    Notes: The crystal structure of pentamethylcyclopentadienyllithium, [Li(C10H15)] (LiCp*), has been determined from a high-resolution powder pattern by modelling and the maximum entropy method (MEM). The compound crystallizes in space group R3m with lattice parameters a = b = 14.7711 (5), c = 3.82206 (6) Å and V = 722.19 (4) Å3 (Z = 3). LiCp* forms polymeric `multidecker' chains along the c axis. The pentamethylcyclopentadienyl anions are coplanar with each other and show threefold rotational disorder. The MEM calculations did not only confirm the structural model and the type of disorder, but also discovered additional symmetry compared with the Rietveld analysis. This is the first solid-state structure of a Lewis-base-free alkali metal Cp* compound.

The iron complex (diphenylfulvene)Fe2 (CO)5, so far only available in 0.4% yield, is now easily available in 45% yield by exchange of the fulvene ligand from (diphenylfulvene)(CH3C5H4) Mn(CO)2 (1e) to Fe2 (CO)9.
    Notes: Tricarbonyl(cyclopentadienyl)mangan reagiert photochemisch mit Fulvenen (I-V) zu Gemischen von ein- und zweikernigen Verbindungen (1-3), bei denen eine oder beide Ringdoppelbindungen an eine C5H5Mn(CO)2-Einheit koordiniert sind. Der bisher nur in 0.4 proz. Ausbeute isolierbare Eisenkomplex (Diphenylfulven)Fe2 (CO)5 wurde durch Übertragung des Fulvenliganden von (Diphenylfulven)(CH3C5H4)Mn(CO)2 (1e) auf Fe2 (CO)9 in 45% Ausbeute zugänglich.

Crystal and Molecular Structure of Tetraphenylphosphonium Tris(tellurophenolato)mercurate(II)The structure of the title compound 1c has been determined from single crystal X-ray data and refined to an R-value of 0.049 using 3509 symmetry-independent reflections. 1c crystallizes in the space group P21/c, and has an ionic structure with isolated cations and anions. In the trigonale planar anion [Hg(TePh)3]-, the ligands have a propeller-like arangement about the central Hg-atom. The mean Hg-Te distance is 269.7 pm.
    Notes: Die Struktur der Titelverbindung 1c wurde aus Diffraktometer-Einkristalldaten bestimmt und für 3509 symmetrieunabhängige Reflexe zu einem R-Wert von 0.049 verfeinert. 1c kristallisiert in der Raumgruppe P21/c und besitzt eine salzartige Struktur mit isolierten Kationen und Anionen. Im trigonal ebenen Anion [Hg(TePh)3]- sind die Liganden propellerartig um das zentrale Hg-Atom angeordnet. Der mittlere Hg—Te-Abstand beträgt 269.7 pm.

Carbonyl Metal Complexes with Dimeric Fulvene LigandsThe synthesis and structure of four complexes (3a, 7, 9, 10) with dimeric fulvene ligands are reported. The compounds are formed in low yields by reaction of unsubstituted fulvene with Fe2(CO)9 (3a), of 6,6-diethylfulvene with Fe2(CO)9 (7), and of 6,6-bis(methylthio)fulvene with (CH3CN)3Mo(CO)3 (9 and 10), respectively. Moreover the structure of dimeric dimethylfulvene (11) has been determined by X-ray diffraction.
    Notes: Es wird über die Synthese und Struktur von vier Komplexen (3a, 7, 9, 10) mit dimeren Fulvenliganden berichtet. Die Verbindungen entstehen in geringer Ausbeute bei der Reaktion von unsubstituiertem Fulven mit Fe2(CO)9 (3a), von 6,6-Diethylfulven mit Fe2(CO)9 (7) bzw. von 6,6-Bis(methylthio)fulven mit (CH3CN)3Mo(CO)3 (9 und 10). Zusätzlich wurde die Struktur des dimeren Dimethylfulvens (11) röntgenographisch bestimmt.

    Notes: Stabilization of Uranium(IV) Alkyls by Bulky Chelating Ligands: Molecular Structure of [PhC(NSiMe3)2]3UMeChelate ligand-stabilized uranium σ-methyl complexes are obtained in good yields by treatment of [RC6H4C-(NSiMe3)2]3UCl (1) with methyllithium. The molecular structure of [PhC(NSiMe3)2]3UMe (3a) has been determined by X-ray crystallography. A long uranium - carbon bond [249.8(5) pm] indicates steric crowding in the molecule. Analogously the dimethyluranium complex [(CF3)3C6H2C(NSiMe3)2]2UMe2 (4b) is prepared from [(CF3)3C6H2C(NSiMe3)2]2UCl2 and two equivalents of methyllithium. Reaction of 1 with NaBH4 yields the tetrahydroborates [RC6H4C(NSiMe3)2]3UBH4 (5). The strongly temperature-dependent 1H-NMR spectra of the complexes 1 and 3 have been studied in detail.

Tricarbonyl Fulvene and Tricarbonyl Cyclopentadienyl Complexes of Molybdenum and TungstenIn contrast to the reaction of fulvenes with (CH3CN)3Cr(CO)3, which leads to pure (fulvene)Cr- (CO)3 complexes, the reaction of L3M(CO)3 [L3 = 3 CH3CN, diglyme; M = Mo, W] with fulvenes gives a mixture of (fulvene)M(CO)3 (2) and substituted dimeric (cyclopentadienyl)2M2-(CO)6 complexes (3) difficult to separate. The structure of bis(η5-benzhydrylcyclopentadienyl)- hexacarbonyldimolybdenum (3a) has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The (fulvene)Mo-(CO)3 complex 4 reacts with tertiary phosphanes and methylenetriphenylphosphorane to give the zwitterionic addition products 5 and 6.
    Notes: Im Gegensatz zu Reaktion von Fulvenen mit (CH3CN)3Cr(CO)3, die zu reinen (Fulven)Cr-(CO)3-Komplexen führen, gibt die Umsetzung von L3M(CO)3 [L3 = 3 CH3CN, diglyme; M = Mo, W] mit Fulvenen eine Mischung aus (Fulven)M(CO)3 (2) und substituierten dimeren (Cyclopentadienyl)2M2(CO)6-Komplexen (3), die schwierig zu trennen ist. Die Struktur des Bis(η5-benzhydrylcyclopentadienyl)hexacarbonyldimolybdäns (3a) wurde röntgenographisch bestimmt. Der (Fulven)Mo(CO)3-Komplex 4 reagiert mit tertiären Phosphanen und Methylentriphenylphosphoran zu den zwitterionischen Additionsprodukten 5 und 6.
