Notes: The load capacity and stiffness of the aerostatic rectangular guideways, which applyannular orifice restrictor and porous restrictor respectively, were analyzed with finite differencemethod in this paper. A program for solving the pressure distribution, load capacity and stiffness isprogrammed with VB. The calculated results show that the rise of supply pressure is good forimproving the load capacity and stiffness of guideways. The decrease of the orifice diameter inannular orifice restriction and the permeability in porous restriction is advantageous to improve thestiffness of guideways, but both the corresponding bearing clearance and load capacity decrease. Inboth the annular restriction and porous restriction, the best film thickness which make the stiffnessmaximum exists under the definite supply pressure and parameter of the restrictor. Under the samesupply pressure, the load capacity and stiffness of porous restriction is higher than the orificerestriction. Meanwhile, the design and manufacture of porous restrictor is simple. The porousrestrictor is the perfect restrictor of aerostatic guideways

Notes: In this paper, the temperature distribution is analyzed during ceramic sintering processand the temperature difference variation is compared under the linear sintering curves with differentslopes. Then the changes of temperature difference curve are analyzed under both linear sinteringcurves and step sintering curves with different slopes. The results indicate that: there are overlaparea and platform area in all the temperature difference curves; all the temperature difference curvechange from overlap area to platform area; the max temperature difference can not be reducedeffectively by applying the heat preservation process at any time; the max temperature differencecan be reduced effectively when the heat preservation process is applied at the time of the curvebeing at the overlap area; the reduction of max temperature difference is small when thetemperature difference curve approaches the platform area

Notes: The bonding properties between the solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber(SSBR) and 2A70 aluminum alloy with treatment of anodic oxidation by sulfuric acid or ethaneacid were investigated. The influences of three treating methods were also studied. Two dryingmethods, which are vacuum method and normal pressure method affected on the properties ofadhesive molecular immerging into the hole dispersing on the surface of aluminum alloy, werediscussed. The results revealed that prolonging the time for anodic oxidation by both sulfuric acidand ethane acid can increase the thickness of the aluminum oxide layer

Notes: With the certain deposition process, the conversion coatings by four differentpretreatments on LF21 were studied. The morphology and the chemical composition of theconversion coatings were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The corrosionresistance was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and the salt spray test. The results showed that the different pretreatments had obvious effect on the cerium conversioncoatings. For the certain deposition process, the optimal pretreatment process was identified

Notes: The horizontal press performance of column is deteriorated because of special-shapedsection. Moreover, because the antiseismic performance of columns is worse, it is only used inregions where seismic intensity is lower. So the main problem is to enhance the ductility. This teststudy on mechanical performance has been carried out through fourteen SRCTSSC and RCTSSC.The study focuses on the impact of test axial pressure ratio(nt), hooped reinforcement ratio(ρv),shear span ratio(λ) and steel ratio(ρss) to the shear strength and the antiseismic performance ofSRCTSSC. It can be concluded that the shear strength of SRCTSSC is increasing with theincreasing of nt and ρss , but the degree of increasing is small when nt is a certainty value, and thatthe shear strength of SRCTSSC is decreasing with increasing of λ; The shear resistance formula ofT-shaped column is derived through tests, the calculated results are in correspondence with those ofthe tests. It also can be concluded that the hysteretic loops of the SRCTSSC are full and thehysteretic behaviors are improved and that the displacement ductility is increasing with increasingof ρv and ρss , but decreasing with the increasing of nt and the degree of variety in high axial pressureratio is larger than in low axial pressure ratio. If steel bars are added, the shear strength anddisplacement ductility of SRCTSSC is increased in a large degree, and the capacity of energydissipation is also enhanced. This test, for applying the special-shape column to higher intensityregion, has the certain instructive significance

Notes: Measurement of the grinding wheel topography and its change in machining process isimportant for revealing the grinding principle of high-temperature brazed mono-layersuper-abrasive grinding wheel. A new approach of measuring grinding wheel topography based onbinocular stereovision is presented. Firstly, the binocular images are achieved while the optical axesof the two cameras are parallel, and a corner reflection function algorithm is applied to detectcorners. Secondly, in order to get matching corners, optimal matching template is obtained bymatching curves. The experimental results show that the sequential similarity matching operationwith optimal template has advantages of high accuracy, and less error matching. Finally, the heightof the corners is obtained by calculating their parallax on left and right image, and the height erroris less than 5%

Notes: Hot-pressed silicon carbide, containing aluminum, boron, and carbon additives (ABC-SiC), was subjected to three-body and two-body wear testing using diamond abrasives over a range of sizes. In general, the wear resistance of ABC-SiC, with suitable heat treatment, was superior to that of commercial SiC. When the fine-scale (3 μm) diamond abrasives were used, it was found that thermal annealing at 1300°C increased the resistance to three-body wear by a factor of almost three, and two-body wear by a factor of almost two, compared with as-hot-pressed samples. Higher annealing temperatures, however, led to a decline in wear resistance from its highest value. Similar behavior was seen for 1300°C-annealed samples subjected to 15 μm diamond abrasive, although higher-temperature annealing at 1500°–1600°C enhanced the wear resistance again. When coarse abrasives (72 μm) were used, the wear resistance progressively increased with increased annealing temperature from ∼1000° to 1600°C. Corresponding transmission and scanning electron microscopy studies indicated that, whereas transgranular, conchoidal cracking was dominant in the mild abrasive wear with fine-scale (3 μm) abrasives, intergranular cracking and subsequent grain pullout was far more predominant in the more severe abrasive wear with coarse abrasives. Because the hardness and indentation toughness were barely altered during thermal treatment, the observed wear behavior was attributed mainly to the thermally induced microstructural changes, including the crystallization of glassy grain-boundary films, the possible strengthening of the boundaries due to the enhancement of the aluminum, and the formation of aluminum-rich, coherent nanoscale precipitates in the matrix grains above 1300°C.

Notes: An in situ-toughened silicon carbide (ABC-SiC) has been examined in the as-processed condition, where the grain-boundary films are predominantly amorphous, and following thermal exposure at a temperature of 1300°C, where the films become fully crystalline. Previous work has shown that, at elevated temperatures (up to 1300°C), after the grain-boundary films crystallize in situ, only a marginal reduction in strength, fracture toughness, and cyclic-fatigue crack-growth properties is observed, in comparison with those of the as-processed microstructure at 25°C. In the present study, the effect of such crystallization on the subsequent strength, toughness, and fatigue properties at 25°C is examined. Little or no degradation is observed in the room-temperature properties with the crystallized grain-boundary films/phase; in fact, although the strength shows a small reduction (∼3%), the fracture toughness and fatigue-crack-growth threshold both increase by ∼20%, compared with that of the as-processed structure with amorphous grain-boundary films.

Notes: Silicon carbide hot-pressed with aluminum, boron, and carbon as sintering aids (ABC–SiC), was studied by transmission electron microscopy. Both grain-boundary films and inclusions were prevalent in this material. The present study characterized the inclusions located in triple-junctions, grain boundaries, and the interior of the SiC grains, with emphases on phases not scrutinized before. These inclusions were crystalline, in contrast to the amorphous grain-boundary films. Two dominant types of boron-free triple-junction phases containing Al(Si)-O-C-(S) and Al(Si)-O were identified, where sulfur was an unexpected contaminant, and silicon came from SiO2 or from dissolution of SiC. Boron-containing inclusions with a composition Al-O-B-C were frequently observed inside SiC grains. Although the boron-free aluminum-rich phases wet the grain boundaries completely and are, therefore, effective sintering additives, the boron-containing Al(Si)-O-B-C did not wet the grain boundaries. The structure and chemical composition of these boron-containing intragranular inclusions were determined, and their mechanism of formation is discussed.
