Notes:
Summary The system silica gel and heptane/methylene chloride has been optimized, so that fuel oil samples up to 250 μl can be directly applied without any pretreatment. Ten minutes are required for a total analysis. The evaluation is most favourably done via the peak area according to the technique of the external standard. The relative standard deviation of the peak areas amounts to about 1.5%. In case of labelling with a single dyestuff, 1l of fuel oil can be detected in 50 l Diesel fuel, employing a 20 μl sample. In case of labelling with the mixture DN 25, 1 l may be detected in 20 l Diesel fuel. The limit of detection can be improved by a factor of 10, if a sample volume of 250 μl is employed. This, however, results in a too high load on the column, involving larger errors in peak area determination and longer duration of the analysis.
