Description: The aim of the methodology is to give an understanding of elder abuse, typologies, manifestations, risks of occurrence and procedures for detection and solution. The methodology helps those who regularly come into contact with older people to put knowledge about elder abuse into practice. This can be anyone who is not, or should not be, indifferent to seeing an older person treated inappropriately. The methodology is primarily intended for people working in support services, with recommendations for other relevant actors such as general practitioners and specialists, the police, the social services of local authorities, etc. However, it can also be used by interested members of the public and by non-profit organisations, which also have an essential role to play in dealing with this phenomenon. The procedures and recommendations presented here are based on the research activities of the RESTABUS project, which draw on the findings of other research teams from all over the world and from a wide range of scientific disciplines, as well as on many years of experience in working with older people.

İnsanın yeryüzündeki varlık süresince, yani Kuvaterner’de yaşanan iklim değişiklikleri, buzul ve buzularası çağlarının yaşanmasına yol açarak, yer küreyi ve üzerinde yaşayan canlıların hayatını şekillendirmiştir. Ülkemiz de Kuvaterner buzullaşmalarının etkisinde kalmış ve Anadolu’nun farklı bölgelerindeki yüksek alanlarda gelişen buzulların bazıları günümüze kadar ulaşmıştır. İklim değişikliği etkisiyle ortadan kalkan buzulların oluşturduğu yer şekilleri ise çoğu sahada korunmuştur. Anadolu’daki buzullaşmalar ve bunlara ait yer şekilleri araştırmacılar tarafından sıklıkla çalışılmış olmakla birlikte morfometrik analizler sınırlı sayıda araştırmada uygulanabilmiştir. Buzul morfometrisi konusunda yeni yöntem ve yaklaşımlar son buzul çağının etkilerini daha net anlaşılmamıza imkân tanımaktadır. Bu araştırma kitabı ile Batı Torosların doğu ucunda yer alan ve daha önce literatürde geçmeyen Kuvaterner buzullaşmalarının izlerinin yaygın bir şekilde gördüğümüz Kuşak Dağı’nın jeomorfolojik özelliklerini arazi çalışmaları ve İHA verileri kullanarak haritalamak, ayrıca morfometrik analizlerle Kuşak Dağı ve Batı Toroslar hakkında paleoiklimsel değerlendirmelerde bulunmak hedeflenmiştir. Yine bu kitapta buzul jeomorfolojisi konusunda yeni yöntem ve yaklaşımlar ayrıntılı açıklanmaya çalışılarak bu konularda çalışacak genç araştırmacılar için Türkçe kaynak kitabı olması amaçlanmıştır.

Description: The fire brigade was the first to dispatch emergency teams to the disaster area and provide assistance day and night, thanks to its omnipresence and versatility. This meant that local, voluntary firefighters were probably among the first rescue workers to fall victim. This contribution thrusts the fire brigade as a rescue service during the flood into the spotlight. This shows both the initial and the subsequent assistance provided by local fire brigades and additional units from outside the disaster area. Research has shown that the role played by the Dutch fire service – not to mention the Italian fire brigade –was massive and hugely significant, especially considering they worked under very dire circumstances and with limited resources.

Description: How the Steel Was Tempered in East Asia. Nikolai Ostrovsky’s novel How Steel Was Tempered (1932-34) tells the story of a young Ukrainian man named Pavel Korchagin who sacrifices his life and body to forge a steel-like spirit amid revolution, civil war, and postwar socialist construction. Although his physical injuries, which left him paralyzed and even blind, looks somehow grotesque, but his heroic self-sacrifice also had the power to inspire young readers. Regarded as an exemplary work of Soviet socialist realism, it was translated into many languages and read avidly at one time by left-wing readers in the West as well as in the Communist countries in the East. It was particularly influential in China, where it is so popular that even today it is invariably named as one of the favorite books of university students. This is in contrast to post-Soviet Russia today, in which the novel has lost the privileged position it once enjoyed and is no longer widely read. In China under the socialist regime, Ostrovsky’s novel was published in large numbers as suitable reading for young people and incorporated into school education. However, their active introduction in the public sphere alone does not explain their popularity. Chinese readers seem to have become deeply emotionally involved in the protagonist’s unsuccessful love affair with Tonya, a young girl whose bourgeois gestures and characterization must have been considered negative. As a result, the Soviet ideological novel has brought an unexpected meaning of European-style romantic love for Chinese readers. This presentation will trace the reception of Ostrovsky’s novel and the changes in the heroine Tonya’s image by comparing five adaptations: two Soviet films in 1942 and 1957, a Chinese lianhuanhua (serial picture book) in 1972, a Japanese manga in 1975, and a Chinese TV drama in 1999.

Description: This book is the most comprehensive Dutch-language reference work on Russian grammar. It is not primarily intended for beginners, but for users who have a decent basic knowledge of Russian. One can think of advanced students or course participants. The book is also written for users with a more than superficial interest in Russian. The topics are covered in depth and much attention is paid to making connections that help the user see the language as a coherent whole and not as a collection of separate facts. The book is basically laid out as one would expect from this genre (non-Russian-language grammars of Russian): first a chapter on writing and pronunciation, then the theory of form, broken down by word type, and the chapters covering meaning, usage and sentence structure. The Russian verb is notoriously complex, both in form and in meaning and usage. This grammar contains, after the form theory of the verb, separate chapters on meaning and usage of the various forms.

It was comfortable for patients and only one hospital soldier was needed to move the wounded. Starting with the Aceh Wars (1873-1910), it became a huge medical success in the military as well as the civilian world. It was gradually replaced around the 1920s. The litter – and some other inventions he made – hugely reduced the wounded soldiers’ suffering and because of this De Mooy was praised by many as a great humanitarian, but in fact it was military efficiency that drove him. A better, swifter and less strenuous way of transporting the wounded was a means of improving military capabilities.

На иллюстративных примерах показывается, как креативность проявляет себя на разных уровнях организации текста: фонетико-орфографическом, словообразовательном, лексико-семантическом, грамматическом – и как уровни взаимодействуют друг с другом. На уровне же целого текста важными параметрами становятся субъектная организация и взаимодействие текста с другими текстами.

Description: This article contains the personal account of Sergeant Reinder van de Put of the national police force, based on his correspondence after he was sent to the area affected by the 1953 North Sea flood. It first focuses on the unique letters and photographs that Reinder sent home from where he was deployed in Nieuw-Helvoet. These documents provide an insight into the national police’s work there and his personal experiences. The article describes what the national police faced one month on from the disaster and also provides an insight into the impact of the disaster on Reinder and his colleagues in Doornspijk, who were very close with each other – not only in how they stood together in solidarity but also how they supported each other.

Description: After the occupation by German troops in May 1940, the German authorities demanded the Dutch fire service be remodelled in line with their own example. In Germany, firefighting had been a police task since 1938. Fire service columns were formed to stop the spread of large-scale fires after air attacks. A great deal of organisation was needed to deploy the large number of pumps, men and large quantities of water. In the Netherlands two mobile columns were formed, which ultimately comprised about 1200 men in two large units, each consisting of four companies with a total of 223 vehicles. The firefighters were trained in the German way and became highly disciplined. The units were deployed after air raids on Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Haarlem in 1943, and Nijmegen and The Hague in 1944. From February 1944, however, the Dutch units were also sent to help in different German cities under attack. The Dutch fire service columns were stationed in eight depots in The Hague, Rotterdam, Baarn, Weesp, Deurne and Winterswijk. The last of the Dutch column was disbanded and sent to the German Fire Service School in Beeskow near Berlin in September 1944.

Description: Title in English: Motivation Support in Teaching German as a Foreign Language (and Beyond) With regard to the proven significant impact of motivation on learning processes and their success, promoting learner’s motivation can be described as an important part of pedagogical activity. The current book presents research investigations into learners’ motivation in learning German as a foreign language. A qualitative research design conducted as a multi-case study was chosen in order to gain a deeper insight into the issue of motivation. The results obtained showed the wide scope of teachers’ motivating influence on their learners. Many of the existing findings on motivation could be verified. Moreover, the specifics of motivation towards German as a second foreign language as well as the culturally conditioned specifics concerning Czech learners’ attitudes towards the German language have been highlighted.

Description: Between 1924 and 1979, 50 municipal police forces in the Netherlands were involved in transporting injured people by motor vehicle. As well as genuine ambulances, they also used auxiliary ambulances or multi-purpose vehicles, i.e. cars fitted with a stretcher. This task fell under their duty to maintain public order and deal with road accidents, which was entrusted to the police. During the German occupation of the Netherlands between May 1940 and May 1945, the police continued its task of transporting wounded people. After the Second World War, several police forces purchased multi-purpose vehicles, especially in smaller towns. Their busiest period came in the 1950s and 60s as a wave of traffic accidents swept across the Netherlands. In 1979, the role of the police in transporting wounded people came to an end because ambulance care had professionalized and the police wanted to focus on traditional tasks.

Description: Title in English: The future of metropolitan cooperation in the czech republic: development, governance, management Metropolitan regions are engines of economic growth, where research, innovation, technology and creative human potential are concentrated. The cooperation of municipalities in metropolitan regions in economically developed Europe dates back to the mid-1990s, while in the Czech Republic this new form of cooperation has been discussed more intensively since 2014, when three metropolitan areas and ten urban agglomerations were defined. However, there is still no systemic coordination of the problems and needs of metropolitan areas. The first activities aimed at real strengthening of metropolitan cooperation and development took place in the Brno Metropolitan Area within the framework of the TAČR ÉTA project “Institutionalization of metropolitan cooperation as a factor to increase the motivation of municipalities to cooperate in metropolitan areas”. The aim of the publication is to present the results of the project, experiences from abroad and their possible application in the Czech environment, as well as real steps to set up metropolitan inter-municipal cooperation.

Description: The word orphan, derived from the root “yütm” meaning “to be alone, to be left alone”, expresses the uniqueness of the object. Being an orphan can be understood as a child being unprotected in terms of meeting his/her basic needs and observing his/her rights. Although the duty of protection and support is traditionally attributed to the father, it would be more appropriate to understand the concept of an orphan as a child who has lost material and spiritual support that would protect him from dangers even if his parents are alive. The fact that the term orphan is used in daily language in our civilization to evoke this situation also confirms the meaning. Our Holy Qur’an emphasizes the importance of protecting the rights of certain social groups to strengthen justice and solidarity in society. In the process of building a just and peaceful world, the poor, stranded travelers, close relatives, neighbors, and the needy can be immediately listed among these groups whose rights should be respected first and foremost. Among these groups, orphans are another group that is particularly emphasized. Orphanhood is not only associated with not being wealthy. Since orphanhood is used for children who are not capable of protecting and defending their rights, it is also a concept directly related to children’s rights. Therefore, treating the phenomenon of orphanhood within child rights will significantly contribute to understanding rights and freedom. A system of thought based on the protection of all children in this situation and the institutionalization of social solidarity in light of this can initiate a process that will bring about a perspective and institutionalization that can be extended to all rights. For all these reasons, it is of great importance that the Symposium on Orphans and Abandoned Children, which deals with the phenomenon of orphanhood from a scientific point of view and brings together academics, experts, and practitioners from different disciplines related to the subject, was organized on the World Children’s Day and that the academic papers here have been published as a book.

De provincie werd een draaischijf voor Europese goederen, kapitaal, arbeid en kennis. Vooraanstaande Zuid-Hollandse regenten als Johan de Witt spanden zich in voor de slavenhandel. In de negentiende eeuw zorgde raciaal denken bij Zuid-Hollandse politici zoals Jan Willem Gefken of James Loudon voor het in stand houden van de koloniale hiërarchie en het uitbuiten van koloniale onderdanen.

Description: On 13 March 1908, the National Bureau for the Collection of Data on the Trade in Women and Girls was founded. The 47-year-old H.J.A. Simons de Ruyter was appointed National Police Commissioner. He proved to be the best person for the job owing to his passion for gathering and recording vital data, his knowledge of languages and his dedicated, helpful and generous personality. The Bureau and the police worked with women’s organisations to monitor activities and carry out checks at stations and ports where women and girls who could be exposed to a lewd lifestyle might be travelling. After legislation on morality was passed in 1911, the Bureau was given an additional task in 1914 to tackle trade in lewd publications. After the First World War erupted that year, there was not much more to do at the Bureau, which led Simons de Ruyter to support the immigration authorities in Amsterdam at his own request. This consisted mainly of finding accommodation, providing healthcare, food, clothing and financial assistance and helping to repatriate Belgian refugees.

Description: The aim of the research report is to present the results of the representative survey carried out in the RESTABUS project. This survey is the first of its kind and scope in the Czech Republic in its focus on mapping the prevalence of elder abuse, exploitation, neglect, other violence and undermining of dignity of older people (EAN). The survey was carried out among 2687 respondents aged 65 to 99 years living at home (outside residential care) and is representative of the older population in the Czech Republic. The topic of EAN is complemented by issues of the perceived prevalence of EAN in the public space, capturing attitudes towards restorative justice, and early trauma incidents (experience of violence in childhood and middle age). Thus, the research not only describes the level of prevalence of violence and ill-treatment of older people in the Czech Republic, but also maps the impact of experienced incidents on the quality of life of persons at risk, ascertains the attitudes of the older people towards the functionality of available forms of help and support, and suggests the direction of their possible further development. The report includes a methodological section, a results section and a tabular annex.

Description: This book presents a classic legal study of banning organisations in Dutch law. One of the main research questions is when, according to our law, an organisation is right for a ban. Must the organisation commit criminal offences, or are there other starting points for banning it? Another key question is what kind of organisations can be banned. Are, for example, political parties and denominations excluded, given the special function of these organisations in our society? Other important questions are how the procedure works, which body is authorised to ban and how legal protection against a ban is designed. In answering these questions, the author focuses on the fundamental question of the extent to which the regulation complies with the requirements arising from the freedom of association enshrined in our Constitution and treaties binding under international law. By no means all regulations meet these requirements. With a comparative law analysis of German and French law, the author makes recommendations to improve our prohibition regime on these issues

Description: The Cold War was a tense time. The Netherlands took precautions to protect its people from potential disasters, in particular nuclear threats. One crucial aspect of this was the establishment of the Civil Defence Corps. The organisation played a key role in setting up command stations and training centres, such as the one in Overvoorde, Rijswijk, near The Hague, which ran exercises and training to prepare people for possible disasters. From large practice ruins to advanced alarm systems, the complex was fully equipped to deal with a broad range of threats. Although the threat of a nuclear attack subsided and the Civil Defence was officially disbanded in 1985, these command stations retained their importance. Many of them have since been repurposed, from storage sites to museums. The bunkers in Overvoorde now serve as an educational centre under the management of Korpora, the Public Safety Heritage Centre. By preserving these sites, we can ensure that future generations can learn from the past and the sacrifices that were made for their safety.

Description: Vladivostok is likened to the Bosphorus. The remoteness of the Far East made it difficult for the European part of the Russian Empire to recognise Vladivostok geographically. Therefore, through analogy to the Mediterranean, it was consciously integrated into the state. On the other hand, by using kanji combinations, which evoke images of traditional Japanese poetry, the Japanese created a sense of familiarity with Vladivostok. In most cases, regarding the social situation during the Revolutionary and Intervention War periods, researchers’ interest was restricted to the scheme of the conflict between the Red Army and the White Army and the victory or defeat of the October Revolution. However, more than 30 years after the dissolution of the USSR, the events of this period are now being examined by scholars mainly from the perspective of the residents and outsiders in various regions who, without knowing the consequences of the revolution, were both anticipating and anxious about significant social changes. The multicultural nature of the Far East is being discussed on the occasion of the centenary of the Siberian exodus. This article examines the cultural situation in and around Vladivostok, focusing on developments such as the education system and modernist currents in the arts. Vladivostok served as both an entrance to Siberia for the Japanese or other foreign troops and an exit for emigres.

Description: Reception of Russian Literature of the Silver Age in China. In the late 20th century, there emerged a significant cultural fervor for the Russian literature of the Silver Age within Chinese academic circles, primarily focused on literary studies. This article examines the history of translating Russian literature of the Silver Age in China and its level of research development. It is revealed that, on one hand, the initial attempts at translating literary works of the Silver Age into Chinese began in the first half of the 20th century, with notable activity during the May Fourth Movement and towards the end of the 20th century. Consequently, works by well-known writers had more opportunities to be translated into Chinese and gain attention from the academic community, while many works by lesser-known authors remained overlooked. On the other hand, Chinese scholars’ research on Russian literature of the Silver Age encompasses various literary genres such as poetry, novels, and dramas, with a focus on individual writers and their works. Moreover, this epidemic has affected not only one country but also all countries of the world at the same time and with a similar intensity. Almost the health systems of the countries were tested with a test consisting of the same questions. During the pandemic, many unknown equations were intertwined. We had so many unknowns at the beginning of the epidemic. We did not yet clearly know how we approached patients, how to treat them, and what drugs should be given. Over the past two years, much research and many experiences have taught us how to behave against the disease. During the pandemic, we learned by experience how damaging information pollution can be. The epidemic also showed us the vaccine wars. We have seen how valuable the vaccines we use to get rid of the epidemic are, how developed countries have entered vaccine wars, and the change in the dynamics of the epidemic with vaccination. The years 2020-2022 will be defined as the epidemic years. During this epidemic, we saw that it was precious for physicians to get the correct information. Üstelik bu öyle bir salgın ki sadece bir ülkede değil, bütün dünya ülkelerinde aynı zamanda ve benzer yoğunlukta etkilendi. Adeta ülkelerin sağlık sistemleri aynı sorulardan oluşan bir sınavla sınandı. Salgın sırasında birçok bilinmeyen denklem iç içe idi. Salgın başında o kadar çok bilinmeyenimiz vardı ki. Hastalara nasıl yaklaştığımızı, nasıl tedavi vereceğimizi ve hangi ilaçların verilmesi gerektiğini henüz net bir şekilde bilmiyorduk. Geçen iki yıl zarfında birçok araştırma ve birçok deneyim bizim hastalığa karşı nasıl davranmamız gerektiğini öğretti. Salgın sırasında bilgi kirliliğinin ne kadar zarar verebilir olduğunu yaşayarak öğrendik. Salgın bize birde aşı savaşlarını gösterdi. Salgından kurtulmak için kullandığımız aşıların ne kadar değerli olduğunu, gelişmiş ülkelerin nasıl aşı savaşlarına girdiğini aşılama ile beraber salgın dinamiklerindeki değişimi gördük. 2020-2022 yılları salgın yılları olarak tanımlanacaktır. Bu salgın sırasında hekimlerin doğru bilgilerin ulaşmasının çok değerli olduğunu gördük. Elinizdeki bu kaynak salgını bizzat yaşayarak elde edilen tecrübelerini yazıya dökmesi sayesinde oluşturulmaya çalışılmıştır. Description: Kniha Mezi Markem Marci a Löwem z Erlsfeldu je prvním monografickým pojednáním o obsahu výuky na pražské lékařské fakultě v době barokní; titul odkazuje ke dvěma významným českým profesorům medicíny té doby. Výklad je chronologicky rámován obnovením lékařské fakulty po bitvě na Bílé hoře a počátkem vlády císařovny Marie Terezie (1740). Čtenář se nejprve dozví, co a z jakých učebnic se v pobělohorské době v Praze studovalo, včetně širšího kontextu dobové medicíny ve srovnání s fakultami v cizině. Dále se studie detailněji zaměřila na některé aspekty lékařských teorií v díle Jana Marka Marci z Kronlandu, např. na historii počátků středoevropského očkování proti neštovicím. Součástí pojednání je i podrobný rozbor prolínání lékařských teorií s dobovou filozofií. Nechybí ani popis postupného šíření objevu krevního oběhu ve středoevropské lékařské literatuře, na němž lze dobře pozorovat, jak se v baroku medicína postupně modernizovala. Práce rehabilituje baroko tradičně vykládané jako doba „temna“, neboť ukazuje, jak se lékařská učenost onoho období v Praze originálně rozvíjela a jak vzkvétala.

Description: Turkic World studies seem to be a topic that attracts scientific attention day by day. The continuous increase in cooperation, rapprochement, and mobility between Turkish-speaking countries and communities since 1991 might be shown as the main dynamic behind this interest. The richness of the Turkic Republics in terms of natural resources, their location on the energy and transportation corridors, the change of the balances in the Caucasus with the Second Karabakh War in 2020, and the transition of the Turkic Council from a cooperation organization to an interstate organization in 2021 under the name of the "Organization of Turkic States" also accelerate the work of the Turkic World. In the meantime, the popularization of some geopolitical determinations and predictions in the context of scientific interest in the region can be shown as an important factor. Similar to the rise of Europe in the industrial age, we can talk about the rise of Asia in the information age. The sources of political and economic power are shifting to Asian geopolitics and this process continues to strengthen. Such analyses and predictions, which bring to the agenda that in the 2050s, Asia will regain its former central position also encourage academic interest in Central Asia. This book is the product of the goal of creating an original work for the Turkish World with gap-filling parameters and process analyses determined by a meticulous preliminary study in the light of the mentioned background. In this direction, three basic perspectives such as the effort to determine the capacities of the countries with comparative analyses, to look at the Turkish World from the perspective of problems, and to embody the Turkish World based on the community, autonomous region, and country sections dominate the work. With comparative analyses, it has been tried to embody the capacities of the countries within the parameters such as sustainable development potential, transportation systems, scientific performance, evolution in the political system, education system, and values of education. On the other hand, the crises affecting the Turkic World were discussed with the analysis of Karabakh, which is the main crisis, and the Russia-Ukraine War, which is the current crisis. On the other hand, the analysis of the thirty-year process in the Turkish World, starting from the scales of the community, autonomous region, and country, was carried out through the examples of Georgia, Tatarstan, and Uzbekistan.

Description: Yaşlanma, hayatın kaçınılmaz ve ertelenemez bir parçasıdır. Yaşlanma ile birlikte hücrelerimizde ve organlarımızda fonksiyonel ve yapısal önemli değişiklikler olmaktadır. Dünyada 20.Yüzyılın başında başlayan hızlı nüfus artışı ile birlikte yaşam şartlarında düzelme ve tedavi seçeneklerinin artması yaşlı nüfus sayısının da artmasına neden olmuştur. 2030 yılında, dünya üzerinde her altı kişiden birinin 60 yaş üzerinde olacağı öngörülmüştür. 80 yaş üzerindeki bireylerin ise 426 milyon olması beklenmektedir. Bu artış nedeniyle tek başına “yaşlı” kavramı yeterli olmamış, genç yaşlılık (65-74 yaş), orta yaşlılık (75-84 yaş) ileri yaşlılık (〉85 yaş) kavramlarının kullanılması gerektiği öne sürülmüştür. Bir ülkenin yaşlı nüfusunun toplam nüfusa oranı %8-10 arasında olması ülkenin ‘’yaşlı’’, %10 üzerinde olması ‘’çok yaşlı’’ olduğu anlamına gelmektedir. Ülkemizde bu oranın 2050 yılından %20.8 olması beklenmektedir. 2030 yılında ise ortalama yaşam süresi 74-79 yıl olacaktır. Yaşlanmanın toplumlarda artışı bazı sağlık sorunlarının daha sık görülmesine neden olmaktadır. Buna paralel olarak 65 yaş üzerindeki bireylerin dahili hastalıkları, psikososyal yaşamları ve beraberinde koruyucu sağlık hizmetleri ile ilgilenen geriatri bilim dalı giderek artan bir öneme sahip olmaktadır. Yaşlanma, diğer organ sistemlerinde olduğu gibi böbreklerde de moleküler, fonksiyonel ve yapısal değişikliklere neden olmaktadır. Yaşlanmaya yanıt olarak böbreklerde hemodinamik ve fizyolojik önemli değişiklikler ortaya çıkar. İyileşme süresi uzar, hasarlanmaya dayanma yeteneği azalır. Ayrıca yaşla birlikte artan ve böbrek hastalıklarının en önemli nedenlerinden olan hipertansiyon ve diyabet gibi hastalıklarda akut ve kronik böbrek hastalığının yaşlılarda daha sık görülmesine neden olur. Yaşlılarda, böbrek hastalığının yanı sıra çoklu hastalıkların birlikte olması, polifarmasi ihtiyacı, ilaç metabolizmasının karaciğer fonksiyonlarındaki değişiklikler gibi çeşitli nedenlerle farklılaşması nefrologların ya da böbrek hastalıklarının tedavisi ile uğraşan hekimlerin günlük pratiklerinde göz önünde bulundurmaları gereken kavramlardır. Ne yazık ki geriatrik nefroloji kavramı, nefroloji ve İç hastalıkları eğitimi içinde yeterli öneme kavuşamamıştır. Ülkemizde ve dünya da geriatrik nefroloji alanında az sayıda bilimsel çalışma mevcuttur. Konuyla ilgili başvuru kitabı ise hemen hemen hiç yoktur. Bu alandaki boşluğu kısmen de olsa doldurmayı amaçlayan bu kitap nefroloji ve geriatri bilim dallarında çalışan bilim insanlarının katkıları ve özverileriyle oluşmuştur.

Description: With the onset of integration of web technologies into our lives, a global transformation process has been triggered and traditional approaches have tended to evolve into digital organisms as a past aspect of the millennium line. The one-way information transfer process, which was activated with the Web 1.0 era, took root on the basis of content sharing and 'collaboration' with Web 2.0, and was characterized in a 'smart' and 'individualized' form with the Web 3.0, and eventually ended up searching for an artificial intelligence-oriented direction. The developments in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing algorithms, on the other hand, were crowned with the Web 4.0 technology, and the artificial intelligence-based virtual reality atmospheres became the center of attention as the new phenomenon of digital. As far as the relevant perspective is concerned, it is possible to say that today's modernization standards are shaped within the framework of technology. While the parameters of the 'new generation world' are built on the digital plane, the 'new generation of people' generations develop specifically in the skills of this plane.

Makine öğrenmesi, derin öğrenme ve doğal dil işleme algoritmalarındaki gelişmeler ise Web 4.0 teknolojisiyle taçlanmış ve yapay zeka tabanlı sanal gerçeklik atmosferleri, dijitalin yeni fenomeni olarak ilgi odağı haline gelmiştir. Bu paradigmaların öğrenme ortamlarına yansımasıyla geleneksel sınıf atmosferleri algısında radikal değişikliklerin meydana geldiğini söylemek mümkündür. Dijital eğitim uygulamaları, yüz yüze eğitim metodunun bir alternatifi olmanın ötesinde pedagojinin başat unsuru olma yönünde hızla gelişim gösterirken öğretmen ve öğrenci arasındaki etkileşim süreci, çevrim içi merkezli öğretim tasarımları merceğinde desenlenme dönüşümü göstermektedir. Dil eğitimi sahası da ilgili entegrasyondan etkilenmekte ve yeni nesil dil becerileri, dijital yeterlikler ekseninde evrim geçirme haliyle karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Dolayısıyla yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretimi olgusu, yabancı dil olarak dijital Türkçe öğretimi çerçevesinde kavramsallaşmakta; bir başka deyişle teknoloji tabanlı beceriler odaklı örnek dil tanımlayıcılarıyla (illustrative descriptors) betimlenme eğilimi sergilemektedir. İlgili önem durumu, bu çalışmanın biçimlenmesine zemin hazırlamış ve Yabancı Dil Olarak Dijital Türkçe Öğretimi kitabı, teknolojik adaptasyonun getirdiği bir ihtiyacı karşılama güdüsüyle ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu bağlamdan hareketle çalışmanın ortaya çıkış amacının; sanal ortamlarda web araçlarıyla uygulanacak yabancı dil öğretimine ilişkin dijital bir farkındalık kazandırmak amaçlanmıştır. Yabancı Dil Olarak Dijital Türkçe Öğretimi; ‘Dijital Öğrenme ve Yabancı Dil Öğretimine İlişkin Teorik Çerçeve’, ‘Dijital Beceri Alanlarına İlişkin Web Tabanlı Uygulama Araçları, ‘Dijital Öğrenme Ortamı Yapılandırmaya İlişkin Web Tabanlı Uygulama Araçları’, ‘Dijital Öğretim Materyallerine İlişkin Web Tabanlı Uygulama Araçları’, ‘Dijital Ölçme ve Değerlendirme Etkinliklerine İlişkin Web Tabanlı Uygulama Araçları’ ve ‘Dijital Öğretim ‘Yaklaşımlarına İlişkin Yenilikçi Uygulamalar’ olmak üzere altı alt başlık temelinde yapılandırılmış 22 bölümden meydana gelmektedir. Araştırma kapsamında tanıtılan dijital uygulama araçlarının, her bölüm içeriğinin kendi temasına uygun olacak şekilde uygulama örnekleri ve etkinlikler üzerinden somutlaştırılması esas alınmıştır. Dolayısıyla çalışma sınırları çerçevesinde tanıtılan aynı dijital araçların, farklı bölüm metinlerinde farklı işlevlerine yönelik çeşitli özelliklerinin zengin örneklendirmeler aracılığıyla ön plana çıkartılmasına dikkat edilmiştir. İlgili düzlemde çalışmadan yararlanacak olan araştırmacı, eğitmen ve eğitmen adaylarına; dijital teknoloji araçlarının yabancı dil öğretiminde kullanımına ilişkin geniş bir perspektif sunmak temel ilke edinilmiştir. Çalışmada yer alan bölüm içeriklerinin belirli bir kompozisyon ve tutarlılık dahilinde sunulması adına farklı bölümlerde yer alan aynı dijital araçların birbirinden farkı işlev ve detaylı açıklamalarına ilişkin dipnotlar aracılığıyla köprüler oluşturularak bölümler arası bütünlük oluşturulması amaçlanmıştır. Yabancı Dil Olarak Dijital Türkçe Öğretimi kitabında yer verilen her bölüm içeriği, alan uzmanlarının görüşüne başvurularak literatüre katkı sağlayacak şekilde tasarlanması prensibiyle oluşturulmuştur. Bölüm içeriklerinde verilen teorik ve kuramsal çerçeveler, farklı literatür çalışmalarıyla desteklenmiş bilimsel alt yapıya dayalı bir zeminde aktarılması hedeflenmiştir. Dijital araçların sunumu sırasında yapılandırılan etkinlik örneklerinin, CEFR ile uyumlu olması ölçüt alınmış ve otantik bağlamlar üzerinden gerçekçi öğrenme atmosferleri kurgulanarak eğitmen ve eğitmen adaylarının eğitim ortamlarında rahatlıkla uygulayabileceği düzeyde olması temel alınmıştır.

At the same time the author, professor emeritus of the MU Faculty of Social Studies, reflects on his personal; "adventurous journey through sociology" and presents the reader with some intellectual and ethical questions that he encountered along the way. The text is also a generational statement illustrating the inseparable connection between the field of sociology and society. Description: V západní Evropě sice volební volatilita za posledních třicet až čtyřicet let významně narostla, skutečnou explozi voličské nestability ovšem spojujeme se zeměmi bývalého komunistického bloku ve východní Evropě. Tato publikace se proto zaměřuje na výzkum volební volatility v 11 postkomunistických státech střední a východní Evropy od roku 1990 do roku 2020. Volební volatilitu studie chápe jako změnu voličské preference ve volbách jdoucích po sobě. Jelikož přechody voličů mezi stranami se odehrávají všemi různými směry, rozhodli se autoři zaměřit svou výzkumnou pozornost na ty, které považují v postkomunistickém kontextu za nejdůležitější v celkové sumě všech voličských přechodů. Zaprvé se jedná o hlasování pro nové strany a tedy přechody voličů k novým stranám. Zadruhé jsou vyčleněny přechody voličů od vládních stran. Oba procesy (ztráty vládních stran a zisky nových stran) podstatným způsobem přispívají k výši volební volatility. Celková úroveň agregované volební volatility dosahovala v postkomunistických státech průměrné hodnoty 31 procent. Agregovaná volatilita je měřena na základě změny v podpoře jednotlivých stran v po sobě jdoucích volbách a představuje nejnižší nutný podíl přechodů mezi stranami, který je nutný, aby mohly nastat reálné volební výsledky ve volbách jdoucích po sobě. Na individuální úrovni jsou přechody ještě četnější. Na základě analýzy individuálních dat z dotazníkových šetření autoři zjistili, že průměrná voličská volatilita dosahovala dokonce 44 procent. Téměř každý druhý volič změnil svou preferenci. Volatilita na individuální úrovni je tak mnohem vyšší, než potvrzují analýzy volebních výsledků. Jak měřit a zkoumat volební volatilitu? Proč vznikají nové strany? A co ovlivňuje jejich volební úspěšnost? Získávaly nové strany větší podporu v době po přechodu k demokracii nebo spíše v poslední době? Přispívají k volatilitě spíše vládní nebo opoziční strany? A nakolik je volební volatilita způsobena ztrátami vládních stran?

Description: On 13 March 1908, the National Bureau for the Collection of Data on the Trade in Women and Girls was founded. The 47-year-old H.J.A. Simons de Ruyter was appointed National Police Commissioner. He proved to be the best person for the job owing to his passion for gathering and recording vital data, his knowledge of languages and his dedicated, helpful and generous personality. The Bureau and the police worked with women’s organisations to monitor activities and carry out checks at stations and ports where women and girls who could be exposed to a lewd lifestyle might be travelling. After legislation on morality was passed in 1911, the Bureau was given an additional task in 1914 to tackle trade in lewd publications. After the First World War erupted that year, there was not much more to do at the Bureau, which led Simons de Ruyter to support the immigration authorities in Amsterdam at his own request. This consisted mainly of finding accommodation, providing healthcare, food, clothing and financial assistance and helping to repatriate Belgian refugees.

Description: Korehito Kurahara and “Proletarian Realism”: Proletarian Literature in Japan in 1920s. This paper examines the proletarian literature movement that emerged in Japan in the 1920s, focusing on Korehito Kurahara, a leading proponent. Kurahara studied Russian literature and his theory, “proletarian realism,” was based on concepts promoted by the Russian Association of Proletarian Writers (RAPP). The paper analyzes two of Kurahara’s works from which proletarian realism originated. Both works are based on arguments between leaders of the proletarian writers’ organization and A. Volonsky. After Kurahara, Japan attempted to interpret proletarian literature from the perspective of literary history, which Kurahara incorporated into Japanese literature based on RAPP discussions. This suggests that Japanese proletarian literary theory developed under the influence of the Soviet Union.

Description: In 2022, Korpora, the Public Safety Heritage Centre opened – tasked with acquiring, managing and exhibiting physical and digital collections on public safety in the Netherlands. Today, Korpora includes the national collections of the Dutch police and the fire service, the Dutch Red Cross and the former Civil Defence service. Korpora’s roots go back to the early 20th century, when firefighting and police enthusiasts began collecting heritage items from these organisations and putting them on display. Despite setbacks due to a lack of funding and a suitable home for the objects, as well as a lack of historical awareness within those organisations, a great deal of heritage items still managed to be preserved. Thanks to the dozen or so foundations – some already in existence, some set up later – the heritage has been preserved, expanded and ultimately culminated in Korpora’s rich and astounding subcollections.

Description: Ukrainian motifs in A. S. Makarenko’s Pedagogical Poem. Makarenko’s Pedagogical Poem in the Stalin era was perceived as a eulogy to the collective, while in late Soviet times the dominance of the collective and the tendency to violent solutions already irritated the Russian reader. The German historian Goetz Hillig saw Makarenko as a world pedagogical genius, created his scientific biography, and published a scholarly edition of his writings in German. Elena Tolstaya looks at The Poem, set in post-revolutionary Ukraine, in the aspect of Russian-Ukrainian bilingualism, and looks for possible responses to the actualities of the late 20s – early 30s.

Description: Fire scene investigators examine the physical characteristics of a fire scene and identify and collect physical evidence at the scene. This evidence is then analyzed to help determine whether the cause of the fire was accidental or intentional. During the fire scene investigation, investigators may find evidence that could point to criminal activity, such as accelerants, damaged vehicles, and certain burn patterns. As a study aimed at developing new tools and techniques for interpreting, identifying, and analyzing evidence at the scene of a fire, this book will hopefully contribute to the improvement of fire research and help fill a gap in this field in our country.

Description: The Ukrainian Theme in the Legacy of Vladimir (Ze’ev) Jabotinsky. Vladimir (Ze’ev) Jabotinsky (1880-1940) combined the characteristics of a convinced individualist, a nationalist-statist, and an equally convinced liberal with a tendency toward anarchism. He respected every people’s struggle for independence and called nationalism “the individualism of nations”. In his prose, essays and journalism, Jabotinsky was able to synthesize rational analysis with fearless intuition. This combination enabled him to predict both World Wars I and II and the Holocaust, long before Hitler invaded Poland. As a young man he lived for several years in Italy, which he considered his spiritual homeland. His views were formed, on the one hand, under the influence of Italian socialists, Garibaldi and Italian culture in general, and, on the other hand, under the influence of Ukrainian socialists, champions of independence. He maintained friendly contacts with some of them because he combined his Zionism with Ukrainianophilia, which survived despite the monstrous Jewish pogroms organized by the Petlyura troops in 1919-20. A special theme touched upon in the report is the supposed echoes of Ukrainian spontaneous individualism in Jabotinsky’s anarchist tendencies.

Description: Since poison gas was used during World War I, long-range bombers had been introduced and tensions were rising in Europe, the Air Raid Precautions Act was passed in the Netherlands in 1936. The legislation emphasised individual responsibility for self-protection. This meant that citizens had to buy a gas mask themselves. The Gas Mask Decree (1937) required all gas mask models for Civil Defence units and civilians to be approved by the Dutch State Arsenal. Facepieces and filter canisters had to be marked with the State Acceptance Number and year(s) of approval and production. This paper identifies and describes the gas masks used by police, fire brigades, Civil Defence units and individual citizens, 1931-1940. Three models are heavy, regular Army box respirators, whose filter containers are worn in a haversack on the chest. All the other models are lighter civilian gas masks, with an easily replaceable screw-on filter canister attached to the facepiece. The gas masks were carried in a basic satchel or cylindrical metal case. Two Dutch-made gas masks have a peculiar design: the Veritex gas mask’s facepiece has a swimcap type hood; the Hevea-Electro Model 128 gas mask’s facepiece has no outlet valve. Air is inhaled and exhaled through the filter canister.

Description: “Learn from Gorky”: “conversion” of Japanese proletarian wrier Tokunaga Sunao. In the proletarian literary movement that flourished in Japan in the 1920s and 1930s, the main goal of proletarian literature was considered for intellectual writers to awaken the will to revolution in working readers. The writer from working class Sunao Tokunaga after the collapse of the revolutionary movement in 1933 began to write stories based on the life and attitude of the working people, offering to “learn from Gorky” and his autobiographical works that depicted the behavior and attitude of people at the bottom of society. At the same time, Tokunaga was involved in the colonial movement of the Japanese Empire of that time, because he, as a result of identification with the Japanese workers, lost sight of the expulsion and oppression of the indigenous people in Manchuria.

Description: During the Second World War, crime rates skyrocketed in the occupied Netherlands, particularly concerning theft and other offences against property. These crimes were committed by both those who had been convicted in the prewar period and previously ‘well-behaved’ citizens. Some of them felt forced to steal by the circumstances, others took advantage of the situation for their own benefit. How did suspects justify their acts? Did they consider theft during the occupation to be a crime, or not? And how did Dutch judges pass judgement concerning property crimes? Did they have compassion for stealing compatriots, or did they consider theft in times of scarcity and increasing poverty to be a great danger, which should be severely punished? In this book, historian Jan Julia Zurné uses case files and verdicts by Dutch courts to provide insight into the lives, experiences and motivations of wartime thieves.

Description: Title in English: Modelling Mechanical Phenomena in School Physics The book offers a view of physical modelling in primary school education, especially in mechanics. It has several aims, namely: a description of models in their historical development up to the present day (the emphasis is on applicability to primary school practice); a comparison of selected development environments suitable for the creation of computer models by teachers and pupils; a description of teachers and pupils using and creating models for their own teaching or preparation. Finally, several piloted models that can be applied in school physics are presented. The publication contains three parts: Pedagogical (focusing on the goals in Czech curriculum documents); Theoretical (devoted to digital education and its impact on people and the perception of models by students and teachers); Practical (devoted to the actual creation of models for school practice).

Description: To improve the quality of care, guidance methodologies can be very helpful for supervisors, practitioners and other stakeholders. A counseling methodology provides an employee with a shared view and concrete tools to act more systematically. This enhances acting skills and helps to better respond to specific needs and wishes of clients. This makes working according to methods one of the ways for professionalization. But what exactly is a counseling methodology? Which ones exist in the Netherlands? And for which target groups have they been developed? On the basis of ten criteria, 28 counseling methods were found and summarized. De Grote Methodiekengids, the result of two years of research by Alliade's Department of Applied Scientific Research (PWO), helps to make a choice for each target group on the basis of practical applicability and scientific foundation, among other things. This independent guide is indispensable for supervisors, policy makers, administrators, managers, researchers, remedial educationalists and psychologists in intellectual disability care. De Grote Methodiekengids compiles the available information from public sources and prevents each care facility from having to do comparative methodology research all over again.

Description: The Cold War was a tense time. The Netherlands took precautions to protect its people from potential disasters, in particular nuclear threats. One crucial aspect of this was the establishment of the Civil Defence Corps. The organisation played a key role in setting up command stations and training centres, such as the one in Overvoorde, Rijswijk, near The Hague, which ran exercises and training to prepare people for possible disasters. From large practice ruins to advanced alarm systems, the complex was fully equipped to deal with a broad range of threats. Although the threat of a nuclear attack subsided and the Civil Defence was officially disbanded in 1985, these command stations retained their importance. Many of them have since been repurposed, from storage sites to museums. The bunkers in Overvoorde now serve as an educational centre under the management of Korpora, the Public Safety Heritage Centre. By preserving these sites, we can ensure that future generations can learn from the past and the sacrifices that were made for their safety.

Description: Title in English: How do I cope?: Influence of school and family stressors on students aged 14–19 The publication deals with the influence of risk factors of the school and family environment on the ability of adolescent aged 14–19 to cope with stressful situations. After theoretical introductory part the main part of the publication presents the conclusions of a quantitative research survey monitoring the influence of selected stress factors (i.e. factors of the school and family environment) on the occurrence of psychosomatic difficulties, the character of coping strategies and the psychohygienic habits of the monitored group of adolescent pupils. These parameters are compared between groups with regard to their age, place of residence, type of school and the presence of specific learning disabilities. Presented outcomes can serve both pedagogical and counselling staff in school practice, as well as parents and the wider public.

Description: The Mamluks (648-923/1250-1517), who ruled Egypt, Syria, and the Hijaz region, are considered to be one of the most important Muslim-Turkish states in Islamic history because they put an end to the Crusader threat in Syria and stopped the westward advance of the Mongols (Ilkhanids) who had destroyed the eastern part of the Islamic world. The Mamluks’ establishment of security and stability in their lands enabled the ulama, who were affected by the political turmoil in Andalusia and Anatolia, as well as central Iraq and Iran in the early 7th/13th century, to turn to the Egyptian-Sham region. In addition to the political stability they created, the Mamluks built many scientific institutions in cities such as Cairo, Damascus, Aleppo, and Jerusalem. They provided wide opportunities to scholars, making these cities the most important centers of knowledge. The rich scholarly environment in Egypt and Damascus, which attracted many scholars from various parts of the Islamic world, paved the way for the writing of many works in almost every field of Islamic sciences and the emergence of new and voluminous encyclopedic genres. Thus, an enormous amount of literature was created in fiqh, hadith, tafsīr, kalām, mysticism, philosophy, logic, qirāʾa, sīra, history, and tabāqat. The understanding and interpretation of this literature, which is the result of an unprecedented scholarly effort in Islamic history, requires the contribution of many researchers in different fields. As a result of this need, interest in the scholarly and cultural accumulation of the Mamluk period is increasing both in international academic circles and in our country. Although the number and quality of studies on the political history of the Mamluks are not yet at the desired level, some studies have been conducted in the Turkish literature. However, research on the ulama, scientific institutions, types of works, and the status of Islamic sciences during the Mamluk period is still in its infancy. To overcome this deficiency to some extent, the Institute of Islamic Studies at Istanbul University (then known as the Center for Islamic Studies at Istanbul University) organized a workshop titled Islamic Sciences in the Mamluk Period on 19-20 September 2019. Thus, it was aimed to evaluate the status of the studies on the ulama and Islamic sciences related to the Mamluk period, to propose new research topics in the areas of need, to ensure cooperation among those interested in this field, and to create a basis for future studies. At the end of this workshop, the need to organize an international meeting with wide participation in the scholarly tradition in the Mamluk period was expressed. For this purpose, an international symposium titled The Tradition of Knowledge in the Mamluk Period-I (13th and 14th Centuries) was organized on September 28-29, 2021, hosted by Istanbul University in cooperation with the Institute of Islamic Studies at Istanbul University and the Foundation for Research in Islamic Sciences (ISAV). In the symposium, many researchers made presentations on tafsīr, hadith, fiqh, historiography, philosophy, kalām, mysticism, culture-literature, ulama, and scientific institutions. This book was formed by revising some of the papers presented at the symposium during the publication phase. The full text of the relevant papers has been reviewed and turned into articles. The thematically re-planned book consists of seven chapters: Qurʾānic Sciences and Tafsīr, Fiqh Thought and Literature, Hanafi Fiqh and Hadith Studies, Kalām, History and Sīra Writing, Language and Literature, Scientific Institutions and Ulama. Memlüklerin siyasi tarihine dair sayısı ve niteliği henüz arzulanan seviyede olmamakla birlikte Türkçe literatürde bazı çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Ancak Memlükler döneminde ulema, ilim kurumları, telif eser türleri ve İslâmî ilimlerin durumu hakkındaki araştırmalar henüz başlangıç düzeyindedir. Bu konudaki eksikliğin bir nebze dahi olsa giderilmesi amacıyla İstanbul Üniversitesi İslâm Tetkikleri Enstitüsü (o zamanki ismiyle İstanbul Üniversitesi İslam Araştırmaları Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi) tarafından 19-20 Eylül 2019 tarihlerinde Memlükler Döneminde İslâmî İlimler adıyla bir çalıştay düzenlenmiştir. Böylece Memlükler dönemiyle ilgili ulema ve İslâmî ilimler hakkındaki çalışmaların durumunun değerlendirilmesi, ihtiyaç duyulan alanlarda yeni araştırma konularının teklif edilmesi, bu sahanın ilgilileri arasında iş birliğinin sağlanması ve yapılacak çalışmalar için bir zemin oluşturulması amaçlanmıştır. Yine bu çalıştayın sonunda Memlükler dönemindeki ilim geleneğine dair geniş katılımlı uluslararası bir toplantının düzenlenmesi ihtiyacı dile getirilmiştir. Bunun için İstanbul Üniversitesi İslâm Tetkikleri Enstitüsü ile İslâmî İlimler Araştırma Vakfı’nın (İSAV) iş birliği ile 28-29 Eylül 2021 tarihlerinde İstanbul Üniversitesinin ev sahipliğinde Memlükler Dönemi İlim Geleneği-I (XIII.-XIV. Yüzyıllar) adıyla uluslararası sempozyum tertip edilmiştir. Sempozyumda tefsir, hadis, fıkıh, tarih yazıcılığı, felsefe, kelâm, tasavvuf, kültür-edebiyat, ulema ve ilim kurumlarına dair birçok araştırmacı tarafından sunumlar gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elinizdeki kitap sempozyumda sunulan bazı tebliğlerin yayın aşamasında tekrar gözden geçirilmesiyle teşekkül etmiştir. Tam metin olarak hazırlanan ilgili tebliğler hakemlik sürecine tabi tutularak makale haline getirilmiştir. Tematik olarak yeniden planlanan kitap Kur’ân İlimleri ve Tefsir, Fıkıh Düşüncesi ve Literatürü, Hanefî Fıkhı ve Hadis Çalışmaları, Kelâm, Tarih ve Siyer Yazıcılığı, Dil ve Edebiyat, İlim Kurumları ve Ulema başlıklı yedi bölümden oluşmaktadır.

Description: Moscow at the turn of history. About the “toponymic upheaval” and not only. The article digs into the urban (and political) geography of Moscow and how this is perceived in Italy in the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union. In particular, the investigation will focus on a number of volumes related to the late Soviet era that were published in Italy between the late 1980s and the mid-1990s. The authors are mainly newspaper and TV correspondents: Vittorio Zucconi (1944-2019, Il Corriere della sera, Si fa presto a dire Russia); Demetrio Volcic (1931-2021, RAI, Mosca. I giorni della fine); Enrico Franceschini (1956, La Repubblica) who is both a journalist (La fine dell'impero. Ultimo viaggio in URSS) and a novelist (La donna della Piazza Rossa). However, the texts index also includes a politician, Giulio Andreotti (L’URSS vista da vicino. Dalla guerra fredda a Gorbaciov), and a comic character, Mickey Mouse, who, in an October 1988 issue number, shows how in the years of perestroika people looked at the nascent (dying) country with both fear and curiosity. All the authors, regardless of their profession and orientation, have the feeling that they are also witnessing history through urban geography; it is no coincidence that all the texts analyzed, to varying extents, “photograph” buildings, streets, monuments... that is to say , “places,” which may be “old,” i.e. inherited from previous travelers or the result of historical, political or literary reminiscences, or “new” places, where a new path of history is being written.

Description: Title in English: Research in foreign language didactics V This publication presents an empirical research of pronunciation mistakes of Czech students learning German as a second foreign language at elementary school. The aim of the research was to verify the extent of the students’ pronunciation difficulties with German pronunciation phenomena error-prone for Czech native speakers. The research determined in what way these errors manifest themselves in the transfer from the students’ previously acquired languages, i.e. their mother tongue (Czech) and the first foreign language learnt (English). Within the theoretical foundation, the focus is put on different concepts of pronunciation in terms of foreign language teaching objectives, definitions of language errors and their causes, the development of the German pronunciation standard and methodological approaches to error analysis.

Description: İstanbul Üniversitesi Yayınları’nın çağrısı üzerine hazırladığımız ve Cumhuriyetin 100.yılına armağan etmek istediğimiz bu küçük çalışmamızı hatırat, anılar ve bu alandaki yazınla ilgilenen meslektaşlarımızın ve meraklı okurların ilgisine sunuyoruz. Toplumsal hafıza ve hafızanın üretimi, siyaseti üzerine düşünürken geç Osmanlı ve Cumhuriyet dönemi anılarını uzun zamandır okuyor ve bu konu üzerinde çalışıyorduk. Bu kapsamda çeşitli alanlara yayılmış anıları inceledik: erkekler ve kadınlar tarafından kaleme alınmış, farklı toplumsal grupların deneyimlerini yansıtan anıların yanı sıra tematik olarak da İstanbul, belirli siyasal olaylar ve meslek gruplarının anılarını eleştirel bir gözle okuduk, tartıştık. Toplumsal hiyerarşinin en üstünde yer alan kişilerin, devlet adamı, asker, diplomat, siyasetçi ve edebiyatçı anılarının yanı sıra farklı toplumsal sınıflara mensup insanların anılarını okurken farklı din, dil ve etnik gruplardan kişilerin kendilerini nasıl ifade ettiğini izlemeye çalıştık. Bu küçük çalışmamızda öncelikle hatırat/anı türünü, yaşam öyküsü anlatılarını tarihsel geçmiş, erken ve modern örnekler, batı ve batı dışı ülkelerdeki ilgili yazın ışığında gözden geçirdik. Cumhuriyet Türkiye’sini, dönemler, gelişmeler ve sorunlarını, öne çıkan temaları, tartışma ve modaları, değişen mekânı geç Osmanlı döneminden başlayarak anılar yardımıyla bir kez daha okuyabileceğimizi hatırlatmak istedik. Geç Osmanlı dönemi derken 1908 ve sonrasını esas almak, Büyük Savaş ve Cumhuriyetin kuruluşunu, İstanbul, İzmir ve Ankara’da yaşayan ve anıları yayınlanmış aydınlar, sanatçı ve siyasetçiler, gazeteciler, anılarını kaleme almış sıradan insanların gözünden izlemek bize önemli ve öğretici geliyor. Bu insanların kişisel ve grupsal anlatıları, aile deneyimleri bize tarihi daha insani, daha içeriden, yaşayanların tecrübesiyle ete kemiğe büründürüyor, daha anlaşılır kılıyor. Bunu en iyi yapabileceğimiz aracın kişilerin yaşam öyküsü anlatıları ve anıları olduğunu düşünüyoruz. Anılarını yazanların aile öykülerinden başlayarak geçmişlerini nasıl ele aldıkları, dönemleri ve deneyimlerini nasıl değerlendirdikleri, yorumladıkları tarih ve siyaset açısından kıymeti çoğu kez bilinmeyen bir önem ve değer taşıyor. Elbette anıları bir tarihsel belge olarak kullanmak, gerçekliğe referans olarak bakmak çeşitli sorunlar taşıyor. Bilimsel tarih çalışmaları ile hafıza, anılar ve anlatılar arasında gidip gelen, edebi türlere yakın duran, bireysel, düşünsel farklılıklar, kırılmalar, tercihler ve yorum farklılıkları içeren bir tür, yaşam öyküsü anlatıları. Çalışmamızın amaçları arasında tarih yazımı ile bu türden kişisel anlatıların, hayat öyküleri ve anıların niteliği üzerine düşünmek ve çalışmak da yer aldı. Bu anlamda yöntem üzerine de düşündük ve bu konuya da çalışmamızda değindik. Tüm eksiklikleri, görüş ve deneyim farklılıkları ve yazılış amaçlarına bağlı olarak kırılmış merceklerden bakış açılarına karşın anıların ülkemizin yakın tarihine, Cumhuriyet tarihine ışık tutacak nitelikte ve canlılıkta olduklarını düşüncesiyle tarihi bir de yaşayanların gözünden, onlar açısından, gerçek insanların deneyimleri ışığında düşünmek ve tartışmakta yarar olduğunu iddia ediyoruz. Çalışmamızın özgün yanlarından en önemlisi bu konuda bir bibliyografya hazırlamış olmamız. Bibliyografya çalışmasının bu alanda araştırma yapan meslektaşlarımıza, öğrencilerimize, anı okurlarına, konuyla ilgili herkese yararlı olmasını umuyoruz.

Description: For numerous public interests there are supervisory bodies, such as the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) and the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM). Drawing on the multidisciplinary Transformative Equality Approach that was developed in the UU Gender and Diversity Hub, we argue that it is high time to establish a Netherlands Authority for Emancipation (NEMA). Rather than putting the onus for emancipation and equality on those who suffer from inequality, the government should take ownership of inequality problems by establishing a supervisory body for effective compliance and enforcement of equal treatment legislation.

Description: Göl, akarsu ve denizler yüzyılları aşan süreden beri çoğunluğu insan kaynaklı olmak üzere çeşitli kirleticilerin baskısı altında bulunmaktadırlar. Özellikle endüstriyel üretimin hız kazandığı 1900’lü yılların ortalarından itibaren bu baskılar daha da artmış birçok su kaynağı kullanılamaz hale gelmiştir. Su kalitesindeki bozulmalar ve iklimsel değişim nedeniyle çok sayıda tür ortadan kalkmış, ya da tükenme noktasına gelmiştir. Ülkemizde de benzer çevresel sorunlar 1950’li yıllardan itibaren görülmeye başlanmıştır. Başta sanayi üretiminin büyük bir kısmının gerçekleştiği Marmara Bölgesindeki deniz ve içsu kaynakları olmak üzere birçok su kaynağı sanayi atıkları, evsel atıklar ve tarımsal kirleticiler ile baş başa bırakılmıştır. Söz konusu kirleticiler nedeniyle en büyük su kalitesi kaybına uğrayan alanların başında ise Marmara Denizi gelmektedir. Marmara Denizi havzası başta ülkemizin en büyük şehri olan İstanbul olmak üzere en büyük şehirlerini barındıran bir iç deniz konumundadır. Göreceli olarak küçük bir alan olmasına rağmen havzada ülke nüfusunun yaklaşık 1/3’ü yaşamaktadır. Havzadaki aşırı nüfus artışı ve kontrolsüz yapılaşma özellikle Marmara Denizi üzerinde büyük bir baskı oluşturmuştur. Uzun yıllar süresince arıtılmadan ya da sadece ön arıtıma tabi tutularak Marmara Denizine verilen atıklar denizin taşıma kapasitesini aşmış, bu nedenle denizde yaşayan birçok canlı türü tamamen ortadan kaybolmuştur. Hatta aşırı kirlenme nedeniyle Marmara Denizi’nin “Doğu Körfez” bölümü uzun yılardan beri balıkçılığa kapatılmıştır. Son zamanlarda Marmara Denizinde ortaya çıkan en önemli ekolojik sorunlardan bir tanesi de yaklaşık 6 ay süren müsilaj artışıdır. Müsilaj Ocak 2021 de başlayıp Haziran 2021’e kadar devam etmiştir. Müsilaj artışının 6 ay gibi uzun bir süre devam etmesi, büyük bir alanda habitat kayıpları yaratması, ekolojik tahribat kadar ekonomik kayıplara neden olması, balıkçılık dahil birçok ekosistem hizmetlerini etkilemesi nedeniyle dünya literatürüne girmiştir. İstanbul Üniversitesi olarak böylesine önemli ekolojik sorunu detaylı bir şekilde araştırmak, sonuçlarını ortaya koymanın gerekliliğine inanarak sadece Marmara Denizi’nde ortaya çıkan müsilaj sorunu ile ilgili çalışmaların yer aldığı 13 bölümden oluşan kitap yayınlamaya karar verdik. Deniz araştırmaları konusunda yaklaşık 80 yıllık deneyime sahip İstanbul Üniversitesinin yayınladığı bu eserin deniz bilimcilere ve karar vericilere başucu kaynağı olmasını diliyoruz.

Description: Title in English: Prediction of potential locations for water-retention dams in landscape based on re-utilisation of defunct relics of water-management buildings: Certified methodology This certified methodology shows the steps to be taken by contractors and builders of small water reservoirs with a special focus on preserving and archiving cultural value of historic landscape and its evolution. The methodology describes how to find and use defunct relics of historical waterdams in modern constructions (water retention dams), from identification in the landscape, through incorporation into the project documentation of the dam construction, to basic protection during the building process itself. State legislature on historic landscape is also mentioned. Re-utilisation of historic waterdams allows for their conservation for future generations and points at features of the historic dams at risk of destruction, and which need archaeological attention during the construction works (especially the historical drainage outlet). This methodology is praxis driven, as it is actively using knowledge gained through close co-operation with contractors and builders, and reflects their needs during construction.

Hun rol is behalve ethisch ook conceptueel: zij kunnen de kwaliteit en de coherentie van het wetenschappelijk onderzoek verbeteren door erop toe te zien dat specifieke concepten op een consistente en doordachte manier worden gebruik binnen interdisciplinaire projecten. Hens argumenteert dat toeval en onzekerheid een centrale rol spelen in de bio-ethiek, maar dat die in een spanningsrelatie kunnen raken met de pogingen om bepaalde theorieën ingang te doen vinden als wetenschappelijke kennis: bij het beschrijven van organismen en praktijken creëren we op een bepaalde manier de wereld. Hens stelt dat dit noodzakelijk een ethische activiteit betreft. Doorheen de verkenning van genetisch onderzoek, biomedische ethiek, autismeonderzoek en het concept ‘risico’ toont Hens aan dat er niet zoiets bestaat als ‘universeel’ of ‘neutraal’ wetenschappelijk of klinisch weten. Integendeel, uitgaan van de gesitueerdheid van individuele ervaringen is essentieel om de wereld rondom ons te begrijpen, om er de beperkingen van in te zien (en die van onszelf) en om een ethische toekomst vorm te geven. Description: PAUL GILSON (1865-1942), born and raised in Brussels, grew into a valued artist during the fin de siècle. He was and is known as an erudite composer, orchestrator, theoretician, critic, musicographer and educator. A prestigious Prix de Rome (1889) and his symphonic work La Mer (1892) made him known far beyond the national borders. Because of his remarkable commitment to wind music, and that of amateur orchestras in particular, we still remember Gilson today as the Father of Belgian wind music. Gilson's extremely versatile artistry resonated with numerous international trends. He closely followed current musical life at home and abroad and reported extensively in newspapers, magazines and radio broadcasts. At the conservatories of Brussels and Antwerp and as a private teacher, he managed to stimulate and sustainably influence a new generation of composers and musicians. That pedagogical passion also challenged Gilson to bundle his sharp insights into theoretical tracts. All of these facets of Gilson's life and work are the focus of this book, with a particular focus on his national and international importance. In the final chapter, the authors present an original approach to diagnosing graphomotor disabilities based on an objective analysis of online handwriting. The resulting “Graphomotor and Handwriting Disabilities Rating Scale” (GHDRS) allows for a detailed assessment of the sources of a child’s difficulties. The book is intended primarily for workers in the school guidance system, especially special educators and psychologists, but also for others interested in graphomotor skills.

Description: Title in English: Methodological publication of work with inclusive classroom with the focus on pupils with physical disability: Methodical Manual Publication is one of the outputs of the project Quality Inclusive Education of Pupils with Special Education Needs at elementary and secondary school. This text focuses on teaching pupils with physical disabilities in an inclusive classroom. The text is divided into three chapters, the first one defines theoretical background. Described is physical disability with an emphasis on cerebral palsy together with the specifics of the target group of pupils. Part of the chapter also defines special pedagogical diagnostics. The second chapter focuses on the education of pupil with cerebral palsy in inclusive school. In the third chapter are presented results of the research part of the project with special education needs – with physical disabilities with the focus on cerebral palsy.

Description: This article presents a close reading of gothic features in Simone Atangana Bekono’s novella Zo hoog de zon stond (‘As high as the sun stood’, 2022). This analysis serves as a way to comment on recent academic debates about the end, or ends, of critical theory, more specifically about ways of reading: surface reading or symptomatic reading. Supporting Esther Peeren’s recent plea for a return to symptomatic reading, I argue that a clearcut opposition between surface and depth is untenable.

Description: This three-volume book investigates the Russian transformations of one of the central concepts of Greek Christology, the self-humiliation or kenosis of Christ. The author applies rhetoric (paradox, metaphor, metonymy) as a means to elucidate mechanisms of theological persuasion and to trace the representations of the humiliated Christ and his imitations in various media from liturgy and iconology to everyday practice and literary fiction. The exploration of post-Christian literature of the 19th and 20th century (N. Chernyshevskii, M. Gor’kii, N. Ostrovskii, Ven. Erofeev, Vl. Sorokin) demonstrates the existence of a kenotic Christology after Christianity.

Description: Paradoxality as a Specific Feature of Dostoevsky’s Literary Works. Techniques, Stylistics, Mechanisms of Action. All works by Dostoevsky reveal the presence of paradox. These paradoxes act according to mechanisms that depend either on the fictional (polyphonic) or nonfictional (monologic) text “dominant.” Taking as a starting point (a) the arguments of G.S. Morson, according to whom paradoxes “seem to carry the quintessence of ‘Dostoevskyism’, particularly of his brand of humor,” (b) the analysis of Dostoevsky’s paradoxical humor; and (c) the three main categories of paradoxes (“empty or rhetorical”, “negative”, “positive”), we argue that Dostoevsky applies a fourth type of paradox, one that affects neither the premise nor the ending of the paradoxical structure, but their intrinsic logical interconnection. This article analyses a repertoire of paradoxical techniques used by Dostoevsky, focusing on the destabilizing humoristic function they enact.

Description: During Antwerp's Golden Age, the city replaced Bruges as the primary trading hub of Western Europe. Antwerp transformed from a medium-sized Brabantine town to an unparalleled metropolis in the Low Countries with over 100.000 inhabitants. Although little is known regarding the impact of this transformation on the city's governance, Antwerp serves as an intriguing and exceptional case study. Unlike other trading metropolises such as sixteenth-century Lyon or seventeenth-century Amsterdam, where merchants increasingly occupied positions in the city council, this was not the case in Antwerp. This book ‘Macht in de Metropool’ reconstructs the compositions of Antwerp’s city council between 1400 and 1550. It examines the profile of the different aldermen and mayors and how they evolved over time. Furthermore, the research analyses the real estate investments of this group and their relationship with key groups in society such as the merchants, the nobility, and the central administration.

Description: This volume focusses on the role of art, culture and politics in transitions and the struggle for social justice. Sometimes these transitions are traumatic and violent processes as in the case of post-apartheid South Africa. In other cases, as in Europe, they involve long-standing histories that are multi-directionally linked to colonialism, holocaust and totalitarianism. The authors explore intersectional issues of transition and social change in conjunction with broader debates on the role of democracy, citizenship and human rights. In doing so, they engage with the work of feminist scholar Rosemarie Buikema.

Description: Humor and Irony as a Means of Combating Atheism in the Discourse of F.M. Dostoevsky . The question of the God’s existence troubled Dostoevsky throughout his life. He created a very convincing portrait of the atheist of his time. He did not consider unbelievers immoral, but only “infected with recklessness”, and when speaking of his atheist acquaintances, often admitted that they were good people. Dostoevsky created the image of an atheist as an intelligent person, who is guided not by the heart, but by the mind and who often evokes sympathy for his questing, his thinking, and his suffering (like Versilov or Ivan Karamazov). If we carefully consider the “atheistic” characters of Dostoevsky, however, we will see that atheism is a phenomenon associated with something both bad and funny. Through humorous details, Dostoevsky imperceptibly creates an image of the “atheist” as a comical and frivolous person.

The Standard is primarily used by student teachers for orientation in the demands of of the quality of teaching at primary and secondary schools, for assessing and monitoring the progress of their professional competencies. Last but not least, the Standard helps to create a shared understanding of the teaching quality in the community of prospective and current teachers, thus bringing together actors involved in undergraduate training of pre-service teachers.

Description: Our Revolution contains a selection of translated Indonesian articles about the Indonesian Revolution (1945-1949) and the significance of that revolution for the development of the nation. When considering laughter in Dostoevsky, one immediately thinks of the long “tirade” in The Adolescent, which proposes a kind of physiology of laughter, and its unpredictable effects on the perception of those who witness it. Laughter and caustic humor color even the most intimate confessions and can serve to partially mask the difficult action of revealing oneself before others. Modernity itself is the era of self-exhibition, of a sort of widespread confession. And yet, the laughter of modernity has lost the essence of joy. Joy is a function of that almost impossible sincerity that unveils the essence of man. The grimace of the fool, who shamelessly denudes himself before others in confession, becomes a sign of the isolation of the modern self and the end of the utopia of sincerity pursued by Rousseau.

This technological area opens up new possibilities in a wide range of fields from industry, medicine, construction and architecture to the level of everyday home use. We also see a huge didactic potential in 3D technology, which is currently not being used. The implementation of 3D technologies in teaching at primary and secondary schools enables the creation of completely new types of teaching aids and increases the availability of teaching models for pupils and students. Students can work with teaching models in class and, with methodological supports, they also actively participate in their creation.

Vychází z detailního popisu jazyků a dialektů současného Španělska a snaží se načrtnout jazykovou dimenzi konfliktů, ke kterým dochází v tomto mnohojazyčném státě. Popisuje historii a současnost složitého vztahu mezi jazykem oficiálním (španělština) a jazyky kooficiálními (katalánština, baskičtina, galicijština). Ukazuje, že jazykový rozměr je jen jedním z aspektů, byť důležitým, daleko složitějšího konfliktu a že vztah mezi tímto jazykovým rozměrem a dimenzí politickou, kulturní a sociální je daleko komplikovanější, než jak se obvykle prezentuje. Vychází z analýzy aktuálních statistických dat a kromě detailního popisu stavu na jednotlivých dvojjazyčných územích (Baskicko, Galicie, Katalánsko, Valencie, Baleáry) obsahuje též zobecňující komentář, z kterého vyplývá, jak rozdílná je povaha jazykových konfliktů na jednotlivých územích a jak obtížné je hledat řešení na centrální, celošpanělské úrovni.

Description: In this essay, Berteke Waaldijk outlines the early development of gender studies in Utrecht through the course ‘Between Margin and Centre, Women in Culture and Society’. The course lent itself perfectly to an interdisciplinary approach and addressed many interrelated themes, such as gender, colonialism, racism and a politics of location. The course was also an example of close collaboration between Berteke Waaldijk and Rosemarie Buikema, whose ideas and academic careers influenced each other.

Description: Title in English: Test versions equivalence of the Slovak upper-secondary school leaving examination The research presented in this book strives to answer how test versions equivalence – a necessary condition for meaningful and fair interpretation and comparison of students’ results – could be achieved in the context of high-stakes examination. The research was carried on the Slovak upper-secondary school leaving examination in English at B1 level, namely on the tests of receptive skills operationalized between 2012 and 2015. Theoretical research on the methods and procedures and the application of some of them on the Slovak examinations in the empirical part provided deep insight into the degree of comparability of the test versions used between 2012 and 2015 and made it possible to identify problem areas in terms of test versions comparability. The research helped to identify suitable methods and approaches that might enable to develop equivalent test versions and subsequently, to interpret meaningfully the test results and the measured construct, i.e. students’ language proficiency.
