Abstract The trimethylsilylesters of acetoacetic acid (4), monoethylmalonate (5), and malonic acid (6) are prepared. The reaction of the lithium-compounds of these silylesters with the mixed anhydrides of carboxylic acids with ethyl carbonate yields after a short treatment with water β-ketoesters and acetyl-acyl-methanes. Conditions for this reaction are: nonpolar solvent, absence of soluted lithium salts, and short reaction time. Under contrary conditions5 and6 yield by carbon-diacylation in a one-step reaction diacyl-acetic esters and diacyl-methanes. The mechanism of the formation of diacyl-acetic esters from5 and anhydrides is studied. By means of these new silylester syntheses 3,5,7-trioxooctanoic acid 3-ethylenhemithioketal (20), ethyl 3,5,7-trioxooctanoate 3-ethylenhemithioketal (19), tetra-acetic lacton β-ethylenhemithioketal (21), and 2,4,6,8-tetraoxononane-2,8-bis-(ethylenhemithioketal)_ (22) are prepared.
