Notes: In the reliability-based analysis of mechanical joints, as each factor has different effect onthe failure of mechanical joints, the effects of design parameters on reliability of the mechanicaljoints are determined with the reliability-based sensitivity analysis method. Furthermore, thereliability of mechanical joints can be effectively designed. As a matter of fact, if a change of acertain random parameter has great effect on the reliability of mechanical joints, the parameter mustbe strictly controlled in the course of design and manufacture to ensure reliability. Whereas if achange of a certain random parameter has unobvious effect on the reliability of mechanical joints, itcan be treated as a deterministic value to reduce the complexity of the analysis. In this paper, basedon the reliability design theory, the sensitivity analysis method and the fourth moment technique, the reliability sensitivity of the mechanical joints with arbitrary distribution parameters isextensively discussed and a numerical method for reliability sensitivity design is presented. Thevariation regularities of reliability sensitivity are obtained and the effects of design parameters onreliability of the mechanical joints are studied. The method presented in this paper providesreasonable and necessary reliability basis for the design, manufacture, use and evaluation of themechanical joints

Notes: On the basis of the Bouc-Wen hysteretic model, a numerical method for the reliabilityanalysis of stochastic multi-degree-of-freedom hysteretic system with correlated failure modes ispresented. Under the first passage model, considering the random caused by hysteretic loop itself, the theory of incomplete probability information and the fourth-moment technique and GramCharlier series are employed to develop a numerical reliability analysis method systematically. Thenumerical example reveals that in most of cases, though system is characterized by a set ofindependent random parameters, the responses are strongly correlated, and correlation coefficientbetween the responses is fluctuated with time. The system reliability with correlated failure modesis evaluated with proposed method, and the result obtained by this method is compared well withthe Monte-Carlo simulations

Notes: In this paper, the variation rules of strength, load, reliability and failure rate of mechanicalcomponents are studied with time, and a state equation model for dynamic reliability of mechanicalcomponents is established under random load. Meanwhile, reliability index is obtained by usingSecond moment method and perturbation method. Based on the reliability design theory andsensitivity analysis method, torsion-bar is taken as an example, and the dynamic reliability sensitivityof torsion-bar is extensively discussed and a computing method is presented for dynamic reliabilitysensitivity design. The variation rules of dynamic reliability sensitivity are obtained and the effects ofdesign parameters on reliability of torsion-bar are studied. As a result, the proposed method providestheoretical basis for reliability design of torsion bar

Notes: The rubbing phenomenon occurs when a rotating element eventually hits a stationary partof the rotating machinery. Increasing the rotor speed and decreasing the radial clearance between therotating and the non-rotating parts can enhance the performance of the rotating machinery. This leadsto an increased risk of rubbing contact. Rotor rubbing is the source of numerous different phenomena, for example sub- and super-harmonic vibrations, amplitude jumps and rotor instability. So thereliability analysis and sensitivity analysis of rotor system with rubbing is important for designpurposes. Reliability analysis can help the designer to establish acceptable tolerance on rotor system.Sensitivity analysis can help the designer to know which problem in rotor system with rubbing isbeing solved and how the solution may affect the design of rotor system for system correction andreanalysis. On the basis of the dynamic equations of the cracked rotor system model and withconsideration of the random parameters including shaft stiffness and damping, disk damping, radialclearance and stator radial stiffness, the random responses of cracked rotor system are researched. Thereliability and sensitivity analysis of the cracked rotor system with rubbing are studied. According tothe discretization of random process and stress-strength interference theory, the transient reliabilitymodel of cracked rotor system with rubbing is proposed. The reliability for rubbing in cracked rotorsystem is obtained by way of statistical fourth moment method, Edgeworth series technique and firstpassage theory. Numerical results are also presented and discussed

Notes: Positron annihilation technology and simulation analyses are used to investigate the dopedYBCO. The results suggest that Co ionic cluster effect is stronger than Al in YBCO. The cluster effectnot only causes the local electron density to reach the saturation, but also suppresses thesuperconductivity significantly

Notes: One of the important factors resulting in the high-speed machinery performance is itsmachine tool dynamic characteristic. It will directly influence the final manufacturing capability of the machinery and it is also the important criterion of evaluating machinery performances. Especially, the dynamic characteristic of spindle assembly has large effect on manufacturing capability of machinery. So it is very important both analyzing dynamic-static characteristic of the spindle assembly and machine tool of high-speed machinery and studying the effect to machinery function. Using Finite Element Analysis software did a Finite Element Analysis of spindle assembly of the high-speed machine tool, and some experiments are done to validate the result the Finite Element Analysis results

Notes: The failure analysis of uncertain multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) nonlinear vibrationsystems with uncorrelated failure modes subjected to random excitation is examined. An earlierversion of the statistical fourth-moment method is extended to vector-valued and matrix-valuedfunctions and is developed to determine the first four moments of the system response and statefunction. Random variables and system derivatives are conveniently arranged into 2D matrices bymeans of Kronecker products. The distribution function of the system state function isapproximately determined by the standard normal distribution functions using Edgeworth seriestechnique and its failure probability is obtained. The method is based on matrix calculus. Kroneckeralgebra is used in the mathematical development
