Notes: Abstract The macroeconomic model of an irregular economy proposed by B. Contini, F. Cugno and M. Galeotti (1984) is extended by increasing the number of state variables and thus the dimension of the phase space for the relative dynamical system. By showing, through standard Liapunov methods, the non existence of closed non trivial orbits, the global attractivity of the equilibrium set is proved, under suitable boundary conditions. Control policies leading the economy to a desired equilibrium state are seen to be feasible, and ≪central≫ instruments which appear to be effective in this respect are briefly discussed.

Notes: We study three different versions of the Kaldor's 1940 Business-Cycle Model (13, and we show that they can all be reduced, through suitable changes of variables, to a planar dynamical system of Lienard-type.By applying a classical result due to A. Filippov (8) and a quite recent theorem of the Chinese mathematician Zhang Zhi Fen (19, it is easily proved that our systems present a unique attracting limit-cycle encircling the only existing equilibrium. Our analysis does not require any extra hypothesis regarding the symmetry of the investment and saving functions, except the «classical» ones and those needed to reducing the system to Lienard form.It extends, so far, a few previous results obtained by H.W. Lorenz (16) on the very same model.

Notes: Abstract The extension of synthesis techniques to spectroscopy is examined. The geometric efficiency of a spectrometer from the point of view of the redundancy of the measure is studied. Experimental results are shown.

Notes: Abstract The aim of this paper is to describe a new approach to building minimal and perfect hash functions for a predefined set of keys. Several papers have dealt with this problem and proposed various kinds of functions. This study is based on a function whose address depends both on the letter codes and the letter position in the key, and therefore represents an extension of Cichelli's function. The weights associated with the position are considered to be fixed, and letter code computing is considered to be an interpolation problem. As a result, hash building only requires the solution of an algebraic linear system and then the time complexity is polynomialO(n 3).

Notes: The stiffness matrix of a beam made of composite superconductor elements is derived. The effects of friction between conductors through the insulation layers are taken into account. Furthermore, the effects of strand transposition of the wires, already studied by the authors, are included in the model. Some applications of the proposed approach to superconductor layouts proposed for the NET (Next European Torus) toroidal and poloidal field coils are shown. These indicate that the effects of slip are not negligible and should be taken into account in a more reliable structural analysis of the coil system. Parametric studies with varying width and heights of the insulation layer have been also carried out and the corresponding diagrams are shown here.
