Abstract A study has been made by electron Auger spectroscopy, x-ray structural analysis, and fractographic methods of the physico-chemical state of the surface layers of specimens and articles of alloy ÉP718ID after vibration-abrasive, heat, and ion-beam treatments. It has been shown that fatigue properties may be improved by means of implanting nitrogen and palladium ions.
