    Description: Considéré longtemps comme une grave faute, l'anachronisme a été réévalué pour en souligner les dimensions heuristiques. Acte délibéré ou involontaire, l’anachronisme peut ouvrir la voie aussi bien à une relecture du passé qu’à une réinterprétation du présent, nous permettant de repenser la « marche des temps » (Siegfried Kracauer) et de se pencher autrement sur les rapports que nous établissons à la fois avec le présent d’où écrit l’auteur, avec le passé que cet auteur réinvestit et avec le présent d’où nous lisons ses textes. L’objet de cet ouvrage est une revalorisation de l'anachronisme dont nous montrons aussi bien le potentiel poïétique que la dimension heuristique et interprétative de l’anachronisme en littérature. Cervantès, Camões, Chateaubriand, Gautier, Flaubert, Rimbaud Laforgue, Queneau, Perrault, Peter Handke, Thiéfaine, Pasolini, Jacques Demy, Kennely, Thomas Ostermeier, témoignent ici du potentiel poétique des « anachronismes créateurs ».

    Description: Depuis la fin du xxe siècle, un pan de la critique universitaire s’est montré soucieux d’offrir aux études francophones un soubassement épistémologique capable d’asseoir leur légitimité. Le présent ouvrage se situe résolument dans ce sillage. Son originalité tient sans doute à la contribution d’écrivains et d’étudiants conviés à participer à cet effort réflexif. Adoptant une composition polygraphe qui mêle articles scientifiques, essais et entretiens, ce livre esquisse un inventaire des concepts, pratiques et méthodes permettant d’appréhender les écritures francophones du xxie siècle commençant. Il fait ainsi surgir ou resurgir quelques grandes questions et met en relief certaines nécessités : reconsidérer le concept même de francophonie, inclure la variété de ses espaces et de ses corpus, mais aussi sortir les études francophones de leur confinement. Plus globalement, il s’agit d’élaborer de nouveaux cadres théoriques pour repenser l’espace, le temps et l’histoire littéraire.

    Description: El análisis semiótico de la diégesis o historia relatada y la actorialización o distribución de los actores del discurso en Ilona llega con la lluvia permite dilucidar la desesperanza como el hilo conductor de la novela, el cual es develado por el relato que hacen los personajes de sus recuerdos. En mi lectura, daré cuenta del componente argumental como universo diégetico donde se desarrolla la trama, así como el componente actoral, donde se localizan los actores Maqroll, Ilona y Larissa, y las acciones que estos realizan y que los afectan. La actorialización definirá, además, cómo estos actores se relacionan con las isotopías semánticas de la nostalgia como sentimiento siempre presente de lo gozado en un pasado feliz, la muerte como experiencia propia y la conciencia de la propia destrucción como correlato necesario de la vida.

    Description: Come un Sommo Gourmet, William Shakespeare è attento ai temi dell’alimentazione e pronto a combinare gli ingredienti del pianto e del riso, della commedia e della tragedia con i sapori più piccanti dell’eros e delle sue molte tavole imbandite. Basti pensare alle allegre crapule di Falstaff, il grasso cinghiale divorato dai triumviri di Antony and Cleopatra, il ricco ma fugace banchetto che appena s’intravede in The Tempest, oltre alle numerose altre scene in cui il cibo è metafora importante e portante dei molteplici sensi del testo. Nella cucina del bardo si sono inoltre formati autori che in modo cannibalesco hanno attinto a piene mani a ingredienti e sapori per cucinare testi inediti, succulenti o rivoltanti. Dai lecca-lecca dei burlesque ottocenteschi, passando per il grano dei Coriolanus di Bertold Brecht e Günter Grass, gli ingredienti shakespeariani lievitano misteriosamente e in modi sorprendenti nella dieta mediterranea di Franco Zeffirelli e Kenneth Branagh oltre che negli allegri brindisi del Falstaff verdiano.

    Description: Vulcano, Sicily 1964. After a meeting with him in Cortona, Helle Busacca, a poet and writer from Messina, began drafting an epistolary diary dedicated to Corrado Pavolini, a well-known intellectual and film director of Tuscan origins with whom she had been in love for over twenty years. Through the so far unpublished pages she dedicated to “una storia senza storia” (“a story without history"), the writer brings to life an incandescent theatre of the self, in which the dramatization of personal experience, the self-representative elaboration and the expression of a living and restless inner self combine in a mixture of strongly hybrid characters, which is conveyed by a disruptive communicative force. As the desperately pursued interlocutor becomes increasingly evanescent and unreachable, the voice of a modern tragic heroine emerges unmistakably between claim and confession.

    Description: Écrire la crise ce n'est pas la raconter. C'est montrer comment elle modifie nos manières de raconter. Encore faut-il s'entendre sur le mot lui-même car peut-on appeler crise (du grec « krisis » : changement brutal) cette lente dissolution des valeurs de la modernité qui nous fait entrer dans un « après » informulable, sinon par le terme souvent controversé de postmodernité ? Au-delà des polémiques que suscite cette notion, il s'agit ici de considérer le postmoderne non pas comme une régression anti-moderne mais comme la prise de conscience d'un certain nombre de dévoiements du projet moderne qui nous projettent dans une ère de turbulence dont les arts, et en particulier la littérature, portent la marque. Ainsi considéré, le postmodernisme n'est ni une école, ni une avant-garde. Il témoigne avant tout d'une crise de culture à la transition des deux siècles, qui s'est transformée en culture de la crise, de sorte que, non seulement la pensée, la science et les arts, s'en trouvent affectés, mais de manière plus profonde encore, la société et l'individu. C'est pourquoi cet essai se propose à la fois, d'examiner l'hypothèse postmoderne comme mise en turbulence des valeurs de la modernité, et de définir le postmodernisme en littérature comme une esthétique qui met en relation les configurations sociales et certaines formes d'écriture contemporaine.

    Description: In light of the dramatic events which have been shocking Ukraine since November 2013, this work’s itinerary aims at functioning as a basis for the formulation of new contact points, for a dialogue between traditions and cultures which nowadays are again being shaken by the events of history. The author examines the self-identification paths of the literary phenomenon of Russian language in Ukraine.     Description: Mito: relato explicativo, simbólico y dinámico, de uno o varios acontecimientos extraordinarios personales con referente trascendente, que carece en principio de testimonio histórico, se compone de una serie de elementos invariantes reducibles a temas y sometidos a crisis, que presenta un carácter conflictivo, emotivo, funcional, ritual y remite siempre a una cosmogonía o a una escatología absolutas, particulares o universales. Esta definición, general, fría e indeterminada, requiere un tiempo, un espacio, y sobre todo una conciencia que la viva. El mito no es un constructo mental ajeno a las vicisitudes socioculturales: lleva marcada en su piel y sus entrañas la huella de cada individuo y sociedad que lo vio nacer; pero también sabe adaptarse a las condiciones del nuevo tiempo que lo acoge. Mitos de hoy narra esa tensión del mito por mantenerse vivo en el terreno, aparentemente inhóspito, de un mundo desengañado. La Mitocrítica Cultural, aquí puesta en práctica, combina las herramientas tradicionales de la mitocrítica con factores no considerados sistemáticamente por la crítica precedente: la globalización, la inmanencia y el consumismo. Ofrece así una modesta contribución a la tarea de identificar, analizar y sintetizar la tipología de las manifestaciones del mito en la literatura, las artes y los medios de comunicación contemporáneos.     Description: La Fontaine affiche nettement sa filiation à l’égard de Marot. Du moins à l’égard d’un Marot. Comme beaucoup d’auteurs de son époque, il voit en effet dans le poète de L’Adolescence clémentine l’efflorescence printanière d’un style proprement français, qui allie au piquant et au brio la naïveté toute vernale d’une écriture. L’auteur des Fables et des Contes admire ainsi le brillant faiseur d’épigrammes. Il y reconnaît « le génie fran­çais », son ingenium, son naturel. Ce naturel s’exprime à la fois dans un esprit gaulois – que Rabelais radicalise trop pour qu’on puisse en faire un allié de marque – et une écriture transparente, non savante, à l’opposé de l’artificieuse et docte poésie de la Pléiade rejetée par le XVIIe siècle comme un accident regrettable dans l’histoire des formes. Cet « élégant badinage », assigné depuis Boileau à Marot, a pu nuire à l’œuvre de ce dernier en en restreignant la portée. La critique moderne a, par contraste, reconnu dans le poète de Cahors un esprit secret, anxieux, au cœur des débats évangéliques du premier XVIe siècle. Le vrai Marot est sûrement à rechercher au carrefour de ces deux interprétations extrêmes ; comme La Fontaine, au demeurant, que l’on ne peut réduire au modèle achevé de l’esthétique galante. La relation qui unit Marot et La Fontaine est bien en tout cas au départ une relation d’ordre formel. Aussi les chercheurs réunis ici ont tous tenté de repenser ou de repréciser les lectures stylistiques de l’un ou l’autre de ces auteurs à travers leur interprétation de L’Adolescence clémentine ou des Amours de Psyché et de Cupidon. La diversité des points de vue adoptés permet d’aider à définir ce qui reste en dernier lieu le plus difficile à caractériser, ce naturel du style, si revêche à l’analyse littéraire.

    Description: This book, the result of a lengthy labour of cataloguing and research, continues the indexing and recording of the unpublished epistolary material conserved in the Dessí fond, launched in 2003 by Chiara Andrei with the edition of the family correspondence (Firenze, FUP). Now, through 1,900 letters from friends and readers, Francesca Nencioni offers a different and more ample overview of the fundamental stages in the life and works of the writer, focusing above all on the years of his university training in Pisa. Of particular interest is the appendix of carefully annotated unpublished texts, which offers 19 letters from Dessí to friends and scholars, the complete two-way correspondence with Walter Binni, and the letters sent to the friend and disciple of the great historian, Delio Cantimori.     Description: Le secret est le “personnage théorique” de ce volume collectif qui essaye de penser les figures particulières que la Modernité lui a inventées. Il ne s’agit donc pas de décrire des structures hors de toute histoire mais de chercher en quoi le secret est intimement lié à une économie nouvelle du langage, à des formes littéraires nouvelles. Car la Modernité a produit une exigence de tout dire qui change radicalement le partage entre dicible et indicible. Journal intime ou roman sont, notamment, deux matrices fécondes d’écriture du secret et leur floraison est, d’une certaine façon, l’histoire de la modernité. On déclinera donc quelques figures narratives du secret, en racontant le “roman du secret”. De Madame de Duras à Huysmans, Proust et Bernanos, de Blanchot à Quignard, ou chez Carrère et Both, le principe même du romanesque réside dans les modalités indéfinies de révélation du secret, ce secret qui se réserve, qui nous fait lire. Par contraste, la poésie choisit le versant du mystère. On en verra chez Maeterlinck, Artaud, Pessoa ou Michaux les modes de figuration, et ce qui fait du lyrisme une science de l’ineffable. Les figures du secret sont infinies, chatoyantes et séduisantes. Les énigmatiques jeunes filles de Balthus nous rappellent la place du visible et les réflexions de Wittgenstein ouvrent à une redéfinition de la subjectivité. Le secret échappe. Il relance heureusement notre désir de savoir, notre avidité de lire, notre besoin de lui donner un contenu. Il est ainsi l’un des noms, secrets et éclatants, de la littérature.

Visages plus purs exaltés par la lunette, visions fugitives - « Un éclair... puis la nuit ! »- qui obéissent à la logique de l’instantané : le fil de la guillotine commande l’exposition romanesque du visage. L’échafaud fonde une scène nouvelle, suscite une constellation d’images et de textes. Singulière machine, -appareil funèbre, -vrai objet de désir. La littérature romanesque du xixe siècle se renouvelle, s’édifie, s’échafaude à partir de la guillotine, avec vue sur la Grève.

Retraçant le tortueux « itinéraire intellectuel » de Gide à partir de la débâcle jusqu’à l’épuration, cet ouvrage examine le rôle ambigu du doyen des lettres françaises, dont les manœuvres complexes permettent d’aborder de façon privilégiée trois questions de grande importance : la relation entre littérature et politique pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, les refoulements et les repositionnements qui continuent à alimenter la controverse à propos de cette période, enfin le rôle des intellectuels reconnus en temps de crise nationale. À l’exception du Journal datant du début de la guerre, la critique s’est peu intéressée aux publications de Gide pendant les années sombres. Jocelyn Van Tuyl scrute tous ces textes en détail, retrace l’évolution des opinions politiques de Gide et, surtout, lit ces écrits de guerre les uns à la lumière des autres. Car c’est l’interaction entre ces textes qui révèle toute la complexité des positions politiques de Gide et la virtuosité rhétorique que l’auteur déploie pour redresser son image ternie.

    Description: C’est presque à la même époque qu’André Gide découvrit la passion du voyage et celle de l’écriture ; qu’il ait ensuite établi entre ces deux activités, des rapports féconds ne serait pas étonnant, et ne le distinguerait guère de toute une catégorie d’écrivains nomades qui proliféra avec l’essor de la colonisation et des moyens de transport. Mais il se trouve que ces rapports furent aussi d’opposition, le bonheur du voyage devenant sous sa plume l’expression d’un destin ironique ou tragique, toujours décevant, parfois cruel. S’interrogeant sur les causes de cette contradiction, cet ouvrage s’efforce de montrer l’existence d’une véritable stratégie du voyage gidien : lisible autant dans la structure des œuvres que dans leur organisation thématique ou symbolique, elle permet à son auteur de vivre et de dire ce que la société et une part de lui-même condamnaient au silence. Chargé à la fois de révéler et de dissimuler, le voyage est ainsi au cœur de l’ambiguïté gidienne. Partant des rapports historiques de Gide avec le voyage, c’est donc en fait dans une relecture de son œuvre que nous sommes embarqués, voyageant à notre tour à la poursuite d’un éternel absent.

    Description: Envois & Dédicaces constitue une réflexion sur le don du livre, qu’il se manifeste par un ex-dono, un envoi manuscrit ou une dédicace imprimée. Si cette dernière a été étudiée à propos de tel ou tel auteur, il nous manquait encore une réflexion d’ensemble sur celle-ci. Quant à l’envoi, jugé marginal et mondain, il n’a guère été abordé, hormis par les bibliophiles. On en trouvera ici un « bref traité » qui en souligne toute la richesse. Pas plus qu’il n’existe d’éléments insignifiants dans la vie psychique, ainsi que Freud nous l’a appris, il n’existe dans le livre de détail dépourvu de valeur. La modernité s’est intéressée longuement à la signature, beaucoup moins à l’envoi et à la dédicace, parce qu’elle estimait la littérature intransitive. Elle transite cependant et s’adresse à quelqu’un. Et ce qui semble à première vue accessoire joue un rôle non négligeable, sinon capital, dans la constitution du sens d’un livre. Telle est l’hypothèse d’Envois & Dédicaces, et son pari. Sa première partie, « Perspective cavalière » s’interroge, entre autres, sur la position en tiers du lecteur ainsi que sur la place de la dédicace, premiers mots d’un livre qui se révèlent souvent aussi ses derniers mots. La seconde, « Couleurs locales », examine la façon dont quelques auteurs se sont appropriés ce geste : un musicien, Bach, et cinq écrivains, Voltaire, Hugo, Baudelaire, Montherlant, Goffette, ce dernier nous offrant, en guise de conclusion, un poème inédit adressé « à ceux qui partent ».

    Description: El título de esta obra Originales e inéditos 1928. José Carlos Mariátegui es, en cierta medida, atrevido, por cuanto se considera que las obras completas, es decir, todos los escritos de Mariátegui están publicados, según se tiene conocimiento. Pese a dichas publicaciones, las lecturas de sus fuentes directas (léase, revistas de 1928) prospera ron y tomaron dimensiones para la decisión de compilar los escritos y cotejar con las posteriores publicaciones. Entendemos por inédito lo no publicado y estaría en contradicción si las obras de Mariátegui hubieran sido publicadas en su totalidad. Pero existe un enigma para los que desean leer y confiar en esa llamada totalidad. No hay nada más inquietante para un acucioso lector que indagar las fuentes directas como si en la indagación se tratara de manuscritos, y estas fuentes, indudablemente, son los primeros escritos de Mariátegui en distintas revistas de su época (consideramos aquí 1928). Y esta edición crítica nos presenta la compilación de los escritos de Mariátegui poco conocidos, digámoslo de alguna manera, como «manuscritos» o «inéditos», porque fueron archivados, y no tuvieron la disposición de su reedición. No nos plantearemos sus razones, sólo dejamos constancia de ello como un acto irresoluto.

    Description: Neben der Biblia pauperum ist das Speculum humanae salvationis das wohl bekannteste typologische Werk des Mittelalters. Vom lateinischen Text sind 328 handschriftliche mittelalterliche Quellen überliefert. Von seiner Popularität zeugen überdies Übersetzungen ins Deutsche, Französische, Niederländische, Englische und Tschechische. Diese Arbeit stellt eine der beiden niederländischen Fassungen des Speculum, und zwar die Prosaübersetzung aus dem Jahre 1464, in den Mittelpunkt. Neben Struktur und Funktion des lateinischen Textes werden in einem chronologisch-thematisch organisierten status quaestionis die Accessusfragen nach Herkunft und Autorschaft des Speculum erörtert. Vom mittelniederländischen Prosa-Spieghel werden eine genaue kodikologische Beschreibung und eine breit angelegte Analyse der Sprache geboten. Auch der literaturhistorische Kontext und die Übersetzungs- und Bearbeitungstechnik werden eingehen behandelt. Die kritische Edition nach der Haarlemer Handschrift erfüllt ein altes Forschungsdesiderat, indem sie sowohl den Vergleich mit der bereits vor mehr als einem halben Jahrhundert herausgegebenen Versübertragung ermöglicht, als auch eine eminent wichtige Schnittstelle zwischen handschriftlicher und gedruckter Tradition in den Niederlanden für die Forschung zugänglich macht.

Pero cuando se cumplen 500 años, esto es el medio milenio, el aniversario ya entra en un territorio aparte, casi de la leyenda. Conmemorarlo es algo especial. En la historia de la literatura el poder recordarlo está restringido a pocas obras, aquellas que se consideran clásicas y monumentos culturales. En el caso de Amadís de Gaula hay un detalle más que hace notable la permanencia en el tiempo, pues también hay que tomar en cuenta que esta obra fue el paradigma de libros tildados de ociosos cuando no de locos o dañinos.

Des spécialistes de l’essai et d’autres formes de non-fiction, des médias et de l’image, de l’art contemporain, des études de genre, ont proposé des contributions. Mais si la tension entre théorie et création les irrigue, elle se manifeste aussi au cœur de l’ouvrage, qui propose la restitution d’échanges animés entre deux bédéastes, un éditeur et deux universitaires, autour de la notion d’essai dessiné. L’ensemble est également rythmé « au fil du crayon » par le point de vue en images de l’auteur de bandes dessinées Fabrice Erre, dessinateur embarqué du colloque final. Le volume L’Essai médiatique, issu d’un programme de recherche de trois ans développé à l’Université de Limoges et à l’Université Gustave-Eiffel, poursuit deux objectifs. D’abord, faire le point sur l’histoire et les théories d’un genre difficile à classer, l’essai littéraire, qui a pu être qualifié de « non-genre ». Cet essai vaut, au-delà de la pièce, pour l’histoire de la transmission en général. On y trouve une description des différentes classes de manuscrits, avec une étude des habitudes de lecture et des courants d’érudition de Byzance jusqu’aux écoles modernes. Suivent le texte grec avec apparat, et la traduction. Le livre se clôt sur une analyse qui restitue les mètres des chants de chœur et sur un index relatif à l’introduction. Les trois autres volumes contiennent la paraphrase argumentée (l’argument) des unités scéniques, ouvrant une discussion du détail. L’ambition dépasse celle d’un simple commentaire. La présentation prend souvent la forme de dossiers sur des questions de linguistique, de mythologie ou d’histoire des religions. Elle inclut et situe la diversité des constructions possibles, et légitime équitablement le choix de l’éditeur. Elle retrace en effet les conditions dans lesquelles s’est faite la lecture au cours des siècles selon les nations (et les traditions culturelles, politiques et religieuses). L’analyse remonte partiellement jusqu’à la Renaissance, mais répertorie plus systématiquement les opinions soutenues depuis le tournant décisif du xviiie siècle, montant toute une histoire de la philologie. À la fin du dernier volume un index multiple inclut les orientations idéologiques de la critique et les faits de langue et de style.

    Description: Karel Teige was one of the leading theorists of the Czech avant-garde, and his activity is bound up with the most enriching cultural contributions made to the Czech Republic in the first half of the twentieth century. Proclaiming himself a Marxist, he was frequently at odds with Czech liberal-pragmatic thought. The emergence of European totalitarianism coincided with a major turning-point in his life when, towards the end of the 1930s, he had to come to terms with the Nazi invasion of his country and with the local version of Stalinism. After the War he was marginalised from cultural life and he died of a heart attack while being persecuted in a ferocious campaign of defamation by the Communist Party. The book offers a portrait of this protagonist of European culture and of the process of rediscovery that in the 1960s reintegrated his work and his thought into the extraordinary cultural revival that blossomed in the Prague Spring of 1968.

    Description: This book is an analysis of the literary censorship that Acción Cató?lica (AC) implemented in Spain, through the Secretariat of Bibliographic Orientation (SOB) during the 1940s. The text delves into this system of trial and cultural control to demonstrate that AC imposed its own ideology on its members, redefining literature until turning it into another tool of its social indoctrination. As a consequence, it is demonstrated that AC questioned? the discursive authoritarianism of the Franco regime and, based on the work of literary criticism and the analyzed censor reports, a new perspective is provided from which to reconsider the relationship between Catholicism and the dictatorship. The study of the disagreements and ideological conflicts that arose within the regime reveals the existence of differentiated discourses in both institutions, thus breaking the illusion of homogeneity and apparent harmony. The work is presented as a novel approach to the strategies of cultural repression adopted by the dictatorship and the Church in the postwar period that opens an alternative door for the analysis of the mechanisms of intellectual and social control in that period and, in addition, it connects the existing bibliography about the changing and complex nature of Francoism with cultural studies.

    Description: At the end of the 1970s, a new genre cycle was formed in US cinema. Starting with space opera in cinema, for which George Lucas' Star Wars is paradigmatic, fantasy established itself for the first time as an independent cinematic genre in distinction from fairy tales and fantastic fiction. The enthusiasm for pen & paper role-playing games and the continuing J. R. R. Tolkien craze culminated in the following years in a series of films that absorbed, pushed and further developed the diversity of modern film technology and production: the spectrum of films ranged from live-action films (Conan the Barbarian) to puppet animation (The Dark Crystal) to animated films (The Last Unicorn), in which George Lucas as well as Jim Henson and the production companies behind them at the time played leading roles. Contemporary critics had written these films off as conservative, sometimes even reactionary genre plays. In contrast, this essay unfolds a (historical) poetics of the US fantasy film. With its film-analytical case studies, the volume shows how the films of the years 1977 to 1987 are embedded in a specific film culture and how the genre cycle as part of the Hollywood system prepared and significantly influenced the triumph of blockbuster cinema in the 1990s.

Les actes du colloque international « Sherlock Holmes : un nouveau limier pour le XXIe siècle » tenu à Cerisy-la-Salle en 2014 remontent aux sources mêmes du mythe littéraire pour suivre les évolutions subies par ce couple éminemment malléable qu’est le duo formé par Sherlock Holmes et le Dr Watson. Des premières adaptations pour l’écran muet, réalisées du vivant même de l’auteur, jusqu’aux séries télévisées actuelles, entre réécritures et pastiches qui passent par le cinéma, la BD, et la littérature, les auteurs ici réunis traquent les formes esthétiques et les supports divers qui ont porté l’image protéiforme du détective et de son acolyte jusqu’à nous, creusant le personnage aux attributs si reconnaissables pour mieux en dégager la profondeur. Venu à nous « d’un Londres de gaz et de bruine », Sherlock Holmes est bien, selon Borges, « une de ces bonnes manies qui nous restent ».

    Description: Du témoignage à la poésie, en passant par le roman, le théâtre et la grammaire de l’abjection, cet ouvrage tente de penser le corps parlé et le corps écrit en Syrie. Par écriture du corps, nous entendons les textes littéraires qui portent une attention particulière à la corporalité. Nous désignons également les mots que le corps articule sur une scène plus large, les gestes et les actes dans lesquels il s’engage, l’ensemble se dressant comme un texte à interpréter et réinterpréter sans cesse. Mais écrire le corps dans le contexte sanglant de la guerre en Syrie, c’est aussi se heurter à l’indicible de la catastrophe qui blesse le langage. C’est se mettre alors en quête d’un reste, d’un échappé, d’un presque rien qui, tout en relevant du corps meurtri, se refuse à la nihilisation de l’expérience du monde : des hommes et des femmes sont encore là pour lui opposer leurs mots qui œuvrent, inventant ainsi de nouvelles manières d’exprimer l’ineffable.

    Description: Homme de la frontière, Walter Scott est bien placé pour écrire sur cette limite à la fois concrète, topologique et abstraite, théorique. Né entre deux âges, à Édimbourg, capitale écossaise aux deux visages divisée entre la Vieille Ville et la Ville Nouvelle, il est issu d’une puissante famille frontalière et a passé sa jeunesse dans les Borders, zone de marche entre l’Angleterre et l’Écosse, avant de s’y installer définitivement. Structure charnière et conjonctive, la frontière est la véritable héroïne de sa série des "Waveley Novels" dont le nom est tiré du titre du premier roman publié il y a deux cents ans. L’œuvre de Scott est d’entrée de jeu placée sous le signe du déplacement et plus particulièrement de l’errance qui fait référence à un voyage interminable et sans but précis. Waverley, le prénom du personnage éponyme, vient en effet du verbe « waver » qui, certes, signifie hésiter en anglais, mais qui a aussi le sens d’errer, de vagabonder en écossais vernaculaire où il est employé comme un synonyme du verbe « wander ». Les intrigues romanesques reposent sur ces jeux de traversées transfrontalières, à la fois physiques et symboliques, qui sont l’occasion d’épreuves initiatiques transgressives en accord avec l’autre sens du mot errance, synonyme de défiance et d’erreur. Cette monographie s’interroge sur le rôle de la frontière chez Scott dans le contexte littéraire des récits de voyage sur l’Écosse avec Defoe, Pennant ou encore Johnson et Boswell, et dans le cadre historique de la tradition du voyage au XVIIIe siècle. L’objet de cette étude sur l’écriture de la frontière, et notamment du voyage erratique, est de dégager une voie du milieu que nous qualifierons de scottienne, c’est-à-dire propre à l’écrivain.

    Description: On ne raconte pas d’histoire, on ne représente pas de scène sans rencontre : nul doute que la rencontre constitue l’une des matrices les plus riches de la topique romanesque. Mais que doit‑on précisément entendre par « rencontre » ? L’étude du Roman comique de Scarron, qui en décline toutes les variations de l’amour le plus pur au burlesque le plus cocasse, permet de s’interroger sur une notion beaucoup plus complexe qu’elle n’en a l’air. À côté des classiques scènes de rencontre amoureuse, de première rencontre, on voit alors surgir des rencontres d’animaux et d’objets, mais aussi des rencontres de mots et, au-delà, de cultures. Il ne s’agit ici ni de jouer sur le mot, ni simplement d’établir une classification, mais de réfléchir à l’interaction de ces niveaux de la rencontre, qui constitue un dispositif fictionnel d’une redoutable efficacité. Le Roman comique se trouve ainsi éclairé d’un jour nouveau, où la physique d’Aristote et de Descartes, la circulation du théâtre au roman, l’agencement de la matière espagnole, le traitement distancié de l’héritage pétrarquiste et baroque, le passage à l’image par l’illustration, prennent sens non seulement comme moment de l’histoire littéraire française, mais comme creuset théorique de la fiction.

    Description: Dem Vergleichen wird in der Geschichtswissenschaft die Funktion einer historischen Methode zugesprochen, für den Geschichtsunterricht dient es als Methode zur Förderung historischer Kompetenzen. In den Geschichtslehrwerken der Sekundarstufe II taucht es in der Regel in Form von Aufgaben auf. Doch wie relevant sind Vergleichsaufgaben in Lehrwerken überhaupt und welche Fertigkeiten und Kompetenzen benötigen Lernende in der Sekundarstufe II zur (schriftlichen) Lösung einer historischen Vergleichsaufgabe? Diesen Fragen wird mit Hilfe einer zweiteiligen Untersuchung auf der Grundlage einer umfangreichen Frequenzanalyse von Aufgaben in Geschichtslehrwerken der Sekundarstufe II in NRW sowie einer Korpusanalyse von Lernendentexten zu einer authentischen Vergleichsaufgabe aus einem Geschichtslehrwerk nachgegangen. Die Arbeit verbindet den geschichtsdidaktischen Zugang mit dem linguistischen Ansatz der Funktionalen Pragmatik, um das Vergleichen als Handlungsmuster des Geschichtsunterrichts zu bestimmen und es im Hinblick auf seinen kommunikativen Zweck in Teilhandlungen aufzuschlüsseln. Der Zugang wird ergänzt durch den Bezug zur Schreibdidaktik, der gerade im Hinblick auf wissenschaftspropädeutisches Arbeiten in der Sekundarstufe II eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Aus den Ergebnissen der Untersuchungen wird auf der Grundlage eines Indikatorenmodells ein praxisorientierter Weg zum Umgang mit Vergleichsaufgaben im Geschichtsunterricht vorgeschlagen.

    Description: Diese literaturgeschichtliche Arbeit führt erstmals auf breiter Quellenbasis den empirischen Nachweis, dass Leser/-innen beim außerwissenschaftlichen Umgang mit Literatur in Geschichte und Gegenwart Applikationen vornehmen. Es wird gezeigt, welche Formen eine solche Applikation annehmen kann, und dass es sich um eine relevante Praktik handelt. Unter ‚Applikation‘ ist eine Tätigkeit im Rahmen des Rezeptionsprozesses zu verstehen, bei welcher Leser/-innen das Gelesene auf ihre persönlichen oder lebensweltlichen Erfahrungen, Überzeugungen und Einstellungen beziehen. Das Ergebnis dieser Bezugnahme, welches ebenfalls ‚Applikation‘ heißt, kann sein, dass sie neue Überzeugungen und Einstellungen bilden, bestehende verändern oder verwerfen. Um Existenz, Beschaffenheit und Relevanz des Phänomens zu belegen, wurde eine Fülle an Rezeptionsdokumenten ausgewertet. Sie geben Auskunft über die Erstrezeption von neun Romanen aus vier Jahrhunderten, die das literarische Korpus der Arbeit bilden, darunter Goethes Werther, Manns Buddenbrooks und Schlinks Der Vorleser. Die Arbeit beleuchtet eine wichtige, in der bisherigen rezeptionsgeschichtlichen Forschung nicht hinreichend beachtete Praktik des außerwissenschaftlichen Umgangs mit Literatur.

    Description: This research offers an integral analysis of the aesthetic thought of the director, playwright and art theorist Nikolaj Nikolaevic Evreinov. The work focuses on the analysis of the treaty The revelation of art, written in Paris in the 1930s, which represents the greatest testimony of the author's research in the aesthetic field. Henceforth, a connection is offered between the known aspects of Evreinov's theatrical thought, relating to the period of the avant-garde in Russia, and others, of a broader nature, which have long been precluded from being known. Through insights on the Russian theatrical history of the early 20th century, reflections touching textual criticism, the history of aesthetic thought and Russian criticism, the complex figure of an artist emerges against the background of the culture expressed by post-revolutionary Russian emigration. An artist who, as an intellectual, begins a dialogue with the Western European cultural tradition. This book thus intends to restore the visibility, as well as an exegetical and historiographic completeness, of Evreinov’s rich legacy as a writer, a philosopher and a critic.

    Description: L’hellénisme naît dans le sillage romantique de l’œuvre de J. J. Winckelmann dont la vision épurée de l’Antiquité continue de nourrir les fantasmes helléniques de nombreux auteurs anglais tout au long du xixe siècle. Mais dans les années 1860-1880, un tournant se fait jour dans l’hellénomanie victorienne grâce à l’émergence de sciences telles que l’archéologie et l’anthropologie. En écho à ces recherches nouvelles qui jettent un éclairage autre sur l’antique, A. C. Swinburne, W. Pater et J. A. Symonds, trois auteurs appartenant au mouvement esthétique (« Aestheticism »), se mettent en quête des parts d’ombre de l’Hellade, de son altérité et de ses couleurs, autant de marges dionysiaques qui viennent nuancer les fantasmes apolliniens de leurs contemporains. Substituant au désir d’érudition philologique une volonté d’exhumation des aspects les plus secrets de la culture grecque, ces poètes et essayistes révèlent ainsi une part trouble de l’héritage hellénique qui se donne également à voir dans les tableaux des peintres de leur cercle proche, comme E. Burne-Jones, S. Solomon, J. McNeill Whistler, A. Moore et D. G. Rossetti.

    Description: Vasyl’ Stus's (1938-1985) poetry is one of the richest and most complex chapters in the literary history of late Soviet Ukraine. His poems are not only born of the author’s talent, but also of his erudition and deep cultural awareness; Stus’s poetry eloquently shows the presence of a significant Modernist trend in the literature of the Ukrainian underground during the Age of Economic stagnation. Stus's Modernism is the ideal evolution of the Ukrainian poetic culture of the first decades of the century, and develops thanks to an intense intertextual dialogue with the European literature. Stus’s reception of Russian and German poetry, in addition to becoming the model for nineteenth-century and early-twentieth-century Ukrainian poetry, proves fundamental to fully understand his work’s literary palimpsest, which this volume offers a comprehensive reading of, from the early stages to the maturity’s collections.

    Description: The Spanish civil war is considered a key point of analysis of the first half of the 1900s because of the peculiar context in which it developed, the ideologies that provoked it and for the controversies that still accompany it. An event of this magnitude has had and continues to have a great resonance in literature; this essay compares two authors at the antipodes, which well summarize the socio-political debate that accompanies the theme: José María Gironella, author close to the regime, and Juan Benet, hermetic writer. The contrast between the motivations and objectives of the two writers is accompanied by incompatible narrative choices. With memory as both a judge and a defendant, the authors open two different paths of communication with the reader: from history to man, from man to history.

    Description: This volume contains Italian contributions to the XV Slavists’ International Congress (Minsk, 20-27 August 2013). In the wake of the best Italian Slavic tradition, the lecturers present a wide range of themes in different languages, ranging from the Cyril-Methodian question to the critical reflection on contemporary authors. Despite the diversity of disciplinary and methodological approaches - from paleography to textual analysis, from literary comparative studies to sociolinguistics - these contributions show that Italian Slavistic studies maintains their roots, critically developing previous studies and opening up new perspectives for research, while a new generation of scholars is born. As in the past, Italian studies on Slavistics are playing a significant role not only in Italy's cultural relations with the Slavic countries, but more generally on the perspective of a vast and complex process of integration of the various European cultures, which goes further beyond the borders of the European Union; a process in which the Slavic world, with its variety of languages and cultures, is one of the main actors.

    Description: Avec sa Psychologie des foules (1895), Gustave Le Bon fut considéré comme l’inventeur d’une nouvelle science de la société. Pourtant, la généalogie conceptuelle montre que Le Bon, loin d’ouvrir, referme au contraire l’époque de la pensée de la foule, en la soumettant à sa pensée de la « race ». En effet, avant Le Bon, les théoriciens italiens avaient tenu ensemble, au prix de fortes tensions théoriques, un discours déterministe sur la foule et un discours en faveur de l’émancipation des classes dominées. Il est dès lors impossible de réduire la psychologie des foules à une idéologie réactionnaire. Un autre regard s’ouvre sur cette science sociale aujourd’hui disparue.

    Description: Dieser im Open Access erscheinende Band nimmt eine bislang kaum beachtete Tendenz der Nachkriegsepik in den Blick:„Ich bin nicht Stiller!“ heißt es in Max Frischs Roman gleich zu Beginn des ersten Teils, der den Titel „Stillers Aufzeichnungen im Gefängnis“ trägt. Der das sagt, nennt sich White, wird aber von seiner Umgebung für Stiller gehalten. Stiller ist mit seinem provokanten Beginn vielleicht der markanteste unter den unzuverlässig erzählten Romanen der deutschsprachigen Nachkriegsliteratur, von denen im Band einige zwischen 1945 und den 1970er Jahren veröffentlichte vorgestellt und analysiert werden, darunter Texte von Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Hugo Loetscher, Peter Weiss, Alfred Andersch, Arno Schmidt, Uwe Johnson, Günter de Bruyn und Fred Wander; aber auch von älteren Autoren, die noch nach dem Krieg publiziert haben, wie Leo Perutz und Thomas Mann. Ein Schwerpunkt der Auswahl liegt darin, die Variabilität des Verfahrens zu zeigen und den theoretischen Randbereich des Begriffs ‚narrative Unzuverlässigkeit‘ auszuleuchten. Er erweist sich als heuristisch fruchtbares Analysetool, mit dem auch Texte gewinnbringend untersucht werden können, die nicht im strengen Sinne unzuverlässig erzählt sind.

    Description: Bilbo le Hobbit, les Chroniques de Narnia et Le Seigneur des anneaux ont habitué leurs lecteurs à rencontrer dans le livre une ou plusieurs cartes des territoires qu’ils décrivent. En allait-il de même pour les lecteurs des fictions de la première modernité, entre les XVIe et XVIIIe siècles ? L’introduction de cartes n’allait pas de soi. Leur impression augmentait le coût des ouvrages, et la capacité des mots à produire des images mentales les rendait inutiles. Néanmoins, les cartes apparurent dans les œuvres d’imagination. Initiée avec les cartes des itinérances de don Quichotte et menant jusqu’aux éditions vénitiennes d’œuvres de L’Arioste et de Pétrarque, cette enquête s’est principalement attachée à deux généalogies. La première, anglaise, donne à voir les périples d’un voyageur imaginaire présenté comme bien réel : elle conduit des Voyages de Gulliver de Jonathan Swift à L’Utopie de Thomas More. La seconde, française et allégorique, a pour origine la Carte de Tendre, insérée dans la Clélie de Mademoiselle de Scudéry, et inclut les cartes galantes ou polémiques qui l’ont imitée. Selon les époques et les lieux, les cartes des fictions ont assumé divers rôles. Elles ont représenté des mondes à l’envers, satiriques, critiques ou utopiques ; elles ont brouillé la distinction entre le monde du livre et celui du lecteur ; elles ont nourri la raison et les rêves, au-delà même de la lettre du texte. Cheminant d’œuvre en œuvre, Roger Chartier offre dans cet essai une nouvelle approche de la mobilité des fictions et de leurs interprétations.

    Description: Difficile de définir la notion de littérature migrante. Sous l’angle de la traduction, la catégorie devient pourtant plus identifiable. Les littératures migrantes ont pour principale caractéristique de produire une vaste translation culturelle d’un champ à l’autre, soit que l’écrivain ait adopté la langue du pays d’accueil et opère lui-même le processus de transfert, soit qu’il écrive encore dans sa langue d’écriture première et que ce travail appartienne au traducteur. Comment dès lors, écrivain ou traducteur, traduisent-ils à destination d’un lectorat qui les ignore ou ne les reconnaîtra pas des références culturelles, des accents ou autres distorsions phonétiques, voire des éléments relevant de codes minorisés ? Si l’écrivain allophone peut avoir recours à des pratiques translinguistiques massives dans son texte, le traducteur dispose-t-il, dans sa pratique, d’une même liberté ? Ce sont là quelques-unes des interrogations auxquelles le volume se propose de répondre.

Comprendre les mobiles qui ont incité les auteurs anglophones à emprunter des expressions françaises ou étrangères, montrer comment l’entrelacs des langues participe de l’écriture littéraire et analyser la pertinence de l’interaction des langues dans un texte, voilà les questionnements qui sous-tendent l’ensemble des textes présentés ici. Essentiellement consacré à un corpus anglophone, ce volume ouvre le champ d’investigation à des textes écrits en d’autres langues, notamment le russe et le siamois. Les réflexions engagées abordent les problématiques de la polyglossie à la fois sous l’angle théorique et critique d’une poétique du texte littéraire et sous l’angle pratique de la traduction de ces traces du multilinguisme dans un texte.

    Description: L'intertextualité avait fait l'objet en 2005-2006 de la session inaugurale du séminaire Approches Interdisciplinaires de la Lecture (AIL1). Si le concept demeure central pour appréhender le processus de création littéraire, peut-être n'est-il pas suffisant. L’arrière-texte entrevu en 2008-2009 serait-il le complément attendu et l’outil nécessaire pour penser la complexité ? Telle est la voie nouvelle explorée lors de la session 2009-2010 dans les deux domaines de la poésie et du roman. Les communications reprises dans le présent volume en restituent l’essentiel. L’arrière-texte procède, non de la théorie pure, mais de l’intuition d’écrivains nourris de deux cultures, russe et française. Il désigne tout ce qui se trouve en amont de la création littéraire, appréhendée selon ses deux versants auctorial et lectoral. On peut le concevoir comme le réseau d’associations présidant à l’effet littérature : associations verbales, sensorielles, cognitives, qui englobent et dépassent le phénomène d’intertextualité.

Literatur wird dabei nicht auf ihre Trägermedien reduziert, sondern als immaterieller Gegenstand betrachtet. Diesem Ansatz folgend untersucht Sebastian Bernhardt die didaktischen Potenziale von Ausstellungen, die Literatur mittels Szenografie in den Raum übertragen. Neben einer Systematisierung der Möglichkeiten solcher Übertragungen erschließt er die sich daraus für eine mediale Erweiterung des Literatur- und Medienunterrichts ergebenden Potenziale.     Description: This study deals with the first works by Don DeLillo, from Americana (1971) to Running Dog (1978), but it also extends its investigation horizon to his following works. The work deals specifically with the conception of time, and the way it is represented in the texts of the American author. By integrating the philosophy of time with narratology, the volume offers critical reflections aimed at identifying the type of poetics through which DeLillo articulates time in his work. In particular, the centrality of the perception of time in his novels and, more specifically, the concentration of the plots in certain moments, the oblique presence of the influence of Samuel Beckett's work in the representation of duration and the attention of the author to the double temporality of the cinematographic image and its hidden aesthetic potential are highlighted. Therefore, time becomes the conceptual context in which the textures of these texts, and the themes characterising them, find a resolution. In the representation of time, in the microscopic analysis and in the slow motion of some specific time segments, DeLillo's narrative traces the possibilities of an indefinable and mysterious perception of reality and history.
