Pyridine-2-(acetic acid methyl ester) (PEM) reacts with Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn salts yielding stable 1,2 complexes. From IR and conductivity measurements it is concluded that in some of these compounds PEM behaves as a bidentate chelating ligand bound with the carbon ester group, too, coordinatively to the central metal atom. In the case of Cu(II), a complex with Cu: PEM: Cl = 2:2:3 is described. The structures of the compounds are discussed.

Pyridin-(2)-essigsäuremethylester (PEM) bildet mit Kupfer (II)-, Kobalt(II)-, Nickel(II)- und Zink(II)-Salzen stabile 1,2-Komplexe. Aus IR-Spektren und Leitfähigkeitsmessungen in Acetonitril geht hervor, daß in einigen dieser Verbindungen die Carbonestergruppierung koordinativ an das Zentralatom gebunden ist, und PEM somit den Charakter eines zweizähnigen Chelatliganden besitzt. Vom Kupfer(II) wird ein Komplex beschrieben, der Metallionen, PEM und Chloridionen im Verhältnis 2:2:3 enthält. Die Struktur der dargestellten Verbindungen wird diskutiert.
