Pteridines, LXII. Isolation Physical Properties, and Alkaline Degradation of the Eye Pigments Neodrosopterin and Aurodrosopterin from Drosophila melanogasterNeodrosopterin (3) and aurodrosopterin are isolated from Drosophila eyes and characterized by means of various physical data. The structure of 3 has been elucidated as the symmetrical form of iso-(2) and drosopterin (1) on the basis of its optical inactivity, of degradation reactions, and of the isomerization to 1 and 2. Aurodrosopterin represents a racemate which was separated into two optical active forms by chromatography on cellulose. Aurodrosopterin belongs structurally to the dipterinylmethane dyestuffs and differs from 1-3 most likely only in the C—C side-chain.
Notes:
