Benzoyl hydrazide monoligand complexes [M(BzH)]n+, where M = Cu2+, Fe2+, Fe3+ and V5+O are prepared and their physical data reported. X-ray single crystal diffraction of Cu(BzH)CI2 reveal a nearly square planar configuration around the Cu2+; the benzoyl hydrazide molecule acting as a bidentate ligand with the CO and NH2 groups as coordinate sites and the partial contribution of the chloride ions as well. E.p.r. showed a low spin orbital coupling (500 cm-1) versus 830 cm-1 for the free Cu2+ ion; obviously coordinate bond chelation for the Cu2+ ion is envisaged.
