    Description: This paper aims to identify the relationship among energy consumption, FDI, and economic development in China from 1993 to 2017, taking Zhejiang as an example. FDI is the main factor of the rapid development of Zhejiang’s open economy, which promotes the development of the economy, but also leads to the growth in energy consumption. Based on the time series data of energy consumption, FDI inflow, and GDP in Zhejiang from 1993 to 2017, we choose the vector auto-regression (VAR) model and try to identify the relationship among energy consumption, FDI, and economic development. The results indicate that there is a long-run equilibrium relationship among them. The FDI inflow promotes energy consumption, and the energy consumption promotes FDI inflow in turn. FDI promotes economic growth indirectly through energy consumption. Therefore, improving the quality of FDI and energy efficiency has become an inevitable choice to achieve the transition of Zhejiang’s economy from high speed growth to high quality growth.

    Description: Lithium-ion polymer batteries currently are the most popular vehicle onboard electric energy storage systems ranging from the 12 V/24 V starting, lighting, and ignition (SLI) battery to the high-voltage traction battery pack in hybrid and electric vehicles. The operating temperature has a significant impact on the performance, safety, and cycle lifetime of lithium-ion batteries. It is essential to quantify the heat generation and temperature distribution of a battery cell, module, and pack during different operating conditions. In this paper, the transient temperature distributions across a battery module consisting of four series-connected lithium-ion polymer battery cells are measured under various charging and discharging currents. A battery thermal model, correlated with the experimental data, is built in the module-level in the ANSYS/Fluent platform. This validated module thermal model is then extended to a pack thermal model which contains four parallel-connected modules. The temperature distributions on the battery pack model are simulated under 40 A, 60 A, and 80 A constant discharge currents. An air-cool thermal management system is integrated with the battery pack model to ensure the operating temperature and temperature gradient within the optimal range. This paper could provide thermal management design guideline for the lithium-ion polymer battery pack.

    Description: In some hazardous or inaccessible applications, such as earthquake rescue, as a substitute for mankind, robots are expected to perform missions reliably. Unfortunately, the failure of components is difficult to avoid due to the complexity of robot composition and the interference of the environment. Thus, improving the reliability of robots is a crucial problem. The hexapod robot has redundant degrees of freedom due to its multiple joints, making it possible to tolerate the failure of one leg. In this paper, the Fault-Tolerant Tripod (F-TT) gait dealing with the failure of one leg is researched. The Denavit–Hartenberg (D-H) method is exploited to establish a kinematic model for the hexapod robot, the Jacobian matrix is analyzed, and it is proved that the body can be controlled when three legs are supported. Then, an F-TT gait phase sequence planning method based on a stability margin is established, and a method to improve stability is proposed. The trajectory for the center of gravity (COG) and foot is studied. Finally, a simulation model and prototype robot experiments are developed, and the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified.

    Description: The development of new bioelectronic platforms for direct interactions with oral fluid could open up significant opportunities for healthcare monitoring. A tongue depressor is a widely used medical tool that is inserted into the mouth, where it comes into close contact with saliva. Glucose is a typical salivary biomarker. Herein, we report—for the first time—a tongue depressor-based biosensor for the detection of glucose in both phosphate buffer and real human saliva. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are attractive electronic materials, with excellent electrochemical properties. The sensor is constructed by printing CNTs and silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) to form three electrodes in an electrochemical cell: Working, reference, and counter electrodes. The enzyme glucose oxidase (GOD) is immobilized on the working electrode. The glucose detection performance of the sensor is excellent, with a detection range of 7.3 μM to 6 mM. The glucose detection time is about 3 min. The discretion between healthy people’s and simulated diabetic patients’ salivary samples is clear and easy to tell. We anticipate that the biosensor could open up new opportunities for the monitoring of salivary biomarkers and advance healthcare applications.
