    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract Cross-flow rod bundles have considerably higher heat transfer coefficients compared to parallel-flow bundles. When applied in high-power density constant heat flux systems, however, a knowledge of the distribution of the heat transfer coefficients over the perimeter of the rods is of considerable importance in order to avoid failure due to hot spots at the leeward sides. Measurements have been carried out of the local heat transfer coefficients on circular cross section rods arranged in bundles. The measurements cover a range of Reynolds numbers from 10,000 to 40,000, and aligned, partly staggered, fully staggered and crossed rod configurations were investigated. The most favourable heat transfer conditions were found to be obtainable in crossed rod designs.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Querangeströmte Stabbündel weisen wesentlich höhere Wärmeübergangszahlen auf als längsangeströmte Elemente. Bei einer Verwendung in Hochleistungssystemen konstanter Heizflächenbelastung ist jedoch die Kenntnis der Verteilung der Wärmeübergangszahl über den Umfang der Stäbe von wesentlicher Bedeutung, um Schäden durch heiße Stellen im Strömungsschatten zu vermeiden. Es wurden zu diesem Zweck Messungen der örtlichen Wärmeübergangszahlen an in Bündeln angeordneten Stäben kreisförmigen Querschnittes durchgeführt. Die Messungen überdecken einen Bereich der Reynolds-Zahlen von 10 000 bis 40 000 und es wurden fluchtende, teilversetzte, vollversetzte und gekreuzte Stabanordnungen untersucht. Die günstigsten Wärmeübergangsbedingungen bieten gekreuzte Gitteranordnungen.
