    Description / Table of Contents: Steroid Saponins with More than One Sugar Chain, VIII. Asperoside, a Bisdesmosidic 22-Hydroxyfurostanol Glycoside of Smilax aspera L.The structures of asperoside (2a), a 22-hydroxyfurostanol glycoside of Smilax aspera L., and asperin (1), a spirostanol glycoside formed by enzymatic hydrolysis of 2a or 2b, have been elucidated. The structure of the sugar chain at the 3-OH group of the aglycon was determined by permethylation of 1 and 2a or 2b and identification of the methyl sugars obtained by hydrolysis, by mass spectrometry and partial hydrolysis.
    Notes: Von Asperosid (2a), einem 22-Hydroxyfurostanol-Glycosid aus Smilax aspera L. und dem daraus durch enzymatische Hydrolyse hergestellten Spirostanol-Glycosid Asperin (1) wurden die Strukturen ermittelt. Die Verknüpfungsart und die Sequenz der Zucker am OH an C-3 des Aglykons wurden durch Permethylierung, Spaltung und Identifizierung der gebildeten Methylzucker aus 1 und 2a bzw. 2b, durch massenspektroskopische Untersuchungen sowie durch Partialhydrolyse bestimmt.
