other hand, founds and characterizes it, namely listening. We believe that the reason for this strangeness lies in the fact that there is no possible discourse on listening that does not lead to a discourse on the body, especially focusing on the body discourse of one's mother and her voice. On the contrary, this contribution aims to show that, in order to understand our history as talking and storytelling animals, it is important to reconstruct the specific journey that - in the course of both our phylogenesis and ontogenesis - the ear makes. It is, in fact, an organ already active in utero and on which, during our evolution, depends on both the emergence of the articulate voice and the bipedalism as well, as the posture par excellence of narration.

    Description: The essay proposes a study of the relationship between Tasso and Boccaccio, analysing the references to the ancient auctoritas present in Tasso's theoretical production. The sixteenth-century poet's interest in Boccaccio's works can be found in the author's epistolary, in the letters in which Tasso claims to be in possession of some of his texts or in those in which he explicitly requests them. As with Dante and Petrarch, the reading is careful and inclined to take the ancient source as a model for observations of a rhetorical, linguistic-grammatical and metrical nature. These observations form a non-systematic corpus of reflections on poetic language, an authentic reflection of an intimate dialogue between the author and Boccaccio.

    Description: The paper examines some critical aspects of the manuscript tradition of Boccaccio’s Corbaccio, starting from the results of the very few studies on the subject. Besides proposing an updated list of all the 79 available manuscripts that hand down the work, whose yet we don’t have any critical edition, he then demonstrates, through a number of examples, the benefits of widening perspective to the codes of the non-α family, but also of a comprehensive reconsideration of the status of α itself. In the absence of a solid classification of the whole manuscript tradition, the “traditional” hypothesis that the α2 group (and in particular the Mannelli codex) represents an advanced redaction of Boccaccio’s «umile trattato» risks to be too conditioning if assumed at such a preliminary stage.

    Description: In the present article, the author briefly retraces the stages of Dante’s reception in Ukraine, then analyzes the main Ukrainian translations of Dante’s Divine Comedy in the 20th-21st century, namely those by Petro Karmans’kyj, Jevhen Drob’jazko and Maksym Stricha. The author briefly dwells on Karmans’kyj’s translation, highlighting the flaws already noted by H. Kočur and M. Stricha. Then the author analyzes Drob’jazko’s and Stricha’s translations, the only two complete Ukrainian translations of the Divine Comedy published so far. The author particularly compares the translators’ approaches to potential difficulties (e.g., the rendering of verse lines or single words in Latin, the verse lines in Provencal in Purgatory, song XXVI, ll. 141-147; the translations of some characters’ names, especially speaking names), and highlights the merits of their long and accurate work, which finally allowed Ukrainian readers to truly experience the Italian national poet, on one side, and filled the gap that divided Ukrainian literature from the neighboring Polish and Russian literature, on the other.

    Description: The reception of Seneca’s Tragedies had a crucial moment during the 14th and early 15th centuries. In this period, after their recent rediscovery but before the extraordinary circulation across Europe in the Renaissance, Seneca’s plays attracted the attention of scholars and poets, and also of some exegetes who taught in Italian universities and schools. These cultural places represented a formidable medium for the dissemination of the Tragedies and the exegetical materials produced around them. In particular, an important role was played by Petrarch and Boccaccio, who read Tragedies and evoked them in their works, but also by some exegetes-professors such as Giovanni del Virgilio, Pietro da Moglio, Domenico Bandini, Bartolomeo del Regno and Petrus Parmensis, who focused their commentaries and lectures on Seneca’s plays. So, at first, this volume recalls the narrow spread of Seneca’s Tragedies up to Early Middle Ages, and examines their rediscovery, that was realized by Nicolaus Trevet and Paduan prehuminists Lovato de’ Lovati and Albertino Mussato, but which took place also in Tuscany and Bologna. Then, the book analyses the philological and interpretative reception of the Tragedies by Petrarch and Boccaccio, and the allusions to Seneca’s plays in the Expositio on Ovid’s Metamorphoses by Bolognese professor Giovanni del Virgilio, who may have influenced Petrarch. Furthermore, great attention is paid to the exegetic activity of Pietro da Moglio, professor in Bologna and Padua and author of poetic summaries of the Tragedies that were very popular. In detail, the volume contains a new edition of these text, which updates Giuseppe Billanovich’s edition on the basis of many recently rediscovered manuscripts. Then, the book explores the interest in Tragedies shown by Domenico Bandini, teacher in Bologna and Tuscany and close friend of Coluccio Salutati. A pupil of the latter, Lorenzo Ridolfi, in his youth wrote – almost certainly on Salutati’s advice – a proem and some original summaries of the Tragedies, an edition of which is offered in this volume for the first time. New investigations are also focused on the exegetical activity of Bartolomeo del Regno, student of Pietro da Moglio and professor in Bologna, and on an important manuscript of the Tragedies linked to him. Good attention is also given to the original glosses on the Tragedies written by Petrus Parmensis in a manuscript adorned with elegant miniatures, that show special features compared to the illustrations in other codices and textual commentaries composed by Trevet and Mussato. This continuous exegesis, multifaceted and also open to dialogue with the art of illumination, represented an indispensable point of reference for the pupils of such professors, including Coluccio Salutati, Francesco da Fiano and Francesco Piendibeni da Montepulciano, who were students of Pietro da Moglio before becoming humanists. After all, the book underlines that Francesco da Fiano and Francesco Piendibeni knew Seneca’s dramas, but also analyses the manuscript of Tragedies copied and annotated by Coluccio Salutati and lists all quotations from this plays in his Epistolary and De laboribus Herculis. Therefore, the ways followed by exegesis and fortune of Tragedies in the 14th century and at dawn of 15th, analyzed in this volume, offer an example of the multiple routes of the text’s tradition, but also an eloquent paradigm of the fact that Middle Ages and Humanism, far from being conceived as historical categories, in this era could productively dialogue on the level of hermeneutics and dissemination of knowledge.

    Description: Nowadays poverty can be defined as a construct that can no longer be ascribed to the material scarcity of resources but to the lack of all available relational, social and cultural resources, that are an expression of a “suffering” territory. This fragility testifies to a problem of educational sustainability that requires an exit from the emergency logic of “buffer interventions” by activating social, training and professional networks, capable of responding to the educational needs expressed by the territory. For this reason, in the epistemic framework of Civil and Digital-Civil Pedagogy, the need emerges for new professional profiles capable of being “managers” of integrated territorial development, educators-planners of territorial educational services with a view to social sustainability and the educational human transition.

    Description: This volume concerns the role of the Italian schools, the associations and their actors to counteract educational dispersion and encourage the inclusion of minors with a migratory background. The work is part of a collaboration project between Inapp (National Institute for Public Policy Analysis) and Aiig (Italian Association of Geography Teachers) aimed to map the “Analysis, training and territorial activities for preventing/countering the risks of educational dispersion of young people with a migratory background” (June 2022 - March 2023). This collaboration stems from a program agreement between Inapp and Ministry of Labor and Social Policies - General Directorate of Immigration, on “Citizen Integration Policies of Third Countries”. The first part, focused on theoretical aspects, develops the idea of a school as welcoming community, in which disciplines such as geography and tools such as digital teaching can be significant resources to draw on. Related to this, a specific focus on the socio-cultural development in the border and internal areas is underlined. The second part collects the empirical evidences emerging from some territorial laboratories and training courses organized by Inapp and Aiig in various Italian regions. These evidences represent the main results of a qualitative survey on risks of educational dropout of young people with a migratory background. A wealth of proposals together with successful and critical factors is unraveled. In the last section of the volume, these various and original practices are reported by teachers, school managers, and operators, representatives of voluntary organisations, associations and third sector. The idea was to carry out the research not on the actors of inclusion, but with them, giving voice to their experiences. It was a sort of an ideal journey from the north of Italy, where the presence of students with a migratory background is higher, to the south, considered the land of their arrival and transit.

Hvordan leser og skaper de tekster, og hvordan bidrar dette til å utruste dem til å bli gode lærere i fremtidens skole Utgangspunktet for denne boka er forskningsprosjektet DigiGLU som har undersøkt tekstpraksiser og medieringsformer i grunnskolelærerutdanninga (GLU) etter reformen i 2010. Spesielt har forskerne vært opptatt av hvilken rolle digitale medier og multimodale tekster spiller i lærerstudentenes arbeid. Digitale medier byr på nye muligheter for å kombinere skrift med bilder og lyd, for aktiv respons, interaktiv utprøving og sosial samhandling. Det har vært satset stort på digitalt utstyr i høyere utdanning gjennom en årrekke, men arbeidsformene har ikke forandret seg tilsvarende. I denne boka analyserer forfatterne konkrete arbeidskrav og trekker inn studentenes refleksjoner omkring hvordan tekster og medier fungerer i læringsprosesser i ulike fag. De understreker betydningen av relasjoner som gjør at de føler seg sett og tatt alvorlig. Gjennom studiet utvikler studentene seg både faglig og personlig, de erfarer en transformasjon. Sentralt i boken er refleksjoner rundt studentenes erfaringer, vilkårene for god studielivskvalitet og utfordringer knyttet til den rådende forståelsen av kvalitet i dagens høyere utdanning.

    Description: The text highlights the lines of the research crossed by Paolo Federighi in his forty-year professional career within the University of Florence and the European institutions. We take the opportunity of this perusal to problematize the discipline, Adult Education, through a semantic and lexicographic analysis which aims to bring to light the history and theory of Adult Education from its beginnings in Italian society and culture in the period after the Second World War to date. The pedagogical-educational knowledge forming the building blocks of the discipline cannot be separated from scientific research and methodological results. The second part of the essay sets out to understand which research methodology can be more appropriate to respond to the needs of a constantly evolving and rapidly changing civil society. The third and fourth parts reflect on a human and scientific itinerary always pointed towards the lodestar of educational innovation and educational transformation.

    Description: "How do you really become a skilled teacher? And what role should guidance play in the education of tomorrow's teachers? This theme is explored through a study of experienced practitioners' formalized counseling conversations with teacher students. The most important questions in the book are about how the practice teacher and teacher conduct conversations. Concretely, the question is: What is the content of the counseling interviews? How are the teacher students evaluated? How is the consequences of the counseling discussions understood? The guide being examined contains a step by step pedagogy. First, the teacher's student must learn to control, master and reflect on the social space both the classroom and the counseling conversation are. This is described as an overall moral and regulatory discourse. This discourse forms the basis for the teacher's next step - which is the actual teaching. The teacher's student must therefore master two discourses - one regulatory discourse and one teaching discourse - in order to become a skilled teacher. In addition, he or she must adapt to the regulatory discourse in the counseling conversation. The latter discourse represents in this book an initiation ritual for the teaching profession. This ritual gives the practice teacher control over the dedication, while limiting the room for maneuver in the counseling conversation. "

Dette beskrives som en overordnet moralsk og regulerende diskurs. Denne diskursen danner grunnlaget for lærerstudentens neste trinn – som er selve undervisningen. Lærerstudenten må altså beherske to diskurser – én regulerende diskurs og én undervisningsdiskurs – for å bli en dyktig lærer. I tillegg må han eller hun tilpasse seg den regulerende diskursen i veiledningssamtalen. Den sistnevnte diskursen representerer i denne boka et innvielsesritual til læreryrket. Dette ritualet gir praksislæreren kontroll over innvielsen, samtidig som det begrenser handlingsrommet i veiledningssamtalen."

The case study describes the design of 360° video storyboards and the creation of the video by the use of 360° cameras for reproducing a sensory laboratory environment.     Description: Restructuring personal and vocational training by means of the harbinger of a not merely economistic idea of employability represents a fundamental and ineradicable task of educational research and pedagogical reflection. The most obvious effect of such a re-understanding of employability in its function as a pedagogical principle and catalyst of formation, because of its dimension of connaturality with the subjective educational trajectory, is that of reinterpreting transition processes not from a discontinuous perspective, but from a process perspective.     Description: PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) er en internasjonal undersøkelse av 15-åringers kompetanser i noen sentrale fagområder – lesing, matematikk og naturfag. Avanguardia dello stesso multiculturalismo, con una presenza straniera che da sempre l’ha strutturalmente segnata, seppur esigua al confronto con altri Paesi, l’università si trova oggi a rispondere a nuove sfide, che partono da una ridefinizione, quantitativa e qualitativa, della popolazione studentesca di cittadinanza non italiana: accanto alla figura più classica dello studente internazionale, che sceglie l’Italia come meta dei suoi studi e che vi arriva ponendo questo come suo obiettivo prioritario, si afferma oggi la presenza di quegli studenti, figli delle migrazioni, che si affacciano al mondo accademico dopo un’esperienza di scolarizzazione e di inserimento sociale non sempre semplice e lineare. Il volume, oltre a inquadrare gli scenari generali riferiti alla società e alla città multiculturale, all’internazionalizzazione degli studi, documenta un lavoro di ricerca pedagogica, con aperture anche alle scienze sociali e geografiche, svolto nell’Università dell’Aquila. L’indagine sul campo ha mirato a ricostruire i background, i percorsi accademici, i bisogni formativi, i problemi dell’inserimento sociale degli studenti internazionali e degli studenti stranieri scolarizzati in Italia, prestando particolare attenzione anche ai temi della socialità, della reciprocità, del pregiudizio e dell’inclusione anche in riferimento agli studenti italiani. La ricerca, ma anche l’azione: L’Aquila, una città universitaria ancora segnata dal sisma del 2009 e dall’alterazione dei rapporti sociali. Nel volume si riportano la descrizione e i principali risultati del progetto “Unidiversità” (FEI, annualità 2013, Azione 7, PROG-1059381), all’interno del quale si è puntato alla formazione di una nuova figura professionale, il tutore della convivenza, e alla sua implementazione in ambito accademico e urbano. Il libro si rivolge agli studiosi, agli amministratori, al mondo del volontariato e, naturalmente, agli studenti, per offrire un contributo tanto nell’ottica della conoscenza di una realtà ancora poco studiata, quanto come riferimento per la costruzione di buone prassi.

    Description: Denne boken handler om leseferdighetene til elever i 10-årsalderen. I Norge er elevene da på 4. og 5. klassetrinn, og det forventes at de i stadig større grad skal bruke lesing for å lære fag. Hvordan står det til med barnas leseferdigheter? Gjennom leseundersøkelsen PIRLS (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study) blir vi kjent med 10-åringenes lesing. I tillegg til å kartlegge hvor godt barna leser, gir PIRLS også viktig informasjon om forhold som påvirker utvikling av leseferdigheter. Hvilken betydning har alder ved skolestart, klassestørrelse, lærerens kompetanse og rektors holdninger? Hvilke forskjeller er det mellom lesekompetansen til gutter og jenter, og hvordan følger skolen opp dem som strever? Og hva skjer når elevene leser digitalt? Siden PIRLS har blitt gjennomført hvert femte år siden 2001, kan vi også studere utviklingen i leseferdigheter over tid. I denne boken presenteres resultatene fra PIRLS 2016. Oppmerksomheten er særlig rettet mot norske forhold. Fordi PIRLS gjennomføres i over 50 land, kan vi også gi et detaljert bilde av hvordan norske elever klarer seg sammenlignet med elever internasjonalt.     Description: "Studenten skal bli lærer presenterer den første norske studien av tilhørighet i høyere utdanning. Forståelse og utvikling av kunnskap er sentrale temaer, og studenters danning belyses, uten at danning blir eksplisitt diskutert i alle bidragene. Mange av forfatterne er opptatt av samspillet mellom episteme, techne og fronesis i forhold til den enkeltes vekst og profesjonelle kompetanseutvikling. Med lærerstudenter fra 1.–4. årskull som informanter favner artiklene bredt og gir ny kunnskap og nye teoretiske vinklinger. I antologien stilles det blant annet spørsmål ved dualismen som ofte påpekes mellom teoretisk og erfaringsbasert kunnskap. Kanskje er det heller sånn at kunnskap produseres sirkulært mellom forelesningssal og praksisfeltet? Videre fremgår det også at opplevelsen av sosial tilhørighet ser ut til å være en forutsetning for akademisk tilhørighet, og at medstudenter sammen med faglærere har stor betydning.     Description: In Italy, women have been able to graduate only since 1875; in Florence, at the end of the century, just fifteen women obtained the graduation at the Institute of Higher Studies. The Libraries of the University of Florence, heirs to the Institute, have intended to celebrate those first female graduates (1875-1940) and their stories, by cataloguing, digitalizing and publishing online their thesis. The oldest or most significant ones, with archival materials, photos and publications, have been exhibited at the Humanities Library. This volume illustrates the exposition and the outcome of this original documentation, thus allowing to define the peculiarities of the Florentine reality, offering the opportunity for further studies and giving visibility to women who have played a substantial role in the Italian culture, so as to not lose their memory.

    Description: According to the Maastricht Treaty, the responsibility for the organisation and content of education and training systems lies with the Member States. However, the Community contributes to the development of quality education and the European dimension of teaching by encouraging cooperation between Member States. Europeanisation of national education systems in the European Union is both the effect of a top-down political process, with different levels of governance, and the result of a bottom-up movement. The main agents are the teachers themselves: European mobility, both physical and virtual, improves their professional practice and helps to develop their sense of belonging to a European teaching and learning community. Despite the central role played by teachers in the integration of national education systems into the European Education Area, the profile and the key competencies of the ‘European teacher’ have not been defined in European Union policy documents.

    Description: TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) er en internasjonal komparativ undersøkelse som måler elevenes kompetanse i matematikk og naturfag. TIMSS gjennomføres både på barnetrinnet og på ungdomstrinnet.     Description: Several associations in Italy are involved in pediatric disease and support for children and adolescents in conditions of medical complexity, with Tuscany boasting a territory particularly committed to social issues. This study aims to understand if currently in Tuscany there are associations engaged in promoting the sense of school belonging of the student with pathology. In order to achieve this objective, Tuscan associations have been mapped using five different mapping methods. Only one association was found through this mapping. The psychologist at the association was interviewed to understand the point of view of the association on this topic.

    Description: Kan vi arbeide med metodar i skulen utan å trekkje inn innhald og mål? Kva kan digital teknologi gje av pedagogisk meirverdi? Denne boka handlar om det som skjer når danningsteori møter utfordringane med digital teknologi i skulen og særleg med bruken av mobile einingar (m-læring) i lærarutdanninga. Undervisningstema som er drøfta, er filosofi og etikk, engelsk litteratur og kunst og handverk. Sentrale perspektiv er henta frå den tyske teoretikaren Wolfgang Klafki (1927–2016). Klafkis kategoriale danningsteori blir kritisk drøfta i lys av dagens digitale utfordringar, og mottakinga av teorien hans i norsk pedagogikk og didaktikk blir òg vurdert. Forfattarane argumenterer for at Klafki framleis er aktuell. Eit sentralt poeng for Klafki var at danning er tosidig; ho har alltid både ei formal og ei materiell side. Vi kan ikkje «lære å lære» utan å lære noko. Han peika også på at det konkrete emnet har ei generell side, ein kategori, av større eller mindre danningsverdi. For å kunne velje læringsstoff og metode, må læraren og læreplanmakaren må ha ein fagleg idé om kva dette kan vere.

    Description: Cartoline is a didactic method practised by the studies center "Yad Vashem". Starting from the observation and the study of an image, pupils and teachers think about it invlving themselves in a dynamic lesson stimulated by some guided-questions the teacher made. The teachers asked students to create a circle where some images are putted into. Students are asked to choose one of them and to write a words the image suggest them. The image is not contextualized and it shows daily item as a glass of milk or common action as petting an animal. Only afterward the teacher is going to contextualize the image: the glass of milk rapresent the amount of calories (184) assumed by prisoners in concentration camp. A discussion with students is launched.

    Description: Adulthood, once defined as a goal, today, has increasingly blurred outlines. While many speak of "adultescenza" (adult-adolescent) to describe the situation of those who interpret their adulthood in adolescent terms, today, we have, in one way, less certainty, in another way, more possibilities. For example, social sciences assign adolescents the task of choosing, where reality confirms that the choices taken in adolescence are not "for life," but circumstantial. Adolescents, rather, discover; adults rediscover. Thus, in adulthood, a detachment from the family of origin can take place which in adolescence was thought inconceivable: freedom, autonomy and responsibility can finally be considered adult goals, because the family of origin sometimes still has to-be-thought-of.

    Description: In view of the increasing number of social enterprises in recent years, the European Commission (2020) has undertaken a mapping study (2014-2020) of social ecosystems in order to understand their evolution, activities, and professional profiles. In Italy, workers in social enterprises account for 53% (ISTAT 2020) of the majority of which consist of/include workers in the social and care services. It is specifically within these services that the «value of knowledge and skills that are not only specifically technical-professional but also strategic and transversal, cognitive and metacognitive, reflective» (Epifani 2003, 23) is becoming increasingly important, in line with the current indications of the European Skills Agenda (European Commission 2021). This phenomenon concerns even more particularly the intermediate functions, i.e. those support positions, which in part hold management and coordination functions (Abhervé and Dubois 2009). In light of this framework, this study investigates the figure of the personal services coordinator, i.e. a second-level professional who, working both in the educational and in the managerial, combines his actions between very different areas of competence.

    Description: Nowadays, scientific literacy is a key aspect for active citizenship and for making informed decisions regarding scientific issues of everyday life. However, the PISA 2018 data highlight the low scientific competence of the upper secondary school students, underlining the need to foster STEM teaching. In particular, the use of the so-called X-Reality for acquiring scientific skills and to increase interest in the discipline seem promising. During the first year of my PhD, I carried out a scoping review on STEM teaching with X-Reality in the context of secondary school. The main purpose was to draw a state-of-the-art regarding X-Reality use, focusing on potential, critical aspects and challenges. After the search and selection process, 10 articles were included in the analysis. The results showed the effectiveness of X-Reality in promoting the achievement of learning objectives, the interest in the discipline and the long-term retention of knowledge. These results will be the starting point for setting up the empirical part of the PhD project.

    Description: The contribution reconstructs the work of innovation carried out by Cosimo Ridolfi in the Agricultural Institute of Meleto in Val d'Elsa, as a paradigmatic example of the relationship between theory and practice and a model example of school-work alternation.     Description: What does the growing interest of literary criticism towards the representation of nature and its ethical implications tell us?     Description: Author of Architettura del medioevo in Sardegna which won him the Premio Nazionale Olivetti in 1956, Raffaello Delogu was an art historian and Commissioner for Antiquities and Monuments in Sardinia, Abruzzo and Sicily. His correspondence with one of the most eminent Italian writers of the second half of the twentieth century, as transcribed and lavishly annotated here by Monica Graceffa, reveals him not only as a committed intellectual devoted to the study of ancient and modern art, but also as a caustic and playful friend. His dialogue with Giuseppe Dessí commenced in their youth, when Dessí was an amateur painter on the way to maturity, who instead rapidly developed into a mature writer and attentive connoisseur of all forms of art. In addition to their studies and mutual friends (including Claudio Varese and Maria Lai), they also shared an interest in painting and in what Dessí was experiencing (his moves, his political passion) and what he was writing (fiction, drama, essays); important in this regard are the letters touching on the collaboration of both on the Sardinian issue of Pietro Calamandrei's «Il Ponte».

    Description: This volume brings together 474 letters that Luciano Anceschi and Oreste Macrí wrote each other for 50 years. The strong point of the deep (and maybe unexpected) friendship between the two critics – based on the shared and fierce activism, on the common outlook of an «uncompromising humanism» – is curiously a dialectical progression that almost always excludes the perspective of a total agreement. It is a dialogue that springs from differences, and that exhorts to think about them. After the Second World War, the protagonists of the correspondence started to relaxedly discuss about the present and future of the European cultural civilization, the meaning of a literature that seems to illustrate a permanent state of crisis, and the events that gave life to the literary debate until the threshold of the new millennium, between post-hermetic tendencies and new experimentalisms.

    Description: As scattered pieces of a composite artistic path to be reassembled, the personal notes, writing tests, private letters and reviews kept by Giuseppe Dessí over the years allow Nicola Turi, who had already been following the author’s footsteps for some time, to reconstruct the sources of inspiration, the composition and revision processes, as well as the main stages of the critical reception of a work crossing the best part of the 20th century in Italy with an elegant gait which constantly brings it in on the same level as the great European models: a philosophical background which is always up to date, and the very fine sensitivity of someone who knows how to grasp the imperceptible movements of the human soul and the great changes of history at the same time.     Description: This book is dedicated to the poetics in the Italian language that have spread around Italy over the last thirty years, also as a consequence of the migratory waves from the South-East to the North-West of the world. After years of research, the authors have selected a sample of twelve poets, who for different reasons have adopted Italian as the language of their literary expression. These authors come from the Balkans (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania), from Eastern Europe (Romania, Poland), from central-northern Europe (Austria, Germany), but also from Latin American countries (Brazil, Argentina , Chile), the Middle East (Iran and Iraq), and the Africa (Senegal). This volume features a long critical introduction and an updated bibliography, and studies the issue of migration from a cultural, literary and linguistic perspective, further investigating the work of individual poets in relation to their culture of origin and their use of the language (or languages), touching current and complex notions and issues such as otherness, interculturality, evolution of identity, migration and relationship between the multicultural and multilingual writing and the contemporary Italian poetic tradition and its canon. The unpublished interviews concluding the volume were made at the authors’ places of residence and reconstruct their biographical and artistic path and their idea of language, translation, literature, home country and nationality.

    Description: In un frammento pubblicato il 10 dicembre 1810 nei suoi «Berliner Abendblätter», Heinrich von Kleist sosteneva che “gli uomini si potrebbero dividere in due categorie: quelli che si intendono di metafore e quelli che si intendono di formule”. A due secoli di distanza, questo volume prende a prestito la coppia kleistiana “formula e metafora” per indagare le sorti dello scienziato come personaggio nelle letterature e culture di una contemporaneità intesa nel senso più ampio possibile. Lo scienziato – benefattore o criminale, saggio o irresponsabile, opportunista o pazzo, freddo calcolatore o debole strumento del potere, personaggio comico o tragico, drammatico o grottesco – è uno dei protagonisti della cultura contemporanea. Che si tratti di personalità storiche o di figure d’invenzione, alimentate da prototipi letterari e da stereotipi di varia matrice, uomini di scienza popolano le più varie opere di finzione da fine Ottocento a oggi: il volume ne indaga ventisei esempi, spaziando fra letteratura, teatro e cinema nei mondi di lingua francese, inglese, italiana, polacca, russa, spagnola, svedese e tedesca. Le molteplici declinazioni del personaggio-scienziato sono lo specchio più o meno deformato di eventi e problemi che hanno alimentato l’inesausto interrogarsi dell’intellettuale moderno sul rapporto fra scienza, arte e società.     Description: Over the last decade, considerable attention has been paid to how the information society and digital tools are changing the cultural and linguistic scene where literary production takes place. But what are the roots of this change and of the consequent debate? This book was created with the aim of studying how two of the most influential Italian writers of the second half of the 20th century, Italo Calvino and Paolo Volponi reacted to the initial diffusion of information technologies in the mid-fifties by wondering about the function of literary language and artistic creativity in a context of intelligent machines and mass information. Eleonora Lima carefully analyses some of the lesser known texts by the two authors, and discusses the opposition between the natural and the technological world in a society where information has become a product and a good to be exploited. She reconstructs the prerogatives and identities of biological and mechanical subjects, as defined by the then emerging cybernetic science. Finally, she investigates the political role of television representation in the years of dispute and terrorism. The comparative analyses, organized by thematic nuclei which are preceded by an overall historical and methodological framework, reveal the ways in which a 'remediation' process took place in writing, and show how, with new and often divergent strategies, the two narrators have faced the need to adapt literary tools to the changed communication context in a very personal way.

    Description: In his theoretical writings Calvino puts forward a suggestive idea, inspired by Borges, of the library not only as a collection of works, but as a crossed system of combinations. Under this light, literature itself would be a library, continuously subject to changes and aimed at undermining the canonical authors in order to bring out the apocrypha. In fact, if it is true that literature is born from desire and feeds on it, it cannot be satisfied with the data, but strives to project itself in the realm of the hidden, invisible and far away reality. Libraries, then, are not only infinite, but they change the sense of a book according to the section in which it is placed, to its location, to the methods of consultation and use, to the way the book plays with spaces and light, to its coming to the light or its being in search for the shadows (books in skyscrapers or undergrounds). The library is a place where books and readers interact in mythical spaces. Libraries are collections of narratives and not only of the books that survived the catastrophes of history, but also of the burned books, of the books which have been lost or invented. Libraries treasure all books which, by the mere fact of having been at least once written or thought, have left their mark in the world. This charming and precious book, conceived and edited by Anna Dolfi, offers examples from the major modern literature, inviting the readers to reflect on the relationship between paper and celluloid shadows, between inconturnables and marginalia, looking for books inside libraries and libraries inside books. In the background the reader will enjoy the music, the brilliant acting of Carmelo Bene, the strips of the graphics, the architectural projects, the computer screens, and the pages of an unfinished novel by Giuseppe Dessí that speaks of a walled up library and of a cascade of books at the origin of a fiction novel.

    Description: Vincenzo Consolo: gli anni de «l’Unità» (1992-2012), ovvero la poetica della colpa-espiazione analyses the frequent collaboration between Vincenzo Consolo (1933-2012) and the Italian newspaper «l’Unità», which started in the 1990s and would continue until the author’s death. This collaboration reveals a form of political protagonism which the writer had originally shied away from. Over this period of time, in his written pieces, Consolo turns from the «contastorie consolatorio» (a consoling storyteller) into a Benjamin-style narrator, offering the new generations a progressive life model based on his own youthful experiences. This artistic development reflects in a similar transformation within his narration, and explains the reason behind the use of the first person narrator, that «impudico io» (the “impure I”), as the author himself puts it. This form of literary experimentation, which differs from the work he carried out over the previous decades, allows the writer to atone for not having done more in the Seventies and the Eighties to improve the social, environmental and political degradation whose spread he had witnessed.

    Description: In these private notes, the quest for the self appears like a journey of dual metaphorical significance through the intricate weft of the pages and the labyrinth of life. The Diari 1952-1962 of Giuseppe Dessí are presented here in Franca Linari's meticulous transcription accompanied by an introduction and an attentive commentary by Francesca Nencioni. Following the previous volumes, which made it possible to reconstruct the history of his youthful education and the productions of his early maturity, this one now reveals significant changes in the writer's life. A new female figure (Luisa) accompanies a period in which the narrative production that has become the dominant passion becomes decidedly more intensive and continuative, hand-in-hand with an increase in the collaborations with journals and the desire to experiment new forms of expression ushered in by the theatre.

    Description: The volume is a commentary on Don DeLillo’s hypertrophic novel Underworld (1997). Starting from the analysis of the text – which intertwines several plots, locations and point of view –, Nicola Turi retraces the entire production of the author to follow the evolution of themes (paranoia, nuclear threat, alienation, violence…) and textual strategies. At the same times he considers some widespread trends in the contemporary novel which Underworld, narrative tableau of the United States of the second twentieth century, embodies or anticipates: the resumption of the collective novel; the construction of characters drawn from reality; the continuous interaction between verbal representation and image (both static and moving).

    Description: Girolamo Borsieri (Como 1588-1629), a versatile intellectual of ranging interests, was greatly appreciated by his contemporaries for the breadth of his literary, artistic and historical knowledge and for his witty and laconic style. Among his admirers were Federico Borromeo and Giovan Battista Marino. In the twentieth century his intellectual standing was acknowledged in works of art history criticism, which were followed by other contributions of literary, linguistic and musicological interest. Despite this, even now many of his works appear to have been somewhat neglected. Starting from the writer's own reflections and the suggestions offered by the critics, the present work proposes a key to the reading of Borsieri as a man, an intellectual and a theorist. It is a monograph on Girolamo Borsieri, constructed largely upon first-hand manuscript and autograph materials that make it possible to sketch his biographical profile and the why and how of his participation in the cultural and religious renewal of Lombard society in the early decades of the seventeenth century. Borsieri's writings are presented, and their critical reception traced. His sacred madrigals – Il Salterio Affetti Spirituali – are also published here for the first time, from the autograph.

    Description: Despite the many studies on the author and the wealth of data on his academic education, relatively little was known of the high school years of Giorgio Bassani and the decisive encounters during those years. This book, rich in data and discoveries, traces precisely that dark area, identifies in Francesco Viviani the first of the Masters who, well beyond the period spent in the classrooms, would have exerted a profound influence on the future writer. The Greek and Latin texts read in those distant times are among those indicated by Professor Guzzo in Dietro la porta (Behind the Door), confirming the profoundly educational role that classical culture had had for the genesis of the ethical commitment and the search for truth which is the basis of all the Bassanian writing. Catullo, Alceo and especially Orazio will become for Bassani, according to Claudio Cazzola's analysis, examples to be emulated with refined allusive art, suggesting a compositional method that sees in a tireless limae labor the secret and authentic justification for the existence not only of Ferrara novel but also of its author.
