    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Das Epithel des Saccus vasculosus des Flußbarsches Perca fluviatilis besteht aus Krönchenzellen, bipolaren Liquorkontaktneuronen (Zahlenverhältnis etwa 4∶1) und Stützzellen. Im Bereich des Saccus kommen Macrophagen vor. Die Krönchenzellen wurden unter verschiedenen Fixierungsbedingungen untersucht. Die Globuli enthalten schlauchförmige Zisternen, die nicht mit den Zisternen des Zellapex in Verbindung stehen. Im Zytoplasma des Zellapex und der Globuli wird bei langdauernder OsO4-Imprägnation Osmium gebunden. Die Krönchenzellen werden basal von Ausläufern der Stützzellen unterlagert. Sie werden nicht innerviert und entsenden keine Axone. Die bipolaren Neurone sind durch einen im Liquor endigenden Dendriten und ein Axon gekennzeichnet, das in eines der Faserbündel des Epithels eintritt. Der Dendrit trägt 1 bis 2 Zilien. Die Zelle ist reich an Vesikeln und kann am Perikaryon wie an den Ausläufern Synapsen tragen. Im extrazellulären Raum um die Neurone und in vesikulären Strukturen des Apex wird Acetylcholinesterase nachgewiesen. Der Nervus sacci vasculosi dürfte nur afferente Axone von Liquorkontaktneuronen und efferente Fasern, die diese innervieren, enthalten.
    Notes: Summary The epithelium of the Saccus vasculosus of Perca fluviatilis consists of coronet cells and bipolar liquor contact neurones in a 4∶1 ratio, and supporting cells. The organ also contains macrophages. The coronet cells have been studied after different kinds of fixation. The globules of these cells contain tubelike cisternae, which do not connect with cisternae in the cell's apical protrusion. The cytoplasm of the apical protrusion and to a greater extent of the globules, is stained by longlasting OsO4-impregnation. The coronet cells have no direct contact with the basement membrane of the organ. They are neither innervated nor have axons. The dendrites of the bipolar nerve cells end with a bulbous structure protruding into the cerebrospinal fluid. The dendrites contain vesicles and each bears 1–2 cilia. The axons join the fiber bundles of the epithelium. There are synaptic contacts on the surface of the neurons and their processes. In some vesicular structures within the apices and more conspicuously within the extracellular space around these cells indications of acetylcholinesterase activity are found. It appears that the nervus sacci vasculosi contains only afferent axons of the bipolar liquor-contact neurons and efferent fibres which form synaptic contacts with these neurons.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung 1. Der Test auf alkalische Phosphatasen fällt an der Epitheloberfläche des Saccus vasculosus negativ aus. Mit Hilfe der ZnIO-Methode lassen sich außer synaptischen Vesikeln zahlreiche cytoplasmatische Bestandteile des Saccusepithels imprägnieren. 2. Der Nervus sacci vasculosi (N.s.v.) von Perca setzt sich aus drei Bestandteilen zusammen: 1. einem afferenten System, das von den bipolaren Liquorkontaktneuronen des Epithels kommend in the Hypothalamus zieht, 2. einem efferenten System, das diese Neurone innerviert und Synapsen an Axon, Dendrit und Perikaryon bilden kann und 3. einem weiteren efferenten System, das am Rande des N.s.v. sowie der Faserbündel des Epithels den umhüllenden Gliazellen zugewandt endet. 3. Nach seinem Eintritt in den Hypothalamus spaltet sich der N.s.v. in Stränge auf. Diese bestehen aus dicht gepackten Axonen, die von synapsentragenden dendritischen Fasern durchsetzt werden. 4. Die synaptischen bzw. synaptoiden Kontakte des Saccusepithels sowie des Nervus und des ventralen Tractusabschnittes des Hypothalamus wurden mit cytochemischen Methoden näher gekennzeichnet. ZnIO-Imprägnation bzw. prolongierte Osmierung schwärzen die kleinen hellen Vesikel. Die Bi-I und die E-PTA-Methode demonstrieren deutliche Unterschiede zwischen den Kontakttypen. Dem Neuron-Glia-Kontakt fehlt ein „postsynaptisches“ Band, obwohl präsynaptische „dense projections“ in hexagonaler Anordnung vorhanden sind. Die elektronendichte (Doppel-) Linie im Spaltraum gleicht den Strukturen bei gewöhnlicher Membranapposition. Die Möglichkeit einer Sekretabgabe aus diesen synaptoiden Endigungen in den inneren und den äußeren Liquorraum wird diskutiert.
    Notes: Summary 1. The epithelial surface of the saccus vasculosus fails to react to the cytological test for non-specific alkaline phosphatase. In addition to synaptic vesicles, the zinc iodide osmium (ZnIO) method permits the impregnation of numerous cytoplasmic elements of the saccus epithelium. 2. The nervus sacci vasculosi (n.s.v.) of Perca apparently consists of one afferent and two efferent systems. The afferent systems leads from the bipolar neurons contacting the cerebro-spinal fluid (csf-contact neurons) to the hypothalamus. One efferent system innervates these bipolar neurons and forms synapses with their axons, perikarya and dendrites. The other efferent system terminates on the glial cells at the surface of the n.s.v. and also of the fiber bundles within the epithelium. 3. After entering the hypothalamus the n.s.v. separates into tracts consisting of densely packed axons and dendritic fibers with synapses. 4. Both synaptic and synaptoid contacts of the saccus epithelium, in the nerve and in the ventral tracts of the hypothalamus were examined cytochemically. The small electronlucent vesicles become black with ZnIO impregnation and also with prolonged exposure to OsO4. The Bi-I and E-PTA methods clearly distinguish the types of contact. The neuronglia contact shows “presynaptic” dense projections in the usual hexagonal array. However, a “postsynaptic” band is lacking and the intracleft line is poorly developed resembling that of conventional membrane appositions. These synaptoid terminals may have secretory function with respect to the ventricular and leptomeningeal cerebrospinal fluid.

    Notes: The technique of fluorescence labelling has been applied for the determination of functional groups on plasma and chromic acid-modified polymer surfaces. Various fluorescence dyes were coupled to carboxyl, carbonyl, hydroxyl and amino groups. It was found that fluorescence labelling is a very sensitive tool for quantitative determination of the surface chemical structure of polymers.

    Description / Table of Contents: The thermooxydative stability of block copolyetheresters of ethylene and butylene terephthalate with polyethyleneoxide diol with and without addition of antioxydants was investigated by DTA and TG under anisothermic and isothermic conditions. The differences in the temperatures of the beginning and the intensity of an exotherm enthalpy effect as well as the differences in weight loss allow to estimate the stabilizing effect. Comparative investigations on the long time thermal stability resulted in equal values for the decrease in strength of shaped bodies and the induction period in thermoanalytic measurements.
    Notes: Die thermooxidative Stabilität von Blockcopolyetherestern des Ethylen-bzw. Butylenterphthalates mit Polyethylenoxiddiol mit und ohne Zusatz von Antioxidantien wurde durch DTA und TG unter anisothermen und isothermen Bedingungen untersucht. Die Unterschiede in der Temperatur des Beginns und in der Intensität eines exothermen Enthalpieeffektes sowie der unterschiedliche Masseverlust ermöglichen eine Beurteilung der Stabilisatorwirksamkeit. Vergleichende Untersuchungen zur Dauerwärmebeständigkeit ergaben für die Festigkeitsabnahme von Formkörpern und die Induktionsperiode bei thermoanalytischen Messungen übereinstimmende Werte.

    Notes: Cells of mammalian origin as well as those of higher plants appear to be very sensitive to triethyllead ion (Et3Pb+). Neuroblastoma cells kept in the presence of 1 μM Et3Pb+ lost their viability within 6 h. Growth of suspension culture cells of soybean (G. max(L.)Merr.) was inhibited by 1 μM Et3Pb+, and finally the cells died. Morphologically, Et3Pb+ caused the complete breakdown of microtubular structures in neuroblastoma cells; thus microtubules appeared to be the main target for the toxin. While in a previous study the effect of Et3Pb+ on microtubules has been well documented at concentrations of 50-200 μM1, the present study demonstrates that the formation of microtubules from pig brain tubulin is disturbed at concentrations of Et3Pb+ as low as 0.5 to 1 μM. We conclude from these data that Et3Pb+ freely permeates the plasma membranes of mammalian as well as plant cells.

    Description / Table of Contents: As a prerequisite for investigations on thermal stability of PVC the content of isolated and conjugated double bonds as well as keto chloroallylic groups were evaluated. The influence of this anomalous structures in PVC on stability was investigated by isothermal and non-isothermal measurements of the rate of dehydrochlorination. The results indicate that only keto chloroallylic groups cause an effective increase of the rate of initiation.
    Notes: Als wesentliche Voraussetzung für Untersuchungen zur thermischen Stabilität von PVC wurde der Gehalt an isolierten und konjugierten Doppelbindungen sowie Ketochlorallylgruppen quantitativ bestimmt. Die Beurteilung des Einflusses dieser Defektstrukturen der Polymerkette erfolgte durch Messung des Dehydrochlorierungsverlaufes unter isothermen und nichtisothermen Bedingungen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, daß lediglich Ketochlorallylgruppen effektiv eine erhöhte Initiierungsgeschwindigkeit bewirken.
