    Description: After a long process, the reopening of Milanese canals has become one of the fundamental actions of the Town Plan approved in 2019. A strategic project that plans to reactivate the covered section of the Naviglio Martesana and the Cerchia Interna, reuniting Adda and Ticino rivers, and give new life to the great Renaissance project that Leonardo himself had worked on. In its methodological approach and in the specific outcome achieved, we can recognize elements of continuity with Leonardo’s thinking and contribute to a territorialist reflection on its current relevance.

    Chapter I prestiti verbali nei dialetti sloveni del Friuli: tra integrazione aspettuale e biaspettualità (2023)

    Description: The article analyses the morphological means used by the Slovenian dialects of Friuli in adapting loan verbs to their aspectual system in comparison to the traditional means of expressing verbal aspect in the indigenous Slavic lexicon. In relation to verbs of Slavic origin, the formation of aspectual pairs was mainly realised by means of prefixation to the base verb (thereby perfectivising it), whereas with loans from the adjacent Romance varieties (Friulian, Italian, Venetian) suffixation proves more productive (yielding imperfectivisation). The analysis is carried out on the dialect of Resia as well as those from the Torre and Natisone Valleys. Despite some differences, in all three dialects there is generally a strong tendency to integrate loan verbs into the aspectual systems of these varieties. Biaspectual verbs, on the other hand, are relatively rare except for the particular case of the verbs in -inat in Resian.

In order to cope with the history of Resistenza with we took into account the most recent historical literature. Everyone can judge the efficacy of the book after having read it; htis essay tried to describe the pace taken into consideration for publishing the book.

    Description: Among his hydraulic designs, Leonardo planned the construction of an artificial lake in an area east of the castle of Vinci, his native village. The project, a surprising demonstration of his perfect knowledge of places where he lived, is illustrated in three drawings found and studied by Renzo Cianchi. Today, it is particularly interesting to analyze the feasibility of Leonardo’s project, by chronologically translating it to the 21st century, namely in 2020. Based on an accurate hydrologic analysis, this paper aims at providing further insights on Leonardo’s study, focusing on the feasibility of the dam.

    Description: Leonardo’s manuscripts contain many quotes of ‘his’ Western Alps, well-known mountains sketched, with lakes, rivers and towns, creating outstanding territorial readings. In the 19th century, he became a turning point between medieval representation techniques and the great cartographic reform of the 16th century. Leonardo’s approach to territorial drawing, his evolutionary theories on the history of the Earth, his measuring and survey instruments, his calculation of mountains altitudes can be compared to subsequent maps confirming, , with ideal overlaps, the crystal clear anticipations of the ‘Grande di Vinci’.

    Description: In modern societies two processes seem to be carried on simultaneously. On one side, the traditional shape assumed by historical knowledge seems dissolving.     Description: The volume aims to fit into the existing studies in Italy and Portugal on the Portuguese 18th century, however describing the 18th century from a new, inclusive (and no more separatist), point of view between Portugal, Macao (in the south of China) and Brazil. The related insight does not have the claim to completeness, but offers an overview, allowing the lector to range over three Lusitanian territories.     Description: Die vorliegenden Essays behandeln im Stil der integrierten Bild-Text-Interpretation ausgewählte typische Bildquellen der entwickelten Massenkonsumgesellschaft von Kalenderblättern über Werbung bis Quartettkarten in dem Bemühen, sie durch Fragen nach ihrer Bedeutung für die Identitätskonstruktion ihrer Zielgruppen in den Kontext der Zeit einzuordnen. Es geht darum, den Gesichtspunkt der Massenhaftigkeit in die Deutung einer Quelle einzubeziehen, ihr ,soziales Leben' u.a. durch ein Aufzeigen der Bildroutinen und Genrehaftigkeit der Texte sowie der Strategien von Werbung als Bestandteil der identitätsstiftenden Bedeutung von Technik für uns sichtbar zu machen. Der ausgewählte Zeitraum mit einem Schwerpunkt in den 1920er bis 1960er Jahren spiegelt die technik- wie gesellschaftsgeschichtlich anerkannte Tatsache, dass diese Jahrzehnte eine Achsenzeit insbesondere der Mobilitätstechnik, aber auch auch der ,Demokratisierung' von Technik für alle in der Konsumgesellschaft darstellen. Daher kommt den beiden Mobilitätstechniken Eisenbahn und Auto besondere Bedeutung zu, mit einem deutlichen Schwerpunkt beim Auto als der Identitätsmaschine schlechthin. Der Begriff des Rituals soll auf die Regelmäßigkeit und Dauerhaftigkeit des Auftretens bestimmter Bilder und Aussagen in den befragten Quellen hinweisen, um auf diese Weise zum Verständnis des technikabhängigen sozialen Wandels und der mental formatierenden Wirkung von Bildroutinen beizutragen. Zugleich geht es um die Erschließung von Quellenmaterial, das in der Kulturgeschichte der Technik bislang selten oder jedenfalls nicht mit Blick auf die soziale Konstruktion von Identitäten untersucht worden ist.

    Chapter Aspektualität im Resianischen und die Rolle des Sprachkontakts (2023)

    Description: This study deals with aspectuality in Resian, a Slovene-based variety of north-eastern Italy, and the probable role of Romance influence on developments in this domain. In part, these findings are compared with the situation found with other non-Romance linguistic varieties spoken in Italy, especially Molise Slavic. The functional-semantic field of aspectuality is considered both in relation to its grammatical centre, viz. verbal aspect, and its lexical periphery. Language contact plays an important role in the almost complete transition of the Resian dual aspect system to a purely derivational opposition “imperfective : perfective”, also absorbing most of its prior morphosyntactic opposition “imperfect : aorist : perfect”. Furthermore, the special aspectual selection properties of phasal verbs and the role of aspect in the functions of modal verbs merit particular mention in this respect. In the case of lexical and periphrastic means of expression, a number of calqued progressive and prospective (imminent) periphrases, mostly calqued from Romance models, are discussed.

    Description: The paper highlitghts the role played by comics in stimulating formative and cultural literacy processes held in contemporary world. After having devoted time to the Italian situation, it highlights the potential and the limits comics met on an educational basis, as it is necessary to use them critically and on a reasonable basis. After the First World War, comics were spread extensively for war propaganda aims. Afterwards, the Great War has consolidated its presence in essays and volumes, as several comics about it were published, almost of all for its anniversary.

    Description: This study, through the use of hundreds of archival documents over a period of about two centuries, highlights the total reversal in the silk trade that occurred from the beginning of the 15th century: silk cloth no longer crossed the Mediterranean from East to West, as in previous centuries, but from West to East. Jewish, Turkish and Syrians merchants, and above all the Sublime Porte showed continued appreciation for Florentine silks. Through the analysis of the sources, every phase of such export is described in detail: the purchase of the cloths in Florence, their shipment, transport and finally the sale through Florentine correspondents in Constantinople. This flow of silks continued until the first decades of the 16th century, only to decline rapidly around the middle of the century.

    Description: This book is centred on the proposal of a new organic criminal discipline for sexual offences in Italy. The Foreword introduces innovative concepts and 'general' breakdowns relating to sexual criminal law. Chapter 1 then addresses a critical analysis of the current discipline, pursuant to articles 609-bis and following of the Criminal Code and the related case law. Chapter 2 tables an in-depth comparative analysis of the legislation governing sexual offences in Germany, Portugal, France and England, which is also extended to legal theory and practice. Chapter 3 then presents, complete with detailed commentary, an organic project of reform for Italian legislation, characterised by a total discontinuity with the current discipline, where the principal incriminations hinge upon the mere 'sexual dissent' of the victim, breaking down different types of sexually relevant behaviour that are at present all lumped in together in the melting-pot of "sexual assault" into three different offences, while also introducing other incisive innovations.

    Description: To tell the «chapters» of life of Giorgio La Pira (Pozzallo 1904-Florence 1977), we chose to follow a chronological order. Based on meticulous research and proposing extensive unpublished documentation, we describe the many commitments that – year after year – the Professor has found himself assuming and the various fields of his action, starting from his early years in Sicily. A very young university professor of Roman Law, intellectually engaged in the fight against fascism, constituent, parliamentarian, mayor, president of the World Federation of United Cities, La Pira has characterised his testimony in all these areas with fidelity to his deep faith and with concrete attention to the least, to the poor, to the defence of work, the right to housing, of social justice; and of the basic right to freedom and peace. For each year a summary of all the Professor’s activities is reported. The work is accompanied by over a thousand biographical cards and an extensive bibliography. A solid base to start new research from, and also a useful tool for reflection and study of the life and thoughts of Giorgio La Pira.

    Description: This volume is the 16th of the PSI series (started by Girolamo Vitelli in 1912) and contains the edition of 79 texts written in Greek on papyri or other materials (wood, parchment), coming from Egypt and kept at the Papyrological Institute «G. Vitelli». There are both fragments of famous Ancient Greek authors (Homer, Hesiod, Herodotus, Thucydides, Xenophon, Isocrates, Demosthenes, Plutarch; the Septuagint, Cyril of Alexandria, the Physiologist), as well as fragments of unknown works: among others, a grammar text on the Ionian dialect and a doxographic fragment on Aristotelian philosophy. Then, there are texts of documentary nature: petitions, tax receipts, registers, reports, private letters, testimony of the daily life in Egypt during Roman and Byzantine times.

    Description: This article shows that particle verbs in Burgenland Croatian – a notable morphosyntactic phenomenon of language contact – may form aspectual pairs in a typically Slavic manner. Particle-based pairs with an indigenous base verb are formed by means of suffixation, suffix opposition, suppletion or prefixation. In the case of spatial relations, by contrast, preverbs predominate over prefixes, leading to a reduction of the old inventory of verbal compounds. Nevertheless, preverbs are only rarely obligatory in the formation of aspectual pairs. In the case of borrowings, only prefixation is productive, which might be attributed to German (and Hungarian) influence. On a par with other aspectual pairs, particle-based formations may express taxis relations (sequence, simultaneity, incidence). Language contact possibly contributed to the preservation of the Contextually Conditioned Imperfective Past also in imperfective particle verbs.

    Description: The Naviglio di Ivrea (Turin) sketched in sheet 563r of the Atlantic Code, drew Leonardo’s attention when he was working as hydraulic engineer in the nearby Milan. A research on the rich documentation available in local archives led to identify techniques and materials used to build the Naviglio, often similar to those in Leonardo’s hydraulic studies and drawings, and to show both its interaction with the surrounding territories and the continuous updates in hydraulic engineering from the XV to the XIX centuries. The persisting relevance of the canal through centuries is a testament to Leonardo’s ancient intuition.

The aim of the book is to stimulate reflection on the role of education in the establishment of gender identities and in fostering the human rights of women in contemporary society.     Description: The article provides a survey of aspect-tense (AT) grams in (North) Slavic and Baltic, with some account of Finnic. More recently developed grams (bound morphology and constructions) are evaluated against a deeper diachronic and larger areal backdrop in order to assess the significance of contact as a factor contributing to convergence of Slavic and Baltic varieties in the AT domain. In fact, the amount of actually converging features related to grammatical oppositions in this area is quite small; these are: (i) Prominent parallels in the strict subject- vs. object-oriented division of perfects in Slavic (mainly Belarusian) rural varieties, which must have been supported by an ancient and very stable Baltic model. (ii) Suffixation patterns of stem derivation in Aukštaitian Lithuanian resembling Slavic secondary imperfectivisation. The reasons for a generally low level of mutual influence between Baltic and Slavic are subjected to some methodological discussion.

    Description: Antinoupolis III, yet another volume having as its object an extremely important archaeological area in Graeco-Roman Egypt: the city founded on the left bank of the Nile in 130 AD by Hadrian in honour of Antinoos. Over 700 pages constitute the two volumes of this publication. The first volume proposes several studies on archaeological materials, such as African sealed ceramics, locally produced wine amphorae (LRA 7), stone mortars, sporadic fragments of ornamental stones, a cup with a glass-painted inside, fabrics of the so-called 'Coptic' type, as well as analysis of forensic anthropology on the bone remains of a certain Theodosia, whose funeral chapel had been discovered and illustrated in the excavations conducted on the site of the University of Florence in the mid-1930s. In the second volume, there are editions of new papyri, parchments and ostraka, with texts based on documents from everyday life or from the Classical and Christian literary culture. The involved languages are Ancient Greek, Coptic and Arabic. The inscriptions in these three languages, most of them funerary, bring forth significant novelties. The documentation is evidence of the life which, especially in the late ancient age, carried on in the remains of a large metropolis located in Egypt, one of the most important provinces of the Roman empire.

    Description: The Kalush are the last Kafirs (pagans) of Hindu Kush and speak an Indo-European language, which makes them a particularly precious resource for the Indo-European scholar. This thesis offers an in-depth study of their language and of some aspects of their culture. Starting from the data collected during a field study in the least well-known of the three Kalasha valleys, on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the author proposes a contrastive analysis of the everyday language and that used for poetry. This analysis, and the mass of ethnographic data considered, enable the author to identify the socio-cultural reasons behind certain linguistic choices that can be observed in the poetic discourse, thus bringing to light the essence of the relations between language and culture.

Over the years, about sixty young students and a couple of dozen teachers have given shape to a human and intellectual experience based on exchange and the acceptance of different points of view. Traced out in this book is a brief history of the first twenty years, rendering account of the activities fostered and the research carried out, and providing the scientific and bibliographic profiles of each member.

    Description: The essay aims at reconstructing the history of the University of Florence, from the fall of fascism on July 25th 1943 to the post-World War II period. At the center of this path lies Piero Calamandrei's Rettorato, which began in the summer of 1943 and immediately interrupted by events related to September 8th and the armistice with the Allied powers. As dean of the university, in the aftermath of the Liberation of Florence in August 1944, Calamandrei marked a significant turning point. It was a turning point that not only promptly revived teaching and research functions; but it was also able to provide for the reinstatement of teachers expelled as a result of the racial legislation and for opposition to fascism, along with the beginning of the removals of teachers most involved with the dictatorship. At the same time, in the context of a city deeply involved in the Liberation, the new constitutional order of the Republic began to be drawn; a constitutional project to which Florentine professors - such as Piero Calamandrei and Giorgio La Pira - would offer an outstanding contribution.

    Description: The paper describes a research on Leonardo da Vinci’s activity as a military architect in Piombino, Tuscany, in the early years of the 16th century. These studies use modern digital survey technologies in order to recognize if, in the remains of the town’s defensive system, there are still traces of the intervention carried out in Leonardo’s time, and integrate these data with the analysis of historical-documentary sources and the results of recent archaeological and stratigraphic analyses. The achieved results were finally compared with Leonardo da Vinci’s drawings, obtaining some interesting feedback.

The genetic analysis of this long process of writing, the documentation of which covers a period of around fourteen years, reveals not only how the Portrait was conceived and composed, but also Joyce's evolution as a writer from the very first evidence of his literary activity. This new perspective on Joyce's mode of composition opens the way to a range of potential interpretations of the individual texts, as well as methodological and theoretical insights regarding genetic criticism.

    Description: This book focuses on one of the prime movers in the unification of Lunigiana – a region which at the time was still broken up into a myriad of tiny feudal holdings, almost all in the hands of the various branches of the Malaspina family. The process of unification began in the fifteenth century, when various areas of the region were conquered by Milan and Florence, which also divided between them the hegemony of the remaining independent territories, while Genoa too displayed an interest in expansion in the region. As a result it became crucial for the local lords to manoeuvre between the various forces at play to maintain the independence of their own little states. Among the figures who displayed the greatest dexterity in this was Gabriele Malaspina, who became a leading player on the stage of local history. The book starts by illustrating the period in which Malaspina succeeded in obtaining his political independence, and then goes on to analyse the phase in which his policy came to be characterised by an absolute loyalty to Florence. Finally the book addresses the last part of the Marquis's life, marked by a progressive distancing from the Florentine alliance in favour of other entities, in which he nevertheless always succeeded in maintaining his independence.

Per i signori locali divenne quindi fondamentale riuscire a destreggiarsi fra le varie forze in gioco per mantenere l'indipendenza del proprio piccolo stato, e fra i personaggi che più risaltano per questa loro abilità e per il ruolo giocato nella storia locale spicca Gabriele Malaspina. Il libro inizia mostrando la situazione della Lunigiana al momento in cui il Malaspina ottenne la propria indipendenza politica, per poi analizzare il periodo in cui la politica marchionale si caratterizzò per la sua assoluta fedeltà all'amicizia fiorentina, e quindi la parte finale della vita del marchese, in cui si assiste a un progressivo allontanamento dall'alleanza fiorentina in favore di altri soggetti, ma in cui riuscì sempre a mantenere la sua indipendenza.

    Description: This book investigates the linguistic and formal aspects of more than a thousand requests for justice and protection preserved in Egyptian papyri of the Roman Principate, mainly written in Greek. For many centuries in Egypt, from the Ptolemaic period to the late Roman Empire, petitions addressed to the judicial authorities shared the same textual structure and made use of recurring lexical formulas. Such uniformity was the result of the adherence by scribes and legal advisers to repertoires that had wide circulation. This study evaluates the correspondence between the formulas of the petitions and legislation, normative conventions, and spoken and literary language, and how these factors interacted with each other over the centuries.

    Description: This paper deals with the Upper Sorbian aspect categories. While the traditional inflectional opposition imperfect vs. aorist is still widely used in the standard variety, it has almost disappeared from the colloquial variety used in the Catholic area of Upper Lusatia in Eastern Germany. By contrast, the derivational opposition of perfectivity formally persists in this area but has undergone some changes which are very specific to this variety. In particular, this aspect opposition, expressed by means of prefixes and suffixes has been radically restructured, such that its functional domain has shifted from grammatical aspect to grammatical telicity. It is argued that the starting point of this change is to be sought in an identification of the Sorbian aspect-sensitive grammatical prefixes with the German prefixes which mainly express telicity in processes of word formation. Special usages dealt with in this study are, on the one hand, the expression of habituality through (formally) imperfective verbs and, surprisingly, the expression of ongoing telic processes, but also of the analytical future, by means of their perfective correlates, on the other.

Neben der Darstellung der Einflusswirkungen sowie deren Einordnung und Auswertung auf der Grundlage des Stakeholder Salience Modell von Mitchell et al. gibt der Autor Handlungsempfehlungen, wie es zu einer Ausweitung des Carsharing in Deutschland kommen kann. Car sharing can contribute significantly to reducing the number of private cars. Nevertheless, it remains in the niche. This work looks for the reasons for this niche existence and does so with a focus on different stakeholder groups. In addition to the presentation of the effects of influence as well as their classification and evaluation on the basis of the Stakeholder Salience Model by Mitchell et al., the author gives recommendations for action on how an expansion of car sharing in Germany can be achieved.

    Description: The aim of this article is to discuss a change in the expression of perfective aspect in Griko. According to Rohlfs (1977), this variety of Italo-Greek only possesses a synthetic past perfective form, thus failing to mark a distinction between the past punctual and present perfect values of the perfective. And yet, some changes in the expression of this macrocategory were already taking place at the time of Rohlfs when an originally resultative periphrastic form was beginning to be used beyond its original limits. By taking into account a wider array of sources, including both early and contemporary written attestations, as well as data collected with native speakers, we show how the regrammaticalization of this analytic construction, from resultative to present perfect marker, was already under way in the late nineteenth century and is now completed for some speakers. The article concludes with a number of reflections about the role played by contact in these developments.

As the student Luisa Xu joined the training trip towards the statal Museum in Auschwitz, it has been carried on a project of opening and narration of Chinese people in Italian history. Young generations in the chinese community in Prato have used them as a tool for knowledge and communitarian transformation. From this point of view, processes linked to the Resistance movement have to read in the present as they are addressed to mutual knowledge and to peace.

    Description: The paper aims to outline some of the strategies of aristocratic patronage in sacred spaces in the Italian peninsula. The commissioning of elaborate marble funerary monuments, the choice of location for chaplaincies or entire churches, convents and monasteries, and the choice of the religious order to which to entrust them are indicated here as keys to understanding the internal distinctions within the Italian aristocracies. In particular, a new examination of aristocratic patronage between the 14th and 16th centuries is considered a means to address a general revision of the Italian cultural hierarchies and geographies of Vasari's legacy.

    Description: This paper has two main objectives, to present some essential aspectual properties of Molise Slavic in comparison with other varieties in situations of strong language contact, and to discuss the role of language contact in each of these. Besides the grammatical categories of verbal aspect in the narrow sense, we deal with several more or less grammaticalised periphrases that also express aspectual functions or whose usage, at least, is triggered under the influence of verbal aspect. As in some other Slavic languages, having preserved traces of the original dual aspect system, Molise Slavic still displays a morphosyntactic aspectual opposition expressed by means of the perfect vs. imperfect, in addition to the Slavic derivational opposition between perfective vs. imperfective. Both oppositions combine with each other. The role of Romance in the reorganisation of these categories is discussed. The most salient innovation from a formal perspective is the imminentive calqued from Italian, but combinations of full verbs with phasal and modal verbs also show Romance influence. The results of the influence of dominant varieties on Molise Slavic in the area of aspectuality are compared with the development and behaviour of corresponding phenomena in the other languages and language families presented in this volume, in particular Resian and Slavic minority languages in Austria and Germany, Italo-Albanian, Italo-Greek, Baltic, German-based varieties in Northern Italy and Macedonian-based varieties in Albania and North Macedonia.

    Description: The chapter offers a methodology to reconstruct the structure of the Arno course, between Empoli and the mouth, at the beginning of the 16th century. Various documentary deposits have been used: analysis of geological information, to define the palaeochannels structure; historical sources; post-Leonardian historical cartography and a stratified bibliography to create information for geo-referencing Leonardo’s documents. This is compared with Leonardo's drawings (Windsor and Madrid), ca. 1503-1504, offers an unprecedented picture of the territorial structure of the river.

    Description: During the 19th Century, more than 2000 children of sub-Saharan origin were redeemed from slavery by missionaries and educated in Europe with the aim of sending them back to Africa as «indigenous missionaries». Yet, so far this phenomenon has found no place in historiography and collective memory. Forgotten, perhaps, or removed. The so-called «moretti» were not mere anonymous satellites, orbiting around the European missionaries. Victims of the choices of others, but also protagonists according their own choices, they were real «agents of history». This book is a first attempt to remove them from the peripheries of our narratives and to return them a place and a name. The archives show it clearly: African-Europeans are far from being just recent actors of European history.

    Description: The lack of adequate historiographical insights has cast a negative light on the role of lordship in the late medieval economy; it has traditionally been seen as an obstacle to the free expression of market forces and thus to growth. While not endorsing this dated view, neo-institutionalist models have in fact reiterated this negative judgement. This article puts forward an interpretive proposal aimed at nuancing the image of lordship as an economically regressive force and reconsidering its role in late medieval growth processes.

    Description: Between the 14th and 15th century, the kinship and consortium systems existing within the Italian aristocratic world significantly affected the way the territorial lordship in the hands of the lay lords were structured and managed by their owners, the self-representation of lordly prerogatives, but also the political action focused on lordships, both within and outside state frameworks. This is a key but little investigated theme. If at the beginning of the period the practices connected with kinship seem to be characterised by a strong dissimilarity, we can observe process of (relative) convergence, even if significant differences remain, particularly (but not only) between the north and south of the Peninsula. A key element in understanding these differences is the different strength of central power and its structures.

    Description: Leonardo’s passage through Romagna in 1502 left significant traces in his graphic production, including the codex L and the celebrated map of Imola now at Windsor Castle. These records reveal his direct involvement in the political and military affairs of the region, as shown by the well-known concession letter issued to him by Cesare Borgia in 1502. The chapter presents a critical reexamination of the principal interventions to the fortifications of Cesena between 1502 and 1503, which were the focus of Leonardo’s observations during his stay when Cesare Borgia tried to transform it into the capital of his ephemeral duchy.

    Description: During Cesare Borgia’s expedition in Romagna, Leonardo da Vinci designed many public works for Cesena but it is still unclear if he worked in other cities of the region. In particular, a possible passage through Faenza should be investigated. Some scholars think that a drawing of Leonardo’s notebook L (Paris, Institut de France) could be a representation of Faenza cathedral, but this attribution is disputed. Moreover, in Faenza’s countryside there are some original castles with hexagonal, rhomboid or ogival plan. It is not clear if Leonardo knew these buildings, perhaps even before the Borgian military campaign.

    Description: The shift between the first and second half of the twentieth century marked a watershed. It represented the “sunset of modernity” and made tradition unattainable, thereby calling into question the very survival of poetry. This collection focuses on the work of Giuseppe Ungaretti as poet, translator, and critic, which took the lead from this fracture. As the essays gathered here show, this fracture took a specific shape in Ungaretti’s work, which was reviewed in distinct ways and had a lasting impact up to the present day, alongside twentieth-century history and poetry.     Description: In April 1479, the communities of the marquisate of Mantua pronounced for the first time a general oath of fealty to Federico Gonzaga, the third marquis, inaugurating a custom that was to be repeated with relative regularity in the following decades every time a Prince died. It was a practice which was fairly new for the Gonzago marquisate, at least in this capillary and general extension to the entire body of the State. The significance of an innovation of this kind deserves attention, as do the genesis and the partial forms that preceded this mature expression. This book comprises an edition of the entire related documentary corpus, complete with photographic reproductions of the individual documents, and preceded by a substantial introduction in which the event is described, placed in context and interpreted from various points of view.

Si tratta di una pratica relativamente nuova per il marchesato gonzaghesco, almeno in questa capillare e generale estensione all'intero corpo dello stato: il significato di una innovazione di questo genere merita attenzione, come anche la genesi e le forme parziali che hanno preceduto questa forma matura. In questo volume si dà l'edizione dell'intero corpus documentario relativo, integrata dalla riproduzione fotografica dei singoli documenti, e preceduta da una corposa introduzione che punta a inserire il case-study mantovano nel recente, articolato dibattito intorno alla costruzione e alla crescita di linguaggi politici diversificati nel tardo medioevo italiano.

    Description: This article deals with morphological non-active verbal voice, which characterises reflexive, middle and passive structures in Standard Albanian and Arbëresh dialects. The data, compared to those of Italian, show that the three different strategies for the realisation of Standard Albanian and Arbëresh non-active morphology interact with the categories of mood, tense and aspect. In particular, these morphological strategies determine a perfective/ imperfective split as well as a series of restrictions which convey different interpretations associated with a stative or eventive interpretation. Particular attention is paid to the possible influence of Italian structures on the Italo-Albanian varieties in the domain of non-active voice.

    Description: Leonardo’s maps are to be analysed not only in relation to all his works, but also in the context of the cartography between the second half of the 15th century and the early 16th century and the techniques of so-called vedutismo pittorico. The aim of the contribution is to highlight – through a series of case studies – the potential of Leonardo's maps as sources for the reconstruction of the historical landscape. The research, starting from some of the maps produced by Leonardo, focused on two of the strands that appeared to be most significant: how to georeference Leonardo’s maps in a GIS environment; topographical analysis aimed at recognising main population centres and road network.

    Description: The increase in migration movement worldwide, and the consequent growth of multi-ethnic classes in schools have impacted on the implementation of ethnic bullying, a subtype of bias-based bullying in which victims are targeted because of their ethnic background. Despite the serious consequences of this discriminatory behaviour on the actors involved, research on the role of ethnicity in bullying is still limited. Upon these considerations, the present work aims to shed light on the role of structural factors and psychological mechanisms, explaining ethnic bullying in schools among natives and students with immigrant backgrounds. Specifically, this study is composed of three distinct parts: 1) a systematic review of the association between school and classes’ ethnic diversity and bullying and victimization; 2) a cross-sectional study on the role of ethnic diversity (legal and perceived) on bullying victimization; 3) a longitudinal study on the differential impact of COVID-19 on victimization and emotional symptoms, focusing on natives and students with immigrant background. Finally, the main results of the three studies are discussed, the implications for future studies and interventions are suggested and, policy and education practices are recommended.
