    Description: Geçmişte yaşanan iklim değişikliklerinin nedenlerinin ve etkilerinin anlaşılması, insanoğlunun gelecekte karşılaşacağı çevresel değişiklikleri önceden tahmin etmesi ve önlemler alması açısından önem arz etmektedir. İnsanın yeryüzündeki varlık süresince, yani Kuvaterner’de yaşanan iklim değişiklikleri, buzul ve buzularası çağlarının yaşanmasına yol açarak, yer küreyi ve üzerinde yaşayan canlıların hayatını şekillendirmiştir. Ülkemiz de Kuvaterner buzullaşmalarının etkisinde kalmış ve Anadolu’nun farklı bölgelerindeki yüksek alanlarda gelişen buzulların bazıları günümüze kadar ulaşmıştır. İklim değişikliği etkisiyle ortadan kalkan buzulların oluşturduğu yer şekilleri ise çoğu sahada korunmuştur. Anadolu’daki buzullaşmalar ve bunlara ait yer şekilleri araştırmacılar tarafından sıklıkla çalışılmış olmakla birlikte morfometrik analizler sınırlı sayıda araştırmada uygulanabilmiştir. Buzul morfometrisi konusunda yeni yöntem ve yaklaşımlar son buzul çağının etkilerini daha net anlaşılmamıza imkân tanımaktadır. Bu araştırma kitabı ile Batı Torosların doğu ucunda yer alan ve daha önce literatürde geçmeyen Kuvaterner buzullaşmalarının izlerinin yaygın bir şekilde gördüğümüz Kuşak Dağı’nın jeomorfolojik özelliklerini arazi çalışmaları ve İHA verileri kullanarak haritalamak, ayrıca morfometrik analizlerle Kuşak Dağı ve Batı Toroslar hakkında paleoiklimsel değerlendirmelerde bulunmak hedeflenmiştir. Yine bu kitapta buzul jeomorfolojisi konusunda yeni yöntem ve yaklaşımlar ayrıntılı açıklanmaya çalışılarak bu konularda çalışacak genç araştırmacılar için Türkçe kaynak kitabı olması amaçlanmıştır.

    Description: How the Steel Was Tempered in East Asia. Nikolai Ostrovsky’s novel How Steel Was Tempered (1932-34) tells the story of a young Ukrainian man named Pavel Korchagin who sacrifices his life and body to forge a steel-like spirit amid revolution, civil war, and postwar socialist construction. Although his physical injuries, which left him paralyzed and even blind, looks somehow grotesque, but his heroic self-sacrifice also had the power to inspire young readers. Regarded as an exemplary work of Soviet socialist realism, it was translated into many languages and read avidly at one time by left-wing readers in the West as well as in the Communist countries in the East. It was particularly influential in China, where it is so popular that even today it is invariably named as one of the favorite books of university students. This is in contrast to post-Soviet Russia today, in which the novel has lost the privileged position it once enjoyed and is no longer widely read. In China under the socialist regime, Ostrovsky’s novel was published in large numbers as suitable reading for young people and incorporated into school education. However, their active introduction in the public sphere alone does not explain their popularity. Chinese readers seem to have become deeply emotionally involved in the protagonist’s unsuccessful love affair with Tonya, a young girl whose bourgeois gestures and characterization must have been considered negative. As a result, the Soviet ideological novel has brought an unexpected meaning of European-style romantic love for Chinese readers. This presentation will trace the reception of Ostrovsky’s novel and the changes in the heroine Tonya’s image by comparing five adaptations: two Soviet films in 1942 and 1957, a Chinese lianhuanhua (serial picture book) in 1972, a Japanese manga in 1975, and a Chinese TV drama in 1999.

Для исследования выбран поуровневый метод описания. На иллюстративных примерах показывается, как креативность проявляет себя на разных уровнях организации текста: фонетико-орфографическом, словообразовательном, лексико-семантическом, грамматическом – и как уровни взаимодействуют друг с другом. На уровне же целого текста важными параметрами становятся субъектная организация и взаимодействие текста с другими текстами.

Üçüncü ve Dördüncü bölümler, bu kitabın temel çalışma konusu olan Young fonksiyonları ve Orlicz fonksiyon uzaylarına ayrılmıştır. Beşinci bölüm kitabın ana hedefini oluşturmaktadır. Burada İstanbul Üniversitesi, Matematik Bölümünde bu kitabın yazarları tarafından Orlicz uzayları üzerine yapılan bilimsel çalışmalardan ve uygulamalardan kesitler sunulmuştur.     Yetim ve Kimsesiz Çocuklar Sempozyumu Bildiriler Kitabı / Symposium on Orphans and Abandoned Children Proceedings (2024)

    Description: The word orphan, derived from the root “yütm” meaning “to be alone, to be left alone”, expresses the uniqueness of the object. Being an orphan can be understood as a child being unprotected in terms of meeting his/her basic needs and observing his/her rights. Although the duty of protection and support is traditionally attributed to the father, it would be more appropriate to understand the concept of an orphan as a child who has lost material and spiritual support that would protect him from dangers even if his parents are alive. The fact that the term orphan is used in daily language in our civilization to evoke this situation also confirms the meaning. Our Holy Qur’an emphasizes the importance of protecting the rights of certain social groups to strengthen justice and solidarity in society. In the process of building a just and peaceful world, the poor, stranded travelers, close relatives, neighbors, and the needy can be immediately listed among these groups whose rights should be respected first and foremost. Among these groups, orphans are another group that is particularly emphasized. Orphanhood is not only associated with not being wealthy. Since orphanhood is used for children who are not capable of protecting and defending their rights, it is also a concept directly related to children’s rights. Therefore, treating the phenomenon of orphanhood within child rights will significantly contribute to understanding rights and freedom. A system of thought based on the protection of all children in this situation and the institutionalization of social solidarity in light of this can initiate a process that will bring about a perspective and institutionalization that can be extended to all rights. For all these reasons, it is of great importance that the Symposium on Orphans and Abandoned Children, which deals with the phenomenon of orphanhood from a scientific point of view and brings together academics, experts, and practitioners from different disciplines related to the subject, was organized on the World Children’s Day and that the academic papers here have been published as a book.

Çocuğun yetim kalması ise aslî ihtiyaçlarının karşılanması, himaye edilmesi ve haklarının korunması bakımından sahipsiz kalması olarak anlaşılabilir. Geleneksel olarak himaye etme ve destek olma vazifesi babaya nispet edilse de, yetim kavramını bir çocuğun ebeveynleri sağ olsa da onu tehlikelerden koruyacak her türlü desteği yitirmiş olması olarak anlamak daha yerinde olacaktır. Medeniyet iklimimizde günlük dilde yetim ifadesinin bu durumu çağrıştıracak şekilde kullanılması da anlamı teyit etmektedir. Yüce kitabımız Kur’an-ı Kerim toplumda adaletin ve dayanışmanın güçlenmesi için bazı sosyal grupların haklarının gözetilmesinin önemine vurgu yapmaktadır. Adil ve barış içinde bir dünyanın inşa sürecinde hakları en başta gözetilmesi gereken bu gruplar içinde, yoksullar, yolda kalmışlar, yakın akrabalar, komşular, muhtaçlar hemen sıralanabilir. İşte bu gruplar arasında özellikle vurgulanan bir diğer grup yetimlerdir. Yetimlik sadece varsıl olmamakla ilişkilendirilemez. Yetimlik, haklarını koruyabilecek ve savunabilecek yeterlikte olmayan çocuklar için kullanıldığından doğrudan çocuk hakları ile ilgili bir kavram olarak da karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Dolayısıyla yetimlik olgusunu çocuk hakları içinde değerlendirmek, hak ve özgürlükler anlayışına da önemli katkılar yapabilecek bir yaklaşımı beraberinde getirecektir. Böyle durumda olan tüm çocukları korumayı esas alan bir düşünce sistemi ve bunun ışığında sosyal dayanışmanın kurumsal hale getirilmesi, tüm haklara teşmil edilebilecek bir bakış açısını ve kurumsallaşmayı beraberinde getirecek süreci başlatabilir. Tüm bu nedenlerle yetimlik olgusunu bilimsel bir bakış ile ele alan, konu ile ilgili farklı disiplinlerden akademisyenleri, uzmanları ve uygulayıcıları bir araya getiren Yetim ve Kimsesiz Çocuklar Sempozyumu’nun Dünya Çocuk Hakları Gününde düzenlenmiş olması ve buradaki tebliğlerin kitaplaşmış olması çok büyük önem arz etmektedir.

    Chapter Vladivostok as a Meeting Point between West and East at the Beginning of the 20th Century (Around Years of Siberian Investigation) (2024)

    Description: Vladivostok is likened to the Bosphorus. The remoteness of the Far East made it difficult for the European part of the Russian Empire to recognise Vladivostok geographically. Therefore, through analogy to the Mediterranean, it was consciously integrated into the state. On the other hand, by using kanji combinations, which evoke images of traditional Japanese poetry, the Japanese created a sense of familiarity with Vladivostok. In most cases, regarding the social situation during the Revolutionary and Intervention War periods, researchers’ interest was restricted to the scheme of the conflict between the Red Army and the White Army and the victory or defeat of the October Revolution. However, more than 30 years after the dissolution of the USSR, the events of this period are now being examined by scholars mainly from the perspective of the residents and outsiders in various regions who, without knowing the consequences of the revolution, were both anticipating and anxious about significant social changes. The multicultural nature of the Far East is being discussed on the occasion of the centenary of the Siberian exodus. This article examines the cultural situation in and around Vladivostok, focusing on developments such as the education system and modernist currents in the arts. Vladivostok served as both an entrance to Siberia for the Japanese or other foreign troops and an exit for emigres.

    Description: Reception of Russian Literature of the Silver Age in China. In the late 20th century, there emerged a significant cultural fervor for the Russian literature of the Silver Age within Chinese academic circles, primarily focused on literary studies. This article examines the history of translating Russian literature of the Silver Age in China and its level of research development. It is revealed that, on one hand, the initial attempts at translating literary works of the Silver Age into Chinese began in the first half of the 20th century, with notable activity during the May Fourth Movement and towards the end of the 20th century. Consequently, works by well-known writers had more opportunities to be translated into Chinese and gain attention from the academic community, while many works by lesser-known authors remained overlooked. On the other hand, Chinese scholars’ research on Russian literature of the Silver Age encompasses various literary genres such as poetry, novels, and dramas, with a focus on individual writers and their works. However, comprehensive and systematic studies in this field are still lacking. The examination of the history of translation and the level of research on Russian literature of the Silver Age in China contributes to academic progress, facilitates exchange and collaboration among scholars, provides reference materials and recommendations, and establishes a foundation for further in-depth research.

Fakültemizin bu anlamlı yılda her biri kendi alanında birbirinden değerli yazıların yer aldığı bu esere imza atması hepimiz için büyük bir gurur ve memnuniyet vesilesi olmuştur. Kitapta Cumhuriyetimizin ilk yüz yılında Türkiye Ekonomisi; mali, siyasi, hukuki, sosyolojik ve davranış bilimleriyle ilişkisi ve etkileşimi çerçevesinde ele alınmış ve böylece bu döneme global bir perspektiften yaklaşılması amaçlanmıştır. Kitap projesinin Cumhuriyet Dönemiyle sınırlı tutulması, ilk yüzyılın tamamlanarak ikinci yüzyıla geçilmekte olmasının törensel bir sonucudur. Gayet tabiidir ki; kitapta incelenen hususların büyük bir kısmının Cumhuriyet öncesinde Osmanlı Dönemine uzanan kökleri, öncülleri bulunmaktadır. Moreover, this epidemic has affected not only one country but also all countries of the world at the same time and with a similar intensity. Almost the health systems of the countries were tested with a test consisting of the same questions. During the pandemic, many unknown equations were intertwined. We had so many unknowns at the beginning of the epidemic. We did not yet clearly know how we approached patients, how to treat them, and what drugs should be given. Over the past two years, much research and many experiences have taught us how to behave against the disease. During the pandemic, we learned by experience how damaging information pollution can be. The epidemic also showed us the vaccine wars. We have seen how valuable the vaccines we use to get rid of the epidemic are, how developed countries have entered vaccine wars, and the change in the dynamics of the epidemic with vaccination. The years 2020-2022 will be defined as the epidemic years. During this epidemic, we saw that it was precious for physicians to get the correct information. This source has been tried to be created thanks to the fact that it has written down the experiences gained by experiencing this epidemic in person. Üstelik bu öyle bir salgın ki sadece bir ülkede değil, bütün dünya ülkelerinde aynı zamanda ve benzer yoğunlukta etkilendi. Adeta ülkelerin sağlık sistemleri aynı sorulardan oluşan bir sınavla sınandı. Salgın sırasında birçok bilinmeyen denklem iç içe idi. Salgın başında o kadar çok bilinmeyenimiz vardı ki. Hastalara nasıl yaklaştığımızı, nasıl tedavi vereceğimizi ve hangi ilaçların verilmesi gerektiğini henüz net bir şekilde bilmiyorduk. Geçen iki yıl zarfında birçok araştırma ve birçok deneyim bizim hastalığa karşı nasıl davranmamız gerektiğini öğretti. Salgın sırasında bilgi kirliliğinin ne kadar zarar verebilir olduğunu yaşayarak öğrendik. Salgın bize birde aşı savaşlarını gösterdi. Salgından kurtulmak için kullandığımız aşıların ne kadar değerli olduğunu, gelişmiş ülkelerin nasıl aşı savaşlarına girdiğini aşılama ile beraber salgın dinamiklerindeki değişimi gördük. 2020-2022 yılları salgın yılları olarak tanımlanacaktır. Bu salgın sırasında hekimlerin doğru bilgilerin ulaşmasının çok değerli olduğunu gördük. Elinizdeki bu kaynak salgını bizzat yaşayarak elde edilen tecrübelerini yazıya dökmesi sayesinde oluşturulmaya çalışılmıştır. Kitabın oluşturulmasındaki emeği olan tüm arkadaşlarımıza içten teşekkürlerimizi arz ediyoruz. Bu kitabın okuyuculara fayda getirmesini diliyoruz. Bu kitabı, canı pahasına COVID-19 ile savaşan ve hayatını kaybeden tüm sağlık çalışanlarına armağan ediyoruz.

    Description: Turkic World studies seem to be a topic that attracts scientific attention day by day. The continuous increase in cooperation, rapprochement, and mobility between Turkish-speaking countries and communities since 1991 might be shown as the main dynamic behind this interest. The richness of the Turkic Republics in terms of natural resources, their location on the energy and transportation corridors, the change of the balances in the Caucasus with the Second Karabakh War in 2020, and the transition of the Turkic Council from a cooperation organization to an interstate organization in 2021 under the name of the "Organization of Turkic States" also accelerate the work of the Turkic World. In the meantime, the popularization of some geopolitical determinations and predictions in the context of scientific interest in the region can be shown as an important factor. Similar to the rise of Europe in the industrial age, we can talk about the rise of Asia in the information age. The sources of political and economic power are shifting to Asian geopolitics and this process continues to strengthen. Such analyses and predictions, which bring to the agenda that in the 2050s, Asia will regain its former central position also encourage academic interest in Central Asia. This book is the product of the goal of creating an original work for the Turkish World with gap-filling parameters and process analyses determined by a meticulous preliminary study in the light of the mentioned background. In this direction, three basic perspectives such as the effort to determine the capacities of the countries with comparative analyses, to look at the Turkish World from the perspective of problems, and to embody the Turkish World based on the community, autonomous region, and country sections dominate the work. With comparative analyses, it has been tried to embody the capacities of the countries within the parameters such as sustainable development potential, transportation systems, scientific performance, evolution in the political system, education system, and values of education. On the other hand, the crises affecting the Turkic World were discussed with the analysis of Karabakh, which is the main crisis, and the Russia-Ukraine War, which is the current crisis. On the other hand, the analysis of the thirty-year process in the Turkish World, starting from the scales of the community, autonomous region, and country, was carried out through the examples of Georgia, Tatarstan, and Uzbekistan.

Asya’nın 2050’li yıllarda eski merkezi konumuna tekrar ulaşacağını gündeme taşıyan bu tarz analiz ve öngörüler Orta Asya’ya yönelik akademik ilgiyi de teşvik edici niteliktedir. Bu kitap bahsedilen arka planın ışığı altında, titiz bir ön çalışmayla belirlenen boşluk doldurucu parametreler ve süreç analizleriyle Türk Dünyasına yönelik özgün bir eser oluşturma hedefinin ürünüdür. Bu doğrultuda; karşılaştırmalı analizlerle ülke kapasitelerini belirleme çabası, Türk Dünyasına sorunlar penceresinden bakma ve yine Türk Dünyasını topluluk, özerk bölge ve ülke kesitlerinden hareketle somutlaştırma gibi üç temel bakış açısı esere hâkimdir.     Description: Yaşlanma, hayatın kaçınılmaz ve ertelenemez bir parçasıdır. Yaşlanma ile birlikte hücrelerimizde ve organlarımızda fonksiyonel ve yapısal önemli değişiklikler olmaktadır. Dünyada 20.Yüzyılın başında başlayan hızlı nüfus artışı ile birlikte yaşam şartlarında düzelme ve tedavi seçeneklerinin artması yaşlı nüfus sayısının da artmasına neden olmuştur. 2030 yılında, dünya üzerinde her altı kişiden birinin 60 yaş üzerinde olacağı öngörülmüştür. 80 yaş üzerindeki bireylerin ise 426 milyon olması beklenmektedir. Bu artış nedeniyle tek başına “yaşlı” kavramı yeterli olmamış, genç yaşlılık (65-74 yaş), orta yaşlılık (75-84 yaş) ileri yaşlılık (〉85 yaş) kavramlarının kullanılması gerektiği öne sürülmüştür. Bir ülkenin yaşlı nüfusunun toplam nüfusa oranı %8-10 arasında olması ülkenin ‘’yaşlı’’, %10 üzerinde olması ‘’çok yaşlı’’ olduğu anlamına gelmektedir. Ülkemizde bu oranın 2050 yılından %20.8 olması beklenmektedir. 2030 yılında ise ortalama yaşam süresi 74-79 yıl olacaktır. Yaşlanmanın toplumlarda artışı bazı sağlık sorunlarının daha sık görülmesine neden olmaktadır. Buna paralel olarak 65 yaş üzerindeki bireylerin dahili hastalıkları, psikososyal yaşamları ve beraberinde koruyucu sağlık hizmetleri ile ilgilenen geriatri bilim dalı giderek artan bir öneme sahip olmaktadır. Yaşlanma, diğer organ sistemlerinde olduğu gibi böbreklerde de moleküler, fonksiyonel ve yapısal değişikliklere neden olmaktadır. Yaşlanmaya yanıt olarak böbreklerde hemodinamik ve fizyolojik önemli değişiklikler ortaya çıkar. İyileşme süresi uzar, hasarlanmaya dayanma yeteneği azalır. Ayrıca yaşla birlikte artan ve böbrek hastalıklarının en önemli nedenlerinden olan hipertansiyon ve diyabet gibi hastalıklarda akut ve kronik böbrek hastalığının yaşlılarda daha sık görülmesine neden olur. Yaşlılarda, böbrek hastalığının yanı sıra çoklu hastalıkların birlikte olması, polifarmasi ihtiyacı, ilaç metabolizmasının karaciğer fonksiyonlarındaki değişiklikler gibi çeşitli nedenlerle farklılaşması nefrologların ya da böbrek hastalıklarının tedavisi ile uğraşan hekimlerin günlük pratiklerinde göz önünde bulundurmaları gereken kavramlardır. Ne yazık ki geriatrik nefroloji kavramı, nefroloji ve İç hastalıkları eğitimi içinde yeterli öneme kavuşamamıştır. Ülkemizde ve dünya da geriatrik nefroloji alanında az sayıda bilimsel çalışma mevcuttur. Konuyla ilgili başvuru kitabı ise hemen hemen hiç yoktur. Bu alandaki boşluğu kısmen de olsa doldurmayı amaçlayan bu kitap nefroloji ve geriatri bilim dallarında çalışan bilim insanlarının katkıları ve özverileriyle oluşmuştur.

    Description: With the onset of integration of web technologies into our lives, a global transformation process has been triggered and traditional approaches have tended to evolve into digital organisms as a past aspect of the millennium line. The one-way information transfer process, which was activated with the Web 1.0 era, took root on the basis of content sharing and 'collaboration' with Web 2.0, and was characterized in a 'smart' and 'individualized' form with the Web 3.0, and eventually ended up searching for an artificial intelligence-oriented direction. The developments in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing algorithms, on the other hand, were crowned with the Web 4.0 technology, and the artificial intelligence-based virtual reality atmospheres became the center of attention as the new phenomenon of digital. As far as the relevant perspective is concerned, it is possible to say that today's modernization standards are shaped within the framework of technology. While the parameters of the 'new generation world' are built on the digital plane, the 'new generation of people' generations develop specifically in the skills of this plane.

    Description: Web teknolojilerinin hayatımıza entegre olmaya başlamasıyla küresel çaplı bir dönüşüm süreci tetiklenmiş ve geleneksel yaklaşımlar, milenyum çizgisinin geçmişte kalan yönü olarak dijital organizmalara evrilme trendinde bir yönelim içerisine girmişlerdir. Web 1.0 dönemi ile aktif hale gelen tek yönlü bilgi aktarımı süreci, Web 2.0 ile içerik paylaşımı’ ve ‘iş birliği’ yapabilme temelinde kök salmış; Web 3.0 ile ‘akıllı’ ve ‘bireyselleştirilmiş’ bir formda karakterize edilerek yapay zeka eksenli bir yön bulma arayışı içerisine girmiştir. Makine öğrenmesi, derin öğrenme ve doğal dil işleme algoritmalarındaki gelişmeler ise Web 4.0 teknolojisiyle taçlanmış ve yapay zeka tabanlı sanal gerçeklik atmosferleri, dijitalin yeni fenomeni olarak ilgi odağı haline gelmiştir. İlgili perspektiften hareketle; günümüz modernizasyon standartlarının teknoloji çerçevesinde şekil aldığını söyleyebiliriz. ‘Yeni nesil dünya’ parametreleri, dijital düzlem üzerine inşa edilirken ‘yeni nesil insan’ jenerasyonları ise bu düzlem becerileri özelinde gelişim göstermektedir. Covid 19 sonrası yaşanan süreçle birlikte bilginin, dijitalde yapılandığı ivme hız kazanmış ve teknoloji tabanlı pedagojik paradigmalar ön plana çıkmaya başlamıştır. Bu paradigmaların öğrenme ortamlarına yansımasıyla geleneksel sınıf atmosferleri algısında radikal değişikliklerin meydana geldiğini söylemek mümkündür. Dijital eğitim uygulamaları, yüz yüze eğitim metodunun bir alternatifi olmanın ötesinde pedagojinin başat unsuru olma yönünde hızla gelişim gösterirken öğretmen ve öğrenci arasındaki etkileşim süreci, çevrim içi merkezli öğretim tasarımları merceğinde desenlenme dönüşümü göstermektedir. Dil eğitimi sahası da ilgili entegrasyondan etkilenmekte ve yeni nesil dil becerileri, dijital yeterlikler ekseninde evrim geçirme haliyle karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Dolayısıyla yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretimi olgusu, yabancı dil olarak dijital Türkçe öğretimi çerçevesinde kavramsallaşmakta; bir başka deyişle teknoloji tabanlı beceriler odaklı örnek dil tanımlayıcılarıyla (illustrative descriptors) betimlenme eğilimi sergilemektedir. İlgili önem durumu, bu çalışmanın biçimlenmesine zemin hazırlamış ve Yabancı Dil Olarak Dijital Türkçe Öğretimi kitabı, teknolojik adaptasyonun getirdiği bir ihtiyacı karşılama güdüsüyle ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu bağlamdan hareketle çalışmanın ortaya çıkış amacının; sanal ortamlarda web araçlarıyla uygulanacak yabancı dil öğretimine ilişkin dijital bir farkındalık kazandırmak amaçlanmıştır. Yabancı Dil Olarak Dijital Türkçe Öğretimi; ‘Dijital Öğrenme ve Yabancı Dil Öğretimine İlişkin Teorik Çerçeve’, ‘Dijital Beceri Alanlarına İlişkin Web Tabanlı Uygulama Araçları, ‘Dijital Öğrenme Ortamı Yapılandırmaya İlişkin Web Tabanlı Uygulama Araçları’, ‘Dijital Öğretim Materyallerine İlişkin Web Tabanlı Uygulama Araçları’, ‘Dijital Ölçme ve Değerlendirme Etkinliklerine İlişkin Web Tabanlı Uygulama Araçları’ ve ‘Dijital Öğretim ‘Yaklaşımlarına İlişkin Yenilikçi Uygulamalar’ olmak üzere altı alt başlık temelinde yapılandırılmış 22 bölümden meydana gelmektedir. Araştırma kapsamında tanıtılan dijital uygulama araçlarının, her bölüm içeriğinin kendi temasına uygun olacak şekilde uygulama örnekleri ve etkinlikler üzerinden somutlaştırılması esas alınmıştır. Dolayısıyla çalışma sınırları çerçevesinde tanıtılan aynı dijital araçların, farklı bölüm metinlerinde farklı işlevlerine yönelik çeşitli özelliklerinin zengin örneklendirmeler aracılığıyla ön plana çıkartılmasına dikkat edilmiştir. İlgili düzlemde çalışmadan yararlanacak olan araştırmacı, eğitmen ve eğitmen adaylarına; dijital teknoloji araçlarının yabancı dil öğretiminde kullanımına ilişkin geniş bir perspektif sunmak temel ilke edinilmiştir. Çalışmada yer alan bölüm içeriklerinin belirli bir kompozisyon ve tutarlılık dahilinde sunulması adına farklı bölümlerde yer alan aynı dijital araçların birbirinden farkı işlev ve detaylı açıklamalarına ilişkin dipnotlar aracılığıyla köprüler oluşturularak bölümler arası bütünlük oluşturulması amaçlanmıştır. Yabancı Dil Olarak Dijital Türkçe Öğretimi kitabında yer verilen her bölüm içeriği, alan uzmanlarının görüşüne başvurularak literatüre katkı sağlayacak şekilde tasarlanması prensibiyle oluşturulmuştur. Bölüm içeriklerinde verilen teorik ve kuramsal çerçeveler, farklı literatür çalışmalarıyla desteklenmiş bilimsel alt yapıya dayalı bir zeminde aktarılması hedeflenmiştir. Dijital araçların sunumu sırasında yapılandırılan etkinlik örneklerinin, CEFR ile uyumlu olması ölçüt alınmış ve otantik bağlamlar üzerinden gerçekçi öğrenme atmosferleri kurgulanarak eğitmen ve eğitmen adaylarının eğitim ortamlarında rahatlıkla uygulayabileceği düzeyde olması temel alınmıştır.

    Description: Korehito Kurahara and “Proletarian Realism”: Proletarian Literature in Japan in 1920s. This paper examines the proletarian literature movement that emerged in Japan in the 1920s, focusing on Korehito Kurahara, a leading proponent. Kurahara studied Russian literature and his theory, “proletarian realism,” was based on concepts promoted by the Russian Association of Proletarian Writers (RAPP). The paper analyzes two of Kurahara’s works from which proletarian realism originated. Both works are based on arguments between leaders of the proletarian writers’ organization and A. Volonsky. After Kurahara, Japan attempted to interpret proletarian literature from the perspective of literary history, which Kurahara incorporated into Japanese literature based on RAPP discussions. This suggests that Japanese proletarian literary theory developed under the influence of the Soviet Union.

Makarenko’s Pedagogical Poem in the Stalin era was perceived as a eulogy to the collective, while in late Soviet times the dominance of the collective and the tendency to violent solutions already irritated the Russian reader. The German historian Goetz Hillig saw Makarenko as a world pedagogical genius, created his scientific biography, and published a scholarly edition of his writings in German. Elena Tolstaya looks at The Poem, set in post-revolutionary Ukraine, in the aspect of Russian-Ukrainian bilingualism, and looks for possible responses to the actualities of the late 20s – early 30s.

    Description: The Ukrainian Theme in the Legacy of Vladimir (Ze’ev) Jabotinsky. Vladimir (Ze’ev) Jabotinsky (1880-1940) combined the characteristics of a convinced individualist, a nationalist-statist, and an equally convinced liberal with a tendency toward anarchism. He respected every people’s struggle for independence and called nationalism “the individualism of nations”. In his prose, essays and journalism, Jabotinsky was able to synthesize rational analysis with fearless intuition. This combination enabled him to predict both World Wars I and II and the Holocaust, long before Hitler invaded Poland. As a young man he lived for several years in Italy, which he considered his spiritual homeland. His views were formed, on the one hand, under the influence of Italian socialists, Garibaldi and Italian culture in general, and, on the other hand, under the influence of Ukrainian socialists, champions of independence. He maintained friendly contacts with some of them because he combined his Zionism with Ukrainianophilia, which survived despite the monstrous Jewish pogroms organized by the Petlyura troops in 1919-20. A special theme touched upon in the report is the supposed echoes of Ukrainian spontaneous individualism in Jabotinsky’s anarchist tendencies.

    Description: The Mamluks (648-923/1250-1517), who ruled Egypt, Syria, and the Hijaz region, are considered to be one of the most important Muslim-Turkish states in Islamic history because they put an end to the Crusader threat in Syria and stopped the westward advance of the Mongols (Ilkhanids) who had destroyed the eastern part of the Islamic world. The Mamluks’ establishment of security and stability in their lands enabled the ulama, who were affected by the political turmoil in Andalusia and Anatolia, as well as central Iraq and Iran in the early 7th/13th century, to turn to the Egyptian-Sham region. In addition to the political stability they created, the Mamluks built many scientific institutions in cities such as Cairo, Damascus, Aleppo, and Jerusalem. They provided wide opportunities to scholars, making these cities the most important centers of knowledge. The rich scholarly environment in Egypt and Damascus, which attracted many scholars from various parts of the Islamic world, paved the way for the writing of many works in almost every field of Islamic sciences and the emergence of new and voluminous encyclopedic genres. Thus, an enormous amount of literature was created in fiqh, hadith, tafsīr, kalām, mysticism, philosophy, logic, qirāʾa, sīra, history, and tabāqat. The understanding and interpretation of this literature, which is the result of an unprecedented scholarly effort in Islamic history, requires the contribution of many researchers in different fields. As a result of this need, interest in the scholarly and cultural accumulation of the Mamluk period is increasing both in international academic circles and in our country. Although the number and quality of studies on the political history of the Mamluks are not yet at the desired level, some studies have been conducted in the Turkish literature. However, research on the ulama, scientific institutions, types of works, and the status of Islamic sciences during the Mamluk period is still in its infancy. To overcome this deficiency to some extent, the Institute of Islamic Studies at Istanbul University (then known as the Center for Islamic Studies at Istanbul University) organized a workshop titled Islamic Sciences in the Mamluk Period on 19-20 September 2019. Thus, it was aimed to evaluate the status of the studies on the ulama and Islamic sciences related to the Mamluk period, to propose new research topics in the areas of need, to ensure cooperation among those interested in this field, and to create a basis for future studies. At the end of this workshop, the need to organize an international meeting with wide participation in the scholarly tradition in the Mamluk period was expressed. For this purpose, an international symposium titled The Tradition of Knowledge in the Mamluk Period-I (13th and 14th Centuries) was organized on September 28-29, 2021, hosted by Istanbul University in cooperation with the Institute of Islamic Studies at Istanbul University and the Foundation for Research in Islamic Sciences (ISAV). In the symposium, many researchers made presentations on tafsīr, hadith, fiqh, historiography, philosophy, kalām, mysticism, culture-literature, ulama, and scientific institutions. This book was formed by revising some of the papers presented at the symposium during the publication phase. The full text of the relevant papers has been reviewed and turned into articles. The thematically re-planned book consists of seven chapters: Qurʾānic Sciences and Tafsīr, Fiqh Thought and Literature, Hanafi Fiqh and Hadith Studies, Kalām, History and Sīra Writing, Language and Literature, Scientific Institutions and Ulama. We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak, Rector of Istanbul University, and Prof. Dr. Salih Tuğ, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of ISAV, for their support during the organization of the symposium.

Böylece fıkıh, hadis, tefsir, kelâm, tasavvuf, felsefe, mantık, kıraat, siyer, tarih ve tabakat ilimlerinde muazzam bir literatür oluşmuştur. İslâm tarihinde eşine az rastlanan bir ilmî mesainin sonucu olarak ortaya konan bu literatürün anlaşılması ve yorumlanması farklı alanlarda pek çok araştırmacının katkısına ihtiyaç duymaktadır.     Description: Moscow at the turn of history. About the “toponymic upheaval” and not only. The article digs into the urban (and political) geography of Moscow and how this is perceived in Italy in the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union. In particular, the investigation will focus on a number of volumes related to the late Soviet era that were published in Italy between the late 1980s and the mid-1990s. The authors are mainly newspaper and TV correspondents: Vittorio Zucconi (1944-2019, Il Corriere della sera, Si fa presto a dire Russia); Demetrio Volcic (1931-2021, RAI, Mosca. I giorni della fine); Enrico Franceschini (1956, La Repubblica) who is both a journalist (La fine dell'impero. Ultimo viaggio in URSS) and a novelist (La donna della Piazza Rossa). However, the texts index also includes a politician, Giulio Andreotti (L’URSS vista da vicino. Dalla guerra fredda a Gorbaciov), and a comic character, Mickey Mouse, who, in an October 1988 issue number, shows how in the years of perestroika people looked at the nascent (dying) country with both fear and curiosity. All the authors, regardless of their profession and orientation, have the feeling that they are also witnessing history through urban geography; it is no coincidence that all the texts analyzed, to varying extents, “photograph” buildings, streets, monuments... that is to say , “places,” which may be “old,” i.e. inherited from previous travelers or the result of historical, political or literary reminiscences, or “new” places, where a new path of history is being written.

Sağlıklı bir üretimin ilk şartı kaliteli hammaddedir. Güvenli ve kaliteli ürün elde edilebilmesi için de ham (taze üründen) materyalden işlenmiş ürüne kadar, etkili gıda güvenliği ve kalite kontrol uygulamaları zorunluluk arz etmektedir. Kalite ile ilgili olarak belirlenen hedeflere ve standartlara ulaşmak için uygulanan teknikler ve yapılan faaliyetleri içeren kalite kontrol ve işletmelerin devamlılıkları açısından dikkat etmeleri gereken en önemli konulardan birisidir. Kalite tüketici açısından ise, beklentileri karşılama düzeyi, alınan ürünün ilgili standartlara ve yönetmeliklere uygunluğudur. Su ürünlerinde kalite kontrol; tüketici gıda güvenliği ve standartlara uyumluluk yönünden durumunun belirlendiği duyusal, fiziksel, kimyasal ve mikrobiyolojik analizlerin bütünlüğü ile oluşmaktadır. Su ürünlerinde uygulanacak olan gıda güvenliği ve kalite kontrol ile uygulamaları balıkçılık/hasat süreciyle başlayıp, nakliye, satış, depolama, işleme prosesleri ve son tüketiciye ulaşıncaya kadar ki tüm aşamaları kapsamaktadır. Bu süreç/kurallar pek çok kişi ve kuruluşu ilgilendirdiğinden, “Su Ürünlerinde Gıda Güvenliği ve Kalite Kontrol” konusunu kapsamlı olarak anlatan bir kaynağa ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Bu anlamda kitabın yazılmasındaki amaç • Su ürünlerinin gıda güvenliği konusunda tüketici ve üreticideki anlam kargaşasını gidermek, bilimsel olarak tüketici yaklaşımlı ilişkilendirmeleri oluşturmak, • Temel gıda güvenliği ve kalite kontrol bilgilerini aktarmak, • Kalite ve kontrol yöntemleri hakkında bilinmesi gerekenler ile birlikte bunların sanayide ve işletmelerde uygulama alanı bulmasını sağlamak, • Su ürünlerinde karşılaşılan kalite ve gıda güvenliği problemlerinin ortaya konması ve bunlara yönelik çözüm önerileri sunmak olmuştur.

    Description: İstanbul Üniversitesi Yayınları’nın çağrısı üzerine hazırladığımız ve Cumhuriyetin 100.yılına armağan etmek istediğimiz bu küçük çalışmamızı hatırat, anılar ve bu alandaki yazınla ilgilenen meslektaşlarımızın ve meraklı okurların ilgisine sunuyoruz. Toplumsal hafıza ve hafızanın üretimi, siyaseti üzerine düşünürken geç Osmanlı ve Cumhuriyet dönemi anılarını uzun zamandır okuyor ve bu konu üzerinde çalışıyorduk. Bu kapsamda çeşitli alanlara yayılmış anıları inceledik: erkekler ve kadınlar tarafından kaleme alınmış, farklı toplumsal grupların deneyimlerini yansıtan anıların yanı sıra tematik olarak da İstanbul, belirli siyasal olaylar ve meslek gruplarının anılarını eleştirel bir gözle okuduk, tartıştık. Toplumsal hiyerarşinin en üstünde yer alan kişilerin, devlet adamı, asker, diplomat, siyasetçi ve edebiyatçı anılarının yanı sıra farklı toplumsal sınıflara mensup insanların anılarını okurken farklı din, dil ve etnik gruplardan kişilerin kendilerini nasıl ifade ettiğini izlemeye çalıştık. Bu küçük çalışmamızda öncelikle hatırat/anı türünü, yaşam öyküsü anlatılarını tarihsel geçmiş, erken ve modern örnekler, batı ve batı dışı ülkelerdeki ilgili yazın ışığında gözden geçirdik. Cumhuriyet Türkiye’sini, dönemler, gelişmeler ve sorunlarını, öne çıkan temaları, tartışma ve modaları, değişen mekânı geç Osmanlı döneminden başlayarak anılar yardımıyla bir kez daha okuyabileceğimizi hatırlatmak istedik. Geç Osmanlı dönemi derken 1908 ve sonrasını esas almak, Büyük Savaş ve Cumhuriyetin kuruluşunu, İstanbul, İzmir ve Ankara’da yaşayan ve anıları yayınlanmış aydınlar, sanatçı ve siyasetçiler, gazeteciler, anılarını kaleme almış sıradan insanların gözünden izlemek bize önemli ve öğretici geliyor. Bu insanların kişisel ve grupsal anlatıları, aile deneyimleri bize tarihi daha insani, daha içeriden, yaşayanların tecrübesiyle ete kemiğe büründürüyor, daha anlaşılır kılıyor. Bunu en iyi yapabileceğimiz aracın kişilerin yaşam öyküsü anlatıları ve anıları olduğunu düşünüyoruz. Anılarını yazanların aile öykülerinden başlayarak geçmişlerini nasıl ele aldıkları, dönemleri ve deneyimlerini nasıl değerlendirdikleri, yorumladıkları tarih ve siyaset açısından kıymeti çoğu kez bilinmeyen bir önem ve değer taşıyor. Elbette anıları bir tarihsel belge olarak kullanmak, gerçekliğe referans olarak bakmak çeşitli sorunlar taşıyor. Bilimsel tarih çalışmaları ile hafıza, anılar ve anlatılar arasında gidip gelen, edebi türlere yakın duran, bireysel, düşünsel farklılıklar, kırılmalar, tercihler ve yorum farklılıkları içeren bir tür, yaşam öyküsü anlatıları. Çalışmamızın amaçları arasında tarih yazımı ile bu türden kişisel anlatıların, hayat öyküleri ve anıların niteliği üzerine düşünmek ve çalışmak da yer aldı. Bu anlamda yöntem üzerine de düşündük ve bu konuya da çalışmamızda değindik. Tüm eksiklikleri, görüş ve deneyim farklılıkları ve yazılış amaçlarına bağlı olarak kırılmış merceklerden bakış açılarına karşın anıların ülkemizin yakın tarihine, Cumhuriyet tarihine ışık tutacak nitelikte ve canlılıkta olduklarını düşüncesiyle tarihi bir de yaşayanların gözünden, onlar açısından, gerçek insanların deneyimleri ışığında düşünmek ve tartışmakta yarar olduğunu iddia ediyoruz. Çalışmamızın özgün yanlarından en önemlisi bu konuda bir bibliyografya hazırlamış olmamız. Bibliyografya çalışmasının bu alanda araştırma yapan meslektaşlarımıza, öğrencilerimize, anı okurlarına, konuyla ilgili herkese yararlı olmasını umuyoruz.

    Description: Göl, akarsu ve denizler yüzyılları aşan süreden beri çoğunluğu insan kaynaklı olmak üzere çeşitli kirleticilerin baskısı altında bulunmaktadırlar. Özellikle endüstriyel üretimin hız kazandığı 1900’lü yılların ortalarından itibaren bu baskılar daha da artmış birçok su kaynağı kullanılamaz hale gelmiştir. Su kalitesindeki bozulmalar ve iklimsel değişim nedeniyle çok sayıda tür ortadan kalkmış, ya da tükenme noktasına gelmiştir. Ülkemizde de benzer çevresel sorunlar 1950’li yıllardan itibaren görülmeye başlanmıştır. Başta sanayi üretiminin büyük bir kısmının gerçekleştiği Marmara Bölgesindeki deniz ve içsu kaynakları olmak üzere birçok su kaynağı sanayi atıkları, evsel atıklar ve tarımsal kirleticiler ile baş başa bırakılmıştır. Söz konusu kirleticiler nedeniyle en büyük su kalitesi kaybına uğrayan alanların başında ise Marmara Denizi gelmektedir. Marmara Denizi havzası başta ülkemizin en büyük şehri olan İstanbul olmak üzere en büyük şehirlerini barındıran bir iç deniz konumundadır. Göreceli olarak küçük bir alan olmasına rağmen havzada ülke nüfusunun yaklaşık 1/3’ü yaşamaktadır. Havzadaki aşırı nüfus artışı ve kontrolsüz yapılaşma özellikle Marmara Denizi üzerinde büyük bir baskı oluşturmuştur. Uzun yıllar süresince arıtılmadan ya da sadece ön arıtıma tabi tutularak Marmara Denizine verilen atıklar denizin taşıma kapasitesini aşmış, bu nedenle denizde yaşayan birçok canlı türü tamamen ortadan kaybolmuştur. Hatta aşırı kirlenme nedeniyle Marmara Denizi’nin “Doğu Körfez” bölümü uzun yılardan beri balıkçılığa kapatılmıştır. Son zamanlarda Marmara Denizinde ortaya çıkan en önemli ekolojik sorunlardan bir tanesi de yaklaşık 6 ay süren müsilaj artışıdır. Müsilaj Ocak 2021 de başlayıp Haziran 2021’e kadar devam etmiştir. Müsilaj artışının 6 ay gibi uzun bir süre devam etmesi, büyük bir alanda habitat kayıpları yaratması, ekolojik tahribat kadar ekonomik kayıplara neden olması, balıkçılık dahil birçok ekosistem hizmetlerini etkilemesi nedeniyle dünya literatürüne girmiştir. İstanbul Üniversitesi olarak böylesine önemli ekolojik sorunu detaylı bir şekilde araştırmak, sonuçlarını ortaya koymanın gerekliliğine inanarak sadece Marmara Denizi’nde ortaya çıkan müsilaj sorunu ile ilgili çalışmaların yer aldığı 13 bölümden oluşan kitap yayınlamaya karar verdik. Deniz araştırmaları konusunda yaklaşık 80 yıllık deneyime sahip İstanbul Üniversitesinin yayınladığı bu eserin deniz bilimcilere ve karar vericilere başucu kaynağı olmasını diliyoruz.

    Description: Paradoxality as a Specific Feature of Dostoevsky’s Literary Works. Techniques, Stylistics, Mechanisms of Action. All works by Dostoevsky reveal the presence of paradox. These paradoxes act according to mechanisms that depend either on the fictional (polyphonic) or nonfictional (monologic) text “dominant.” Taking as a starting point (a) the arguments of G.S. Morson, according to whom paradoxes “seem to carry the quintessence of ‘Dostoevskyism’, particularly of his brand of humor,” (b) the analysis of Dostoevsky’s paradoxical humor; and (c) the three main categories of paradoxes (“empty or rhetorical”, “negative”, “positive”), we argue that Dostoevsky applies a fourth type of paradox, one that affects neither the premise nor the ending of the paradoxical structure, but their intrinsic logical interconnection. This article analyses a repertoire of paradoxical techniques used by Dostoevsky, focusing on the destabilizing humoristic function they enact.

    Description: Humor and Irony as a Means of Combating Atheism in the Discourse of F.M. Dostoevsky . The question of the God’s existence troubled Dostoevsky throughout his life. He created a very convincing portrait of the atheist of his time. He did not consider unbelievers immoral, but only “infected with recklessness”, and when speaking of his atheist acquaintances, often admitted that they were good people. Dostoevsky created the image of an atheist as an intelligent person, who is guided not by the heart, but by the mind and who often evokes sympathy for his questing, his thinking, and his suffering (like Versilov or Ivan Karamazov). If we carefully consider the “atheistic” characters of Dostoevsky, however, we will see that atheism is a phenomenon associated with something both bad and funny. Through humorous details, Dostoevsky imperceptibly creates an image of the “atheist” as a comical and frivolous person.

When considering laughter in Dostoevsky, one immediately thinks of the long “tirade” in The Adolescent, which proposes a kind of physiology of laughter, and its unpredictable effects on the perception of those who witness it. Laughter and caustic humor color even the most intimate confessions and can serve to partially mask the difficult action of revealing oneself before others. Modernity itself is the era of self-exhibition, of a sort of widespread confession. And yet, the laughter of modernity has lost the essence of joy. Joy is a function of that almost impossible sincerity that unveils the essence of man. The grimace of the fool, who shamelessly denudes himself before others in confession, becomes a sign of the isolation of the modern self and the end of the utopia of sincerity pursued by Rousseau.

    Description: On Features of Word Usage in Dostoevsky’s Poetic Dictionary in Connection with M.L. Uralskij and G. Mondry’s Dostoevsky and the Jews (St. Petersburg: Aletheia, 2021) . This article addresses the question of Dostoevsky’s alleged anti-Semitism with particular attention to Uralskij and Mondry’s book devoted to this topic, in which conclusions about the author’s chauvinism and xenophobia are based on his use of the word ‘Jew’ (zhid). For almost the entirety of the 19th century, however, such word usage was not a marker of anti-Semitism. Throughout his life, Dostoevsky communicated with many representatives of the Jewish people without differentitating them in any particular way from representatives of other nationalities. In the writer’s poetic dictionary, the word ‘Jew’ sometimes denotes a person who acquires unscrupulously, examples of which Dostoevsky found in all nationalities of the world, including the Russian.

    Description: Turkic World studies seem to be a topic that attracts scientific attention day by day. The continuous increase in cooperation, rapprochement, and mobility between Turkish-speaking countries and communities since 1991 might be shown as the main dynamic behind this interest. The richness of the Turkic Republics in terms of natural resources, their location on the energy and transportation corridors, the change of the balances in the Caucasus with the Second Karabakh War in 2020, and the transition of the Turkic Council from a cooperation organization to an interstate organization in 2021 under the name of the "Organization of Turkic States" also accelerate the work of the Turkic World. In the meantime, the popularization of some geopolitical determinations and predictions in the context of scientific interest in the region can be shown as an important factor. Similar to the rise of Europe in the industrial age, we can talk about the rise of Asia in the information age. The sources of political and economic power are shifting to Asian geopolitics and this process continues to strengthen. Such analyses and predictions, which bring to the agenda that in the 2050s, Asia will regain its former central position also encourage academic interest in Central Asia. This book is the product of the goal of creating an original work for the Turkish World with gap-filling parameters and process analyses determined by a meticulous preliminary study in the light of the mentioned background. In this direction, three basic perspectives such as the effort to determine the capacities of the countries with comparative analyses, to look at the Turkish World from the perspective of problems, and to embody the Turkish World based on the community, autonomous region, and country sections dominate the work. With comparative analyses, it has been tried to embody the capacities of the countries within the parameters such as sustainable development potential, transportation systems, scientific performance, evolution in the political system, education system, and values of education. On the other hand, the crises affecting the Turkic World were discussed with the analysis of Karabakh, which is the main crisis, and the Russia-Ukraine War, which is the current crisis. On the other hand, the analysis of the thirty-year process in the Turkish World, starting from the scales of the community, autonomous region, and country, was carried out through the examples of Georgia, Tatarstan, and Uzbekistan.

Bu kitap bahsedilen arka planın ışığı altında, titiz bir ön çalışmayla belirlenen boşluk doldurucu parametreler ve süreç analizleriyle Türk Dünyasına yönelik özgün bir eser oluşturma hedefinin ürünüdür. Bu doğrultuda; karşılaştırmalı analizlerle ülke kapasitelerini belirleme çabası, Türk Dünyasına sorunlar penceresinden bakma ve yine Türk Dünyasını topluluk, özerk bölge ve ülke kesitlerinden hareketle somutlaştırma gibi üç temel bakış açısı esere hâkimdir.     Description: In The Icon and the Square, Maria Taroutina examines how the traditional interests of institutions such as the crown, the church, and the Imperial Academy of Arts temporarily aligned with the radical, leftist, and revolutionary avant-garde at the turn of the twentieth century through a shared interest in the Byzantine past, offering a counternarrative to prevailing notions of Russian modernism.Focusing on the works of four different artists—Mikhail Vrubel, Vasily Kandinsky, Kazimir Malevich, and Vladimir Tatlin—Taroutina shows how engagement with medieval pictorial traditions drove each artist to transform his own practice, pushing beyond the established boundaries of his respective artistic and intellectual milieu. She also contextualizes and complements her study of the work of these artists with an examination of the activities of a number of important cultural associations and institutions over the course of several decades. As a result, The Icon and the Square gives a more complete picture of Russian modernism: one that attends to the dialogue between generations of artists, curators, collectors, critics, and theorists.The Icon and the Square retrieves a neglected but vital history that was deliberately suppressed by the atheist Soviet regime and subsequently ignored in favor of the secular formalism of mainstream modernist criticism. Taroutina’s timely study, which coincides with the centennial reassessments of Russian and Soviet modernism, is sure to invigorate conversation among scholars of art history, modernism, and Russian culture.

    Description: This book examines different contexts relevant to Pushkin in 1825 when the poem “Count Nulin” was written. Its bulk consists of studies devoted to (1) various manuscripts of the text, (2) the issue of censorship and the publication of “Count Nulin” during Pushkin’s life, (3) the biographical context for the poem’s creation, (4) the role of the text in literary polemics and (5) reactions of critics (as well as readers) during Pushkin’s lifetime. Developing the idea of Boris Eikhenbaum, R. Leibov proposes that the text was addressed primarily to members of the Petersburg literati who made up the “Poliarnaia zvezda” (Polar Star) circle. Moreover, Leibov suggests that, in “Count Nulin”, Pushkin purposefully exaggerated those literary techniques that attracted criticism in “Eugene Onegin”, making “Count Nulin” function as a self-parody. The final section of the book is composed of commentary on the poem, combining a traditional focus on the interpretation of fragments of the text with an emphasis on its overall composition, as well as description of the changing rhetorical and narrative strategies of its author.

    Description: Göl, akarsu ve denizler yüzyılları aşan süreden beri çoğunluğu insan kaynaklı olmak üzere çeşitli kirleticilerin baskısı altında bulunmaktadırlar. Özellikle endüstriyel üretimin hız kazandığı 1900’lü yılların ortalarından itibaren bu baskılar daha da artmış birçok su kaynağı kullanılamaz hale gelmiştir. Su kalitesindeki bozulmalar ve iklimsel değişim nedeniyle çok sayıda tür ortadan kalkmış, ya da tükenme noktasına gelmiştir. Ülkemizde de benzer çevresel sorunlar 1950’li yıllardan itibaren görülmeye başlanmıştır. Başta sanayi üretiminin büyük bir kısmının gerçekleştiği Marmara Bölgesindeki deniz ve içsu kaynakları olmak üzere birçok su kaynağı sanayi atıkları, evsel atıklar ve tarımsal kirleticiler ile baş başa bırakılmıştır. Söz konusu kirleticiler nedeniyle en büyük su kalitesi kaybına uğrayan alanların başında ise Marmara Denizi gelmektedir. Marmara Denizi havzası başta ülkemizin en büyük şehri olan İstanbul olmak üzere en büyük şehirlerini barındıran bir iç deniz konumundadır. Göreceli olarak küçük bir alan olmasına rağmen havzada ülke nüfusunun yaklaşık 1/3’ü yaşamaktadır. Havzadaki aşırı nüfus artışı ve kontrolsüz yapılaşma özellikle Marmara Denizi üzerinde büyük bir baskı oluşturmuştur. Uzun yıllar süresince arıtılmadan ya da sadece ön arıtıma tabi tutularak Marmara Denizine verilen atıklar denizin taşıma kapasitesini aşmış, bu nedenle denizde yaşayan birçok canlı türü tamamen ortadan kaybolmuştur. Hatta aşırı kirlenme nedeniyle Marmara Denizi’nin “Doğu Körfez” bölümü uzun yılardan beri balıkçılığa kapatılmıştır. Son zamanlarda Marmara Denizinde ortaya çıkan en önemli ekolojik sorunlardan bir tanesi de yaklaşık 6 ay süren müsilaj artışıdır. Müsilaj Ocak 2021 de başlayıp Haziran 2021’e kadar devam etmiştir. Müsilaj artışının 6 ay gibi uzun bir süre devam etmesi, büyük bir alanda habitat kayıpları yaratması, ekolojik tahribat kadar ekonomik kayıplara neden olması, balıkçılık dahil birçok ekosistem hizmetlerini etkilemesi nedeniyle dünya literatürüne girmiştir. İstanbul Üniversitesi olarak böylesine önemli ekolojik sorunu detaylı bir şekilde araştırmak, sonuçlarını ortaya koymanın gerekliliğine inanarak sadece Marmara Denizi’nde ortaya çıkan müsilaj sorunu ile ilgili çalışmaların yer aldığı 13 bölümden oluşan kitap yayınlamaya karar verdik. Deniz araştırmaları konusunda yaklaşık 80 yıllık deneyime sahip İstanbul Üniversitesinin yayınladığı bu eserin deniz bilimcilere ve karar vericilere başucu kaynağı olmasını diliyoruz.

Almost the health systems of the countries were tested with a test consisting of the same questions. During the pandemic, many unknown equations were intertwined. We had so many unknowns at the beginning of the epidemic. We did not yet clearly know how we approached patients, how to treat them, and what drugs should be given. Over the past two years, much research and many experiences have taught us how to behave against the disease. During the pandemic, we learned by experience how damaging information pollution can be. The epidemic also showed us the vaccine wars. We have seen how valuable the vaccines we use to get rid of the epidemic are, how developed countries have entered vaccine wars, and the change in the dynamics of the epidemic with vaccination. The years 2020-2022 will be defined as the epidemic years. During this epidemic, we saw that it was precious for physicians to get the correct information. This source has been tried to be created thanks to the fact that it has written down the experiences gained by experiencing this epidemic in person. Üstelik bu öyle bir salgın ki sadece bir ülkede değil, bütün dünya ülkelerinde aynı zamanda ve benzer yoğunlukta etkilendi. Adeta ülkelerin sağlık sistemleri aynı sorulardan oluşan bir sınavla sınandı. Salgın sırasında birçok bilinmeyen denklem iç içe idi. Salgın başında o kadar çok bilinmeyenimiz vardı ki. Hastalara nasıl yaklaştığımızı, nasıl tedavi vereceğimizi ve hangi ilaçların verilmesi gerektiğini henüz net bir şekilde bilmiyorduk. Geçen iki yıl zarfında birçok araştırma ve birçok deneyim bizim hastalığa karşı nasıl davranmamız gerektiğini öğretti. Salgın sırasında bilgi kirliliğinin ne kadar zarar verebilir olduğunu yaşayarak öğrendik. Salgın bize birde aşı savaşlarını gösterdi. Salgından kurtulmak için kullandığımız aşıların ne kadar değerli olduğunu, gelişmiş ülkelerin nasıl aşı savaşlarına girdiğini aşılama ile beraber salgın dinamiklerindeki değişimi gördük. 2020-2022 yılları salgın yılları olarak tanımlanacaktır. Bu salgın sırasında hekimlerin doğru bilgilerin ulaşmasının çok değerli olduğunu gördük. Elinizdeki bu kaynak salgını bizzat yaşayarak elde edilen tecrübelerini yazıya dökmesi sayesinde oluşturulmaya çalışılmıştır. Kitabın oluşturulmasındaki emeği olan tüm arkadaşlarımıza içten teşekkürlerimizi arz ediyoruz. Bu kitabın okuyuculara fayda getirmesini diliyoruz.     Description: In Dostoevsky’s binary poetics, an opposition can be drawn between two fundamental stances – asceticism and incontinence. Ascetics adhere to an ethos of self-restraint in response to the desires of the flesh. Incontinents act spontaneously to gratify their desires. The current study draws an analogy between the behavior pattern of Dostoevsky’s self-denying intellectual heroes and that of exiled castrate (skoptsy) communities. Dostoevsky’s ascetics represent a cerebral mindset attracted to visions of social utopia; their intellectualizing detaches them from the life of the body and thus weirdly parallels the strictures of the skoptsy. An encounter between an ascetic and a prostitute serves as a central plot moment in works such as Crime and Punishment and Notes from Underground.

Kuruluşu İstanbul’un fethine dayanan İstanbul Üniversitesi’nin tarihi, bir süreliğine medrese olarak hizmet veren Zeyrek Camii (Pantokrator Manastırı Kilisesi) ve Fatih Külliyesi’ne ait medreselerde verilen eğitime dayanmaktadır. Osmanlı dünyasında 19. yüzyılda başlayan reformlar eğitim sistemini de etkilemiş ve daha batılı bir üniversite anlayışı içeren Dârülfünun denemelerine girişilmiştir. 20. yüzyıl başında devam eden bu süreçte istenilen başarıya ulaşılamamıştır. Cumhuriyet’in ilanından bir süre sonra İsviçreli Profesör Albert Malche’nin raporları esas alınarak hazırlanan ve 31 Mayıs 1933 yılında çıkarılan kanunla birlikte Dârülfünun kapatılmış ve yerine İstanbul Üniversitesi kurulmuştur. Üniversite reformu olarak da bilinen bu dönüşüm, literatürde çağdaş yüksek öğretimin başlangıcı olarak kabul edilmektedir. İstanbul Üniversitesi’nde sunulan eğitimin her unsurunun arkasında asırlık bilgi ve birikim bulunmaktadır. İstanbul Üniversitesi Türkiye’nin yükseköğretim geleneğini kuran, başlatan, kurallarını koyan, nitelikli hale gelmesi için, geliştirilmesi için özgür fikirler üreten bir üniversitedir. İstanbul Üniversitesi bünyesinde bulunan çok sayıda yapı da yine yüzyıllara uzanan tarihinden izler taşımaktadır. Попытки завершились успехом уже в начале 1990-х. В раздел «исследования» вошли статьи об одном из малоизвестных членов знаменитого клана баронов Гинцбургов — Альфреде, сыне Горация и о народовольце Савелии Златопольском. Альфред Гинцбург был управляющим Ленскими золотыми приисками и внес существенный вклад в развитие российской золотодобывающей промышленности. И, разумеется, в благосостояние семейства. Статья о члене Исполнительного комитета «Народной воли» Савелии Златопольском является по существу первым исследованием об этом видном деятеле революционного движения. В приложении к статье публикуются показания Златопольского на следствии и письма из заключения. Завершают том публикации лагерных писем известного фольклориста и музыковеда Моисея Береговского и транскрипт интервью Бориса Каменко, чудом пережившего Холокост на Ставрополье. Все остальные члены его семьи были расстреляны нацистами. Материалы, публикуемые в настоящем томе, извлечены из архивов Москвы, Санкт-Петербурга, Нью-Йорка, а также из семейных архивов.

    Description: The book is an extended commentary on Pushkin’s poem “The Robber Brothers”. The author redefines the poem’s place in Pushkin’s creative biography and provides a detailed line-by-line commentary. This poem by Alexander Pushkin has been considered peripheral among his “Southern Poems”, and therefore researchers have paid little attention to it. The main cause of such lack of consideration was the specific history of the creation of “The Robber Brothers.” Pushkin experimented with constructing a new poem at the intersection of different vectors of genre and style topical for both the poet and literature as a whole. Due to this dynamic tension, the concept of the poem became ambiguous – the choice of the plot composition and narrative methods were not determined. After making several attempts and sketches, Pushkin shortened his initial concept and created an author legend on the genesis of the poem, which was introduced to the first audience of readers as a disconnected fragment of a scattered whole, whereas the plot of the poem was depicted as based on a real event. Within Pushkin’s corpus, “The Robber Brothers” remained primarily a literary monument of the author’s rapid evolution during his “Southern” period. It proved to be an extremely concentrated experiment, ultimately without success.

In healthcare, traditional complex health service systems are increasingly replaced by smart systems that can be monitored and controlled in real time. Intelligent systems equipped with digital technology opportunities have started the “Health 4.0” era in health care fields. The definitions of “Health 4.0” and “Smart Health” are used in parallel with the “Industry 4.0” period, in order to emphasize the cyber-physical determinants of health, symbolizing real-time information provision and access to holistic health care. One of the most important reasons why the concept of smart health has become popular is the concept of big data produced in medicine as well as in all areas of life. The enormous size and variety of data, whether real-time or timestamped, structured or unstructured, continues to grow in healthcare. Clinical artificial intelligence applications, which include more efficient and faster technological solutions in the production of health services, and which aim to increase the health level of individuals and improve their quality of life, are becoming widespread with approaches to improve health services by analyzing health data. In addition to the use of artificial intelligence in the administration of health services, performance and capacity increase, original models are also created in the management of health services. The use of informatics approaches in diagnosis, treatment and care processes, the developments in digital imaging technologies, the use of robotic systems in surgery, the widespread use of modeling and simulation technologies in medical education make a difference in the functioning of health institutions. Despite the disadvantage of high initial investment costs, artificial intelligence technologies in the field of health contribute greatly to measurement, diagnosis, treatment management and follow-up activities with their facilitating and adaptive effects. Although conceptual and technical studies on the future of artificial intelligence applications continue, it is not possible for artificial intelligence systems to display the ability for emotional intelligence, which requires design, adaptation and intuition, and to perform multitasking similar to the human brain. As in the field of informatics, there are still concerns about ethical reasoning responsibility and ethical decision making in artificial intelligence applications in medicine. In the third book of the series published by Istanbul University Press in medical informatics, the applications of medical informatics and artificial intelligence in medicine are discussed with a multidisciplinary approach and broad perspective. In particular, telemedicine and out-of-hospital patient management issues, which allow health service delivery to be provided without time and space limits, are handled with public regulations specific to the coronavirus pandemic period.

Sağlık hizmetlerinin yürütülmesinde yapay zekâ kullanımı performans ve kapasite artışının yanı sıra sağlık hizmetlerinin yönetiminde de özgün modeller oluşturulmaktadır. Tanı, tedavi ve bakım süreçlerinde enformatik yaklaşımların kullanılması, dijital görüntüleme teknolojilerindeki gelişmeler, cerrahi alanında robotik sistemlerden yararlanılması, modelleme ve benzetim teknolojilerinin eğitimde yaygın olarak kullanılması, sağlık kurumlarının işleyişinde farklılık yaratmaktadır. Sağlık alanında yapay zekâ teknolojileri, başlangıçtaki yüksek yatırım maliyeti dezavantajına karşın kolaylaştırıcı ve uyumlaştırıcı etkileriyle ölçme, tanılama, tedavi yönetimi ve izlem etkinliklerine büyük katkı sağlamaktadır. Yapay zekâ uygulamalarının geleceğine yönelik kavramsal ve teknik çalışmalar devam etmekle birlikte yapay zekâ sistemlerinin henüz tasarım, adaptasyon ve sezgi gerektiren duygusal zekâya yönelik yetenek sergilemesi, insan beyni benzeri çoklu görevleri gerçekleştirebilmesi söz konusu değildir. Bilişim alanının genelinde olduğu gibi tıpta da yapay zekâ uygulamalarında etik akıl yürütme sorumluluğu ve etik karar verme konularında kaygılar sürmektedir. Tıp bilişimi alanında İstanbul Üniversitesi Yayınevi tarafında yayınlanan serinin üçüncü kitabında da tıp bilişimi ve tıpta yapay zekâ konularının farklı alanlarda uygulamaları multidisipliner yaklaşım ve geniş bakış açısı ile irdelenmektedir.     Description: Esse-perfect in Macedonian: lexical distribution and contextual restrictions - The present article deals with the esse-perfect in Macedonian, also found in Aromanian and some Albanian dialects, which is formed with verbs of both aspects by means of the auxiliary sum ‘to be’ plus the (formally) passive participle. In contrast to previous work on this topic, our research sets out to determine the domains of usage for this construction in Macedonian, both in the standard language and its dialects, especially those on the western periphery and in linguistic enclaves surrounded by Albanian-speaking communities. In addition to personal fieldwork, three main corpora serve as a material basis for this task; see the list of sources at the end of the article. The formation of the esse-perfect is rather limited when compared with the other two perfects of Macedonian. In particular, its distribution clearly depends on lexical verb classes, with language contact accounting for less rigid restrictions and a wider usage of this construction.

    Description: Göl, akarsu ve denizler yüzyılları aşan süreden beri çoğunluğu insan kaynaklı olmak üzere çeşitli kirleticilerin baskısı altında bulunmaktadırlar. Özellikle endüstriyel üretimin hız kazandığı 1900’lü yılların ortalarından itibaren bu baskılar daha da artmış birçok su kaynağı kullanılamaz hale gelmiştir. Su kalitesindeki bozulmalar ve iklimsel değişim nedeniyle çok sayıda tür ortadan kalkmış, ya da tükenme noktasına gelmiştir. Ülkemizde de benzer çevresel sorunlar 1950’li yıllardan itibaren görülmeye başlanmıştır. Başta sanayi üretiminin büyük bir kısmının gerçekleştiği Marmara Bölgesindeki deniz ve içsu kaynakları olmak üzere birçok su kaynağı sanayi atıkları, evsel atıklar ve tarımsal kirleticiler ile baş başa bırakılmıştır. Söz konusu kirleticiler nedeniyle en büyük su kalitesi kaybına uğrayan alanların başında ise Marmara Denizi gelmektedir. Marmara Denizi havzası başta ülkemizin en büyük şehri olan İstanbul olmak üzere en büyük şehirlerini barındıran bir iç deniz konumundadır. Göreceli olarak küçük bir alan olmasına rağmen havzada ülke nüfusunun yaklaşık 1/3’ü yaşamaktadır. Havzadaki aşırı nüfus artışı ve kontrolsüz yapılaşma özellikle Marmara Denizi üzerinde büyük bir baskı oluşturmuştur. Uzun yıllar süresince arıtılmadan ya da sadece ön arıtıma tabi tutularak Marmara Denizine verilen atıklar denizin taşıma kapasitesini aşmış, bu nedenle denizde yaşayan birçok canlı türü tamamen ortadan kaybolmuştur. Hatta aşırı kirlenme nedeniyle Marmara Denizi’nin “Doğu Körfez” bölümü uzun yılardan beri balıkçılığa kapatılmıştır. Son zamanlarda Marmara Denizinde ortaya çıkan en önemli ekolojik sorunlardan bir tanesi de yaklaşık 6 ay süren müsilaj artışıdır. Müsilaj Ocak 2021 de başlayıp Haziran 2021’e kadar devam etmiştir. Müsilaj artışının 6 ay gibi uzun bir süre devam etmesi, büyük bir alanda habitat kayıpları yaratması, ekolojik tahribat kadar ekonomik kayıplara neden olması, balıkçılık dahil birçok ekosistem hizmetlerini etkilemesi nedeniyle dünya literatürüne girmiştir. İstanbul Üniversitesi olarak böylesine önemli ekolojik sorunu detaylı bir şekilde araştırmak, sonuçlarını ortaya koymanın gerekliliğine inanarak sadece Marmara Denizi’nde ortaya çıkan müsilaj sorunu ile ilgili çalışmaların yer aldığı 13 bölümden oluşan kitap yayınlamaya karar verdik. Deniz araştırmaları konusunda yaklaşık 80 yıllık deneyime sahip İstanbul Üniversitesinin yayınladığı bu eserin deniz bilimcilere ve karar vericilere başucu kaynağı olmasını diliyoruz.

Some of the studies are devoted to an overview of the literary process and the activities of its participants, others—to individual genres and movements. As a result, a complex and multifaceted picture emerges of a not quite fully defined, but very lively and dynamic community that develops in the most difficult conditions. The contributors trace the paths of Russian-Israeli prose, poetry and drama, various waves of avant-garde, fantasy, and critical thought. Today, in Russian-Israeli literature, the voices of writers of various generations and waves of repatriation are intertwined: from the "seventies" to the "war aliyah" of the recent times. Both the Russian-Israeli authors and their critics often hold different opinions of their respective roles in Israel’s historical and literary storms.     Description: Onomastics and Paradox: Dostoevsky and the Collapse of the Ontological Integrity of Character. Onomastics plays a key role in Dostoevsky’s poetics: the names of most of his characters are essential to their portraits, even though these names rarely signify unambiguously. Moreover, a number of his characters are nameless and a semantic tension arises from this absence: the impossibility of “branding” the hero with a name prevents us from identifying his or her features through verbal onomastic symbolism. The portrait of such characters necessarily remains somewhat murky. It is no coincidence that the “nameless heroes” are the most paradoxical and enigmatic characters of Dostoevsky’s creative world. By denying them names, Dostoevsky seeks to destroy the inner integrity of these heroes, their identity, in order that a living, independent, and contradictory personality emerges in them.

    Description: Funny Fathers. Types of the ridiculous old man in Dostoevsky’s novels. The first chapters from Dostoevsky’s novel Netochka Nezvanova deal with the fate and the peculiar story of life of the heroine’s stepfather. He is called Efimov and, being an alcoholic and overconfident, he plunges his family into misery. Therefore, he can be considered a prototype of ridiculous father figures occurring in the great novels (Marmeladov from Crime and Punishment, General Ivolgin from The Idiot and Stepan Trofimovič from The Demons). The article focuses on the determining character traits of these figures who embody the dramatic failure of the father generation. While characterising those laughable vecchi, special attention is given to the seemingly paradox criterium of the tragicomic, which finally results in questioning the tension between freedom and a predetermined fate.

    Description: The Paradox of Female Sexual Desire in Crime and Punishment: On the Question of the Female Breast . This article examines references to the female breast found in Dostoevsky’s novel Crime and Punishment to reveal the contradictory role of female sexuality in his literary world. Despite feminist inclinations and a personal familiarity with “emancipated love,” he had particular difficulty with issues of women’s sexual desire and female corporeality, associating them with danger. He actively suppressed the bodies and desire of physically attractive women in his work. In Crime and Punishment, for ex., both Sonia and Dunia attract male desire, but do not express their own. References to the female breast in his work reveal this deep ambivalence about the female body: now alluring, now menacing, now subject to torture, the breast can also be symbolically maternal or disease-ridden.

Although a smile most often displays joy and pleasure, it sometimes expresses emotions such as sadness, cruelty, anger, etc. This analysis aims to focus on the paradoxical “mistrustful, silent, and evil smile” of A Gentle Creature. Her smile marks the beginning of her life with the Pawnbroker and it is her companion until the end of her life. The paradox of smile illuminates other paradoxes such as that of communication (verbal/nonverbal, communication/its negation), of death (suicide and the icon, destruction/resurrection, silence/birth of words), of the Pawnbroker’s story (author-narrator, narrative/story, fantastic/realistic, contradictions in the story), and of the event (real event/event in the narrator’s mind).

    Description: About Slavonicisms in The Brothers Karamazov. This work draws attention to the function of Slavonicisms in The Brothers Karamazov. In the last dialogue between Kolja Krasotkin and Alesha Karamazov, Kolja’s lines about postmortality or immortality are stylistically limited to the framework of the middle-lower register of Russian and thus exclude any metaphysical component. Alesha’s response, in contrast, is constructed in a Slavonic idiolect that belongs simultaneously to the conventional and to the mythopoetic. Another case of this appeal to the Slavonic register may be found in the dispute between Ivan and the devil regarding the recognition or denial of the incarnation of evil in the world. Claiming incarnation, Satan tries to demonstrate the equivalence of demonic and human nature. The primary instrument deployed in this argument is a Slavonicism, claimed by Satan, but which does not belong to him.

    Description: Verbal aspect in the Macedonian dialect of Boboshtica-Drenova and Albanian-Slavic language contact - Long-term subdominant bilingualism with Albanian has had a significant impact on verbal aspect marking in the Macedonian dialect of Boboshtica-Drenova (South-East Albania). The Slavic formal opposition of perfective and imperfective aspect marked through a variety of derivational methods has been preserved. However, under Albanian influence two continuous aspect con­structions have been grammaticalised in the dialect, one of them based on the locative ǵe, and the other on the adversative conjunction toko. The paths of grammaticalization of these markers are investigated, which include structural transfer (ǵe 〈 locative and temporal tek, toko 〈 adversative and continuous po), which is partially supported by the phonetic similarity between the respective Albanian and Macedonian dialectal markers (toko || duke, tek).

Wengle shifts our focus away from what has been at the center of post-Soviet political economy - corruption and the lack of structural reforms - to draw attention to political struggles to establish a state with the ability to govern the economy. She highlights the importance of hands-on economic planning by authorities - post-Soviet developmentalism - and details the market mechanisms that have been created. This book argues that these observations urge us to think of economies and political authority as mutually constitutive, in Russia and beyond. Whereas political science often thinks of market arrangements resulting from political institutions, Russia's marketization demonstrates that political status is also produced by the market arrangements that actors create.     Description: Deconstruction in the 19th Century (from the Natural School to Leo Tolstoy) and Fyodor Dostoevsky. The modern understanding of deconstruction arose from post-structuralism and implies distrust of semblance, the outward appearance of any ideology or structure, together with the search for a hidden interior. Dostoevsky renounces one-dimensionality and shows its deconstructing nature. He considers it a prejudice to believe that disclosing the hidden and forbidden has more “truth” in it, as is evident from his dispute with Tolstoy, who uses the principle of exposing the ignoble background of a supposedly noble national ideology to criticize the “defenders of the Slavic brothers” in Anna Karenina. Dostoevsky refuses to recognize the results of deconstruction (the denial of the declared) as the last and only version of the truth about reality. His approach can be defined as the “deconstruction of deconstruction.”

    Description: Dostoevsky’s Dialectic: The Name of the Father and the Saving Power of Childhood. The artistic experience of Dostoevsky’s novels combines two rather heterogeneous hermeneutic strategies – the analysis of the unconscious and of existential utopia. In the first case, Dostoevsky problematizes the completeness of the symbolic order of culture as such through the thematization of the figure and name of the Father. From the perspective of the second strategy, Dostoevsky creates his own utopia of a symbolic order, with the eternal substance of people’s life capable of infinite renewal in the child’s soul in the role of the great Other. His novels reveal what can be called the creative core of culture. The murder of Fyodor Karamazov is an archetypal event, a sacrifice of the Body of the Father for the sake of the NAME of the dead Father, it initiates a paradigmatic process in the Symbolic.

    Description: In order to preserve the memory of the late Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin (d. 2018) and to ensure that his significant scientific legacy serves as a source of inspiration for future generations, the 1st International Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Symposioum on the History of Science in Islam, in collaboration with Istanbul University, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University, and the Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Research Foundation for the History of Science in Islam held its inaugural conference between June 13-15, 2019. Subsequently, IU Press published 38 of the papers that had been presented at the conference. Following this, the decision was made to organize the symposium every two years, and preparations were undertaken for the 2nd International Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Symposium on the History of Science in Islam, which was held on October 7-9, 2021 with the theme of “Methodological Approaches to the History of Science in Islam.” The study of the intellectual output from the Islamic world as an object of research has a nearly 200-year history. Despite the efforts of many international scholars to discover, understand, and interpret the history of Islamic sciences and determine its relevance for contemporary society, many aspects of the history of Islamic sciences still exist that remain to be clarified, such as the individuals, works, theories, networks of relations, contexts, and influences. Two key questions facing researchers in this field is how to approach the history of Islamic sciences using methodological tools and how to utilize perspectives from different disciplines. The 2nd International Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Symposium on the History of Science in Islam aimed to address these issues by discussing the methodological aspects of how to research the history of Islamic sciences with a focus on the following questions: • How does the study of the history of Islamic sciences relate to the established historiography and research methods? • How can the history of Islamic sciences be periodized? Is creating a periodization that encompasses all sciences possible, or should separate periodizations be established for each individual science? • Can special methods be mentioned for studying the period following the 13th century that is commonly referred to as the post-classical period? • Has the paradigm of decline in understanding the history of Islamic sciences truly expired? • What opportunities and weaknesses do content-oriented and context-oriented approaches have in regard to analyzing scientific texts? • How should the relationship Islamic sciences have with the scientific accumulation of other civilization basins be handled? • What kind of balance should be established between continuity and originality when writing the history of scientific theories? • To what extent is the perspective presented by global history studies functional in understanding the history of Islamic sciences? • What kinds of methods and approaches should be used in teaching the history of general science at different levels, including the history of Islamic sciences? A total of 68 scholars, 41 from Turkey and 27 from other countries such as Germany, the United States of America, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Iran, Spain, Switzerland, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Syria, Tunisia, and Greece participated in 16 parallel sessions. The symposium was conducted in a hybrid format to take into account the ongoing pandemic, with 51 of the presenters having attended the symposium in person and 17 having presented their papers online. This article examines the role of deconstruction in Dostoevsky’s novels as a technique for bringing the ideological and psychological components of images into collision. These images are imbued with complex paradoxical meaning, revealing anthropological and philosophical issues in the writer’s work. Crime and Punishment advances the theme of a need for crime in order to achieve the moral rebirth of the hero. Moving forward on this path, the novel dismantles both inner and outer limits in the space of the hero. In The Idiot, Dostoevsky links passionate and antagonistic motifs to the Christian idea, thereby deconstructing boththe entire ethical concept of Myškin and the narrative associated with it. In The Adolescent the main character is subjected to destructive motivational interventions.

    Description: “Both violin and contrabass”: The Figure of Paradox and the Poetics of Bewilderment in the Artistic Thinking of Pirandello and Dostoevsky. Pirandello and Dostoevsky are deeply linked at thematic, ideological and textual levels. In 1908, Pirandello published the treatise Humorism, in which he elaborated an original theory of humor and substantiated a worldview that is quite close to the type of artistic consciousness inherent in Dostoevsky’s work, and is genetically related to it. The poetics of paradox, in which every mental and sensual experience is tested by its “opposite”, encourages the reader to “hang” between two seemingly mutually exclusive principles while opening up the possibility of a new, more complex understanding of reality and of the Other. This article presents aspects of Pirandello’s theory of humor in a new light, revealing their potential for application to the analysis of Dostoevsky’s work.

    Description: Professionals and Marginals in Slavic and Jewish Cultural Traditions is the annual publication of the Slavic & Jewish Cultures: Dialogue, Similarities, Differences’s project for 2022. It includes papers from the international conference of the same name held in Moscow on December 1–3, 2021. The book includes twelve articles by Russian and Israeli scholars who work on the social and cultural role of professionals and marginals in various ethno-confessional traditions. The question of the perception of professionals in culture falls under the opposition “one’s own/another’s,” where belonging to “one’s own” or a “foreign community or class” becomes a defining marker. Traditionally, “social strangers,” to which representatives of various professions belong, were assigned a special role in calendar, magical, and occasional rites. Thus, professionals and social marginals were not considered outcasts: society assigned them a particular place and role, delegating special cultural functions to them. Like previous publications in this series, Professionals and Marginals in Slavic and Jewish Cultural Traditions is notable for the large amount of field and archival material that it makes publically available for the first time.

    Description: Acta Slavica Estonica is an international series of publications on current issues of Russian and other Slavic languages, literatures and cultures. The first part of the book contains chapters about the general history of school textbooks for reading and the story of the heritage of two authors (Vyazemsky and Fet) in them. The second part of the book presents chapters on various Russian poets (Batyushkov, Zhukovsky, Pushkin, Koltsov, Tyutchev, Maikov) whose poems found a firm place in the reading materials for schools. The chapters of the monograph give an idea of different aspects of the history of these texts and their reception. The monograph has two supplements. In the first there is a list of 108 textbooks and books of reading which are all included in the unique data base accessible in the Internet (www.ruthenia.ru/canon). The second supplement offers a list of the most popular authors and their texts included in the textbooks of the 19th century.

    Description: Acta Slavica Estonica is an international series of publications on current issues of Russian and other Slavic languages, literatures and cultures. This issue of the subseries “Blokovskii sbornik” continues the series of studies started by Zara Mints in 1964. The majority of works from Section I of the book, “The Art of А. Blok in the Context of 19th–20th Century Literature,” is devoted to the study of the poet’s works, his perceptions of preceding writers’ works, and his biographical and artistic contacts with contemporaries. The articles in Section II, “Silver Age Literature: Creative and Social Strategies,” are mainly focused on artistic works and essays of modernist literati contemporary to Blok or to some extent resonating with his poetry and artistic worldview.

    Description: In the stem-derivational perfective-imperfective opposition of Slavic the role of prefixes and suffixes has to be assessed jointly. The article evaluates the diachronic backdrop and parameters appropriate for classificatory categories. Special attention is paid to the criteria applied by aspectologists to determine aspect pairs and to aspect triplets. The assessment ends up with a paradox resulting from Maslov’s criteria of ‘trivial pairednessʼ, which require not only identical lexical meaning, but an ontology for which telic events are the sole basis in the derivation of aspect pairs.

    Description: This article explores the diplomatic correspondence sent to the Doge of Venice by Peter I (1721) and by his daughter Empress Elizabeth I (1743), informing him of peace treaties that had recently been concluded between Russia and Sweden. Analyzing these letters in the context of Russia’s diplomatic and epistolary relations with Venice in the 17th and 18th centuries, we examine their structure and composition with particular attention to the presence of diplomatic and epistolary formulae to identify evolutionary changes in the diplomatic and epistolary etiquette employed by Peter I and his successors.

    Description: Uzun yıllardır uygulanan liberal-kapitalist yönetişim modeli, bireyselleşmeyi ve piyasayı egemen kılıp, özel sektörü büyüterek, devleti ve hizmetlerini sınırlandırarak varlığını bugüne kadar sürdürdü. Ancak COVID-19 krizi ile birlikte bu ekonomik sistemin nasıl bir sonuç doğurduğuna hep birlikte şahit olduk. Dünyanın en büyük ekonomilerine sahip ülkelerin salgınla mücadelede ihtiyaç duyulan en temel koruma malzemelerini sağlamakta aciz duruma düşmesi, hastaları seçerek tedaviye almaları ve diğerlerini ölüme terk etmeleri, ölen insanlarını taşıyacak tabutları ve gömecek yerlerinin olmaması mevcut sistemlerin ne kadar insani olduğu sorununu somut bir şekilde ortaya çıkardı. Uluslararası rekabette en başarılı ülkeler, üstünlük sağlayan sektörlere ve üretime odaklanarak ekonomik gelişme stratejilerini bugüne kadar sürdürdüler. Ancak uzun tedarik zincirlerine ve küreselleşmeye dayalı bu yapı çökerken, katı sınırlar ve ulusal üretimlerle bu boşluğu doldurma arayışı ön plana çıktı. Ekonomiyle birlikte fonksiyonları zayıflayan, hizmet alan ve kapasitesi kısıtlanan devlet aygıtı ve yapısı, yaşanan salgınla birlikte büyük bir krizle karşı karşıya kaldı. COVID-19 salgınıyla birlikte ekonomik gelişmelere rağmen, sağlık hizmetlerinin ve tarımsal üretimin acil hallerde yarattığı etkilerinin insanlığı tehdit edecek boyutlara nasıl ulaştığını yaşayarak tecrübe ettik. Salgın ile birlikte tarımsal üretim başta olmak üzere temel ihtiyaçları karşılayacak üretimi yapabilmenin önemini bir kez daha anladık. Maske, solunum cihazı, ilaç ve aşı gibi halk sağlığı alanlarında üretim ve hizmetleri sunmanın ne kadar önemli olduğunun bilincine vardık. Üretimlerin stratejik öneminin dönemsel ve ihtiyaçlara göre değişebildiği gerçeğini bir kez daha yaşadık ve paramız olsa da bazı ürünleri ve hizmetleri satın alamayacağımızı gördük. Salgın, küresel düzeyde neredeyse hepimizi ruhsal, fiziksel ve sosyal açıdan eşitleyerek; sağlık, eğitim, gelir eşitsizliği, yoksulluk, işsizlik, göç, iklim krizi, temel insan ihtiyaçlarına erişim dahil her alanda yeni farkındalıklar oluşturdu. Salgın, bir yönüyle bencilliği besledi, dayanışmayı azalttı, yalnızlığa, biyolojik olduğu kadar psikolojik sorunlara ve bilgi kirliliğine yol açtı, ölüm korkusunu bireysel olmaktan çıkarıp, toplumsallaştırdı. Diğer yönüyle de dayanışma ihtiyacını artırdı ve ortak kader duygusunu güçlendirdi. Bu nedenle sosyal uyumu esas alan bir anlayışa olan ihtiyacımız daha fazla önem kazandı. Bundan dolayı toplumsal savrulmayı önleyecek ve panik yaşanmasına fırsat vermeyecek yapılanmaya ihtiyacımız arttı. 1980 sonrasında neoliberal rüzgârların etkisiyle yapılan özelleştirmelerle Türkiye’de de devlet nispeten küçültüldü, ekonomik ve sosyal sorunların yaşandığı bir dönemde küresel salgınla karşılaşıldı. Ancak genel sağlık sigortası, hastane sayısı, yatak kapasitesi gibi alanlarda sahip olduğumuz potansiyel ve kriz yönetme becerimiz sayesinde süreci nispeten daha iyi şartlarda geçirmekteyiz. Fakat bu gerçeğe rağmen ülkemizin de yeni şartlara adapte olmasını sağlayacak, krizi en az zararla atlatacak ve 21. yüzyılın ihtiyaçlarını karşılayacak yeniden yapılanmaya ihtiyacı artmaktadır. Ekonomik ve sosyal alanda yaşananlar yeni bir paradigma değişikliğine ihtiyaç olduğunu gösteriyor. Çünkü doyumsuzluğu ve obeziteyi besleyen sınırsız ihtiyaçlar algısı yerine, ihtiyaçların sınırlı olduğu ve isteklerin sınırlandırılabileceğini esas alan, bilgi hariç kaynakların sınırlı olduğu ilkesine dayalı yeni bir ekonomik düzeni inşa edecek bir paradigma değişikliğine yönelik beklenti artıyor. Kriz sürecini en az zararla atlatabilmek için hep birlikte dayanışma içinde mücadele ederek, küresel düzeyde yükselen işkollarını ve meslekleri esas alarak, endüstrileri ve iş piyasalarını yeniden yapılandırmak gerekiyor. Bu kitabın editörlüğünü üstelenen, yazar olarak katkıda bulunan ve hazırlanmasında görev alan fakültemizin çok kıymetli hocalarına bu vesileyle bir kez daha çok teşekkür ediyorum. 84 yıllık birikimimize uygun bir şekilde dünyada ve ülkemizde yaşanan ve yaşanacak sorunlara öğretim üyelerimiz kayıtsız kalmamış, var olan zor şartlara rağmen alternatifler üreterek, yol gösterici öngörülerde bulunmuşlardır. Hiç kuşkusuz bu kitap ön çalışma niteliğindedir, verilere ulaşıldıkça detaylandırılacaktır. Ufuk açıcı ve faydalı olması dileğiyle saygılar sunuyorum.

Yapay zekâ, derin öğrenme ve yapay sinir ağları, akıllı karar destek sistemleri, giyilebilir teknolojiler, sensörler, otonom/robotik araçlar, sanal gerçeklik, artırılmış gerçeklik, bulut bilişim sistemleri, nesnelerin internet ve geniş bant internet teknolojisi, web, gerçek zamanlı veri aktarımı, büyük veri, blokzincir, üç boyutlu yazıcılar, nanoteknoloji, biyoteknoloji ve kuantum bilgi işlem gibi gelişen teknolojik atılımların etkileri toplumsal ve ekonomik yaşamda bir dönüşüm süreci başlatmıştır. Akıllı sağlık, bireylerin sağlıkları ile ilgili farkındalıklarını ve yaşam kalitesini artırmayı hedefleyen, sağlık verisinin analiz edilmesiyle sağlık hizmetlerini iyileştirmeye yönelik yaklaşımların bütünüdür. Bilişim ve iletişim teknolojilerinin kullanılmasının ortaya çıkardığı düşünce tarzı, anlayış ve kavrayışın neticesi olarak akıllı sağlık, sağlığın dijital dönüşümünün bir sonraki aşamasını oluşturmaktadır. T.C. Sağlık Bakanlığı tarafından 2013-2017 stratejik planında yer alan ve 2015 yılındaki Sağlıkta Dönüşüm Projesi kapsamında kurulan Ulusal Sağlık Sistemine entegre edilen dijitalleşme ile e-Sağlık bileşenleri hayata geçirilmeye başlanmıştır. Ağustos 2021 tarihinde 11. Kalkınma Planı ile Cumhurbaşkanlığı Yıllık Programları doğrultusunda, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Dijital Dönüşüm Ofisi tarafından Ulusal Yapay Zekâ Stratejisi yayınlanmıştır. Raporda belirlenen stratejik öncelikler arasında vurgulandığı üzere, dönem sonu 2025 yılında yapay zekânın gayrisafi yurtiçi hasılaya katkısının %5’e yükseltilmesi hedeflenmektedir. 21. yüzyıl ülkelerinin refah düzeyini bilgiye ulaşma, bilgiyi işleme ve bilgiyi kullanma düzeyi belirlemektedir. Ancak gelecek yönelimlerinde, kompleks niteliklerle çok daha hızlı seyreden teknolojik gelişmeler ile yasal ve etik düzenlemeler senkronize değildir. Gelecekte genom bilimi, malzeme bilimi, nanoteknoloji, doku mühendisliği, bilgi bankaları, veri işleme, doğal dil işleme, sanal gerçeklik ve tıp bilişimi desteğiyle akıllı sağlık uygulamaları öngörülenden çok daha ileri boyutlara taşınabilecektir.

    Description: Engellilik Tarihi Yazıları, 15-16 Kasım 2018 tarihinde İstanbul Üniversitesi Engelliler Uygulama Merkezi ve İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Sağlık Daire Başkanlığı Engelliler Müdürlüğü işbirliği ile düzenlenen Dünden Bugüne Engellilik-Engellilik Araştırmaları Konferansı’nda sunulan çalışmalardan derlendi. Engellilik meselesini disiplinler arası bir yaklaşımla inceleyen ‘Engellilik Araştırmaları’, kuramsal ve uygulamalı bir bilim alanıdır. Bu alan 1970’li yıllarda Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ve İngiltere’de başlayan engelli hakları hareketinin akademik çalışmalara yansımasıyla ortaya çıktı. Sonraki yıllarda engelliliği sosyal, kültürel, tarihsel, hukuki, politik ve etik yönleriyle ele alan disiplinler arası bir araştırma alanı olarak Amerika ve Avrupa’ya yayıldı, pek çok üniversitede lisansüstü, hatta lisans düzeyinde programlar başlatıldı. Türkiye’de 2017 yılında, engellilik araştırmalarının geliştirilmesi amacıyla, İstanbul Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Engellilik Araştırmaları Anabilim Dalı kurularak, yüksek lisans programı açıldı. Engellilik deneyiminin kişisel ve toplumsal düzeyde etkilerini incelemeyi hedefleyen bu programın belkemiğini oluşturan konulardan birisi de, toplumlarda engelliliğin tarihsel ve sosyokültürel boyutlarıydı. Türkiye’de engelliliğin tarihsel ve sosyo-kültürel boyutlarını ilgilendiren alanlarda farklı disiplinler tarafından yapılmış bazı çalışmalara rastlanmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, engellilik çalışmalarıyla ilgilenen araştırmacılar için kaynak ihtiyacı açık bir şekilde eksikliği hissedilen bir konudur. Engellilik Tarihi Yazıları bu amaçla yola çıkmış bir çalışmanın ürünüdür. 2018 Kasım ayında İstanbul’da gerçekleştirilen Engellilik Araştırmaları Konferansı’nın teması Türkiye’de engelliliğin tarihsel, kurumsal, hukuksal ve sosyo-kültürel açıdan incelenmesi hedef alınarak, Dünden Bugüne Engellilik olarak belirlenmişti. Bu konferansta düzenlenen çeşitli panellerde Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’ndan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’ne uzanan geniş bir tarihsel süreç içinde eğitim, istihdam, sosyal yaşam, edebiyat, din gibi alanlarda engellilik konusunda araştırma sonuçları ve bildiriler sunuldu. Ayrıca, Türkiye’de fiziksel tıp ve rehabilitasyonun, özel eğitimin, engellilikle ilgili politikaları oluşturan ve yürüten kurumların tarihsel süreçleri, ilgili konuların uzmanları olan öğretim üyeleri ve bürokratlar tarafından aktarıldı. Engelli hakları ve savunuculuk konusunda sivil toplumdaki hareketlilik 2000 yılı öncesi ve sonrasında faaliyet gösteren önemli sivil toplum örgütü temsilcilerinin yer aldığı panellerde tartışıldı. Bu konferansta sunulan araştırmalardan bazıları ve konferansta sunulmamış olmakla birlikte konuya doğrudan katkı sunabilecek diğer araştırmalar Engellilik Tarihi Yazıları’nda bir araya getirildi. Böylelikle, Türkiye’de henüz yeni gelişmekte olan engellilik tarihi çalışmaları alanında ilk safhada izlenen yaklaşımları ve yapılan araştırmaları görmeyi mümkün kılan ilk derlemenin araştırmacılara sunulması hedeflendi.

The application section examines the quality of life of international students, a fragile population group who’ve experienced various disadvantages during the COVID-19 global health crisis. As a matter of fact, each international student provides human capital at the global level, and serves to construct an incorruptible and inexhaustible value in shaping a future that concerns all of humanity.     Description: In 1993 Michael Wachtel published Ivanov’s Russian Faust, comprising two scenes that appear to continue Goethe’s Faust and most likely represent the beginnings of a Faust drama. Ivanov was the first Russian poet to reevaluate the second part of Goethe’s poem for its extremely symbolic content. As a result, he was considerably influenced by Goethe’s creative experience. This article examines these two Faustian scenes and, more generally, the influence of Goethe’s Faust in Ivanov’s work; adopting a comparative approach, we explore the assimilation into Russian literature of a Central European myth.

    Description: In Making Martyrs: The Language of Sacrifice in Russian Culture from Stalin to Putin, Yuliya Minkova examines the language of canonization and vilification in Soviet and post-Soviet media, official literature, and popular culture. She argues that early Soviet narratives constructed stories of national heroes and villains alike as examples of uncovering a person's "true self." The official culture used such stories to encourage heroic self-fashioningamong Soviet youth and as a means of self-policing and censure. Later Soviet narratives maintained this sacrificial imagery in order to assert the continued hold of Soviet ideology on society, while post-Soviet discourses of victimhood appeal to nationalist nostalgia. Sacrificial mythology continues to maintain a persistent hold in contemporary culture, as evidenced most recently by the Russian intelligentsia's fascination with the former oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the Russian media coverage of the war in Ukraine, laws against US adoption of Russian children and against the alleged propaganda of homosexuality aimed at minors, renewed national pride in wartime heroes, and the current usage of the words "sacred victim" in public discourse. In examining these various cases, the book traces the trajectory of sacrificial language from individual identity construction to its later function of lending personality and authority to the Soviet and post-Soviet state.

    Description: A state's ability to maintain mandatory conscription and wage war rests on the idea that a "real man" is one who has served in the military. Yet masculinity has no inherent ties to militarism. The link between men and the military, argues Maya Eichler, must be produced and reproduced in order to fill the ranks, engage in combat, and mobilize the population behind war. In the context of Russia's post-communist transition and the Chechen wars, men's militarization has been challenged and reinforced. Eichler uncovers the challenges by exploring widespread draft evasion and desertion, anti-draft and anti-war activism led by soldiers' mothers, and the general lack of popular support for the Chechen wars. However, the book also identifies channels through which militarized gender identities have been reproduced. Eichler's empirical and theoretical study of masculinities in international relations applies for the first time the concept of "militarized masculinity," developed by feminist IR scholars, to the case of Russia.

    Description: The monograph focuses on a special type of collocations–Support, or Light, Verb Constructions (SVCs). SVCs consist of a semantically reduced verb together with a noun (as the direct object or embedded in a prepositional phrase) that conveys core lexical meaning to the combination. SVCs often vary cross-linguistically, with languages using different strategies to conceptualize the same denotative situations. This study in line with the principles of the Integrated Contrastive Model, aims firstly to offer a corpus-driven contrastive cognitive-semantic description of SVCs in Russian and Italian based on the Construction Grammar model; and secondly to conduct a Contrastive Interlanguage Analysis of the use of Russian SVCs by Italian-speaking students. The findings of this study, in addition to its theoretical significance, may be useful in teaching Russian as a foreign language and could be of interest for lexicography.
