Description:
The distribution of beetles of the genera Cychramus, Pocadius and Thalycra in the\nNetherlands (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae)\nThe aim of this study is to review the status of the five recorded species of the genera\nCychramus, Pocadius and Thalycra in the Netherlands. They are all mycetobiont, the larvae and\nthe adult beetles feeding and breeding on and in fungi. Cychramus luteus seems to be expanding\nslowly in the Netherlands, but records are still lacking from the provinces of Friesland, Flevoland\nand Zeeland. Cychramus variegatus has been mentioned only from the southern provinces\nof the Netherlands. In the northern part of the Netherlands Pocadius ferrugineus is nearly absent.\nThis could be caused by the fact that the fungus Lycoperdon pyriforme is very rare in that region.\nOnly a few number of records of Pocadius adustus are known. For Thalycra fervida no records\nhave been mentioned from the provinces of Groningen, Flevoland and Zeeland. The reason is\npossibly the absence of pine woods in these regions. A further study of the status and the\nbiotope of P. adustus and C. variegatus could reveal the cause of their rareness.
