The polarographic behaviour of the abovementioned phosphorus salts at a dropping mercury electrode is investigated. No reduction can be observed in aqueous solution. However, in anhydrous glycerol containing phenol as a proton donor, well-formed reduction waves for each of the anions listed are obtained. Their heights depend on the concentrations of the salts. The behaviour of several known depolarizing agents such as H+, TI+, and fumaric acid in anhydrous glycerol is also investigated.

Es wird das Verhalten der Salze NaH2PO2 · H2O, NaH2PO3 · 2,5 H2O, Na2HPO3 · 5 H2O, Na2HPO4 · 2 H2O, Na3PO4 · 6 H2O, Na2H2P2O5, Na3HP2O5 · 6 H2O, Na2H2P2O6 · 6 H2O, Na3HP2O6 · 8 H2O und Na2H2P2O7 · 6 H2O an der Quecksilbertropf-Elektrode untersucht. Während in wäßriger Lösung keine Reduktionsstufen zu beobachten sind, werden in wasserfreiem Glycerin in Gegenwart von Phenol als Protonendonator gut ausgebildete, konzentrationsabhängige Depolarisationsstufen erhalten, die für die Reduktion der betreffenden Anionen charakteristisch sind, und deren Eigenschaften im einzelnen diskutiert werden. Außerdem wird das Verhalten von einigen bekannten Depolarisatoren, wie H+, Tl+ und Fumarsäure, in wasserfreiem Glycerin untersucht.
