Description / Table of Contents:
Contrary to the statements of Kolditz and Bauer(1), it is found that the thermal decomposition of alkali metal oxalatofluoroberyllates yields no carbonatofluoro- and oxofluoroberyllate, but fluoroberyllate, oxalate and BeO at 400°C under evolution of CO2 and CO. At higher temperatures the oxalate is decomposed, too, and the resulting carbonate reacts with the fluoroberyllate forming fluoride and BeO. In the case of the K salt, at 500-800°C potassium beryllate is formed by hydrolysis of KF. The results on the paperchromatographic behaviour, reported in(1) are corrected.
Notes:
