    Notes: N-TFA-Aminosäure-methylester geben bei der Hydrazinolyse in 50-70-proz. Ausbeute N-TFA-Aminosäure-hydrazide, N-TFA-Dipeptid-ester hingegen im allgemeinen Diketopiperazine. Lediglich bei einem am Aminoende sterisch stark gehinderten N-TFA-Dipeptid-ester, wie N-TFA-Valyl-alanin-methylester, bildet sich in 40-60-proz. Ausbeute ein N-TFA-Dipeptid-hydrazid.

    Notes: Neue technische Entwicklungen, Änderungen im Rohstoffangebot oder bei den Rohstoffpreisen, aber auch Forderungen des Umwelt- und Arbeitsschutzes führen dazu, daß die technische Herstellung von anorganischen und organischen Basisprodukten weit stärkeren Veränderungen unterworfen ist, als die Lehrbücher, vor allem diejenigen der organischen Chemie, vermuten lassen. Während in einem durchschnittlichen Universitätslehrbuch der organischen Chemie sicher ein halbes bis ein ganzes Dutzend Laborsynthesen für Ketone oder Aldehyde zu finden sind, werden technische Synthesen für industrielle Schlüsselverbindungen, wie z. B. Propylenoxid, nur am Rande erwähnt. Auch für den Hochschul- oder Schulunterricht geeignete Lehrbücher der industriellen synthetischen Chemie gibt es kaum (rühmliche Ausnahmen: K. Weissermel und H.-J. Arpe: „Industrielle Organische Chemie“. Verlag Chemie, Weinheim 1976).„Chemie in unserer Zeit“ beginnt angesichts dieser Situation im vorliegenden Heft mit einer lockeren Folge von Berichten über aktuelle Verfahren zur Herstellung industrieller Basischemikalien.

    Notes: Ethyl alcohol as raw material for the chemical industry. The oil crisis has awakened consciousness of the forseeable end of oil supplies and evoked an intensified search for alternative sources of raw materials. Aside from coal, naturally growing raw materials are attracting renewed attention. Ethanol is frequently discussed as a potential key product for further chemical use. For a realistic assessment of the potential of ethanol as a chemical raw material, model cases are considered in which the availability of the naturally growing raw materials for ethanol, the necessary investments for its production and further use, and the financial competitiveness of ethanol are investigated as main criteria.

    Notes: Environmentally more acceptable processes in the chemical industrys. From its very beginning the chemical industry has always made every effort to cut the consumption of raw materials and energy in its processes and to diminish the release of by-products and waste streams into the environment. These efforts at technically improving the various processes are presently being intensified by economical and political pressures of rising raw material costs and the rising costs of releasing harmful substances into the environment. Ways of reducing these influences on the environment by chemical processes and of improving process economics will be reported from the experience of Bayer AG. The examples show that it is possible to combine the indispensable with the practicable, and that in this way the burden on the environment can be kept as low as may be consistent with the image of the industrial society.

    Notes: N-TFA-Glycylchlorid liefert mit 2.2.2-Trifluoräthoxy-magnesiumjodid neben N-TFA-Glycin-trifluoräthylester offenbar durch Claisen-Kondensation infolge Decarboxylierung nach der Hydrolyse mit Wasser Bis-N, N′-TFA-diaminoaceton. Mit Äthoxy-magnesiumjodid verläuft die Reaktion analog. Hingegen wird mit Dicyclohexylamin als Base aus N-TFA-Glycylchlorid nach der Hydrolyse der N-TFA-Bindungen Glycyl-glycin und Diglycyl-glycin erhalten, und aus N-TFA-Glycylchlorid entstehen mit N-TFA-Glycyl-glycin und Dicyclohexylamin Glycin-peptide bis zum Hexaglycyl-glycin. - N-TFA-Glycin-trifluoräthylester setzt sich mit Glycin-äthylester beim Erhitzen in 94-proz. Ausb. zum N-TFA-Glycyl-glycin-äthylester um. Ebenfalls zur Synthese von N-TFA-Di-und Tripeptiden gut geeignet sind die N-TFA-Aminosäure-cyanmethylester. Sie liefern, mit Aminosäure- bzw. Dipeptid-äthylestern erhitzt, Ausbeuten an Dipeptid- bzw. Tripeptidderivaten von meist 80-90%.
