Notes: Abstract With the use of the58Ni+50Cr fusion-evaporation reaction and chemically selective on-line mass separation, the EC/β + decay of104Sn was studied byγ-ray and conversionelectron spectroscopy. In the course of these studies, a new 15.7-s isomeric state of104In was observed. Reinvestigation of theβ-decays of the two heavier even isotopes of tin, produced in the58Ni+58Ni reaction and mass separated without chemical discrimination, brought new information on the decay of106Sn and108Sn. The QEC values of104Sn,106Sn and108Sn were determined to be 4550 −250 +300 keV, 3200±100 keV and 〈 2270 keV, respectively. In the data analysis, the emphasis is put on the identification of the 0+ → 1+ Gamow-Tellerβ transitions and determination of their strengths. For104−110Sn, the total Gamow-Teller strengths are measured to be 20% to 30% of that predicted by the single-particle shell model with the inclusion of pairing correlations and core polarization. Predictions of the decay properties of the as yet unobserved102Sn and100Sn are made.

Notes: Abstract High spin states of126Xe have been populated by means of the116Cd(13C, 3n) reaction using the OSIRIS-12 detector system. A level scheme consisting of 13 bands has been established. More than 40 new levels were observed and several spin and parity assignments could be made. Experimental Routhians and alignments of selected bands are presented.

Notes: Abstract Unique-parity states of97Y are studied in the framework of the interacting boson-fermion model (IBFM). Spin assignments for the levels of the unique-parity yrast band are proposed on the basis of nuclear systematics and the IBFM band pattern associated with coupling of a particle-type quasiparticle (g9/2) to the SU(5) core38 96Sr58. The good fit of the experimental data with the IBFM calculations confirms the single particle character of this immediate neighbour of the doubly sub-magic nucleus96Zr.

Notes: Abstract The β+ spectra of neutron-deficient nuclei with mass numbers 103 and 104 have been measured, using a semiconductor beta spectrometer. The nuclei were produced by on-line mass separation of reaction products formed by bombarding an enriched Mo target with Ne ions. Values for QEC have been deduced. The decay energies are in agreement with systematics. The decay of104In shows remarkably strong feeding to levels above 5 MeV. In addition, QEC values for103Cd,103Ag,104Ag and104mAg have been determined.

Notes: Abstract In theN=83 nucleus151Er we observed the isomericE3 transition in conversion electron measurements following on-line mass separation and located its 0.6 s 27/2− isomer at 2.586 MeV. Gamma-ray data establish a 4.7(3)% Gamow-Tellerβ-decay branch proceeding to high-spin states above 2 MeV excitation in151Ho. A weakβ-decay branch of 0.7(3)% was also observed for the 0.5 s 27/2− isomer in the149Dy isotone, and it was established that a similar 27/2− E3-isomer does not occur in153Yb. First results on the151Tm and151Er ground-stateβ-decays are briefly discussed.

Notes: Abstract The electron-capture decay of131Ba (T 1/2=11.7 d) to excited levels of131Cs has been studied using high resolution semiconductor detectors. The presence of 1046.9 keV gamma-ray in between 1170.6 and 123.8 keV levels, in addition to 1047.6 keV gamma-ray from 1047.6 keV level to ground state of131Cs is confirmed through gamma-gamma coincidence measurements. TheK-capture probabilities to 1047 keV, 696 keV and 620 keV levels are measured usingX-gamma coincidence method. The gamma-gamma directional correlation measurements of the cascades 496-123, 240-133, 486-133, 404-216, 480-216 and 832-216 keV are carried out and spins and multipolarities of the levels and transitions involved are studied.

Notes: Abstract The structure of the nucleus 39 96 Y57 is discussed in the framework of the parabolic rule for the splitting of members of proton-neutron coupled configurations and of the interacting boson-fermion-fermion model (IBFFM). A good description of the available experimental data including the existence of theβ − decaying 8+ isomer with a half-life of 10 s has been obtained which demonstrates the influence of the subshell closures in the neighbourhood of 40 96 Zr56.

Notes: Abstract The low spin structure of128Xe has been studied by means of the (α,n) reaction using beam energies near the Coulomb barrier. An extended level scheme with spins I≤10ħ and many new spin and parity assignments could be established. The results point to the completeness of the reaction at low spins and excitation energies below 2.5 MeV.

Notes: Abstract 136Pm and136Nd were studied using theβ decay of136Sm and136Pm. The radioactive nuclei were produced by the92Mo (48Ti,xpyn) and112Sn (28Si,xpyn) reactions. The UNISOR isotope separator enabled mass identification. The previously unknown level scheme of136Pm was constructed and the half-life of136Sm was determined to be 47±2 s. Six new levels and thirteen newγ-ray transitions have been added to the level scheme of136Nd.

Notes: Abstract The half-life of a 3− excited state in106Ag was measured as T1/2 (364.4 keV)=0.9±0.1 ns using the103Rh(α, n)106Ag reaction. The intramultiplet transition rate B(M1, 3−→2−) indicates that the configuration π(g9/2)0 −2π(p1/2)−1 vd5/2 can be assigned. A low-lying 3+ isomer, as known in108,110Ag, was not found in106Ag, what is explained by the raising energy of the vd3/2 shell with decreasing neutron number. For the 6− bandhead of a rotational-like structure T1/2 (765.2 keV)〈 0.2 ns was derived in contradiction to an earlier prediction (200 ns). Indirect evidence for a negative sign of the magnetic moment of105Ag (g.s.) is obtained.
