An Unexpected Generation of Amidinoformic Acid (Semiamidine of Oxalic Acid)Amidinoformic acid (1) is formed on oxidation of dithiodiglycolic acid in conc. ammonium hydroxide solution by oxygen. The extremely zwitterionic compound, whose small pKA value even precludes solubilisation in 6 N HCl, was synthesized for comparison from hydroxy-acetamidine hydrochloride (2) by oxidation with potassium permanganate, and according to ref.1) by reaction of potassium 2-imido-2-mercaptoacetate (3) with ammonia. The acid 1 was easily esterified with methanolic hydrochloric acid to give the methyl ester hydrochloride 4, from which the N-tosyl derivative 5 and the N-brosyl derivative 6 could be obtained.

Amidinoameisensäure (1) entsteht bei der Oxidation von Dithiodiglykolsäure mit Sauerstoff in konz. Ammoniumhydroxid-Lösung. Die extrem zwitterionische Verbindung, deren pKs-Wert so klein ist, daß sie sich sogar in 6 N HCI nur teilweise lost, wurde zum Vergleich durch Oxidation von Hydroxyacetamidin-hydrochlorid (2) mit Kaliumpermanganat und nach Lit.1) aus Kalium-2-imido-2-mercaptoacetat (3) mit Ammoniak hergestellt. Die Säure 1 ließ sich leicht mit Methanol/Salzsäure zum Methylester-hydrochlorid 4 verestern, aus dem als weiteres Derivat die N-Tosylverbindung 5 und die N-Brosylverbindung 6 erhalten wurde.
