    Notes: Es konnte festgestellt werden, daß alle untersuchten Salze, ob Chloride oder Sulfate, verzögernd auf den Prozeß wirken. Die Unterschiede in der verzögernden Wirkung der einzelnen Salze ist zum großen Teil durch spezifische Kationenwirkung bedingt. Es ergibt sich folgende Reihe der fallenden Beeinflussung: \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ {\rm HCl 〉 AlCl}_{\rm 3} {\rm } \gg {\rm NiCl}_{\rm 2} {\rm } = {\rm CoCl}_{\rm 2} {\rm } = {\rm MnCl}_{\rm 2} {\rm } \gg {\rm ZnC1}_{\rm 2} {\rm } \gg {\rm MgCl}_{\rm 2} {\rm 〉 CaCl}_{\rm 2} {\rm 〉 SrCl}_{\rm 2} {\rm 〉 BaCl}_{\rm 2} {\rm } \gg {\rm NaCl } = {\rm NH}_{\rm 4} {\rm Cl 〉 KCl 〉 H}_{\rm 2} {\rm O}{\rm .} $$\end{document}

    Description: The successful landing of human beings on Mars and the establishment of a permanent outpost there will require an understanding of the Martian environment by the engineers. A key feature of the Martian environment is the nearly ubiquitous presence of sand and dust. The process which the engineering community will undertake to determine the sensitivities of their designs to the current level of knowledge about Mars sand and dust is emphasized. The interaction of the engineering community with the space exploration initiative (SEI) mission planners and management is described.

    Description: NASA environmental models are discussed with particular attention given to the Mars Global Reference Atmospheric Model (Mars-GRAM) and the Mars Terrain simulator. The Mars-GRAM model takes into account seasonal, diurnal, and surface topography and dust storm effects upon the atmosphere. It is also capable of simulating appropriate random density perturbations along any trajectory path through the atmosphere. The Mars Terrain Simulator is a software program that builds pseudo-Martian terrains by layering the effects of geological processes upon one another. Output pictures of the constructed surfaces can be viewed from any vantage point under any illumination conditions. Attention is also given to the document 'Environment of Mars, 1988' in which scientific models of the Martian atmosphere and Martian surface are presented.
