Notes: Endo-polygalacturonase (endo-PG) from Khyveromyces fragilis produced on whey was used for the clarification of apple juice and its efficacy was compared with that of a commercial pectinase. Endo-PG was recovered from the fermentation broth with a yield of 60.7% and a purification factor of 3.85. Clarification experiments were conducted at 30°C and 50°C for different times. No significant statistical differences in the final turbidity were observed at the 1% level for samples treated with either enzyme. It was concluded that endo-PG could be successfully used in the process of clarification of apple juice.

Notes: Abstract Rodrigues' extension (1989) of the classical Pták's homomoiphism theorem to a non-necessarily locally convex setting stated that a nearly semi-open mapping between a semi-B-complete space and an arbitrary topoiogical vector space is semi-open. In this paper we study this extension and, as a consequence of the results obtained, provide an improvement of Pták's homomorphism theorem.

Description: One of the main problems for a precise georeferencing and distance measurements from satellite images, especially in geographical zones with strong morphologic and environmental dynamics, lies not only in the difficulty for identifying ground control points (GCPs), but also in real limitations for accessing such places. In this work a relatively simple methodology is proposed for georeferencing and distance measuring from satellite images, based on the utilization of previously calculated reflectance images from the surface and then oriented toward the north (systematic georeferencing). From these images and setting a basic control point (pixel) P, measured with GPS, the (pixels) on the image, selected for its georeferencing. The statistical validation of the obtained results, using a different sample of GCPs measured with GPS, shows that the precision of the georeferencing and distance measurement utilizing the developed methodology is similar to that obtained by conventional procedures, such as image georeferencing from GPS data.
