Notes: Summary The effect of a stimulating dose of 0.15 Gy on the cyclic adenosine 3′,5′ monophosphate system has been studied. A rapid change is shown in intracellular level of cAMP and in the response of the system to a β-adrenoagonist.

Notes: Summary Irradiation of Chinese hamster fibroblasts with low-intensity visible light at λ=404, 632.8 and 760 nm causes changes in the intracellular cAMP concentration. After irradiation at λ=404 nm or 632.8 nm the intracellular amount of cAMP decreases during first 30 min and then grows in excess of the normal concentration (180÷190)% to (2÷3) h after the irradiation). In the case of irradiation at λ=760 nm, the amount of cAMP first increases (150% 30 min after the irradiation) and later on decreases as compared to the control culture. Irradiation of the cells with light at λ=546 or 700 nm has no appreciable effect on the intracellular cAMP concentration

Notes: Abstract Middle-wave UV-irradiation inhibits liberator-induced histamine release from mast cells. Red light stimulated liberator-induced degranulation of mast cell. The existence of a membrane-dependent system activated by long-wave (red) light in mammalian cells is discussed.
