    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto La temperatura di transizione ferromagneticaT c di leghe Fe−Ni preparate in laboratorio con cura particolare per garantire l'omogeneità è stata misurata mediante misure Mössbauer fino alla temperatura dell'azoto liquido per concentrazioni di Ni variabili tra 24 e 35% (atomico). I risultati mostrano cheT c è una funzione rapidamente decrescente al diminuire della concentrazione di Ni con un andamento non lineare caratteristico di tali leghe e diverso da quello lineare osservato su altre leghe di Ni. I dati ottenuti sono in accordo con quelli di altri autori, ma differiscono da altri risultati probabilmente ottenuti su campioni non sufficientemente omogenei.
    Abstract: Реэюме Проводится иэмерение температуры ферромагнитного переходаT c в сплавах Ni−Fe с контролируемой однородностъю. Иэмерения проводятся с помощъю мессбауэровских экспериментов при температурах вплоть до температуры жидкого азота и для концентраций никеля в области от 24 до 35 атомных процентов. Полученные результаты показывают, чтоT c уменьшается быстро с уменьшением концентрации Ni, согласно нелинейному поведению, которое отлично от линейного поведения, обычно наблюдаемого в других сплавах никеля. Полученные данные согласуются с даннымн других авторов, но отличаются от других данных, которые, вероятно, получены на менее однородных образцах.
    Notes: Summary The ferromagnetic-transition temperatureT c of carefully homogeneized Ni−Fe alloys has been determined by means of Mössbauer transmission experiments down to liquid-nitrogen temperature, for Ni contents ranging between 24% and 35% (atomic). The results show thatT c decreases rapidly with decreasing Ni concentration, according to a nonlinear behaviour different from the linear one usually observed in other Ni alloys. The present data agree with the ones of other authors, but differ from other data probably obtained in less homogeneized samples.

    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto La curva di approccio alla saturazione di materiali ferromagnetici policristallini è studiata nella regione di campi intermedi, corrispondente ad un rapporto induzione/saturazione compreso tra circa 0.7 e 0.9, che è di notevole interesse tecnologico. In questa regione, a differenza del caso degli altissimi campi, già esaminato da Néel, i campi smagnetizzanti interni fra grani diversi agiscono in modo da abbassare sensibilmente l'induzione rispetto al caso di cristalli non interagenti. Si propone un modello teorico che descrive le curve di approccio alla saturazione di materiali policristallini isotropi aventi anisotropia magnetocristallina a simmetria cubica, come il ferro e il nickel, prendento in considerazione gli effetti combinati dell'energia di anisotropia e dei domíni di magnetizzazione inversa che compaiono ai bordi di grano per diminuire l'energia dei campi smagnetizzanti locali. I risultati sono confrontati con le curve di approccio alla saturazione misurate su campioni policristallini, ben ricotti di ferro (campo coercitivo 2.5 A/m)e nickel. In entrambi i casi, si trova un ottimo accordo fra i risultati sperimentali e la teoria.
    Abstract: Резюме Подробно исследуется кривая приближения к насыщению поликристаллических ферромагнетиков в области промежуточных полей, соответствующих отношению индукции к насыщению в области от 0.7 до 0.9, которая представляет технический интерес. В этой области, отличной от области очень сильных полей, исследованной Неелом, внутренние размагничивающие поля между зернами существенно уменьшают индукцию по сравнению со случаем невзаимодействующих кристаллов. Предлагается теоретическая модель, которая описывает кривые приближения к насыщению изотропных поликристаллических материалов, имеющих кубическую магнитнокристаллическую анизотропию, таких как железо и никель, Предложенная модель учитывает совместные эффекты энергии анизотропии и доменов с обратным намагничиванием, котовче возникают на границах эерен, чтобы уменышитщ знергию локаллъного размагниыивающего поля. Полученные результаты сравниваются с кривыми приближения к насыщению, измеренными на поликристаллических, хорошо отожженных образцах железа (коэрцитивная сила 2.5 А/М) и никеля. В обоих случаях получено хорошее согласие с теоретическими предсказаниями.
    Notes: Summary The curve of approach to saturation of polycrystalline ferromagnets is studied in detail in the region of intermediate fields, corresponding to an induction-to-saturation ratio varying between about 0.7 and 0.9, which is of relevant technical interest. In this region, differently from the case of very high fields, already explored by Néel, the internal demagnetizing fields between grains act to sensibly lower the induction with respect to the case of noninteracting crystals. A theoretical model is proposed, which describes the curves of approach to saturation of isotropic polycrystalline materials having cubic magnetocrystalline anisotropy, as iron and nickel, by taking into account the combined effects of the anisotropy energy and of domains of reverse magnetization, appearing at grain boundaries to lower the local demagnetizing-field energy. The results are compared with the curves of approach to saturation measured on polycrystalline, carefully annealed samples of iron (coercive force 2.5 A/m) and nickel. A very good agreement with the theoretical predictions is found in both cases.

    Notes: Abstract We present a procedure for the numerical evaluation ofH(a, v) which is found to work quickly and leads to accurate results. It is shown that the improper integral definingH(a, v) may be conveniently reduced to a definite integral over the interval [−6, +6] with a small bound residual error; this is particularly interesting since it allows the use of the Gaussian quadrature formulae for most values ofa andv, which achieves a higher accuracy than Hermite's quadrature formula for improper integrals. In addition, the use of the Gaussian formula for the evaluation of definite integrals in this paper results in a substantial reduction of computation time over other numerical approaches to this problem. However, fora≤0.01 and ⋎v⋎〈+6 it was found more convenient to calculateH(a, v) using a series expansion ina. The number of correct significant figures obtained forH(a, v) as a function ofa andv is discussed.

    Notes: We report an investigation of the effect of the addition of strong mineral acids to the most commonly used matrices for fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry of peptides. Among the acids tested we found that perchloric acid has a beneficial effect on: (i) the sensitivity, (ii) the stability of quasi-molecular ion signals. Furthermore, in the presence of basic residues, ions related to perchlorate adducts are present. These further signals may be useful in differentiating peptides containing lysine from those containing the isobaric glutamine.
