Notizen:
Summary The Caricetum firmae s. l. of Carnic Alps (Southeastern Alps- Italy) has been studied. It may be ascribed to the southern geographical race of theGentiana terglouensis - Caricetum firmae T. Wraber, 1970, described for Julian Alps. According to the results of a non-centered principal component analysis the association of the Carnic Alps may be divided into two subassociations: one withMinuartia gerardii of higher zones, exposed to the South, and the other one withDryas octopetala in lower zones, exposed to the North. Some variants and subvariants are distinguished. Regarding the diffusion ofCarex firma it is stressed that the maximal cover of the species doesn't coincide with the maximal percentage of the considered characteristic species of the association. It appears that the maximal cover is reached in the subassociation withDryas octopetala, where there is a high number of species characteristic of alliance and order, but preferential of theSeslerio-Sempervirentetum. However in unpublished relevés of theSeslerio-Sempervirentetum, in which such species are always present, the lower average cover ofCarex firma was found. This fact allows the conclusion thatCarex firma, has a superior limit due to physical factors and an inferior one due to competition of species of theSeslerio-Sempervirentetum.
