Description:
The paper describes developments in meteorological measuring equipment and techniques during the war. It covers surface and aircraft instruments, balloon-borne equipment and remote measurements without flight equipment. Reference is made, among other things, to the aerograph, the English frost-point hygrometer, radio direction finding and radar winds aloft, the aircraft parachute radiosonde, sferics and radar storm detection. While the account does not cover the topics in technical detail, it is intended to provide a summary of the trend taken in the development occasioned by wartime demands.
