    Description: The art of printing with movable type made its appearance in Perugia -then as now, the heart of Italy- in 1471, when the city was under the sway of Braccio Baglioni. Perugia was home to an important university which had been attracting students from all over Europe for more than a century. They found hospitality in two colleges, of which the ‘Sapienza Vecchia’, in particular, was accustomed to accommodating students from abroad. The colleges were themselves instrumental in assisting the work of the earliest printers, all of them foreigners; their enterprise flourished for about fifteen years before strong competition from larger printing centres, notably Venice, took control of the Perugian book market. A second phase in local book production started at the turn of the century under the aegis of two major players, the Cartolari family and Bianchino dal Leone. The history of the book in Perugia is characterized by a quality and originality which is not reflected in the modest quantities produced there, and the major bibliographers have always taken an interest in it. All that and more can be found in this book, the outcome of lengthy research based on detailed analysis of all known editions and archival documents, including a number of new discoveries.

This book is an integral part of a research project at Radboud university medical center into person-centred care. With it, we hope to contribute to a positive, hopeful vision of ever-improving Parkinson’s care.

    Description: Nowadays poverty can be defined as a construct that can no longer be ascribed to the material scarcity of resources but to the lack of all available relational, social and cultural resources, that are an expression of a “suffering” territory. This fragility testifies to a problem of educational sustainability that requires an exit from the emergency logic of “buffer interventions” by activating social, training and professional networks, capable of responding to the educational needs expressed by the territory. For this reason, in the epistemic framework of Civil and Digital-Civil Pedagogy, the need emerges for new professional profiles capable of being “managers” of integrated territorial development, educators-planners of territorial educational services with a view to social sustainability and the educational human transition.

    Description: The separative logic is not educational. The essay reviews the historical events that have generated an undervaluation of vocational training pathways compared to education pathways. This "minority" of perception and legislation stems from a logic of separation with many faces which, taken all together, with etiological spirit and historical-ordinamental contextualization, explain the "untenable" inferiority of vocational education: people (the 'inferiors') and political-bureaucratic elite (the 'superiors'), nature and culture, man and citizen, etc. These separations concerned the idea of labor (one among them, the opposition between 'manual labor' and 'intellectual labor') and did not allow for increasing the educational power of it. Only a logic of integration (embedded and embodied) can defuse the ideas of separation and provide an organic and holistic image of education.

L’esperienza nasce dalla volontà di progettare e condividere un percorso di realizzazione di programmi di formazione sulla cittadinanza attiva e partecipata, oltre che sulla prevenzione e sul superamento di tutte le forme di discriminazione e di intolleranza, tramite l’utilizzo di metodologie che possano essere trasversalmente contestualizzate all’interno della formazione scolastica, di quella universitaria e della formazione delle professionalità educative e sociali in generale. L’approccio di ricerca-azione e l’asse Associazioni-Scuola-Università si ritrova nell’ossatura dell’intero volume che, ad una prima parte di orientamento teorico in cui ci si sofferma sugli elementi cardine del nostro discorso pedagogico (intercultura, integrazione, narrazione), fa seguire altre tre sezioni a carattere operativo-metodologico descritte da tutti gli attori protagonisti del progetto.

Students must learn to write in new genres, and their teachers not only need to write but also help others develop their own writing. Even though writing is often essential for learning a discipline and developing a professional identity, these aspects are often overlooked in academic settings. A surprising number of us struggle with writing, and often do so alone. Writing touches upon deeply personal processes concerning who we are in the eyes of others and how we view ourselves. This book elucidates the creative and subjective sides of professional and academic writing, which are in fact quite similar to those of literary writing. In the interview material, students and researchers share their experiences of the difficulties and the joys of writing, as well as personal decisions they have made in the course of becoming creative writers in their fields. In the discussion, a conceptual repertoire is developed from the philosophy of education, theories of identity development and recognition, to transcend the common belief that writing is something we either can or cannot master. The book will be of use to those who help others to write, and a source of inspiration for those who struggle with their own writing.     Description: This volume concerns the role of the Italian schools, the associations and their actors to counteract educational dispersion and encourage the inclusion of minors with a migratory background. The work is part of a collaboration project between Inapp (National Institute for Public Policy Analysis) and Aiig (Italian Association of Geography Teachers) aimed to map the “Analysis, training and territorial activities for preventing/countering the risks of educational dispersion of young people with a migratory background” (June 2022 - March 2023). This collaboration stems from a program agreement between Inapp and Ministry of Labor and Social Policies - General Directorate of Immigration, on “Citizen Integration Policies of Third Countries”. The first part, focused on theoretical aspects, develops the idea of a school as welcoming community, in which disciplines such as geography and tools such as digital teaching can be significant resources to draw on. Related to this, a specific focus on the socio-cultural development in the border and internal areas is underlined. The second part collects the empirical evidences emerging from some territorial laboratories and training courses organized by Inapp and Aiig in various Italian regions. These evidences represent the main results of a qualitative survey on risks of educational dropout of young people with a migratory background. A wealth of proposals together with successful and critical factors is unraveled. In the last section of the volume, these various and original practices are reported by teachers, school managers, and operators, representatives of voluntary organisations, associations and third sector. The idea was to carry out the research not on the actors of inclusion, but with them, giving voice to their experiences. It was a sort of an ideal journey from the north of Italy, where the presence of students with a migratory background is higher, to the south, considered the land of their arrival and transit.

    Description: In A monument to the country. Official statistics in Belgium, 1795-1870, Nele Bracke unravels why and how the Belgian state and its predecessors organized and developed an official statistical apparatus in order to collect numerical information. The study captures the underlying objectives and structures, as well as the methods to compile statistics. Nele Bracke investigates the meaning and significance of government statistics in the 19th-century State and society. In Belgium, early social scientists established an internationally renowned ‘statistical system’ designed to collect information about the country, the people and the society. This ‘statistical system’ was built around the ‘Commission centrale de Statistique’ (statistical committee) and the production of demographic, economic and agricultural censuses. In the first part of the book, the author analyzes the institutional history of the ‘Commission centrale de Statistique’ and its predecessors. In the second part of the book, she studies the censuses.

Spesielt har forskerne vært opptatt av hvilken rolle digitale medier og multimodale tekster spiller i lærerstudentenes arbeid. Digitale medier byr på nye muligheter for å kombinere skrift med bilder og lyd, for aktiv respons, interaktiv utprøving og sosial samhandling. Det har vært satset stort på digitalt utstyr i høyere utdanning gjennom en årrekke, men arbeidsformene har ikke forandret seg tilsvarende. I denne boka analyserer forfatterne konkrete arbeidskrav og trekker inn studentenes refleksjoner omkring hvordan tekster og medier fungerer i læringsprosesser i ulike fag. Det er etablert på basis av en kvalitativ studie om studenters erfaringer med og opplevelse av kvalitet i det studiet de er en del av. Begrepet studielivskvalitet er et supplement til kvalitet forstått som målbarhet, nytte og effektivitet. Det består av de fem dimensjonene struktur, mestring, aktivitet, relasjon og transformasjon, forkortet til akronymet SMART. Studentene legger vekt på struktur og forutsigbarhet, samt krav og forventninger som er klare. De er opptatt av betydningen av mestringserfaringer og mestringstillit samt aktiviteter som fremmer dialog og samarbeid om læring. De understreker betydningen av relasjoner som gjør at de føler seg sett og tatt alvorlig. Gjennom studiet utvikler studentene seg både faglig og personlig, de erfarer en transformasjon. Sentralt i boken er refleksjoner rundt studentenes erfaringer, vilkårene for god studielivskvalitet og utfordringer knyttet til den rådende forståelsen av kvalitet i dagens høyere utdanning.

    Description: The evolution of the complex school system, from its origins to school autonomy, explains the reason for the connotation of complexity, which it has acquired over time. The school as organization and as institution therefore is a complex system where leaders and managers become a single person, identified in the School Manager who acts on the basis of continuous improvement. The characteristic features of the managerial function and of the school institution become: governance, leadership, manager, research, communication, organizational culture, and empowerment. The organizational culture understood as sharing assumptions, meanings, values and behaviors, becomes a useful means to achieve the institutional mandate, that is, to ensure student educational success.

    Description: Fordommer sitter i språket og i måten vi snakker på. De kommer til uttrykk på forskjellige måter og kan brukes både som humor og hatefulle ytringer. Ofte bruker vi fordommer uten at vi engang er klar over det. Men hva er egentlig fordommer? Og hvem rammes av fordommene? Dette er relevante spørsmål i dagens skole. I Fagfornyelsen legges det vekt på at skolen «skal fremme demokratiske verdier og holdninger som motvekt mot fordommer og diskriminering». For å kunne jobbe aktivt med forebyggende arbeid i skolen er det derfor nødvendig å vite noe om hvordan og hvorfor fordommer oppstår, hvordan de brukes, og hvem som rammes. I Fordommer i skolen: Gruppekonstruksjoner, utenforskap og inkludering undersøker vi hvordan fordommer kommer til uttrykk blant elever, hvilke strategier lærere har for å håndtere fordomsfulle utsagn, og hvordan fordommer brukes og spilles ut i klasserommet. I boken analyseres også hvordan fordommer og ulike forståelser av fenomenet inngår som tema i opplæringsloven og i læreplanverket, og hvordan ulike minoritetsgrupper har blitt og fremdeles blir fremstilt i skolens læreverk. Et viktig formål med boken er å gi konkrete eksempler på utforskende undervisning og mulige undervisningsstrategier for å kunne forebygge og motvirke fordommer i skolen i dag. Boken er forskningsbasert og inneholder bidrag fra en rekke ulike fagfelt. Bidragene er relevante for lærerutdanning, lektorutdanning og PPU. Boken er også aktuell for skoleledere, rådgivere og lærere både i ungdomsskolen og på videregående trinn.

    Description: The research project Beatrijs Internationaal brought together about a hundred literary translators and researchers in the field of historical and modern Dutch literature, translation studies and related disciplines, from twenty different language areas. The participants immersed themselves in questions about the international circulation and reception of the famous Middle Dutch legend of Our Lady, from its origins to our own time. Almost a hundred adaptations and translations of the Beatrijs-story were found, and new discoveries are still being made. The case of Beatrijs brought about new theoretical discussions, cooperation and exchange in the field of Dutch Studies, as is demonstrated by this volume. By means of diverse approaches the authors show how a literary text from the relatively small geographical area of the Dutch language can circulate both inside and outside its linguistic borders in different periods. With their wide spectrum of research questions, methodological approaches and selections of material, the contributions are a reflection of the richness of international Dutch Studies in the 21st century. Inspired by translation, adaptation and reception studies, this volume helps us to answer the question which characteristics of a particular text make it a likely candidate for crossing linguistic, geophysical, historical, and other borders. This volume is a contribution to the historiography of the export and dissemination of Dutch literature.

    Description: In the period following the Second World War Giulio Preti was one of the leading exponents of Italian philosophy. A master of open critical thought, cultivated in the light of a rationalism that dialogued with, and integrated into his own philosophical model, many of the currents and stances of the global research scenario. Phenomenology, Marxism, pragmatism, neopositivism, transcendentalism and structuralism: in Preti all of these found an organic and original synthesis. Further, his particular brand of rationalist-critical thought touched on many aspects of philosophical knowledge: theoretical philosophy, the philosophy of science, that of language and that of art, from ethics to politics and even taking in the history of philosophy, offering authoritative contributions in every sphere. One hundred years after his birth, the University of Florence and the heir to the Faculty in which he lectured at length, the Faculty of Education, has decided to honour his memory with this anthology of studies, penned by former pupils and others and also by younger scholars, to once again focus the wealth of this thought and its, in many respects, current relevance. Even now, this particular brand of open, critical rationalism can offer a benchmark for addressing the new issues for philosophical reflection thrown up by modern society and culture.

    Description: The stimulating reflections in the field of the new cognitive sciences have added breath of life to studies on didactics towards an original reinterpretation of educational practices based on the valorization of the body as a founding pedagogical device of educational and training processes. The emergence of an embodied vision of cognition and the recognition of a dynamic dialogicality between the organism and the environment have prompted the construction of new research paths, creating the conditions for the recognition of the learning, communicative, simulative and vicarious potential of corporeity in teaching-learning processes. Teaching, as a science of human interaction, is enriched with verbal, iconic and bodily codes, manifesting teaching postures and corporeity that highlight its nature as a complex adaptive system.

    Description: The text highlights the lines of the research crossed by Paolo Federighi in his forty-year professional career within the University of Florence and the European institutions. We take the opportunity of this perusal to problematize the discipline, Adult Education, through a semantic and lexicographic analysis which aims to bring to light the history and theory of Adult Education from its beginnings in Italian society and culture in the period after the Second World War to date. The pedagogical-educational knowledge forming the building blocks of the discipline cannot be separated from scientific research and methodological results. The second part of the essay sets out to understand which research methodology can be more appropriate to respond to the needs of a constantly evolving and rapidly changing civil society. The third and fourth parts reflect on a human and scientific itinerary always pointed towards the lodestar of educational innovation and educational transformation.

    Description: This work identifies the most significant studies addressing frameworks of ‘competencies’ aimed to be used to sustain a sustainability transformation, for both educators and learners, irrespective of the learning environment (formal, non-formal, informal) and the education level (primary, secondary, tertiary and adult education). To achieve this aim a critical review has been carried out. There is a prevalence of studies focusing on learners, on the formal learning environment, and on higher education. Additionally, a synthesis of existing frameworks of competencies is provided, for both learners and educators, which represents a launch pad for a new phase of empirical validation and testing.

This study gives an overview of 227 chambers of rhetoric, the rhetorical culture in the Southern Netherlands and gives a fresh new look on the cultural history of the Netherlands.
    Description: In de vijftiende en zestiende eeuw ontwikkelde zich in Vlaanderen en Brabant een bijzondere instituut: de rederijkerskamer. Gewone stedelingen legden zich in gildenverband toe op toneel en lyriek, zowel in besloten kring als publiekelijk, naar aanleiding van allerlei feestelijkheden. In deze studie wordt, vertrekkend van een repertorium van 227 rederijkerskamers, de rederijkerscultuur in de Zuidelijke Nederlanden in kaart gebracht. Het uitvoerige bronnenmateriaal biedt nieuwe, vaak verrassende inzichten in het ontstaan van de rederijkerscultuur, de sociale achtergrond van de rederijkers, de verhouding van de rederijkerskamers tot stad en vorst, de betrokkenheid in de Reformatie en de Opstand en, tenslotte, de veranderende functie in de zeventiende eeuw. Dit leidt ook tot een verfrissende kijk op de cultuurgeschiedenis van de Nederlanden. De auteur komt tot de conclusie dat zich in de Zuidelijke Nederlanden een bijzonder dynamische stedelijke cultuur vormde waarbinnen de basis werd gelegd voor het 'mirakel' van de Gouden Eeuw.

    Description: De Nederlandse wetenschap doet het uitstekend. Op wereldwijde ranglijsten scoren onze onderzoekers, universiteiten en instituten opmerkelijk hoog. In dit essay onderzoeken José van Dijck en Wim van Saarloos, president en vicepresident van de Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen, hoe ons kleine land in de wetenschap groot kon worden.     Description: "How do you really become a skilled teacher? And what role should guidance play in the education of tomorrow's teachers? This theme is explored through a study of experienced practitioners' formalized counseling conversations with teacher students. The most important questions in the book are about how the practice teacher and teacher conduct conversations. Concretely, the question is: What is the content of the counseling interviews? How are the teacher students evaluated? How is the consequences of the counseling discussions understood? The guide being examined contains a step by step pedagogy. First, the teacher's student must learn to control, master and reflect on the social space both the classroom and the counseling conversation are. This is described as an overall moral and regulatory discourse. This discourse forms the basis for the teacher's next step - which is the actual teaching. The teacher's student must therefore master two discourses - one regulatory discourse and one teaching discourse - in order to become a skilled teacher. In addition, he or she must adapt to the regulatory discourse in the counseling conversation. The latter discourse represents in this book an initiation ritual for the teaching profession. This ritual gives the practice teacher control over the dedication, while limiting the room for maneuver in the counseling conversation. "

Denne tematikken utforskes gjennom en studie av erfarne praksislæreres formaliserte veiledningssamtaler med lærerstudenter. De viktigste spørsmålene i boka handler om hvordan praksislærer og lærerstudenter gjennomfører veiledningssamtalene. Helt konkret spørres det: Hva er innholdet i veiledningssamtalene? Dette beskrives som en overordnet moralsk og regulerende diskurs. Denne diskursen danner grunnlaget for lærerstudentens neste trinn – som er selve undervisningen. I tillegg må han eller hun tilpasse seg den regulerende diskursen i veiledningssamtalen. Den sistnevnte diskursen representerer i denne boka et innvielsesritual til læreryrket. Dette ritualet gir praksislæreren kontroll over innvielsen, samtidig som det begrenser handlingsrommet i veiledningssamtalen."

    Description: The chapter presents a case study based on the design, development, and testing of an interactive 360° video applied to the teaching of Sensory Analysis of Food at the University of Florence. The case study describes the design of 360° video storyboards and the creation of the video by the use of 360° cameras for reproducing a sensory laboratory environment. Video enrichment with Vivista, an educational software allowing lecturers to embed interaction points (e.g. quizzes, texts, images) within the 360° videos is also described. Different immersive modalities for the use of the videos with students in different contexts are described and discussed. The chapter concludes with a reflection on the opportunities that 360° videos may provide to university students for practice and experience.

    Description: With this rich anthology of sources, most of which are made available here for the first time, Michele Mancino and Giovanni Romeo add another element to the research project that began with their recent book (Clero criminale. L’onore della Chiesa e i delitti degli ecclesiastici nell’Italia della Controriforma, Laterza, Roma-Bari, 2013, 4th ed.). The two parts document from a range of perspectives the way in which the Tridentine project of combating the common crimes of the clergy was undone before the end of the sixteenth century. Instead, the Roman curia was mainly concerned with enforcing the right of delinquent priests to be judged only by ecclesiastical tribunals, a strategy intended to defend the honor of the clergy that was followed persistently over the long term. The material presented here describes a previously unknown historical precedent for the recent revelations about the treatment of pedophile priests.

    Description: The essay highlights the vast inherent power of education and research on education in and for adulthood - making use of the presentation and discussion of a Case Study -. This Case Study deals with the educational needs that is for the quality of the services of an elderly home in a City in northern Italy. The Case Study was conducted consistently with the theoretical-methodological framework of Grounded Theory and Participatory Research-Action. It allows us to capture "in nuce" some of the processes of generative and human change that can be shaped by clarifying the need/willingness to make improvements at the level of In-Service Training, School Training, and the elderly home organization. In sum, it emerges an awareness of the transformative value intrinsic in the "caring" professions. Lastly, the limitations of the research - conducted in COVID-19 time - and also the multiplicity of factors that triggered this beginning of change are considered, as well as the difficult implications of this work, given the dramatic challenges of the current socio-historical and geopolitical context.

    Description: The book illustrates the reconstruction of the system of granting Neapolitan citizenship during the sixteenth century. In particular, the role played by the ‘Regia Camera della Sommaria’, the highest tax magistrature of the Kingdom of Naples, in the evaluation of requests and in the assignment of the citizenship licenses, which allowed access to the substantial tax and jurisdictional privileges of the capital city. The policy of the Spanish government with respect to these privileges is based on prudence and attention to the political and social balance of a fundamental and complex capital as Naples is. The ‘Sommaria’, however, manages in establishing a system of control and government of privileges, which makes the Neapolitan citizenship for a large part a product of the state; also subtracting expertise in the field to the city's municipal government.

    Description: Dopo anni di dibattito sulla presenza degli studenti di cittadinanza non italiana nel sistema scolastico, i tempi sono maturi per aprire le prospettive di studio e di intervento della pedagogia interculturale anche al mondo accademico. Avanguardia dello stesso multiculturalismo, con una presenza straniera che da sempre l’ha strutturalmente segnata, seppur esigua al confronto con altri Paesi, l’università si trova oggi a rispondere a nuove sfide, che partono da una ridefinizione, quantitativa e qualitativa, della popolazione studentesca di cittadinanza non italiana: accanto alla figura più classica dello studente internazionale, che sceglie l’Italia come meta dei suoi studi e che vi arriva ponendo questo come suo obiettivo prioritario, si afferma oggi la presenza di quegli studenti, figli delle migrazioni, che si affacciano al mondo accademico dopo un’esperienza di scolarizzazione e di inserimento sociale non sempre semplice e lineare. Il volume, oltre a inquadrare gli scenari generali riferiti alla società e alla città multiculturale, all’internazionalizzazione degli studi, documenta un lavoro di ricerca pedagogica, con aperture anche alle scienze sociali e geografiche, svolto nell’Università dell’Aquila. L’indagine sul campo ha mirato a ricostruire i background, i percorsi accademici, i bisogni formativi, i problemi dell’inserimento sociale degli studenti internazionali e degli studenti stranieri scolarizzati in Italia, prestando particolare attenzione anche ai temi della socialità, della reciprocità, del pregiudizio e dell’inclusione anche in riferimento agli studenti italiani. La ricerca, ma anche l’azione: L’Aquila, una città universitaria ancora segnata dal sisma del 2009 e dall’alterazione dei rapporti sociali. Nel volume si riportano la descrizione e i principali risultati del progetto “Unidiversità” (FEI, annualità 2013, Azione 7, PROG-1059381), all’interno del quale si è puntato alla formazione di una nuova figura professionale, il tutore della convivenza, e alla sua implementazione in ambito accademico e urbano.     Description: Denne boken handler om leseferdighetene til elever i 10-årsalderen. I Norge er elevene da på 4. og 5. klassetrinn, og det forventes at de i stadig større grad skal bruke lesing for å lære fag. Hvordan står det til med barnas leseferdigheter? Gjennom leseundersøkelsen PIRLS (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study) blir vi kjent med 10-åringenes lesing. Siden PIRLS har blitt gjennomført hvert femte år siden 2001, kan vi også studere utviklingen i leseferdigheter over tid. I denne boken presenteres resultatene fra PIRLS 2016. Oppmerksomheten er særlig rettet mot norske forhold. Fordi PIRLS gjennomføres i over 50 land, kan vi også gi et detaljert bilde av hvordan norske elever klarer seg sammenlignet med elever internasjonalt.     Description: The history of the Cuban school is doubly intertwined with the history of the country’s social and economic evolution since the early days of the 1956 Revolution. Arguably, the escuela media superior has been the most subjected to experiments, reforms, successes, mistakes and difficulties, but it has been recognized as having a distinct degree of quality by international bodies, such as UNESCO. This ‘level’ of the Cuban educational system has assumed a fundamental role over the decades, after having resolved the shortcomings of the previous school system and having been adapted on several occasions to the changes in the socio-economic policies of the communist government. In fact, it trained qualified technicians essential to the economic development of Cuba and created a mass consciousness, whose unifying element resided in the collective commitment and not in that of the individual.

Mange av forfatterne er opptatt av samspillet mellom episteme, techne og fronesis i forhold til den enkeltes vekst og profesjonelle kompetanseutvikling.     Description: This chapter focuses on the perception of the students about the video 360° and their didactic value in the academic teaching. The results of an online survey, administered to more than 200 students in three European countries who followed an academic course where a video 360° was used, are then presented and discussed highlighting how, despite the relative novelty of this tool for academic teaching, the results seem quite promising for their further adoption in the Higher Education.

    Description: This study is aimed to report the qualitative data collected as part of a larger evaluation research project on educational contexts for disabilities. The sample consists of 161 pre-service teachers completing their education at the University of Florence, who were asked to indicate strengths and weaknesses in the implementation of their own inclusive teaching practices (TEIP). This study focuses on a few specific areas according to the existing literature that sees teaching practices, collaboration between school staff and families, and behavior management as related elements for defining inclusive environments and attitudes. The integration of quantitative and qualitative data collected and analyzed separately explains all the elements that may contribute to self-efficacy toward school inclusion, such as the subject-specific support teacher preparation and the quality of collaboration within the working group for inclusion whose impact relates to the level of engagements achieved by students that can increase chances of success of the educational project.

    Description: Livio Odescalchi (1652–1713), nephew of Innocent XI, paid the price in his youth for the pope’s anti-nepotism policy, who chose to deny him any official position. During the same period, Livio had to submit to the oppressive control of his uncle, his testamentary guardian – an unhappy situation that, at the time, caused him to be considered a symbol of misfortune. In spite of this, the young man was able to lay the foundations for a strategy of economic and social ascent that would later bear fruit. After the death of Innocent XI, a period of compensation began, built on the accumulation of honours and possessions, financial investments, commissions and art trades, patronage, social celebrations, and international networks. This book, based on Roberto Fiorentini’s doctoral thesis (Aprilia 1987 – Washington 2019), examines both phases of Livio Odescalchi’s life, analysing them in the light of a considerable quantity of archival documents, some of which are completely unpublished.

Nonostante ciò, il giovane seppe gettare le basi per una strategia di ascesa economico-sociale che avrebbe dato i suoi frutti in seguito. Morto Innocenzo XI, ebbe inizio infatti un periodo di riscatto, costruito sull’accumulo di onorificenze e possedimenti, investimenti finanziari, committenze e commerci d’arte, mecenatismo, feste mondane e reti internazionali. Il volume, frutto della tesi di dottorato di Roberto Fiorentini (Aprilia 1987–Washington 2019), prende in esame ambedue le fasi della vita di Livio Odescalchi, analizzandole alla luce di una notevole quantità di documenti d’archivio, una parte dei quali completamente inediti.

Trotzdem gelang es ihm, in jungen Jahren den Grundstein für eine Strategie des wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Aufstiegs zu legen, die später Früchte tragen sollte. Nach dem Tod Innozenz’ XI. begann eine Zeit der Kompensation durch die Anhäufung von Ehrungen und Besitztümern, finanzielle Investitionen, Aufträge und Kunsthandel, Mäzenatentum, Feste und internationale Netzwerke. Das Buch, das aus der Doktorarbeit von Roberto Fiorentini (Aprilia 1987 – Washington 2019) hervorgegangen ist, untersucht beide Lebensphasen Livio Odescalchis und analysiert sie anhand einer großen Anzahl von zum Teil noch unveröffentlichten Archivdokumenten.

    Description: The subject-text and author-reader relationship are investigated with particular attention to the current proliferation of narrative languages and methodologies, including digital ones. It reflects on the pedagogical and social value of an education that educates young people's active and conscious participation in the dynamics of contemporary society. The chapter adopts as a case study the modes of communication, including narrative, developed during the last two years deeply marked by the Covid19 pandemic. The function of processing insecurity, individual and collective, and reshaping behaviors of the different narrative forms are highlighted.

    Description: The poster describes the first phase of a research on the impact of Service-Learning on in-service and future teachers and educators, as mentioned in the research questions. This study started with a literacy review about Service-Learning, in both national and international framework. The Italian way of Service-Learning has been further investigated, using the work of Don Milani as a cultural reference. The research continued with an analysis of the normative and national literature about this approach. It is followed by a systematic review concerning the research questions, making use of Prisma statement. Four different databases were used for the investigation. As result of using a list of inclusion/exclusion criteria, 60 studies were eligible for full text analysis. The results underlined a lack of studies focusing on the Italian context, and a strong unbalance between studies concerning in-service teachers and pre-teachers. Results will orient the empiric part of the research for future steps.

    Description: In Italy, women have been able to graduate only since 1875; in Florence, at the end of the century, just fifteen women obtained the graduation at the Institute of Higher Studies. The Libraries of the University of Florence, heirs to the Institute, have intended to celebrate those first female graduates (1875-1940) and their stories, by cataloguing, digitalizing and publishing online their thesis. The oldest or most significant ones, with archival materials, photos and publications, have been exhibited at the Humanities Library. This volume illustrates the exposition and the outcome of this original documentation, thus allowing to define the peculiarities of the Florentine reality, offering the opportunity for further studies and giving visibility to women who have played a substantial role in the Italian culture, so as to not lose their memory.

    Description: This work provides an in-depth description of the juridical framework in which the Italian book trade operated during the Renaissance. It is a multi-authored work that discusses issues related to intellectual, literary and artistic proto-property by taking into account some of the main urban centers of pre-unitary Italy such as Venice, Milan and Rome.     Description: According to the Maastricht Treaty, the responsibility for the organisation and content of education and training systems lies with the Member States. However, the Community contributes to the development of quality education and the European dimension of teaching by encouraging cooperation between Member States. Europeanisation of national education systems in the European Union is both the effect of a top-down political process, with different levels of governance, and the result of a bottom-up movement. The main agents are the teachers themselves: European mobility, both physical and virtual, improves their professional practice and helps to develop their sense of belonging to a European teaching and learning community. Despite the central role played by teachers in the integration of national education systems into the European Education Area, the profile and the key competencies of the ‘European teacher’ have not been defined in European Union policy documents.

    Description: The chapter illustrates the results of the educational use of 360° video in the field of Geomatics. Geomatics is the discipline that deals with the collection, analysis, and interpretation of spatial data with the contribution of information technologies. The GeCo Lab has been experimenting in the last few years innovative educational approaches supported by multimedia and interactive tools. The goal within the SEPA360 project has been to use the potentialities of 360° videos to simulate surveying activities, by using topography and laser scanning systems, for the documentation of built heritage, to provide teaching supporting materials for different Geomatic courses active at the University of Florence. The final outputs consist of two videos: one non-interactive with an “educational” approach, to introduce some theoretical concepts, and the other one with an “self-evaluation” purpose, with interactions, added in Vivista.

    Description: "Riksäpplet deals with a shipwreck that has a neglected position in the grand narrative of the history of the Swedish navy. The story of its destiny and the missing accounts in scholarly and popular works in history says something about heritage processes within Swedish maritime archaeology. On 5 June 1676 Riksäpplet came loose and adrift from its moorings outside Dalarö Sea fortress. The hull struck a rock and sank. The loss was considered both ignominious and embarrassing and the ship’s fate has been overlooked in all major history books. The rock onto which Riksäpplet sank was named ‘Äpplet’ after the incident, and the wreck itself has become an integrated component of the underwater seascape. As a consequence the wreckage has never enjoyed a proper ‘discovery’ or undergone documentation under the sensational forms that many other famous shipwrecks have, even though they have sunk in more inconvenient places. In Eriksson’s study the official handling of Riksäpplet’s wrecked body is compared to the more wellknown ships Kronan and Svärdet, which both sank during battle only days before. Eriksson draws on different motifs and driving forces behind the study of naval wrecks from the period from his comparison, and the differences are discussed. Riksäpplet has never achieved a prominent position with the romanticising works of history that honour the national heroes and their deeds which are associated with this era of the Swedish Empire. The first half of the book thus sets out to unpack the ideas that have led to the relative disinterest in Riksäpplet in comparison to other shipwrecks. The second half of the book sets out to analyse Riksäpplet from a specific archaeological perspective, with focus on the ship as material culture. Eriksson’s departure is to explore the relatively low budget fieldwork that has been done at the wreck site. He the combines those facts with a survey of the artefacts recovered from the wreck, of which all are kept in museum archives and private collections. This, in addition to his studies of preserved written correspondence concerning the construction of the ship, has brought new insights into seventeenth-century shipbuilding and how the balance between the global political superpowers affected this trade. In this context Riksäpplet has great potential to show how military alliances are materialized through ships’ architecture.

Men boken handlar också om ett skeppsvrak som hamnat en hårsmån utanför den stora vedertagna sjökrigshistoriska berättelsen: regalskeppet Riksäpplet. Den 5 juni 1676 slet sig Riksäpplet från förtöjningarna vid Dalarö skans. Skrovet högg i en klippa och sjönk. Förlisningen kom att betraktas som både snöplig och pinsam och har i efterhand kommit att förtigas i historieböckerna. Klippan bär idag namnet Äpplet och vraket har kommit att bli en integrerad och självklar del av landskapet. Som en konsekvens av detta har vraket inte kunnat påträffas och dokumenteras under de sensationella former som gällt för andra välkända skeppsvrak trots att de förlist på mer otillgängliga platser. I boken jämförs hanteringen av Riksäpplets vrak med de mer välkända regalskeppen Kronan och Svärdet, vilka gick under i strid fem dagar före Riksäpplets förlisning. Utifrån jämförelsen diskuterar Eriksson motiv och drivkrafter som legat till grund för studiet av vrak efter svenska örlogsfartyg från stormaktstiden. Riksäpplet har inte kunnat erövra någon framträdande roll i den romantiserande historieskrivning som lyfter fram nationens hjältar och deras stordåd. Boken första hälft syftar till att synliggöra de mekanismer och drivkrafter som ligger bakom att Riksäpplet prioriterats bort till förmån för undersökningar av andra vrak. Bokens andra hälft ägnas åt att fokusera på ett nytt, mer renodlat arkeologiskt perspektiv på skeppet som materiell kultur. Erikssons utgångspunkt är ett till resurserna tämligen begränsat arkeologiskt fältarbete på vrakplatsen som ändå har genererat stora resultat. Han kombinerar detta med en genomgång av de föremål som genom åren har bärgats från vraket och som finns arkiverade i olika museimagasin och hos privata samlare. Tillsammans med bevarad skriftlig korrespondens kring skeppets byggande väcks nya insikter om 1600-talets skeppsbyggeri och hur detta kunde påverkas av den globala politiska maktbalansen över världshaven.     Description: The volume aims to promote the scientific value of the data collected by the international OECD and IEA surveys carried out in 2015. In particular, as regards the IEA TIMSS and TIMSS Advanced surveys, the contributions focus on the incidence of behaviours and learning contexts of students on the development of skills in mathematics.     Description: The paper aims at dealing with didactics of Resistance through the relationship between the historical wtnesses and younger generations. As the first has lived the historical events he is going to narrate, younger generations constitute ideally the depositary of a rich and fragile set of informations. Based from this perspective, the paper is going to speak about a students' cycle of meetings organised in some schools in the province of Pistoia, between 2016 and 2018: the vocational institute "Martini" and the technical institute "Marchi". Meetings were held by SIlvano Sarti, who fought as partisan in the "Brigata Sinigaglia" in 1944 and who was appointed ANPI provincial president in Florence.

    Description: The essay focuses on Trentin's theoretical elaboration and action in the European Parliament. Starting with his involvement in the "Spinelli Group," it analyzes the relationship between work and knowledge conceived as an in-depth study of the Lisbon program from the perspective of labor and its transformations. The socio-economic program, which was supposed to become an essential part of the program of the European Socialists for the 2004 elections, on which Trentin works, is analyzed in relation to his coeval writings (La libertà viene prima (2004) and the Keynote Lecture given at Ca'Foscari in 2002). The essay highlights the link between knowledge economy, lifelong learning, elements of socialism and analyzes the tools envisaged for the strengthening of a transparent economic governance, at the European level, in dialogue with the social partners capable of leading to a federal socialism.

    Description: Copper is an ancient product that has persisted into the advanced industrial age. Its production methods and uses have been radically transformed several times, and it has played a central role in the building of the modern world economy. Despite this, it has been neglected by historians. For many years in early modern Europe Scandinavia was the biggest producer of copper, particularly through the large copper plants at Røros in Norway and in Falun in Sweden. This book tells the story. The amount of copper produced and traded is investigated, working conditions are discussed, the organisation of the companies is clarified, the active role of the state is emphasised, and the influence of the copper industry on local conditions is explored. The book gives copper an important place in European industrialisation more generally and shows that the Scandinavian copper industry was part of an extensive European copper network, which in turn was part of a global manufacturing and trading system. Through such connections, the Scandinavian copper industry was linked closely to the international and global history of copper, and therefore to colonialism, industrialisation, slavery and violence.

Produksjonsmetodene og bruksområdene har blitt radikalt forandret mange ganger, og metallet stod sentralt i fremveksten av den moderne verdensøkonomien. I tidlig moderne tid var Skandinavia lenge den største produsenten av kobber i Europa, spesielt gjennom kobberanleggene i Falun i Sverige og på Røros i Norge. Likevel har metallet ofte blitt oversett. Denne boken forteller historien. Mengde kobber som ble produsert og solgt undersøkes, arbeidsforhold diskuteres, organiseringen av selskapene avklares, statens aktive rolle vektlegges, og kobberindustriens innflytelse på lokale forhold utforskes. Det vises at den skandinaviske kobberindustrien var en del av et stort europeisk kobbernettverk, som igjen var en del av et globalt produksjons- og handelssystem. Slik knyttes skandinavisk kobber tett til metallets internasjonale og globale historie: til europeisk industriutvikling, kolonialisme, slaveri og vold.

    Description: Teachers’ assessment concepts and strategies play an important role, due to their effects on students’ learning outcomes and ability to learn independently. The literature gives ample space to ‘formative assessment’ as an approach that supports the teaching-learning process. However, within more recent docimological reflection, it is possible to identify approaches involving different degrees of student involvement in the assessment process, which have been less investigated, especially from an empirical point of view. This is the background for the present research, which attempts to focus on assessment concepts and strategies in relation to learners’ involvement. The study presents the first results of a survey currently involving more than 1,500 Italian primary and secondary school teachers, bringing out assessment concepts and implemented strategies.

    Description: Several associations in Italy are involved in pediatric disease and support for children and adolescents in conditions of medical complexity, with Tuscany boasting a territory particularly committed to social issues. This study aims to understand if currently in Tuscany there are associations engaged in promoting the sense of school belonging of the student with pathology. In order to achieve this objective, Tuscan associations have been mapped using five different mapping methods. Only one association was found through this mapping. The psychologist at the association was interviewed to understand the point of view of the association on this topic.
